Some therapies for elderly people are based on the philosophy that the activities to be carried out will also be stimulating to the senses. On the other hand, the dynamics of the senses plays<span style="font-family:""> an important role beyond mere reason and sensibility in people’s lives. The hand care therapy that used natural herb oil is the alternative medicine that utilized a plant or its essential oil, which is used in various application scenes. In our past study, the hand care therapy that used natural herb oil demonstrated the effectiveness for elderly people. In this study, we examined influences on psychological condition of the side to treatment on. On the evaluation with question paper, baseline of POMS factor and TMD average were similar to pre-HCT. In post-HCT, T-A, A-H, F and C which were negative factors decreased than pre significantly. The forward factor V did not have significant difference, but the mean increased. Furthermore, the TMD (total mood distance) score generally decreased and changed in the balance of good feelings. On the objective evaluation, temporal change differences in the PNS (Parasympathetic Nervous System) during the relaxed state and following the induced stress state were monitored using ECG (electrocardiograph). The SNS (Sympathetic Nervous System) of students in HCT has decreased, and the PNS was confirmed to increase. For the tendency in SNS, the changes during the HCT were small. There were no significant changes in rSO2 (regional oxygen saturation) by HCT. BVI (blood volume information) showed significantly big values at left hand treatment and after HCT than BL, indicating that peripheral circulation of the blood flow quantity of the student increased. Generally, it was shown that the subjective emotional evaluation of the hand care treatment side, the objective autonomic nervous system change, and the coronal blood flow were all good. In Japan, the global pandemic of COVID-19 disrupts human interaction, and there are concerns about physical, cognitive, and mental deterioration. The use of hand care therapy has been shown to be an effective technique for building quality communication for both recipients and performers. 展开更多

Background: Orthopedic surgeons often refer patients to hand therapy following orthopedic injury or surgery to facilitate recovery and maximize outcomes. Patients should be a key part of the shared decision-making process when it comes to their rehabilitation. While there is existing literature investigating factors considered by patients when choosing other medical providers, there are currently no studies investigating factors considered by patients when choosing a hand therapist. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to investigate public perception of factors which are important when choosing a hand therapist. Methods: A convenience sample (N = 220) of adults over the age of 18 completed an anonymous online survey using an internet crowdsourcing platform. Respondents were asked to quantitatively rank the importance of 10 predetermined factors related to selecting a hand therapist. Results: Respondents ranked insurance coverage and credentialing as a certified hand therapist as highest in terms of importance. Conclusion: We found that the factors people consider important when selecting a hand therapist are similar to the factors described in the medical literature that are important when selecting a physician or other healthcare provider. The results have implications for physicians when ensuring continuity of care for their patients. 展开更多

This study presents the novel Traction-Free Posture Orthosis, designed to address wrist stiffness without the use of traditional traction methods. The orthosis employs a velcro system to stabilize the position of the wrist in flexion or extension, thereby avoiding the compression and rotational disadvantages associated with non-perpendicular traction forces.Triangular-shaped cuts in the brace allow for plastic material flexibility, ensuring movement and comfort.Significant is the absence of a traction strap, which traditionally reduces the support surface and could create pressure points leading to patient discomfort or treatment rejection. The design facilitates a wide contact surface with the hand, optimal load distribution, and the capacity to adjust dual traction straps independently, adapting to the natural wrist movement. This single-piece base orthosis offers a stable,cost-effective,and patientfriendly alternative to conventional splints. However, patients with stiffness in both flexion and extension may require two separate orthoses, potentially increasing costs and patient inconvenience.Overall, the Traction-Free Posture Orthosis represents an innovative step in wrist rehabilitation, providing a quick-to-construct,easy-to-wear solution with the promise of enhanced patient compliance and comfort. 展开更多

There are many ways that rehabilitation therapists, including occupational and physical therapists, treat nerve-related pain.Commonly used interventions include neurodynamic treatment, pain neuroscience education, desensitization, exercise, physical agent modalities, mirror box therapy, and Kinesio taping.Despite common practice and anecdotal support,it can be challenging to determine the appropriate intervention for each patient. In this article, each of these treatment approaches is discussed, including indicated pain phenotypes and diagnoses, timing, efficacy, mechanism, contraindications, and limitations. 展开更多
