With the development of engine technology, exhaust manifolds tend to work above 1 000 ℃ and this may be even higher in the future. For developing a new kind of steel to satisfy these requirements, the effects of tungsten (W)addition on the high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance of 18CrNbTi ferritic stainless steel are discussed in this study. The test results show that W enhances high-temperature strength at 1 000 ℃ and significantly improves oxidation resistance. However, W addition tends to degrade oxide layer adhesion, causing spalling during alternate hot and cold conditions.展开更多

However, the existing instruments for high-temperature performances testing mainly focus on inorganic binder-bonded sands no matter the test items or the atmospheric protection, while the instrumentss specially designed for resin-bonded sand are not yet available. A new instrument for testing the hightemperature performance of resin sand was designed including the confirmation of the testing parameters, loading, measurement and control systems, and the design of the frame shape and heating furnace. This instrument can test the compressive strength, heat tolerance time and restraining load of phenol-formaldehyde resin coated sand, self-hardened furan resin sand, and trimethylamine(TEA)-based resin bonded sand at high temperatures. Particularly in recent years, the development of new processes and the drive to improve the economics of existing processes have increased the requirements significantly so that it is necessary to change from well-proven materials to new alloys. Hitherto, heat resistant ferritic steels sufficed in conventional power station constructions for temperatures up to 550℃ newly developed ferritic/martensitic steels provide sufficient strength up to about 600 - 620℃. In new processes, e.g. fluidized-bed combustion of coal, process temperatures up to 900℃ occur. However, this is not the upper limit, since in combustion engines, e.g. gas turbines. Material temperatures up to 1100℃ are reached locally. Similar development trends can also be identified in the petrochemical industry and in the heat treatment and furnace engineering. The advance to ever higher material temperatures now not only has the consequence of having to use materials with enhanced high-strength properties, considerable attention now also has to be given to their chemical stability in corrosive media. Therefore not only examples of the use of high-temperature alloys for practical applications will be given but also be contributed to some general rules for material selection with regard to their high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance.展开更多

Based on the Thermo-Calc analysis, precipitation of niobium carbonitride and solubility of niobium have been predicted and characterized via scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) observations. It is shown that addition of niobium has a beneficial effect on improving the high-temperature strength, toughness, formability, and corrosion resistance of ferritic stainless steel. Soluted niobium is very effective in improving the high-temperature strength, which is beneficial to reducing the sticking propensity during hot rolling. Although niobium increases the recrystallization temperature, niobium-added ferritic stainless steels show a high mean r value, or a high plastic strain ratio, as long as the annealing temperature is high enough. Furthermore, because niobium helps to inhibit the formation of chromium carbides, ferritic stainless steel can keep an effective chromium content in the matrix, leading to improved corrosion resistance. Applications of these ferritic stainless steels for construction and home appliances have also been presented.展开更多

Recently, ferritic stainless steels are mainly used to parts of exhaust lines,as their thermal expansion coefficient is small, and the cyclic oxidation resistance and the thermal fatigue property are better than austenitic stainless steels. This paper presents newly developed heat-resistant stainless steels from Nisshin Steel for exhaust lines usage, and describes the currents of the steel development that could be envisaged in the future. With regard to improving the high-temperature strength of ferritic stainless steels, the addition of Nb,Mo and Cu is effective in solution hardening and precipitation hardening at 700℃,while the addition of Nb,Mo and W is effective in mainly solution hardening at 900℃.The addition of Cr,Si and Mn suppress the breakaway oxidation in air at 950℃up to 200 h of ferritic stainless steels containing 14%Cr.Especially,the addition of 0.8%or higher Mn would effectively improve the adherence of oxide scale. It is confirmed that ferritic stainless steels,NSSHR-1(14Cr-lMn-0.9Si-Nb) and NSSHR-2(10Cr-0.9Si-Nb-Ti ),is having a superior heat resistance, formability and cost performance compared to conventional Type441 and Type439 respectively.展开更多

However, because of the highly refined microstructure, the high temperature deformation behavior of spray deposited Al-Fe-V-Si alloy deviates more or less from the law predicted by using Rosler-Artz physical model.
文摘The kinetic curves of the high-temperature oxidation of austenitic heat resistant stainless steel 1. 4828 at 1 050 ℃ were measured using a weighing method. It is shown that the oxidation curves at 1 050 ℃ followed the parabolic line law, and after 250 h of oxidation, the mass gain was about 80 g/m2. The surface morphology and structure of the oxide layers were studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. A complicated oxide layer obtained at 1 050 ℃ was mainly composed, from inner to outer, of (FeSi) 3 04, Cr2 03, Fe2 03, and spinel oxides FeCr204 and NiMn204.
文摘The mechanical properties of resin-bonded sand mixtures at high temperatures significantly affect the quality of casting. The developed instrument has a high accuracy offering smaller than 0.3% deviation at a full scale in the measurement of the high temperature compressive strength and the restraining load over the range of 0-6.8 MPa and 0-2,000 N, respectively. The high temperature heat tolerance time range is 0-300 s and its measurement accuracy is ±1 s.

