Based on the reanalysis data of global 500hPa geopotential height (NCEP NCAR CDAS-1) and tropical Pacific SSTs, the characteristics of global subtropical highs and their response to tropical eastern Pacific SST are investigated. Results show that global subtropical highs respond to SST consistently. Subtropical high intensity correlates to the 3 months leading SST maximally. The relationship between SST and 500hPa height stands out in low latitudes. The time for 500hPa height reaching maximuxn correlation to SST is 2 months later in latitude of 10 degree and 9 months in latitude of 30 degree than equatorial zone. And the response of atmospheric circulation over extratropic performs as wave train, and the response is more significant in the condition of warmer SST. Persistence of SSTs and subtropical highs changes obviously from season to season. Minimum persistence of subtropical highs in September and October may relate to the low persistence of SSTs in August and September. 展开更多

The effects of the sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in the tropical western Pacific on the atmospheric circulation anomalies over East Asia are simulated by the IAP-GCM with an observed and idealized distributions of the SST anomalies in the tropical western Pacific,respectively.Firstly,the atmospheric circulation anomalies during July and August,1980 are simulated by three anomalous experiments including the global SST anomaly experiment,the tropical SST anomaly experiment and the extratropical SST anomaly experiment,using the observed SST anomalies in 1980.It is shown that the SST anomalies in the tropical ocean greatly influence the formation and maintenance of the blocking high over the northeastern Asia,and may play a more important role than the SST anomalies in the extratropical ocean in the influence on the atmospheric circulation anomalies.Secondly,the effects of the SST anomalies in the tropical western Pacific on the atmospheric circulation anomalies over East Asia are also simulated with an idealized distribution of the SST anomalies in the tropical western Pacific.The simulated results show that the negative anomalies of SST in the tropical western Pacific have a significant effect on the formation and maintenance of the blocking high over the northeastern Asia. 展开更多

Previous work showed that some tropical cyclones (TCs) in the western Pacific Ocean undergo sudden track reversal, and the onset, maintenance and decay of blocking highs (BHs) coexisted with 19 of the studied TCs with sudden track reversal. In these cases, the phase relations between the BH, the continental high (CH), the subtropical high (SH) and the suddenly reversed TCs could be classified into types A, B, C and D. Types C and D were the focal point of this follow-up study, in which Typhoon Pabuk (2007) and Lupit (2009) were employed to conduct numerical simulations. The results showed that the reversed tracks of Pabuk (2007) and Lupit (2009) could have been affected by the BH, particularly in terms of the turning location and the trend of movement after turning. Specifically, the two main features for Pabuk (2007) in the BH perturbations were the deflection of its turning point and a distinct anticlockwise rotation. Lupit (2009) deviated to the southwest and finally made landfall in the Philippines, or experienced further eastward movement, in the perturbed BH. The impact mechanisms can be attributed to the change in the vorticity field transported from the BH, leading to an intensity variation of midlatitude systems. BHs may have a positive feedback effect on the strength of the westerly trough (TR), as indicated by a weakened and strengthened TR corresponding to negative and positive BH perturbations, respectively. 展开更多

Polymerflooding is an effective method widely applied for enhancing oil recovery(EOR)by reducing the mobility ratio between theinjected water and crude oil.However,traditional polymers encounter challenges in high salinity reservoirs due to their salt sensitivity.Toovercome this challenge,we synthesized a zwitterion polymer(PAMNS)with salt-induced tackifying property through copolymerization ofacrylamide and a zwitterion monomer,methylacrylamide propyl-N,N-dimethylbutylsulfonate(NS).NS monomer is obtained from thereaction between 1,4-butanesultone and dimethylamino propyl methylacrylamide.In this study,the rheological properties,salt responsiveness,and EOR efficiency of PAMNS were evaluated.Results demonstrate that PAMNS exhibits desirable salt-induced tackifyingcharacteristics,with viscosity increasing up to 2.4 times as the NaCl concentration reaches a salinity of 30×10^(4)mg L^(-1).Furthermore,highvalence ions possess a much stronger effect on enhancing viscosity,manifested as Mg^(2+)>Ca^(2+)>Na^(+).Molecular dynamics simulations(MD)andfluid dynamics experiment results demonstrate that PAMNS molecules exhibit a more stretched state and enhanced intermolecularassociations in high-salinity environments.It is because of the salt-induced tackifying,PAMNS demonstrates superior performance inpolymerflooding experiments under salinity ranges from 5×10^(4)mg L^(-1)to 20×10^(4)mg L^(-1),leading to 10.38–19.83%higher EOR thantraditional polymers. 展开更多

