The historicity of China's first state-level government(the Xia Dynasty),during which a Great Flood is claimed to have swept through the core of northern China,remains a well-known yet unresolved issue.Archaeologi...The historicity of China's first state-level government(the Xia Dynasty),during which a Great Flood is claimed to have swept through the core of northern China,remains a well-known yet unresolved issue.Archaeologists hypothesize a connection between the legendary events of the Xia Dynasty and archaeological discoveries in the Central China Plains cultural area,encompassing late Neolithic and Bronze Age cultures such as Henan's Longshan,Xinzhai,Erlitou,and Erligang.The authenticity of these speculations has been challenging to substantiate due to the lack of systematic evidence for the Great Flood in the middle to lower Yellow River(YR)Basin.In this paper,we present high-resolution hydrological environmental proxy data,sedimentological remains,and paleontological evidence from the central North China Plain.Our findings provide isochronous evidence of the termination of a hundred-year-long flood period dated to approximately 2080±216 BC,consistent with the observations from lower YR flood plain and marginal marine sediments.These findings both spatially and temporally overlap with the framework of the Great Flood described in the Chinese classics.The alignment between the geoscientific and archaeological evidence and the information in the Chinese classics provides robust confirmation that the Great Flood occurred in the middle to lower YR region during the late Longshan era.展开更多

Objective Great obstetrical syndrome(GOS)represents a group of pregnancy-related diseases that result in inadequate placentation.Most GOS cases end in preterm,either spontaneously or indicatively,and the use of antena...Objective Great obstetrical syndrome(GOS)represents a group of pregnancy-related diseases that result in inadequate placentation.Most GOS cases end in preterm,either spontaneously or indicatively,and the use of antenatal corticosteroids(ACS)is inevitably discussed.The placenta is an important,transient fetal-derived organ and is the embodiment of maternal or fetal well-being.However,few studies provide histological evidence of the placenta in GOS.This study aims to address these issues.Methods A total of 831 pregnant women were prospectively recruited.Placenta tissue was collected immediately and fixed with 4%paraformaldehyde solution for future H&E analysis.A novel checklist was devised to evaluate maternal vascular malperfusion sections on the basis of the commonly accepted Amsterdam placental workshop group consensus statement.Results A total of 131 patients were classified as having GOS.Comparisons between those with and without GOS revealed significant differences,including higher levels of distal villous hypoplasia,increased syncytial knots,accelerated villous maturation,and higher total scores in GOS.We found significant negative associations between GOS and neonatal weight,neonatal height,head circumference,placental surface area,placental volume,and placenta gross examination score.GOS neonates were 1.25 times more likely to have hyperbilirubinemia.Regarding the effect of ACS,a significant reduction in birthweight,height,and head circumference was observed,along with an increased risk of hyperbilirubinemia.Conclusion This study provides histological evidence of the GOS that supports the defective deep placentation hypothesis.Our research also contributes to benefit-risk consultation in the GOS,such as in cases of PE and FGR,where a balance between fetal lung maturation and short-term neonatal outcomes is crucial.展开更多
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided local anesthesia for endovenous laser combined with sclerotherapy in the treatment of varicose great saphenous veins.Methods:A total of 53...Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided local anesthesia for endovenous laser combined with sclerotherapy in the treatment of varicose great saphenous veins.Methods:A total of 53 patients with varicose great saphenous veins admitted to our hospital from December 2023 to June 2025 were selected and divided into a traditional surgery group(18 cases)and a laser combined with sclerotherapy group(35 cases)according to the surgical method.The venous clinical severity score(VCSS),chronic venous insufficiency quality of life questionnaire(CIVIQ)score,visual analog scale(VAS)score for pain,complication rate,surgical time,treatment cost,recovery time,and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups at 1 week,1 month,and 3 months postoperatively.Results:The VCSS scores of the laser group at each postoperative time point were lower than those of the traditional group,and the CIVIQ scores were higher than those of the traditional group(all p<0.05).The incidence of complications in the laser group(8.57%),the VAS score at 24 hours postoperatively,the duration of pain,and the utilization rate of analgesic medications were all significantly lower than those in the conventional group(all p<0.05).The laser group also demonstrated shorter operative and recovery times compared to the conventional group,along with higher patient satisfaction,albeit at a higher treatment cost(p<0.05).Conclusion:Endovenous laser combined with sclerotherapy under ultrasound guidance for the treatment of great saphenous vein varicosis offers advantages such as minimal trauma,rapid recovery,mild pain,and fewer complications,demonstrating significant clinical efficacy and good safety,thus possessing high clinical application value.展开更多