文摘The roller is one of the main parts of a high-pressure grinding roller, which is a type of highly efficient ore crushing equipment. Its working life is strongly affected by the materials used. In this paper, a new kind of roller material, the high-vanadium alloy steel (HVAS), was investigated. The results showed that the as-cast microstructures of the HVAS roller contained martensite, residual austenite, and alloy carbides. The HVAS sample quenched at 1,080 ℃ had a high hardness, and it had much higher compressive strength and abrasive wear resistance after tempering at 560 ℃ for 30 rain. The mechanical properties of the HVAS are more sufficient than the existing roller materials, which are feasible for larger machine design.

文摘In order to study the role of printed circuit board(PCB)in high-power LED heat dissipation,a simple model of high-power LED lamp was designed.According to this lamp model, some thermal performances such as thermal resistances of four types of PCB and the changes of LED junction temperature were tested under three different working currents. The obtained results indicate that LED junction temperature can not be lowered significantly with the decreasing thermal resistance of PCB.However,PCB with low thermal resistance can be matched with smaller volume heat sink,so it is hopeful to reduce the size, weight and cost of LED lamp.

文摘Developing a stable insulation material stands as a crucial challenge for high-voltage direct current(HVDC)cable insulation. This work proposes an alloying strategy to significantly enhance the breakdown strength and high-temperature resistivity of cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE).The strategy involves blending low-density polyethylene(LDPE)with polystyrene(PS),resulting in a polymeric alloy.Confirmation of PS alloying within XLPE is supported by observed shifts in polyethylene miller indices(110)and(200)planes.The dicumyl peroxide used as a crosslinking agent demonstrates an ideal 1.41% enhancement in LDPE-PS crosslinking. The integration of aromatic ethers in the cross-linked network enhances temperature stability.Alloying PS at 220℃ in XLPE leads to improved inter-molecular interactions and increased interfacial area, creating a sea-island morphology that resolves voids and limits defect or crack propagation by form-ing additional trapping sites. The enhanced breakdown strength and reduced conductivity of XLPE-PS are attributed to increased deep trapping sites and reduced carrier mobility resulting from alloying. The reduced conductivity at 70℃ and 90℃ demonstrates stability under electric fields.Remarkable breakdown strength improvements of 27.5%and 23.6% are observed at 30℃ and 50℃.The proposed alloying strategy suggests replacing XLPE with advanced XLPE-PS,offering promising prospects for HVDC insulation.

文摘With the increasing attention received by lightweight metals, numerous essential fields have increased requirements for mag-nesium(Mg)alloys with good room-temperature and high-temperature mechanical properties. However, the high-temperature mechanic-al properties of commonly used commercial Mg alloys, such as AZ91D,deteriorate considerably with increasing temperatures.Over the past several decades, extensive efforts have been devoted to developing heat-resistant Mg alloys. These approaches either inhibit the gen-eration of thermally unstable phases or promote the formation of thermally stable precipitates/phases in matrices through solid solution or precipitation strengthening. In this review, numerous studies are systematically introduced and discussed.Different alloy systems,includ-ing those based on Mg–Al,Mg–Zn,and Mg–rare earth, are carefully classified and compared to reveal their mechanical properties and strengthening mechanisms. The emphasis, limitations, and future prospects of these heat-resistant Mg alloys are also pointed out and dis-cussed to develop heat-resistant Mg alloys and broaden their potential application areas in the future.
文摘Using TiAl alloy to substitute superalloy is a hot topic in aeroengine industry because of its low density, high elevated temperature strength, and anti-oxidization ability. In this research, Ti-47.5AL-2Cr-2Nb-0.2B alloy was used as the test material. By applying a combination process of ceramic shell mold and core making, vacuum arc melting and centrifugal pouring, and heat isostatic pressing (HIP) and heat treatment (HT) etc., the TiAl vortex agitator casting for aeroengine was successfully made. This paper introduced key techniques in making the TiAl vortex agitator with investment casting process, provided some experimental results including mechanical properties and machinability, and explained some concerns that could affect applications of TiAl castings.
文摘The use of high-temperature materials is especially important in power station construction, heating systems engineering, furnace industry, chemical and petrochemical industry, waste incineration plants, coal gasification plants and for flying gas turbines in civil and military aircrafts and helicopters. Therefore not only examples of the use of high-temperature alloys for practical applications will be given but also be contributed to some general rules for material selection with regard to their high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance.

文摘The beneficial effects of niobium addition on properties such as high-temperature strength, toughness, and formability of ferritic stainless steels have been addressed. Applications of these ferritic stainless steels for construction and home appliances have also been presented.
文摘Exhaust emission regulations of the automotive are enforced in each country to prevent air pollution and global warming, and the restriction standard tends to become severer.Various techniques such as the combustion improvement of gasoline, upgrades of the catalyst, and the thermal capacity decreases in the exhaust lines are adopted to suit the regulations, and these lead to an increase of the maximum temperature of the exhaust gas. It is confirmed that ferritic stainless steels,NSSHR-1(14Cr-lMn-0.9Si-Nb) and NSSHR-2(10Cr-0.9Si-Nb-Ti ),is having a superior heat resistance, formability and cost performance compared to conventional Type441 and Type439 respectively.
