By employing a non-Fourier heat conduction model, the corresponding temperature and thermal stress fields are established. Subsequently, a thermal stress intensity factor(TSIF) model for the auxetic HSs,accounting for multi-crack interactions, is developed. Finally, using the fracture-based failure criterion, the non-Fourier multi-crack critical temperature of the auxetic HSs is determined. This investigation thoroughly examines the effects of the non-Fourier effect(NFE), auxetic property, crack spacing, and crack location on the thermal shock fracture behavior of the auxetic HSs. Results indicate that a stronger NFE leads to weaker thermal shock resistance in auxetic HSs. Regardless of the presence of the NFE, the auxetic property consistently increases the multi-crack critical temperature of the HSs.Additionally, the interaction of multi-crack inhibits thermal shock crack propagation in HSs.展开更多

Their potential importance has aroused strong interest in a comprehensive understanding of such states. Here, we construct a four-band tight-binding model for the Px,y-orbital Dirac states considering both the nearest neighbor hopping interactions and the lattice-buckling effect. We find that Px,y-orbital Dirac states are accompanied with two addi- tional narrow bands that are flat in the limit of vanishing n bonding, which is in agreement with previous studies. Most importantly, we analytically obtain the linear dispersion relationship between energy and momentum vector near the Dirac cone. We find that the Fermi velocity is determined not only by the hopping through n bonding but also by the hopping through ~ bonding of Px,y orbitals, which is in contrast to the case of pz-orbital Dirac states. Consequently, Px,y-orbital Dirac states offer more flexible engineering, with the Fermi velocity being more sensitive to the changes of lattice constants and buckling angles, if strain is exerted. We further validate our tight-binding scheme by direct first-principles calcula- tions of model-materials including hydrogenated monolayer Bi and Sb honeycomb lattices. Our work provides a more in-depth understanding of Px,y-orbital Dirac states in honeycomb lattices, which is useful for the applications of this family of materials in nanoelectronics.展开更多

Recently the research of full thermoplastic honeycomb sandwich materials has been of interest due to their recyclability. In their production, they usually demand an adhesive-free process, namely fusion bonding, to connect thermoplastic honeycomb core and face sheets. It is a heat induced process where a parameter of temperature should be well controlled to guarantee the product quality. This article presents a mathematical model of heat conduction to analyze the transient temperature distribution from heating tools towards inner part of the core under fusion bonding conditions. In order to simplify the complexity of 3D honeycomb geometry, a homogenization method is used to obtain average thermal properties of the honeycomb along the major heat flux direction. The model is validated by comparing with the results of in-situ temperature measurement during fusion bonding. The presented model can also be applied to analyzing general out-of-plane heat conduction through honeycomb sandwich structures made from other materials.展开更多

文摘With the rapid development of fifth-generation mobile com-munication technology and wearable electronic devices, electromagnetic interference and radiation pollution caused by electromagnetic waves have attracted worldwide attention. Therefore, the design and development of highly efficient EMI shielding materials are of great importance. In this work, the three-dimensional graphene oxide(GO)with regular honeycomb structure(GH)is firstly constructed by sacrificial template and freeze-dry-ing methods. Then, the amino functionalized FeNi alloy particles(f-FeNi)are loaded on the GH skeleton followed by in-situ reduction to prepare rGH@FeNi aerogel. Finally, the rGH@FeNi/epoxy EMI shielding com-posites with regular honeycomb structure is obtained by vacuum-assisted impregnation of epoxy resin.Benefitting from the construction of regular honeycomb structure and electromagnetic synergistic effect, the rGH@FeNi/epoxy composites with a low rGH@FeNi mass fraction of 2.1 wt%(rGH and f-FeNi are 1.2 and 0.9 wt%,respectively)exhibit a high EMI shielding effectiveness(EMI SE)of 46 dB,which is 5.8 times of that(8 dB)for rGO/FeNi/epoxy composites with the same rGO/FeNi mass fraction. At the same time, the rGH@FeNi/epoxy composites also possess excellent thermal stability(heat-resistance index and temperature at the maximum decomposition rate are 179.1 and 389.0°C respectively)and mechanical properties(storage modulus is 8296.2 MPa).

文摘Wave propagation in two-dimensional hierarchical honeycomb structures with two- order hierarchy is investigated by using the symplectic algorithm. By applying the variational prin- ciple to the dual variables, the wave propagation problem is transformed into a two-dimensional symplectie eigenvalue problem. The band gaps and spatial filtering phenomena are examined to find the stop bands and directional stop bands. Special attention is directed to the effects of the relative density and the length ratio on the band gaps and phase constant surfaces. This work provides new opportunities for designing hierarchical honeycomb structures in sound insulation applications.