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries(CCTGA)is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by atrioventricular,ventriculoarterial,and conduction system discordance,commonly accompanied by atriov...Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries(CCTGA)is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by atrioventricular,ventriculoarterial,and conduction system discordance,commonly accompanied by atrioventricular block(AVB).Pacing in patients with CCTGA and AVB(both pediatric and adult)poses challenges in strategy selection,procedural complexity,and clinical decision-making due to limited evidence.Conventional morphological left ventricular pacing is widely adopted but may induce ventricular dyssynchrony,heart failure,and tricuspid valve dysfunction.While cardiac resynchronization therapy serves as an upgrade for pacing-induced cardiomyopathy and heart failure,its application may be limited by coronary sinus anatomical variations and uncertain clinical outcomes.His bundle pacing is rarely reported due to the variation of the His bundle and high pacing threshold.The superficial,wide,multi-branched left bundle branch favors left bundle branch pacing,though delayed systemic right ventricle(sRV)activation may cause ventricular dyssynchrony and impair sRV function.Right bundle branch pacing offers a novel alternative for pacing therapy.Conduction system pacing-optimized cardiac resynchronization therapy is preferred in those with evidence of intrinsic ventricular conduction dysfunction.This narrative review synthesizes current evidence on pacing strategies for CCTGA with AVB,integrating anatomical and pathophysiological insights to evaluate physiological pacing strategies,while highlighting critical knowledge gaps to guide future research.展开更多

Using the single- epoch precise point positioning (PPP) method an...Crustal deformation can provide constraints for studying earthquake rupture and shock wave transmission for the Mw9.0 eastern Japan great earthquake. Using the single- epoch precise point positioning (PPP) method and the appropriate positioning flow, we process GPS data from six IGS (International GNSS Service) sites (e.g., MIZU, TSK2, USUD, MTKA, AIRA and KSMV) located in Japan and obtain the positioning results with centimeter scale precision. The displacement time series of the six sites are analyzed using the least squares spectral analysis method to estimate deformations caused by the Mw9.0 mainshock and the Mw7.9 aftershock, and the cumulative displacements after 1 day. Mainshock displacements at station MIZU, the nearest site to the mainshock in the North (N), East (E), and Up (U) directions, are -1.202 m, 2.180 m and -0.104 m, respectively, and the cumulative deformations after 1 day are -1.117 m, 2.071 m and -0.072 m, respectively. The displacements at station KSMV, the nearest site to the Mw7.9 aftershock in the N, E and U directions, are -0.032 m, 0.742 m and -0.345 m, respectively. The other sites obviously experienced eastern movements and subsidence. The deformation vectors indicate that the horizontal displacements caused by the earthquake point to the epicenter and rupture. Elastic bounds evidently took place at all sites. The results indicate that the crustal movements and earthquake were part of a megathrust caused by the Pacific Plate sinking under the North American Plate to the northeast of Japan island arc.展开更多

The results showed: the Great Bustard is a kind of premature bird and its birth weight was 86.31?.56g (N=21); environmental temperature for the neonatal nestlings should be controlled at 36C; the feeding principle having many meals but little food at each for the nestlings should be followed; since six weeks after birth, nestlings of both gender began to show significant difference in body weight, the weight of male was 1.8 times of that of the female after fourteenth week, and by weight and body figure sexual identity could be easily discerned when 3 or 4 months old; There is no significant difference in growth and development of all organs between male and female nestlings and organ growth curves were fit into Logistic equation.展开更多

