Background: In the global burden of non-communicable diseases, the top slot among them all is occupied by various cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which also claim primacy in mortality rates. Generally speaking, the pathophysiological pathway frequently involves either (or a combination of) elevated serum cholesterol levels, predominantly attributed to dietary patterns characterized by extremely high levels of saturated and trans-fat consumption. Day-to-day nutritional epidemiology among university students suggests that they represent a crucial demographic for the study of preventive interventions. Objective: This in-depth study and investigation were specifically aimed to quantitatively assess and compare prevailing patterns of dietary fat consumption between female students enrolled in health sciences and non-health sciences programs at major universities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was comprised of 434 Saudi female university students (age range: 18 - 25 years), utilizing a validated Block Dietary Fat Screener accompanied by anthropometric measurements and comprehensive demographic data collection. The sampling methodology consisted of a snowball technique that was spread across three major academic institutions in Riyadh. Results: Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between academic specialization and patterns of dietary fat consumption (p = 0.012). Paradoxically, students of health science exhibited a higher prevalence of very high fat intake (41.9%) compared with their non-health sciences counterparts (27.6%). Surprisingly, anthropometric stratification revealed that it was the underweight students who demonstrated very high levels of fat consumption. A notable socioeconomic gradient was observed, with students from households earning 15,000 - 20,000 SR monthly showing the highest prevalence of very high-fat consumption (47.1%), although this association did not achieve statistical significance (p = 0.104). Conclusion: These findings challenge the conventional assumption that health sciences education correlates with superior dietary behaviors. The data suggests a critical need for enhanced education in nutrition, as well as intervention using various behavioral programs across all academic disciplines, particularly those addressing the disconnect between nutritional knowledge and dietary practices among students of health sciences. Future longitudinal studies are warranted in order to elucidate the temporal relationship between academic specialization and dietary behaviors. 展开更多

In the Anthropocene, health is necessary to achieve global sustainable development. This is a challenge because health issues are complex and span from humans to ecosystems and the environment through dynamic interac-tions across scales. We find that the health issues have been mainly addressed by disciplinary endeavors which unfortunately will not result in panoramic theories or effective solutions. We recommend focusing on the intri-cate interactions between humans, ecosystems and the environment for developing common theoretical under-standings and practical solutions for safeguarding planetary health, with human health as the key indicator and endpoint. To facilitate this paradigm shift,a holistic framework is formulated that incorporates disturbances from inner Earth and our solar system, and accommodates interactions between humans, ecosystems and the environ-ment in a nested hierarchy. An integrative and transdisciplinary health science is advocated along with holistic thinking to resolve our current health challenges and to achieve the health-related sustainable development goals. 展开更多

The strategic role of health care within the Brazilian development agenda has been increasingly recognized and institutionalized. Aside from its importance as a structural element of the Welfare State, health care plays a leading role in generating innovation. Despite this, the productive base of Brazil’s health care system is extremely fragile, jeopardizing both the universal provision of health care services and the country’s competitive insertion in the globalized environment. This suggests the need for a more systematic analysis of the complex relationships that exist between the technological and the social interests involved in the productive base of health care provision in Brazil. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to enhance our understanding of the productive base of health care, especially given its potential to contribute to a socially inclusive development model, which is the ultimate goal in Brazil. 展开更多

India’s race, religion, and caste are quite diverse.Even within the same nation, regional variations exist in the ABO blood type and the Rh system. The current research examined the relationship between diseases and the ABO blood type among Nagaland’s Chakhesang ethnic communities. This research considered the population of sick people with ABO blood types. One hundred persons, including men and women from the Chakhesang tribe, served as research respondents. The Chakhesang Naga tribe was selected for this study because of the documented higher prevalence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus within this group compared to the broader regional population. The study also aimed to explore a possible association between these health conditions and blood type A.The ABD antisera typing Kit’s standard methodology was followed for blood group testing.S2 ABO software was used to compute the Hardy-Weinberg model, and the chi-square test was used to compare the results. In this research,we discovered that blood type A was more likely to develop hypertension and diabetes than blood types B and O(blood type A,X^(2)=16.3,P=0.00*;blood type B,X^(2)=18,P=0.00*;blood type O,X^(2)=0.085,P=0.87).This might imply that blood type A may be genetically predisposed to diabetes and hypertension more than other blood types. Our research shows that, compared to healthy individuals, the prevalence of hypertension and diabetes was much higher in the general population. The Chakhesang Naga tribe has the highest prevalence of blood type B,while those with blood type A are the most afflicted and sensitive to hypertension and diabetes.A key limitation of the study is that the findings are based on a specific population and may not be generalizable.Larger and more diverse cohorts are needed to evaluate their broader applicability. 展开更多

The use of an electrical probe is forned by whispering gallery modes(WGMs)of light within the coated microring circuits,in which the electrical signal is generated by trapped electron tunneling along the circular path of the coa ted microring circuit. The ollection of electrons is formed within the WGMs,where in this study,a modifed nonlinear microring resonator known as a PANDA ring resonator is coated by gold material and forms the mirroring circuit. The induced current(magnetic field)within the circuit occurs by the coupling ffects between trapped electrons and coated ring, which can penetrate into the brain cells and transform to the required signals via the terahertz carier for peychiatric investigations. The use of WGMs for 3D image construction using a PANDA conjugate mirror is also discussed, which is useful for thermal and imaging sensons. 展开更多