文摘High-speed impact threats and terrorist actions on the battlefield require the development of more effective protective materials and structures, and various protective structure is designed according their energy-absorbing characteristics. In this research, the deformation behavior, microscopic failure modes and energy absorption characteristics of re-entrant hexagonal structure, regular hexagonal structure and regular quadrilateral structure are studied under different strain rates impact. The re-entrant hexagonal structure forms a“X”-shaped deformation zone, the regular quadrilateral and regular hexagonal structure form an“I”-shaped deformation zone. The microscopic appearance of the section is a mixed fracture form. The effects of the topological shape, cell angle, and cell height on the impact behavior of the structure were evaluated. When the cell height is fixed and the cell angle is changed, the energy absorption of the structure increase and then decrease as the relative density increase. The mechanical properties of the structure are optimal when the relative density is about 18.6%and the cell angle is22.5°.When the cell angle is fixed and the cell height is changed,as the relative density increases, the energy absorption of the structure gradually increases. The regular quadrilateral structure and the reentrant hexagonal structure experienced clear strain rate effects under dynamic impact conditions;the regular hexagonal structure did not exhibit obvious strain rate effects. The results presented herein provide a basis for further rational design and selection of shock-resistant protective structures that perform well in high-speed impact environments.

文摘Dirac states composed of Px,y orbitals have been reported in many two-dimensional (2D) systems with honeycomb lattices recently. Our work provides a more in-depth understanding of Px,y-orbital Dirac states in honeycomb lattices, which is useful for the applications of this family of materials in nanoelectronics.

文摘The bipolar plate(BPP)is a crucial component of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFC).However, the weight of BPPs can account for around 80%of a PEMFC stack, posing a hindrance to the commercialization of PEMFCs.Therefore, the lightweight design of BPPs should be considered as a priority.Honeycomb sandwich structures meet some requirements for bipolar plates, such as high mechanical strength and lightweight.Animals and plants in nature provide many excellent structures with characteristics such as low density and high energy absorption capacity. In this work, inspired by the microstructures of the Cybister elytra,a novel bio-inspired vertical honeycomb sandwich(BVHS)structure was designed and manufactured by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)for the application of lightweight BPPs.Compared with the conventional vertical honeycomb sandwich(CVHS)structure formed by LPBF under the same process parameters setting, the introduction of fractal thin walls enabled self-supporting and thus improved LPBF formability. In addition, the BVHS structure exhibited superior energy absorption(EA)capability and bending properties. It is worth noting that, compared with the CVHS structure, the specific energy absorption(SEA)and specific bending strength of the BVHS structure increased by 56.99%and 46.91%,respectively.Finite element analysis(FEA)was employed to study stress distributions in structures during bending and analyze the influence mechanism of the fractal feature on the mechanical properties of BVHS structures. The electrical conductivity of structures were also studied in this work, the BVHS structures were slightly lower than the CVHS structure.FEA was also conducted to analyze the current flow direction and current density distribution of BVHS structures under a constant voltage, illustrating the influence mechanism of fractal angles on electrical conductivity properties. Finally,in order to solve the problem of trapped powder inside the enclosed unit cells,a droplet-shaped powder outlet was designed for LPBF-processed components. The number of powder outlets was optimized based on bending properties. Results of this work could provide guidelines for the design of lightweight BPPs with high mechanical strength and high electrical conductivity.

文摘The spoke as a key component has a significant impact on the performance of the non-pneumatic tire(NPT).The current research has focused on adjusting spoke structures to improve the single performance of NPT.Few studies have been conducted to synergistically improve multi-performance by optimizing the spoke structure.Inspired by the concept of functionally gradient structures, this paper introduces a functionally gradient honeycomb NPT and its optimization method.Firstly, this paper completes the parameterization of the honeycomb spoke structure and establishes the numerical models of honeycomb NPTs with seven different gradients.Subsequently, the accuracy of the numerical models is verified using experimental methods. Then, the static and dynamic characteristics of these gradient honeycomb NPTs are thoroughly examined by using the finite element method. The findings highlight that the gradient structure of NPT-3 has superior performance.Building upon this, the study investigates the effects of key parameters, such as honeycomb spoke thickness and length,on load-carrying capacity, honeycomb spoke stress and mass. Finally,a multi-objective optimization method is proposed that uses a response surface model(RSM)and the Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II(NSGA-II)to further optimize the functional gradient honeycomb NPTs.The optimized NPT-OP shows a 23.48%reduction in radial stiffness,8.95%reduction in maximum spoke stress and 16.86%reduction in spoke mass compared to the initial NPT-1.The damping characteristics of the NPT-OP have also been improved. The results offer a theoretical foundation and technical methodology for the structural design and optimization of gradient honeycomb NPTs.