BACKGROUND High-sensitivity cardiac troponin(hs-cTn)levels are frequently elevated in elderly patients presenting to the emergency department for non-cardiac events.However,most studies on the role of elevated hs-cTn in elderly populations have investigated the prognostic value of hs-cTn in patients with a specific diagnosis or have assessed the relationship between hs-cTn and comorbidities.AIM To investigate the in-hospital prognosis of consecutive elderly patients admitted to the Internal Medicine Department with acute non-cardiac events and increased hs-cTnI levels.METHODS In this retrospective study,we selected patients who were aged≥65 years and admitted to the Internal Medicine Department of our hospital between January 2019 and December 2019 for non-cardiac reasons.Eligible patients were those who had hs-cTnI concentrations≥100 ng/L.We investigated the independent predictors of in-hospital mortality by multivariable logistic regression analysis.RESULTS One hundred and forty-six patients(59%female)were selected with an age range from 65 to 100(mean±SD:85.4±7.61)years.The median hs-cTnI value was 284.2 ng/L.For 72(49%)patients the diagnosis of hospitalization was an infectious disease.The overall in-hospital mortality was 32%(47 patients).Individuals who died did not have higher hs-cTnI levels compared with those who were discharged alive(median:314.8 vs 282.5 ng/L;P=0.565).There was no difference in mortality in patients with infectious vs non-infectious disease(29%vs 35%).Multivariable analysis showed that age(OR 1.062 per 1 year increase,95%CI:1.000-1.127;P=0.048)and creatinine levels(OR 2.065 per 1 mg/dL increase,95%CI:1.383-3.085;P<0.001)were the only independent predictors of death.Mortality was 49%in patients with eGFR<30 mL/min/1.73 m2.CONCLUSION Myocardial injury is a malignant condition in elderly patients admitted to the hospital for non-cardiac reasons.The presence of severe renal impairment is a marker of extremely high in-hospital mortality. 展开更多

According to the characteristics of complex terrain and bad geological conditions in the southwest mountainous area of China, it is proposed that cast-in situ double-block ballastless track with layers and blocks structure should be adopted preferentially in the subgrade section of high-speed railway, which is conducive to the construction, prolongation of service life and maintenance of the ballastless track. Based on the finite element model, the dynamic performance, structural strength and stability of double-block ballastless track under high earthquake-intensity action are analyzed. The analysis shows that the relative displacement between the base slab of ballastless track and the subgrade may occur under 9 degree earthquake action. A new CRTS double-block ballastless track structure with a concave-convex structure between the base slab and the subgrade is proposed in the subgrade section, and its additional stress and relative displacement under earthquake are analyzed. The results show that the additional stress and relative displacement of the new ballastless track structure and the subgrade under 9-degree earthquake actions are small, which meet the high stability requirements of high-speed railway. 展开更多

Based on the daily Japanese 55-yr reanalysis data,this study analyzes the maintenance mechanism for 53 boreal winter blocking highs around the Ural Mountains(UBHs)during 1958-2018 based on the atmospheric energy budget equations.After decomposing the circulation into background flow,low-frequency anomalies,and high-frequency eddies,it was found that the interaction between the background flow and low-frequency anomalies is conducive to the maintenance of the UBHs.Due to the southwestward gradient in the climatological mean air temperature over the Eurasian continent,it is easy for the air temperature anomalies as well as the wind velocity anomalies in the middle and lower troposphere induced by the UBHs to facilitate the positive conversion of baroclinic energy associated with the background flow into the UBHs.Likewise,the conversion of barotropic energy associated with the background flow is also evident in the upper troposphere,in which the climatological mean westerlies have evident southward gradient to the northwest of Lake Baikal and southwestward gradient over Barents Sea.Note that the conversion of baroclinic energy associated with the background flow is dominant throughout the lifecycle of UBHs,acting as the major contributor to the maintenance of the UBHs.Although transient eddies facilitate maintenance of the UBHs via positive conversion of barotropic energy in the middle and upper troposphere,they hinder the maintenance of UBHs via negative conversion of baroclinic energy in the lower troposphere.The diabatic heating anomalies tend to counteract the local air temperature anomalies in the middle and lower troposphere,which damps the available potential energy of UBHs and acts as a negative contributor to the UBHs. 展开更多

