However, the Li/O loss and Li/Ni mixing under high-temperature lithiation result in electrochemical kinetic hysteresis and structural instability. Herein, we report a highly-ordered single-crystalline LiNi0.85Co0.05Mn0.10O2(NCM85) cathode by doping K+and F-ions. To be specific, the K-ion as a fluxing agent can remarkably decrease the solid-state lithiation temperature by ~30°C, leading to less Li/Ni mixing and oxygen vacancy. Meanwhile, the strong transitional metal(TM)-F bonds are helpful for enhancing de-/lithiation kinetics and limiting the lattice oxygen escape even at 4.5 V high-voltage. Their advantages synergistically endow the single-crystalline NCM85 cathode with a very high reversible capacity of 222.3 mAh g-1. A superior capacity retention of 91.3% is obtained after 500 times at 1 C in pouch-type full cells, and a prediction value of 75.3% is given after cycling for 5000 h. These findings are reckoned to expedite the exploitation and application of high-voltage single-crystalline Ni-rich cathodes for next-generation Li-ion batteries.展开更多

文摘PEO-based all-solid-state electrolytes are extensively utilized and researched owing to their exceptional safety,low-mass-density,and cost-effectiveness.However,the low oxidation potential of PEO makes the interface problem with the high-voltage cathode extremely severe. In this work, the impedance of PEO-based all-solid-state batteries with high-voltage cathode(NCM811)was studied at different potentials. The Nyquist plots displayed a gyrate arc at low-frequencies for NCM811/PEO interface.Based on the kinetic modeling,it was deduced that there is a decomposition reaction of PEO-matrix in addition to de-embedded reaction of NCM811,and the PEO intermediate product(dehydra-PEO)adsorbed on the electrode surface leading to low-frequency inductive arcs.Furthermore, the distribution of relaxation time shows the dehydra-PEO results in the kinetic tardiness of the charge transfer process in the temporal dimension.Hence,an artificial interface layer(CEI_(x))was modified on the surface of NCM811 to regulate the potential of cathode/electrolyte interface to prevent the high-voltage deterioration of PEO.NCM/CEI_(x)/PEO batteries exhibit capacity retentions of 96.0%,84.6%,and 76.8%after undergoing 100 cycles at cut-off voltages of 4.1,4.2,and 4.3 V,respectively. Therefore, here the failure mechanism of high-voltage PEO electrolyte is investigated by EIS and a proposed solving strategy is presented.

文摘Lithium cobalt phosphate (LiCoPO4, LCP), having a high operating potential (4.8 V vs. Li/Li+), a flat voltage profile and a good theoretical capacity (167 mAh/g), is considered a promising cathode material for improving the energy density of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) [1] [2]. Here we report a category of method for synthesizing LCP, the solvothermal (ST) method with a binary solvent (deionized water: ethyl alcohol = 1:1), controlling the concentration of cobalt ion in 0.05 mol/L (ST-0.05) and 0.25mol/L (ST-0.25). The material phase was apparently identified via X-ray diffraction (XRD). Observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the grain size of LCP powders synthesizing by solvothermal method with two kinds of the concentration of cobalt ion were 400 × 400 × 1000 nm cuboids (ST-0.05) and 150 × 150 × 250 nm hexagonal prisms containing nanoparticles (ST-0.25), respectively. Discharge capacities of LCP were 76.0 mAh/g (ST-0.05) and 94.5 mAh/g (ST-0.25), in the first cycle at 0.1 C, respectively.