文摘Two-dimensional double-layer honeycomb(DLHC)materials are known for their diverse physical properties, but superconductivity has been a notably absent characteristic in this structure. We address this gap by investigating M_(2)N_(2)(M=Nb,Ta)with DLHC structure using first-principles calculations. Our results show that M_(2)N_(2)are stable and metallic, exhibiting superconducting behavior.Specifically,Nb_(2)N_(2)and Ta_(2)N_(2)display superconducting transition temperatures of 6.8 K and 8.8 K,respectively.Their electron-phonon coupling is predominantly driven by the coupling between metal d-orbitals and low-frequency metal-dominated vibration modes.Interestingly, two compounds also exhibit non-trivial band topology.Thus,M_(2)N_(2)are promising platforms for studying the interplay between topology and superconductivity and fill the gap in superconductivity research for DLHC materials.
文摘In the present study, experimental and numerical investigations were carried out to examine the behavior of sandwich panels with honeycomb cores. The high velocity impact tests were carried out using a compressed air gun.A sharp conical nosed projectile was impacted normally and with some offset distance(20 mm and 40 mm).The deformation, failure mode and energy dissipation characteristics were obtained for both kinds of loading. Moreover, the explicit solver was run in Abaqus to create the finite element model. The numerically obtained test results were compared with the experimental to check the accuracy of the modelling. The numerical result was further employed to obtain strain energy dissipation in each element by externally running user-defined code in Abaqus.Furthermore, the influence of inscribe circle diameter and cell wall and face sheet thickness on the energy dissipation, deformation and failure mode was examined. The result found that ballistic resistance and deformation were higher against offset impact compared to the normal impact loading.Sandwich panel impacted at 40 mm offset distance required 3 m/s and 1.9 m/s more velocity than 0 and 20 mm offset distance. Also, increasing the face sheet and wall thickness had a positive impact on the ballistic resistance in terms of a higher ballistic limit and energy absorption. However, inscribe circle diameter had a negative influence on the ballistic resistance. Also, the geometrical parameters of the sandwich structure had a significant influence on the energy dissipation in the different deformation directions. The energy dissipation in plastic work was highest for circumferential direction, regardless of impact condition followed by tangential, radial and axial directions.
文摘The novelty of this research lies in the successful fabrication of a 3D-printed honeycomb structure filled with nanofillers for acoustic properties, utilizing an impedance tube setup in accordance with ASTM standard E 1050-12.The Creality Ender-3,a 3D printer, was used for printing the honeycomb structures, and polylactic acid(PLA)material was employed for their construction. The organic, inorganic, and polymeric compounds within the composites were identified using fourier transformation infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy. The structure and homogeneity of the samples were examined using a field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM).To determine the sound absorption coefficient of the 3D printed honeycomb structure, numerous samples were systematically developed using central composite design(CCD)and analysed using response surface methodology(RSM).The RSM mathematical model was established to predict the optimum values of each factor and noise reduction coefficient(NRC).The optimum values for an NRC of 0.377 were found to be 1.116 wt% carbon black,1.025 wt% aluminium powder, and 3.151 mm distance between parallel edges.Overall, the results demonstrate that a 3Dprinted honeycomb structure filled with nanofillers is an excellent material that can be utilized in various fields, including defence and aviation, where lightweight and acoustic properties are of great importance.
文摘Ferromagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized using water as the solvent through the sol-gel method, which was selected for its cost-effectiveness, simplicity, and eco-friendly nature. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using a variety of techniques, including Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). These characterizations confirmed the successful formation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The FTIR spectra identified characteristic peaks corresponding to the functional groups present, and XRD analysis, using Scherer’s equation, determined an average crystalline size of 1.2 nm for the Fe3O4 nanoparticles. TGA results demonstrated the thermal stability of the nanoparticles, SEM imaging revealed distinct honeycomb-like structures for the nanoparticles synthesized with water as the solvent, while the VSM analysis was used to determine the magnetic behavior of the nanoparticles.
文摘Using the method of elasticity, an analytical approach is developed to analyze the shear stress in a honeycomb wing structure with a large aspect ratio under the condition of free torsion. The formulas of shear stress, warping and angle of twist are derived. These formulas are both useful and convenient from the point of view in the structure design.
文摘Honeycomb sandwich materials have been widely used in aerospace industry as secondary structural materials or interior panels. The presented model can also be applied to analyzing general out-of-plane heat conduction through honeycomb sandwich structures made from other materials.

