Methods: A convenience sampling method was employed to conduct a questionnaire survey among 1,442 preschool teachers in Xiangyang City from April to June 2024. The questionnaire covered five dimensions: knowledge, beliefs, behaviors, skills, and policies. Item response rates were used to identify literacy gaps. Results: The overall vision protection literacy of preschool teachers exhibited characteristics of “strong beliefs but weak knowledge and skills”. The item response rates for each dimension, from highest to lowest, were: beliefs (92.7%), policies (81.9%), behaviors (74.8%), knowledge (67.5%), and skills (58.3%). The core gaps were concentrated in the “knowledge” and “skills” dimensions, with significant deficiencies particularly in the understanding of the concept of “hyperopia reserve” (awareness rate: 27.6%), skills in guiding behaviors for myopia prevention and control (mastery rate: < 50%), and the ability to interpret vision screening results (complete mastery rate: 35.0%). Conclusion: Currently, there are significant structural deficiencies in the health literacy of kindergarten teachers regarding children’s vision protection. In the future, greater emphasis should be placed on practical skills training, particularly in enhancing their practical abilities in areas such as “hyperopia reserve” cognition and interpretation of vision screening results.展开更多

Nevertheless, the differences between the offers are immense. From individual days for projects to comprehensive programs and codes of practice, such as good healthy school, one can find a broad range of measures in German school settings. Current research results also show that “school” can be a decisive factor to undermine the psychosocial well-being of teachers, students and other school staff. In this contribution, approaches to health promotion and health literacy in elementary schools are presented from different perspectives, which show that the competence modeling for health literacy in elementary schools remains to be investigated. This contribution introduces approaches to health promotion and health literacy, which are relevant for the school setting at the elementary level, from different perspectives.展开更多

文摘Objective: To investigate the current status of health literacy regarding children’s vision protection among preschool teachers and to provide a basis for targeted training. In the future, greater emphasis should be placed on practical skills training, particularly in enhancing their practical abilities in areas such as “hyperopia reserve” cognition and interpretation of vision screening results.

文摘Background:Mental health literacy(MHL)refers to one’s knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders and their treatments. This literacy may be influenced by cultural norms and values that shape individuals’experiences, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors regarding mental health. This study focuses on adapting the Mental health literacy scale(MHLS)for use in the multicultural context of Israel. Objectives include validating its construct, assessing its accuracy in measuring MHL in this diverse setting and examining and comparing levels of MHL across different cultural groups. Methods:The data collection included 1057 participants, representing all the ethnic groups of the Israeli population aged 18 and over. The tools included the MHLS and a demographic questionnaire.Confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)was employed to assess the original structure of the MHLS.Results:The results revealed that after evaluating the original MHLS,five items were excluded, leading to the validation of a modified version—Israeli mental health scale(IMHLS)with four factors and 25 items.CFA and reliability analyses supported an established and robust four-factor model.Significant ethnic differences in MHLS scores were identified, with Muslim participants showing the highest familiarity with mental disorders, followed by Druze and Christian participants, while Jewish participants had the lowest familiarity. Conclusion:The study concluded that the IMHLS is a valid and reliable tool for assessing MHL in Israel’s diverse and multicultural population. The revised scale better reflects the cultural nuances of the Israeli context. The significant ethnic differences that the study revealed in IMHLS emphasize the importance of culturally sensitive mental health interventions tailored to different ethnic groups in Israel.
文摘Health literacy measures are well established in school. This contribution introduces approaches to health promotion and health literacy, which are relevant for the school setting at the elementary level, from different perspectives.

文摘Objective:Health literacy is closely associated with self-care behaviors in heart-failure patient.A reliable, valid, and practical measuring tool would evaluated the level of health literacy in Chinese patients with heart failure, and provide evidence for individualized education.Aim of this study was to translate Heart Failure-Specific Health Literacy Scale(HF-Specific HL Scale)into Chinese and test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version. Methods:The original HF-specific HL scale was translated into Chinese and modified for cultural adaption.Totally 164 HF inpatients were investigated with the Chinese version of HF-specific HL scale. To test the reliability and validity of the scale, item analysis, exploratory factor analysis(EFA),confirmatory factor analysis(CFA),and correlation analysis were conducted.Result:Cronbach's a value for the scale is 0.87;the correlation coefficients between each item and the total score ranged from 0.61 to 0.91.Three factors was extracted by EFA,which could explain 64.62%of the total variance. The result of CFA also showed that the scale demonstrated an acceptable model fit.The scale was significantly correlated with the Chinese version of the Heart Failure Knowledge Test(C-HFKT).Conclusion:The Chinese version of HF-specific HL scale is reliable and valid, and is suitable for assessment of HL in Chinese HF patients.
文摘Health literacy is critical to improving individual and public health. However, indigenous perceptions of health are largely absent from Western-derived measurements, contributing to disparities in health outcomes between indigenous and non-indigenous populations.China is the country with the world's largest population and only officially introduced the term"health literacy"in 2008.Current measures of health literacy in China are primarily based on Western-derived constructs, which have been shown to have poor comparability to the unique dual medical system in China.Given its significant importance to health management globally, understanding health perceptions from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective is essential. This review explores the concept and core elements of indigenous health literacy, evaluates the existing definitions and measurement tools as applied to the concept, and proposes a new model of traditional Chinese medicine health literacy.