High-entropy materials(HEMs)have attracted considerable research attention in battery applications due to exceptional properties such as remarkable structural stability,enhanced ionic conductivity,superior mechanical strength,and outstanding catalytic activity.These distinctive characteristics render HEMs highly suitable for various battery components,such as electrodes,electrolytes,and catalysts.This review systematically examines recent advances in the application of HEMs for energy storage,beginning with fundamental concepts,historical development,and key definitions.Three principal categories of HEMs,namely high-entropy alloys,high-entropy oxides,and highentropy MXenes,are analyzed with a focus on electrochemical performance metrics such as specific capacity,energy density,cycling stability,and rate capability.The underlying mechanisms by which these materials enhance battery performance are elucidated in the discussion.Furthermore,the pivotal role of machine learning in accelerating the discovery and optimization of novel high-entropy battery materials is highlighted.The review concludes by outlining future research directions and potential breakthroughs in HEM-based battery technologies. 展开更多

The engineering application of low-alkali sulphoaluminate cement(L-SAC)is hindered due to the difficulty in adjusting the setting and hardening time.In this paper,lithium hydroxide and borax are mixed into L-SAC to regulate its setting and hardening process,so as to prepare a sulphoaluminate concrete material with high early strength and high fluidity.The effects of the ratio of lithium hydroxide to borax on the properties of L-SAC concrete were studied by hydration heat,XRD,TG-DTG,SEM and MIP.The experimental results show that the slump increases with the increase of borax content,and the early(3 h)strength increases with the increase of lithium hydroxide content.When 0.05% lithium hydroxide and 0.4% borax are added,the 0.5 h slump reaches 195 mm,and the 3 h compressive strength reaches 15.9 MPa.The increase of lithium hydroxide will promote the formation of early hydration products AFt and AH3 gel and accelerate the hydration process,while borax will inhibit the dissolution and hydration of cement and delay the setting and hardening process of concrete.The combination of the two ensures that the concrete has the characteristics of high early strength and high fluidity,and the early workability and mechanical properties can be controlled by the mix ratio.For long-term mechanical properties,the special concrete does not produce AFm,which can ensure the continuous development of strength. 展开更多

Aqueous zinc metal batteries(AZMBs)are promising candidates for renewable energy storage,yet their practical deployment in subzero environments remains challenging due to electrolyte freezing and dendritic growth.Although organic additives can enhance the antifreeze properties of electrolytes,their weak polarity diminishes ionic conductivity,and their flammability poses safety concerns,undermining the inherent advantages of aqueous systems.Herein,we present a cost-effective and highly stable Na_(2)SO_(4)additive introduced into a Zn(ClO_(4))2-based electrolyte to create an organic-free antifreeze electrolyte.Through Raman spectroscopy,in situ optical microscopy,densityfunctional theory computations,and molecular dynamics simulations,we demonstrate that Na+ions improve low-temperature electrolyte performance and mitigate dendrite formation by regulating uniform Zn^(2+)deposition through preferential adsorption and electrostatic interactions.As a result,the Zn||Zn cells using this electrolyte achieve a remarkable cycling life of 360 h at-40℃ with 61% depth of discharge,and the Zn||PANI cells retained an ultrahigh capacity retention of 91%even after 8000 charge/discharge cycles at-40℃.This work proposes a cost-effective and practical approach for enhancing the long-term operational stability of AZMBs in low-temperature environments. 展开更多