Opportunistic foraging strategies, referring to shorebirds consuming prey in proportion to their availability, allow shorebirds to replenish fuel and nutrient reserves efficiently for continuing their migration. Chongming Dongtan, located in the Yangtze River estuary of eastern China, is the first major stopover site of shorebirds on the Chinese mainland during their northward migration. We investigated the diet of Great Knots (Calidris tenuirostris) at Chongming Dongtan during the spring stopovers of 2009 and 2010 through benthos sampling and dropping analysis. The benthos samples were categorized into gastropods, bivalves, polychaetes, crustaceans and insect larvae. Dropping analysis indicated that gastropods and bivalves constituted more than 70% of the diet of the Great Knot, with Assiminea violacea and Corbicula fluminea being the most frequently consumed. Chi-square tests indicated that for each prey category, there was no significant difference between the frequency of its occurrence in the benthos samples and dropping samples during the early stopover periods of 2009 and 2010 and during the late stopover periods of 2010. Although there was a statistically significant difference between the frequency of occurrence of prey in the total macrobenthos and in the droppings of the Great Knots during the late stopover period in 2009, the more abundant prey were more frequently consumed by the Great Knots. This suggests that Great Knots adopted an opportunistic foraging strategy during their stopover at Chongming Dongtan.展开更多

文摘Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided local anesthesia for endovenous laser combined with sclerotherapy in the treatment of varicose great saphenous veins.Methods:A total of 53 patients with varicose great saphenous veins admitted to our hospital from December 2023 to June 2025 were selected and divided into a traditional surgery group(18 cases)and a laser combined with sclerotherapy group(35 cases)according to the surgical method.The venous clinical severity score(VCSS),chronic venous insufficiency quality of life questionnaire(CIVIQ)score,visual analog scale(VAS)score for pain,complication rate,surgical time,treatment cost,recovery time,and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups at 1 week,1 month,and 3 months postoperatively.Results:The VCSS scores of the laser group at each postoperative time point were lower than those of the traditional group,and the CIVIQ scores were higher than those of the traditional group(all p<0.05).The incidence of complications in the laser group(8.57%),the VAS score at 24 hours postoperatively,the duration of pain,and the utilization rate of analgesic medications were all significantly lower than those in the conventional group(all p<0.05).The laser group also demonstrated shorter operative and recovery times compared to the conventional group,along with higher patient satisfaction,albeit at a higher treatment cost(p<0.05).Conclusion:Endovenous laser combined with sclerotherapy under ultrasound guidance for the treatment of great saphenous vein varicosis offers advantages such as minimal trauma,rapid recovery,mild pain,and fewer complications,demonstrating significant clinical efficacy and good safety,thus possessing high clinical application value.
文摘The African Great Green Wall Initiative(GGWI)is an ambitious transcontinental program aimed at halting desertification,restoring degraded lands,and improving livelihoods across the Sahel region.Despite its transformative vision,the initiative has encountered technical,financial,and governance challenges.In recent years,China’s involvement-drawing from its extensive experience with the Three-North Shelterbelt Program and integrated desertification control-has introduced a new model of South-South cooperation.Through adaptive technologies,capacity building,and co-developed community-based strategies in Mauritania,Ethiopia,and Nigeria,Chinese partners have provided tangible contributions to Africa’s ecological restoration.This article documents these collaborative stories and argues that China’s ecological governance framework is shaping a new paradigm for global environmental development.
文摘Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries(CCTGA)is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by atrioventricular,ventriculoarterial,and conduction system discordance,commonly accompanied by atrioventricular block(AVB).Pacing in patients with CCTGA and AVB(both pediatric and adult)poses challenges in strategy selection,procedural complexity,and clinical decision-making due to limited evidence.Conventional morphological left ventricular pacing is widely adopted but may induce ventricular dyssynchrony,heart failure,and tricuspid valve dysfunction.While cardiac resynchronization therapy serves as an upgrade for pacing-induced cardiomyopathy and heart failure,its application may be limited by coronary sinus anatomical variations and uncertain clinical outcomes.His bundle pacing is rarely reported due to the variation of the His bundle and high pacing threshold.The superficial,wide,multi-branched left bundle branch favors left bundle branch pacing,though delayed systemic right ventricle(sRV)activation may cause ventricular dyssynchrony and impair sRV function.Right bundle branch pacing offers a novel alternative for pacing therapy.Conduction system pacing-optimized cardiac resynchronization therapy is preferred in those with evidence of intrinsic ventricular conduction dysfunction.This narrative review synthesizes current evidence on pacing strategies for CCTGA with AVB,integrating anatomical and pathophysiological insights to evaluate physiological pacing strategies,while highlighting critical knowledge gaps to guide future research.