文摘Solid-state polymer electrolytes(SPEs) capable of withstanding high voltage are considered to be key for next-generation energy storage devices with inherent safety as well as high energy density. This study involves the rational design of solid-state-C≡N functionalized P(VEC_1-CEA_(0.3))/LiTFSI@CE SPEs and its synthesis by in-situ free radical polymerization of vinyl ethylene carbonate(VEC) and 2-cyanoethyl acrylate(CEA).In situ polymerization yields electrode/electrolyte interfaces with low interfacial resistance, forming a stable SEI layer enriched with LiF,Li_(3)N,and RCOOLi,ensuring stable Li plating/stripping for over 1400 h.The-C≡N moiety renders the αH on the adjacent αC positively charged, thereby endowing it with the capability to anchor TFSI^(-).Simultaneously,the incorporation of-C≡N moiety diminishes the electron-donating ability of the C=O,C-O-C,and-C≡N functional groups, facilitating not only the ion conductivity enhancement but also a more rapid Li^(+)migration proved by DFT theoretical calculations and Raman spectroscopy. At room temperature,t_(Li+) of 0.60 for P(VEC_1-CEA_(0.3))/LiTFSI@CE SPEs is achieved when the ionic conductivity σ_(Li+)is 2.63×10^(-4) S cm^(-1) and the electrochemical window is expanded to5.0 V.Both coin cells with high-areal-loading cathodes and the 6.5-mAh pouch cell, exhibit stable charge/discharge cycling. At 25℃,the 4.45-V Li|P(VEC_1-CEA_(0.3))/LiTFSI@CE|LiCoO_(2) battery performs stable cycling over 200 cycles at 0.2 C,with a capacity retention of 82.1%.

文摘Cathode materials that possess high output voltage,as well as those that can be mass-produced using facile techniques, are crucial for the advancement of aqueous zinc-ion battery(ZIBs)applications,Herein,we present for the first time a new porous K_(0.5)VOPO_(4)·1.5H_(2)O polyanionic cathode(P-KIVP)with high output voltage(above 1.2 V)that can be manufactured at room temperature using straightforward coprecipitation and etching techniques. The P-KVP cathode experiences anisotropic crystal plane expansion via a sequential solid-solution intercalation and phase co nversion pathway throughout the Zn^(2+)storage process,as confirmed by in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction and ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.Similar to other layered vanadium-based polyanionic materials, the P-KVP cathode experiences a progressive decline in voltage during the cycle, which is demonstrated to be caused by the irreversible conversion into amorphous VO_(x).By introducing a new electrolyte containing Zn(OTF)_(2) to a mixed triethyl phosphate and water solution,it is possible to impede this irreversible conversion and obtain a high output voltage and longer cycle life by forming a P-rich cathode electrolyte interface layer. As a proof-of-concept,the flexible fiber-shaped ZIBs based on modified electrolyte woven into a fabric watch band can power an electronic watch, highlighting the application potential of P-KVP cathode.

文摘Expanding the cutoff voltage of layered oxide cathodes for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)is crucial for overcoming their existing energy density limitations.However,cationic/anodic redox-triggered multiple phase transitions and unfavorable interfacial side reactions accelerate capacity and voltage decay.Herein,we present a straightforward melting plus reactive wetting strategy using H_(3)BO_(3)for surface modification of O_(3)-type Na_(0.9)Cu_(0.12)Ni_(0.33)Mn_(0.4)Ti_(0.15)O_(2)(CNMT).The transformation of H_(3)BO_(3)from solid to liquid under mild heating facilitates the uniform dispersion and complete surface coverage of CNMT particles.By neutralizing the residual alkali and extracting Na^(+)from the CNMT lattice,H_(3)BO_(3)forms a multifunctional Na_(2)B_(2)O_(5)-dominated layer on the CNMT surface. This Na_(x)B_(y)O_(z)(NBO)layer plays a positive role in providing low-barrier Na^(+)transport channels, suppressing phase transitions, and minimizing the generation of O_(2)/CO_(2)gases and resistive byproducts. As a result,at a charge cutoff voltage of 4.5 V,the NBO-coated CNMT delivers a high discharge capacity of 149,1 mAh g^(-1)at 10 mA g^(-1)and exhibits excellent cycling stability at 100 mA g^(-1)over 200 cycles with a higher capacity retention than that of pristine CNMT(86,4%vs,62.1%).This study highlights the effectiveness of surface modification using lowmelting-point solid acids, with potential applications for other layered oxide cathode materials to achieve stable high-voltage cycling. This proposed strategy opens new avenues for the construction of highquality coatings for high-voltage layered oxide cathodes in SIBs.