文摘Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)employ P2-type layered transition metal oxides as promising cathode materials, primarily due to their abundant natural reserves and environmentally friendly characteristics. However, structural instability and complex phase transitions during electrochemical cycling pose significant challenges to their practical applications.Employing cation substitution serves as a straightforward yet effective strategy for stabilizing the structure and improving the kinetics of the active material. In this study,we introduce a Ni-rich honeycomb-layered Na_(2+x)Ni_(2)TeO_(6)(NNTO)cathode material with variable sodium content(x=0,0.03,0.05,0.10).Physicochemical characterizations reveal that excess sodium content at the atomic scale modifies the surface and suppresses phase transitions, while preserving the crystal structure. This results in enhanced cyclic performance and improved electrochemical kinetics at room temperature.Furthermore,we investigate the performance of the NNTO cathode material containing 10%excess sodium at a relatively high temperature of 60℃,where it exhibits 71.6%capacity retention compared to 60%for the pristine.Overall, our results confirm that a preconstructed surface layer(induced by excess sodium)effectively safeguards the Ni-based cathode material from surface degradation and phase transitions during the electrochemical processes, thus exhibiting superior capacity retention relative to the pristine NNTO cathode. This study of the correlation between structure and performance can potentially be applied to the commercialization of SIBs.
文摘The development of heterogeneous acid catalysts with higher activity than homogeneous acid catalysts is critical and still challenging. In this study, acidic poly(ionic liquid)s with swelling ability(SAPILs)were designed and synthesized via the free radical copolymerization of ionic liquid monomers, sodium p-styrenesulfonate,and crosslinkers, followed by acidification. The 31P nuclear magnetic resonance chemical shifts of adsorbed trimethylphosphine oxide indicated that the synthesized SAPILs presented moderate and single acid strength. The thermogravimetric analysis results in the temperature range of 300–345°C revealed that the synthesized SAPILs were more stable than the commercial resin Amberlite IR-120(H)(245°C).Cryogenic scanning electron microscopy testing demonstrated that SAPILs presented unique three-dimensional(3D)honeycomb structure in water, which was ascribed to the swelling-induced self-assembly of the molecules. Moreover,we used SAPILs with micron-sized honeycomb structure in water as catalysts for the hydrolysis of cyclohexyl acetate to cyclohexanol, and determined that their catalytic activity was much higher than that of homogeneous acid catalysts. The equilibrium concentrations of all reaction components inside and outside the synthesized SAPILs were quantitatively analyzed using a series of simulated reaction mixtures.Depending on the reaction mixture, the concentration of cyclohexyl acetate inside SAPIL-1 was 7.5–23.3 times higher than that outside of it,which suggested the high enrichment ability of SAPILs for cyclohexyl acetate. The excellent catalytic performance of SAPILs was attributed to their 3D honeycomb structure in water and high enrichment ability for cyclohexyl acetate, which opened up new avenues for designing highly efficient heterogeneous acid catalysts that could eventually replace conventional homogeneous acid catalysts.

文摘Thermal infrared camouflage technology has attracted increasing attention with the progress of infrared surveillance technologies.Inspired by honeycombs,a thermal infrared camouflage film with honeycomb sandwich structure based on fluid and temperature control is proposed to cloak objects and display false targets in the thermal infrared spectrum. The structure and manufacturing method of the film are introduced, and the fluid and temperature control system is established and tested to explore the thermal infrared characteristics of the film composed of different thermal units. The camouflage performance of the film is intuitively displayed through the temperature frequency histograms of the infrared images photographed by an infrared camera. The temperature control accuracy of the thermal infrared camouflage system and the dynamic camouflage response of the film are evaluated by the temperature distribution map of each pixel in infrared images and the salient degree values.Furthermore, the influential factors on the camouflage responding time are investigated, including the heating and cooling time of the liquid, the flow rate of pumps inside the driving module, and the energy loss along the liquid lines. An application of displaying false target is also introduced and tested. The results show that the camouflage film has a well camouflage effect and a wide adjustment temperature range, showing promise for a broad range of potential applications, such as counter-surveillance,thermal control and heat shielding.

文摘Materials that can efficiently absorb electromagnetic waves(EMWs)are required to deal with electromagnetic pollution.Structure design appears to be an efficient way to improve the EMW-absorption performance of such materials, particularly when adjustment of the constitution or mixing ratio is limited. In this study,bowl-like and honeycomb titanium dioxide/carbon nanotube(TiO_(2)/CNT)composites with different CNT contents were fabricated using the methods of hierarchical and mixing vacuum-assisted filtration, respectively.Compared to the honeycomb structure, the bowl-like structure simultaneously facilitated greater interfacial polarization and conduction loss in favor of dielectric polarization, and augmented multiple reflections. The high porosity of the honeycomb structure was conducive to optimizing the impedance matching characteristics. The bowl-like TiO_(2)/CNT composite exhibited a minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-38.6 dB(1.5 mm)with a wide effective absorption band(EAB;<-10 dB)of4.2 GHz,while the honeycomb TiO_(2)/CNT composite showed an RLminof-34.8 dB(2.1 mm)with an EAB of 4.3 GHz.The required mixing ratio in the matrix was only 15 wt%,outperforming that of the most closely related composites. Thus, both the bowl-like and honeycomb TiO_(2)/CNT composites are ideal candidates for light-weight and highly efficient EMW-absorbing materials.
