Electrodeposited organic light-emitting diode(OLED)technology requires a spin-coating-free hole-injection layer that simultaneously provides smooth surface morphology,stable energy levels,and compatibility with high-r...Electrodeposited organic light-emitting diode(OLED)technology requires a spin-coating-free hole-injection layer that simultaneously provides smooth surface morphology,stable energy levels,and compatibility with high-resolution pixel architectures.In this study,electropolymerization of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(EDOT)in poly(styrene sulfonate)(PSS-)surfactant-solubilized colloidal media is shown to afford poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)films with robust surface uniformity and stable energy levels suitable for application as hole-injection layers in OLEDs.Systematic investigation reveals that the hole-injection properties of these films are governed primarily by the colloidal chemistry of EDOT/PSS-surfactant-solubilized systems,rather than by conventional electrochemical parameters.This colloidal regulation modulates the film work function over a practically useful range.Incorporation of optimized films into OLEDs leads to enhanced hole injection and improved device performance,with external quantum efficiency increasing from 2.2%to 7.4%and minimal roll-off.Overall,this work demonstrates a feasible example of realizing spin-coating-free hole-injection layers,offering a potential direction for the development of electrodeposited injection layers for OLEDs.展开更多
Quantum-dot light-emitting diodes(QLEDs)are multilayer electroluminescent devices promising for next-generation display and solid-state-lighting technologies.In the state-of-the-art QLEDs,hole-injection layers(HILs)wi...Quantum-dot light-emitting diodes(QLEDs)are multilayer electroluminescent devices promising for next-generation display and solid-state-lighting technologies.In the state-of-the-art QLEDs,hole-injection layers(HILs)with high work functions are generally used to achieve efficient hole injection.In these devices,Fermi-level pinning,a phenomenon often observed in heterojunctions involving organic semiconductors,can take place in the hole-injection/hole-transporting interfaces.However,an in-depth understanding of the impacts of Fermi-level pinning at the hole-injection/hole-transporting interfaces on the operation and performance of QLEDs is still lacking.Here,we develop a set of NiOx HILs with controlled work functions of 5.2–5.9 eV to investigate QLEDs with Fermi-level pinning at the hole-injection/hole-transporting interfaces.The results show that despite that Fermi-level pinning induces identical apparent hole-injection barriers,the red QLEDs using HILs with higher work functions show improved efficiency roll-off and better operational stability.Remarkably,the devices using the NiOx HILs with a work function of 5.9 eV demonstrate a peak external quantum efficiency of~18.0%and a long T95 operational lifetime of 8,800 h at 1,000 cd·m^(−2),representing the best-performing QLEDs with inorganic HILs.Our work provides a key design principle for future developments of the hole-injection/hole-transporting interfaces of QLEDs.展开更多
Two new functional polyacetylenes bearing carbazole group as pendant, poly { 3-[(4-ethynylstyryl)-N-butyl] carbazole } (P1 ) and poly{3-14-(prop-2-ynyloxy)phenyl-N-butyl]carbazole}(P2), were prepared using [Rb...Two new functional polyacetylenes bearing carbazole group as pendant, poly { 3-[(4-ethynylstyryl)-N-butyl] carbazole } (P1 ) and poly{3-14-(prop-2-ynyloxy)phenyl-N-butyl]carbazole}(P2), were prepared using [Rb(nbd)Cl]2-Et3N as catalyst. The polymers were soluble in common organic solvents such as CHCl3 and THF. Their structures and properties were characterized and evaluated with FTIR, lit NMR, UV, TGA, GPC, and CV, respectively. The results show that the polymers possess high thermal stability and well hole-injection property.展开更多