文摘P2-type layered oxide Na_(2/3)Ni_(1/3)Mn_(2/3)O_(2)(NM)is a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).However, the severe irreversible phase transition, sluggish Na+diffusion kinetics, and interfacial side reactions at high-voltage result in grievous capacity degradation and inferior electrochemical performance.Herein,a dual-function strategy of entropy tuning and artificial cathode electrolyte interface(CEI)layer construction is reported to generate a novel P2-type medium-entropy Na_(0.75)Li_(0.1)Mg_(0.05)Ni_(0.18)Mn_(0.66)Ta_(0.01)O_(2)with NaTaO_(3)surface modification(LMNMT)to address the aforementioned issues. In situ X-ray diffraction reveals that LMNMT exhibits a near zero-strain phase transition with a volume change of only 1.4%,which is significantly lower than that of NM(20.9%),indicating that entropy tuning effectively suppresses irreversible phase transitions and enhances ion diffusion.Kinetic analysis and post-cycling interfacial characterization further confirm that the artificial CEI layer promotes the formation of a stable, thin NaF-rich CEI and reduces interfacial side reactions, thereby further enhancing ion transport kinetics and surface/interface stability.Consequently, the LMNMT electrode exhibits outstanding rate capability(46 mA h g^(−1)at 20 C)and cycling stability(89.5%capacity retention after 200 cycles at 2 C)within the voltage range of 2–4.35 V.The LMNMT also exhibits superior all-climate performance and air stability. This study provides a novel path for the design of high-voltage cathode materials for SIBs.

文摘Ni-rich LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2(NCM)cathodes in layered oxide cathodes are attractive for high-energy lithium-ion batteries but suffer from rapid capacity fade and thermal instability at high charge voltages. In this study,we propose an entropy-assisted multi-element doping strategy to mitigate these issues.Specifically, two routes are designed and compared:bulk-like localized high-entropy doping(BHE-NCM)and surface-distributed high-entropy-zone doping(SHE-NCM).The surface entropy-doped NCM cathode delivers enhanced electrochemical performance, including higher capacity retention under 4.5 V cycling and superior rate capability, compared to both bulk-like and pristine counterparts.Comprehensive material characterization reveals that surface-localized doping stabilizes the layered structure with reduced microcrack formation and creates a uniform dopant-rich surface region with improved thermal and electrochemical stability.Overall,entropy-assisted doping at the near surface zone effectively alleviates structural degradation and interface reactions in Ni-rich NCM,enabling improved cycling performance at high voltage. This work highlights the significance of surface entropy engineering as a promising strategy for designing high-voltage cathodes with improved safety and longevity.

文摘Developing cost-effective single-crystalline Ni-rich Co-poor cathodes operating at high-voltage is one of the most important ways to achieve higher energy Li-ion batteries. These findings are reckoned to expedite the exploitation and application of high-voltage single-crystalline Ni-rich cathodes for next-generation Li-ion batteries.

文摘High-voltage lithium-ion batteries(HVLIBs) are considered as promising devices of energy storage for electric vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, and other high-power equipment. HVLIBs require their own platform voltages to be higher than 4.5 V on charge. Lithium nickel manganese spinel LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(1.5)O_4(LNMO) cathode is the most promising candidate among the 5 V cathode materials for HVLIBs due to its flat plateau at 4.7 V. However, the degradation of cyclic performance is very serious when LNMO cathode operates over 4.2 V. In this review, we summarize some methods for enhancing the cycling stability of LNMO cathodes in lithium-ion batteries, including doping, cathode surface coating, electrolyte modifying, and other methods. We also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different methods.

文摘Dual ion batteries(DIBs) exhibit broad application prospects in the field of electrical energy storage(EES)devices with excellent properties, such as high voltage, high energy density, and low cost.In the graphitebased DIBs,high voltage is needed to store enough anions with the formation of anion intercalation compound XCn(X=AlCl4-,PF6-,TFSI-,etc.).Hence,it is difficult for graphite-based DIBs to match proper anodes and electrolytes. Here,an Se/graphene composite is prepared via a convenient method, and assembled into a dual-ion full battery(DIFB) as anode with graphite cathode and 1 mol/L NaPF6 in EC:EMC(1:1,v:v).This DIFB has achieved a high discharge capacity of 75.9 mAh/g and high medium output voltage of 3.5 V at 0.1 A/g.Actually,the suitable anode materials, such as the present Se/graphene composite, are extremely important for the development and application of graphite-based DIBs.This study is enlightening for the design of future low-cost EES devices including graphite-based DIBs.
