The flow past a square-section cylinder with a geometric disturbance is investigated by numerical simulations. The extra terms, due to the introduction of mapping transformation simulating the effect of disturbance into the transformed Navier-Stokes equations, are correctly derived, and the incorrect ones in the previous literature are pointed out and analyzed. Furthermore, the relationship between the vorticity, especially on the cylinder surface, and the disturbance is derived and explained theoretically. The computations are performed at two Reynolds numbers of 100 and 180 and three amplitudes of waviness of 0.006, 0.025 and 0.167 with another aim to explore the effects of different Reynolds numbers and disturbance on the vortex dynamics in the wake and forces on the body. Numerical results have shown that, at the mild waviness of 0.025, the Kairmain vortex shedding is suppressed completely for Re = 100, while the forced vortex dislocation is appeared in the near wake at the Reynolds number of 180. The drag reduction is up to 21.6% at Re = 100 and 25.7% at Re = 180 for the high waviness of 0.167 compared with the non-wavy cylinder. The lift and the Strouhal number varied with different Reynolds numbers and the wave steepness are also obtained. 展开更多

A strong analog classical simulation of general quantum evolution is proposed, which serves as a novel scheme in quantum computation and simulation. The scheme employs the approach of geometric quantum mechanics and quantum informational technique of quantum tomography, which applies broadly to cases of mixed states, nonunitary evolution, and infinite dimensional systems. The simulation provides an intriguing classical picture to probe quantum phenomena, namely, a coherent quantum dynamics can be viewed as a globally constrained classical Hamiltonian dynamics of a collection of coupled particles or strings. Efficiency analysis reveals a fundamental difference between the locality in real space and locality in Hilbert space, the latter enables efficient strong analog classical simulations. Examples are also studied to highlight the differences and gaps among various simulation methods. 展开更多

Two-photon fluorescence microscopy, based on the principles of two-photon excited fluorescence and second harmonic generation, enables real-time non-invasive in vivo imaging of skin and cells, providing a means to assess human health status. In this paper,a miniaturized two-photon imaging system is designed and fabricated to withstand extreme vibration and shock environments. The mechanical stability of the optical and structural components of the miniaturized probe is evaluated under random vibration and shock vibration tests using finite element simulation methods and ray tracing techniques.During the environmental testing, the maximum stress on the probe is 11.5 MPa,which is well below the threshold for structural failure. The largest structural displacement occurs at the collimator, where random vibrations produce an offset of 10.9μm.This offset is analyzed by using geometric optics and point spread functions.Under the maximum collimator offset, the theoretical resolution,as calculated by the point spread function, shifted from 463.28 nm to 463.48 nm.Additionally,a lateral offset of 127 nm is observed at the center position, which does not significantly impact the imaging performance. Finally, environmental and imaging performance tests are conducted. The system’s measured resolution after the environmental tests is 530 nm,consistent with its resolution prior to testing.Imaging tests are also performed on the skin’s stratum corneum, granular layer, spinous layer, and basal cell layer, revealing clear cellular structural information. These results confirm the device’s potential for applications in extreme shock and vibration environments. 展开更多