文摘The Great Green Wall(GGW)initiatives are among the most ambitious endeavors in addressing global ecological challenges.Currently two prominent examples have emerged across two transcontinental arid landscapes.One is China's“Three-North Shelterbelt Program”,which formally began in 1978.Spanning 13 provinces,it aims to combat desertification in the north and northwestern regions of the country,where8 major deserts and 4 sandy lands are located,by restoring forest and grass cover and establishing a protective shelterbelt system(Zhu and Song,2021).
文摘Colonic anastomotic leakage(AL)remains the most severe complication of colorectal surgery,significantly increasing morbidity,mortality,and healthcare burdens.The ideal solution-complete AL prevention without a defunctioning stoma-has long eluded surgeons and patients.Hu et al proposed total enteric flow diversion using a modified ileostomy tube with an inflatable balloon,demonstrating its efficacy in completely preventing AL in porcine models.This innovation echoes the ancient legend of Yu the Great,a Chinese hero renowned for taming the Yellow River’s catastrophic floods.Unlike his father,who failed by merely building embankments to block water,Yu succeeded by dredging channels to redirect floods seaward.This paradigm of“diversion over obstruction”applies equally to AL prevention.Beyond Hu et al’s balloon technique,alternatives like the C-seal,the SafeHeal Colovac+anastomosis protection device and Tong et al’s biodegradable stent-based diverting techniques show promise in clinical trials.Key challenges remain:Diversion efficiency,device migration risks,and patient tolerance.We must accelerate such like breakthroughs in non-stoma diversion strategies to transform AL management.
文摘The African continent habituated with volatile conflicts and protracted violence,be it intra-state or inter-state is also acquainted with multi-ethnic tensions breeding different militias.The trend,although not new,is the expanding phenomenon of Jihadism and general terrorism.Some of these and other forms of conflicts summarize the geopolitics of Africa’s Great Lakes Region(AGLR).The bloodbath wherein the subregion engrosses itself is not solely guided by political considerations.Both endogenous and exogenous capitalist economic profit have stirred the system while ethnic politics and politics on ethnic leanings have amplified the scenario.The endeavors of both the international community and regional blocs appear deficient-a consequence of the frailty of the UN system and general multilateralism.Peace is possible for AGLR when humanity is placed over the tidal wave of capitalist profit,patriotism over toxic ethnicity and respect is accorded to international jurisprudence emblemed by the bona fide principle of pacta sunt Servanda,without neglecting the capacity of the youth and peace education.
文摘The relationship between heaven and humanity is one of the fundamental philosophical foundations of ecological ethics in ancient Chinese Confucian thought.As a master of Confucian philosophy of mind,Wang Yangming integrated the traditional Confucian discourse on the relationship between heaven and humanity into the principles of the philosophy of mind.Building on the traditional doctrine of benevolence centered on moral concern,he further developed an ecological view of‘benevolence as the unity of heaven and earth’.In his work Inquiry on the Great Learning,Wang Yangming systematically elaborated on this notion,emphasizing the philosophical expression of the relationship between humans and nature within an ethical framework and outlining the new implications of traditional Confucian ecological thought.This paper aims to analyze Wang Yangming’s ecological view of‘benevolence as the unity of heaven and earth’by examining the ecological ideas in his Inquiry on the Great Learning.On this basis,it seeks to refine the valuable achievements of traditional Chinese ecological civilization thought and strengthen the theoretical foundation of contemporary ecological ideas with Chinese characteristics.