In the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence and robotics,their application scenarios are continuously expanding to a variety of complex environments,with increasing attention being paid to the use of flexible sensors in lowtemperature environments.In this study,an ionic hydrogel was synthesized using acrylamide(AM),hydroxyethyl cellulose(HEC),and lithium chloride(LiCl)as composites.This hydrogel exhibits high adhesion,excellent sensitivity(gauge factor(GF)=2.84),rapid response time(100 ms),exceptional stretch ability(>1776%),high toughness(2.5 MJ/m^(3)),and the ability to maintain detectability at low temperatures(-60℃).HEC imparts reliable mechanical properties to the sensor through hydrogen bonding interactions of its hydroxyl groups.LiCl ensures that the sensor has outstanding antifreezing properties,maintains good conductivity and mechanical performance.Used for robotic attitude detection,the sensor demonstrated accurate recognition of various joint movements at both 20 and -20℃.This technology was extended to industrial operations and maintenance,where a mechanical claw was used to grasp parts at both room temperature and low temperature.A convolutional neural network deep learning algorithm was employed to identify and classify eight types of parts,achieving an impressive recognition accuracy of 98.8%.The polyacrylamide(PAM)/HEC/LiCl hydrogel sensor demonstrates the capability for wide-temperature range detection in flexible robotics,holding significant potential for future applications in human-machine interaction,tactile perception,and related fields. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Due to the dry and cold climate,the obvious temperature difference between day and night,and the low oxygen content of the air in the plateau area,people are prone to upper respiratory tract diseases,and often the condition is prolonged,and the patients are prone to anxiety and uneasiness,which may be related to the harshness of the plateau environment,somatic discomfort due to the lack of oxygen,anxiety about the disease,and other factors.AIM To investigate the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT)on anxiety,sleep disorders,and hypoxia tolerance in patients with high-altitude respiratory diseases.METHODS A total of 2337 patients with high-altitude-related respiratory diseases treated at our hospital between November 2023 and January 2024 were selected as the study subjects.The subjects’pre-high-altitude residential altitude was approximately 1700 meters.They were divided into two groups.Both groups were given symptomatic treatment,and the control group implemented conventional nursing intervention,while the research group simultaneously conducted CBT intervention;assessed the degree of health knowledge of the two groups,and applied the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index to assess the anxiety and sleep quality of the patients before and after the intervention,respectively.It also observed the length and efficiency of sleep,and detected the level of serum hypoxia inducible factor-1α,erythropoietin(EPO)and clinical intervention before and after intervention.EPO levels,and investigated satisfaction with the clinical intervention.RESULTS The rate of excellent health knowledge in the intervention group was 93.64%,which was higher than that in the control group(74.23%;P<0.05).Before the intervention,there was no significant difference in Hamilton Anxiety Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores between the two groups(P>0.05),and after the intervention,the scores of the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in sleep duration and sleep efficiency between the groups before the intervention(P>0.05),and after the intervention,the scores of the study group were significantly larger than those of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in serum hypoxia inducible factor-1αand EPO between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05),and both research groups were significantly lower than the control group after intervention(P<0.05).According to the questionnaire survey,the intervention satisfaction of the study group was 95.53%,which was higher than that of the control group(80.14%;P<0.05).CONCLUSION The CBT intervention in the treatment of patients with high-altitude-related respiratory diseases helps improve patients'health knowledge,relieve anxiety,improve sleep quality and hypoxia tolerance,and improve nursing satisfaction. 展开更多

The electromagnetic wave absorption of silicon carbide nanowires is improved by their uniform and diverse cross-structures.This study introduces a sustainable and high value-added method for synthesizing silicon carbide nanowires using lignite and waste silicon powder as raw materials through carbothermal reduction.The staggered structure of nanowires promotes the creation of interfacial polarization,impedance matching,and multiple loss mechanisms,leading to enhanced electromagnetic absorption performance.The silicon carbide nanowires demonstrate outstanding electromagnetic absorption capabilities with the minimum reflection loss of-48.09 d B at10.08 GHz and an effective absorption bandwidth(the reflection loss less than-10 d B)ranging from 8.54 to 16.68 GHz with a thickness of 2.17 mm.This research presents an innovative approach for utilizing solid waste in an environmentally friendly manner to produce broadband silicon carbide composite absorbers. 展开更多
