Neuroscience and neurology research is dominated by experimentation with rodents.Around 75%of neurology disease-associated genes have orthologs in Drosophila mel-anogaster,the fruit fly amenable to complex neurological and behavioral investiga-tions.However,non-vertebrate models including Drosophila have so far been unable to significantly replace mice and rats in this field of studies. One reason for this situ-ation is the predominance of gene overexpression(and gene loss-of-function)meth-odologies used when establishing a Drosophila model of a given neurological disease,a strategy that does not recapitulate accurately enough the genetic disease condi-tions.I argue here the need for a systematic humanization approach, whereby the Drosophila orthologs of human disease genes are replaced with the human sequences. This approach will identify the list of diseases and the underlying genes that can be adequately modeled in the fruit fly.I discuss the neurological disease genes to which this systematic humanization approach should be applied and provide an example of such an application, and consider its importance for subsequent disease modeling and drug discovery in Drosophila.I argue that this paradigm will not only advance our un-derstanding of the molecular etiology of a number of neurological disorders, but will also gradually enable researchers to reduce experimentation using rodent models of multiple neurological diseases and eventually replace these models. 展开更多

The present article aims to present, by a bibliographic review, the current challenges of the dialog among fundamental issues referring to humanization as for current public policy in Brazilian scenario. The first one concerns with national health humanization policies and ultimately the humanization of the assistance to the woman’s health, especially at delivery and child birth. Using the hermeneutic dialectic as methodology, it’s understood that having these three facets, dialog consists not only of a great challenge but also of a condition on being put into practice, and expected issues become an effective reality. 展开更多

While it is true, quality has always been measured through statistics and percentages, often forgetting the training of the whole person. Now,when we talk about issues such as humanism and education supported by technology,we can fall into extremes:it is common to label technology as the provider of all the evils of today’s civilization;or the opposite assumption;to argue that incorporating technologies into education would be the panacea for all the problems it faces and finally,to assume that the subject of the humanities is more typical of actions and attitudes of the past than as a current need, giving vitality to any educational process. However, and fortunately for the educational community, today there are global efforts to make the educational task a human action that minimizes inequities and the abysmal differences that exist in countries like ours.Fernando Reimers says:“Equal educational opportunities must be the priority objective of educational policies, the aim of education must be to contribute to creating just societies”.This requires improving the learning environments of the poor, but not only along the paths that have been started over the last decade. This aspect pointed out by Reimers is precisely the central aspect that all educational action must contemplate;the educational policies that are implemented in our country must guarantee, above all,the construction of a just and egalitarian society, strengthening the cultural wealth that we have, with respect to the diversity of people, their past, their present and especially their future. 展开更多

With the development of the times, all aspects of life are changing, and concepts are also changing. People have higher and higher requirements for living environment, space and layout, especially in todays low-carbon society. People prefer a healthy, happy and comfortable living environment. With the continuous improvement of peoples living needs, the design concept of "people-oriented" in architectural design also appears. It adopts humanized design to create a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Therefore, in the current residential building design, it is necessary to meet the needs of residents. While living needs, we should also consider the impact of the living environment on all aspects of human beings, so as to create a livable living environment for human beings. 展开更多

Purpose:This article explores the literary work of a teacher and activist,Yi O-Deok,as a lens to approach historically and culturally embedded notions of humanization in education in Korea.Anchored in the ethos of“Asia as Method,”this study offers a unique perspective that exemplifies the importance of the local sociocultural context in Asia in enriching our understanding of universal concepts.Design/Approach/Methods:This study adopts a methodological approach centered around the examination of Yi O-Deok's work and his influence on critical literacy education.Key source materials include Yi's extensive five-volume diary and the various literary pieces he edited from the1950stothe1980s.Findings:Yi O-Deok's philosophy on humanizing education, deeply influenced by local contexts, provides a distinct,non-Western perspective. It offers a critical counterpoint to Western-centric educational paradigms and enriches the broader understanding of humanization in education.Originality/Value:The uniqueness of this study resides in its focus on children's writings, affirming faith in the unfiltered expressions of their pure spirits encapsulated in the raw“languages of the soil,”which have persevered through the sociopolitical upheavals of Korea's modern history. This in turn strengthens the call for a nuanced,non-Western interpretation of the concept of“humanization”in education. 展开更多

The brain is the most complex human organ, and commonly used models, such as two-dimensional-cell cultures and animal brains, often lack the sophistication needed to accurately use in research. In this context, human cerebral organoids have emerged as valuable tools offering a more complex, versatile, and human-relevant system than traditional animal models, which are often unable to replicate the intricate architecture and functionality of the human brain.Since human cerebral organoids are a state-of-the-art model for the study of neurodevelopment and different pathologies affecting the brain, this field is currently under constant development, and work in this area is abundant. In this review,we give a complete overview of human cerebral organoids technology, starting from the different types of protocols that exist to generate different human cerebral organoids. We continue with the use of brain organoids for the study of brain pathologies, highlighting neurodevelopmental, psychiatric, neurodegenerative, brain tumor, and infectious diseases.Because of the potential value of human cerebral organoids,we describe their use in transplantation, drug screening, and toxicology assays. We also discuss the technologies available to study cell diversity and physiological characteristics of organoids. Finally,we summarize the limitations that currently exist in the field, such as the development of vasculature and microglia, and highlight some of the novel approaches being pursued through bioengineering. 展开更多

With the growing advancement of wireless communication technologies,WiFi-based human sensing has gained increasing attention as a non-intrusive and device-free solution.Among the available signal types,Channel State Information(CSI)offers fine-grained temporal, frequency, and spatial insights into multipath propagation, making it a crucial data source for human-centric sensing.Recently, the integration of deep learning has significantly improved the robustness and automation of feature extraction from CSI in complex environments. This paper provides a comprehensive review of deep learning-enhanced human sensing based on CSI.We first outline mainstream CSI acquisition tools and their hardware specifications, then provide a detailed discussion of preprocessing methods such as denoising, time–frequency transformation, data segmentation, and augmentation.Subsequently,we categorize deep learning approaches according to sensing tasks—namely detection, localization, and recognition—and highlight representative models across application scenarios. Finally,we examine key challenges including domain generalization,multi-user interference, and limited data availability, and we propose future research directions involving lightweight model deployment, multimodal data fusion, and semantic-level sensing. 展开更多

In a world growing ever more cruel and violent as nihilism becomes generalized,a world in which the disintegration of the human assumes dimensions that threaten its very cohesion, the demand for the humanization of the Western individual asserts itself as an urgent historical task.Among the institutions implicated in this process, education assumes a central role,as it is within it that wonder and critical thinking are gradually eliminated, together with the demand for shared deliberation, coherent meaning, and the tragic dimension of human existence, while an education of cruelty comes to permeate it from end to end.In order to prevent the full entrenchment of evil in the social world, from which only destruction can be expected,a decisive role could be played by caring thinking that would be coordinated with corresponding action and would come to deeply characterize the educational institution.Such a form of thinking was proposed in the second half of the twentieth century and took flesh and bones within the framework of the Philosophy for Children movement. Its contemporary application within educational practice could reactivate phronesis(practical wisdom)and contribute to enabling the Western human being to re-create themselves as a democratic human being-one who desires the creation of a world of freedom, equality, and justice, and who acts accordingly to bring it about:the creation of a compassionate and prudent world, the preservation of which would be the responsibility of all. 展开更多
