This paper is concerned with the wave propagation behavior of rotating functionally graded(FG)temperature-dependent nanoscale beams subjected to thermal loading based on nonlocal strain gradient stress field.Uniform, linear and nonlinear temperature distributions across the thickness are investigated.Thermo-elastic properties of FG beam change gradually according to the Mori–Tanaka distribution model in the spatial coordinate. The nanobeam is modeled via a higher-order shear deformable refined beam theory which has a trigonometric shear stress function. The governing equations are derived by Hamilton’s principle as a function of axial force due to centrifugal stiffening and displacement. The solution of these equations is provided employing a Galerkin-based approach which has the potential to capture various boundary conditions.By applying an analytical solution and solving an eigenvalue problem, the dispersion relations of rotating FG nanobeam are obtained.Numerical results illustrate that various parameters including temperature change, angular velocity, nonlocality parameter, wave number and gradient index have significant effects on the wave dispersion characteristics of the nanobeam under study. The outcome of this study can provide beneficial information for the next-generation research and the exact design of nano-machines including nanoscale molecular bearings, nanogears, etc. 展开更多

Uncertainty is common in the life cycle of an aircraft, and Robust Aerodynamic Optimization(RAO) that considers uncertainty is important in aircraft design. To avoid the curse of dimensionality in surrogate-based optimization, this study proposes an adjoint RAO technique called “R-Opt”. Polynomial Chaos Expansion(PCE) is coupled with the R-Opt technique to quantify uncertainty in the responses of the target(including its mean and standard deviation). Only one process of PCE model construction is required in each iteration, and the gradients of uncertainty can be inferred via chain rules. The proposed method is more efficient than prevalent methods, and avoids the problem of a disagreement over the best PCE basis from among a number of PCE models(especially in case of sparse PCE). It also supports the application of sparse PCE.Two benchmark tests and two airfoil cases were used to verify R-Opt, and the optimal solutions were deemed to be robust. It improved the mean aerodynamic performance and reduced the standard deviation of the target. 展开更多

In the context of new risks and threats associated to nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) attacks, and given the shortcomings of certain analytical methods such as principal component analysis (PCA), a neural network approach seems to be more accurate. PCA consists in projecting the spectrum of a gas collected from a remote sensing system in, firstly, a three-dimensional space, then in a two-dimensional one using a model of Multi-Layer Perceptron based neural network. It adopts during the learning process, the back propagation algorithm of the gradient, in which the mean square error output is continuously calculated and compared to the input until it reaches a minimal threshold value. This aims to correct the synaptic weights of the network. So, the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) tends to be more efficient in the classification process. This paper emphasizes the contribution of the ANN method in the spectral data processing, classification and identification and in addition, its fast convergence during the back propagation of the gradient. 展开更多