文摘Crustal deformation can provide constraints for studying earthquake rupture and shock wave transmission for the Mw9.0 eastern Japan great earthquake. Using the single- epoch precise point positioning (PPP) method and the appropriate positioning flow, we process GPS data from six IGS (International GNSS Service) sites (e.g., MIZU, TSK2, USUD, MTKA, AIRA and KSMV) located in Japan and obtain the positioning results with centimeter scale precision. The displacement time series of the six sites are analyzed using the least squares spectral analysis method to estimate deformations caused by the Mw9.0 mainshock and the Mw7.9 aftershock, and the cumulative displacements after 1 day. Mainshock displacements at station MIZU, the nearest site to the mainshock in the North (N), East (E), and Up (U) directions, are -1.202 m, 2.180 m and -0.104 m, respectively, and the cumulative deformations after 1 day are -1.117 m, 2.071 m and -0.072 m, respectively. The displacements at station KSMV, the nearest site to the Mw7.9 aftershock in the N, E and U directions, are -0.032 m, 0.742 m and -0.345 m, respectively. The other sites obviously experienced eastern movements and subsidence. The deformation vectors indicate that the horizontal displacements caused by the earthquake point to the epicenter and rupture. Elastic bounds evidently took place at all sites. The results indicate that the crustal movements and earthquake were part of a megathrust caused by the Pacific Plate sinking under the North American Plate to the northeast of Japan island arc.
文摘Growth indicators including weight, body length, wings length, tail length, tarsus, gape, the third toe and head width of 21 nestlings of Great Bustard (Otis tarda) were measured and investigated in Harbin Zoo, Harbin, China during 1999-2002, and methods on successfully fostering nestlings of the bird were also summarized in this article. The results showed: the Great Bustard is a kind of premature bird and its birth weight was 86.31?.56g (N=21); environmental temperature for the neonatal nestlings should be controlled at 36C; the feeding principle having many meals but little food at each for the nestlings should be followed; since six weeks after birth, nestlings of both gender began to show significant difference in body weight, the weight of male was 1.8 times of that of the female after fourteenth week, and by weight and body figure sexual identity could be easily discerned when 3 or 4 months old; There is no significant difference in growth and development of all organs between male and female nestlings and organ growth curves were fit into Logistic equation.

文摘Variable and unpredictable food resources at stopover sites bring severe challenges to migrating shorebirds. Opportunistic foraging strategies, referring to shorebirds consuming prey in proportion to their availability, allow shorebirds to replenish fuel and nutrient reserves efficiently for continuing their migration. Chongming Dongtan, located in the Yangtze River estuary of eastern China, is the first major stopover site of shorebirds on the Chinese mainland during their northward migration. We investigated the diet of Great Knots (Calidris tenuirostris) at Chongming Dongtan during the spring stopovers of 2009 and 2010 through benthos sampling and dropping analysis. The benthos samples were categorized into gastropods, bivalves, polychaetes, crustaceans and insect larvae. Dropping analysis indicated that gastropods and bivalves constituted more than 70% of the diet of the Great Knot, with Assiminea violacea and Corbicula fluminea being the most frequently consumed. Chi-square tests indicated that for each prey category, there was no significant difference between the frequency of its occurrence in the benthos samples and dropping samples during the early stopover periods of 2009 and 2010 and during the late stopover periods of 2010. Although there was a statistically significant difference between the frequency of occurrence of prey in the total macrobenthos and in the droppings of the Great Knots during the late stopover period in 2009, the more abundant prey were more frequently consumed by the Great Knots. This suggests that Great Knots adopted an opportunistic foraging strategy during their stopover at Chongming Dongtan.

Moreover, it is also the best means of protecting great relics ever found. Taking landscape planning of the front hall relics of the Weiyang Palace, relics of the front hall was believed to have great scientific value, so its environmental renovation and improvement should be based on scientific landscape planning, the whole relics should be protected and displayed scientifically and completely, landscape elements introduced as the effective texture by applying ecological patterns according to actual conditions, new techniques favorable for the protection and scientific research of relics adopted to provide a new strategy for the construction of great ruins park in China.
