Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate health education using videos and leaflets for preconception care (PCC) awareness among adolescent females up to six months after the health education. Methods: The subjects were female university students living in the Kinki area. A longitudinal survey was conducted on 67 members in the intervention group, who received the health education, and 52 members in the control group, who did not receive the health education. The primary outcome measures were knowledge of PCC and the subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile. Surveys were conducted before, after, and six months after the intervention in the intervention group, and an initial survey and survey six months later were conducted in the control group. Cochran’s Q test, Bonferroni’s multiple comparison test, and McNemar’s test were used to analyze the knowledge of PCC data. The Health Awareness, Nutrition, and Stress Management subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile were analyzed by paired t-test, and comparisons between the intervention and control groups were performed using the two-way repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: In the intervention group of 67 people, the number of subjects who answered “correct” for five of the nine items concerning knowledge of PCC increased immediately after the health education (P = 0.006) but decreased for five items from immediately after the health education to six months later (P = 0.043). In addition, the number of respondents who answered “correct” for “low birth weight infants and future lifestyle-related diseases” (P = 0.016) increased after six months compared with before the health education. For the 52 subjects in the control group, there was no change in the number of subjects who answered “correct” for eight out of the nine items after six months. There was also no increase in scores for the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile after six months for either the intervention or control group. Conclusion: Providing health education about PCC using videos and leaflets to adolescent females was shown to enhance the knowledge of PCC immediately after the education. 展开更多

Pregnancy health education is of great significance for the health of both mothers and infants, and the Health Belief Model(HBM)provides a key theoretical framework for it.The HBM consists of six constructs:perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy.It can facilitate the transformation from“knowing”to“believing”and then to“acting”for pregnant women.Pregnancy health education based on the HBM can improve maternal and infant health outcomes, enhance specific health knowledge and safe behaviors, and promote the establishment of healthy lifestyles. Its intervention implementation involves assessment, planning, implementation, and re-assessment processes, and the educational content needs to be constructed according to the characteristics of the early, middle, and late stages of pregnancy. However, the application of the HBM faces challenges such as cultural adaptability, digital integration, and the lack of long-term effect evaluation. In the future, targeted optimization is needed to improve the pregnancy health education system and ensure maternal and infant health. 展开更多

Objective: To explore effective ways of conducting STD/AIDS health education among female commercial sex workers in entertainment establishments and to promote implementation of an 100% condom use programme. Methods: In-depth interviews were carried out to collect qualitative information about demographic characteristics, STD/AIDS knowledge, attitude and risk behaviors of female sex workers. Female sex workers were selected by sampling and were given baseline survey and assessment after intervention. Based on the results of the interviews, a questionnaire was developed, and intervention measures were determined. These measures included face-to-face interviewing, counseling, and distribution of STD/AIDS information and condoms. Results: 196 and 182 female sex workers of the same population were interviewed separately before and after intervention. STDs/AIDS knowledge had significantly increased after one year's intervention (P <0.01). Knowledge increased in both the intervention group and the non-intervention group but the increase was more significant among sex workers who received the intervention. Risk behaviors remained at baseline levels in both groups. Conclusion: STD/AIDS health education among female sex workers in entertainment establishments was effective and may benefit society, but the strategies need to be adjusted to the female sex workers' lifestyles, particularly their high rates of mobility and high-risk behaviors. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Pediatric asthma is a significant public health issue that impacts the quality of life of children globally.Traditional management approaches focus on symptom control and medication adherence but often overlook the comprehensive educational needs of patients and their families.A multifaceted health education approach may offer a more holistic strategy in managing pediatric asthma, especially in outpatient settings.AIM To evaluate the efficacy of a comprehensive health education strategy in improving disease management, medication adherence, and quality of life among children with asthma in outpatient settings.METHODS In total,100 pediatric patients with severe asthma were enrolled from January 2021 to November 2022 and randomly allocated to a control group(n=50)or an observation group(n=50).The control group received standard nursing care, including basic nursing interventions and health education upon admission. In contrast, the observation group was exposed to a broad spectrum of health education methodologies, including internet-based hospital systems, social media channels,one-on-one verbal education, informational brochures, slide present ations, telephone check-ins,animated videos, and illustrated health education manuals.Data on asthma management knowledge, symptom control, quality of life[St.George’s Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ)],treatment adherence, and nursing satisfaction were collected and analyzed.RESULTS The scores of the observation group in knowledge areas, such as medication, home care, disease understanding, symptom management, prevention strategies, and nutritional guidance, were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).In addition, the observation group exhibited greater symptom control, improved quality of life based on their SGRQ scores, and higher treatment adherence post-intervention(P<0.05).Nursing satisfaction was also rated higher in the observation group across all evaluated areas(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Implementing a diversified health education approach in pediatric asthma management significantly enhances disease understanding, symptom management, and treatment adherence, leading to improved quality of life for affected children. These findings underscore the importance of multifaceted clinical health education in augmenting disease awareness and facilitating continuous improvements in asthma control rates, highlighting the potential benefits of incorporating comprehensive educational strategies into pediatric asthma care protocols. 展开更多
