Recently, the structural fuse has become an important issue in the field of earthquake engineering. Due to the trilinearity of the pushover curve of buildings with metallic structural fuses, the mechanism of the structural fuse is investigated through the ductility equation of a single-degree-of-freedom system, and the corresponding damage-reduction spectrum is proposed to design and retrofit buildings. Furthermore, the controlling parameters, the stiffness ratio between the main frame and structural fuse and the ductility factor of the main frame, are parametrically studied, and it is shown that the structural fuse concept can be achieved by specific combinations of the controlling parameters based on the proposed damage-reduction spectrum. Finally, a design example and a retrofit example, variations of real engineering projects after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design procedures using buckling restrained braces as the structural fuses. 展开更多

Bridges designed following a conventional approach minimize the risk of collapse,but often require challenging,costly,and time-consuming restoration after an earthquake occurs.The new seismic design philosophy requires bridges to maintain functionality even after severe earthquakes.In this context,this paper proposes a controlled rocking pile foundation(CRPF)system and numerically evaluates bridges′degree of seismic resilience.The CRPF system allows a pile cap to rock on a pile foundation and dissipate seismic energy through inelastic deformations of replaceable bar fuses that connect a pile cap and piles.Following the conceptual design of the CRPF system,two analytical models were developed for a bridge pier utilizing the CRPF system and a pier designed to develop a plastic hinge in its column.The analytical results indicate that,after experiencing a severe earthquake,a conventionally designed bridge pier sustained substantial damage in its column and exhibited significant residual displacement.In contrast,a pier using the CRPF system showed negligible residual displacement and maintained elastic behavior except,as expected,for bar fuses.The damaged fuses can be rapidly replaced to recover bridge seismic resistance following an earthquake.Therefore,the CRPF system helps to achieve the desired postearthquake performance objectives. 展开更多

A new remedy is proposed in this study to increase the ductility of cross-braced frames to a level comparable with ductile moment frames.The suggested system consists of one or two concentric steel rings installed in the cross-braced bay vertically.The steel rings are designed such that they fail in bending sooner than failure of the braces in compression.Then the rings act as seismic fuses with multiple bending plastic hinges.Using nonlinear static analysis,it is shown that the proposed system can be designed to behave like cross-braced frames with regard to stiffness and strength,and like special moment frames with regard to ductility.Seismic design factors for the proposed system are recommended based on nonlinear pushover and cyclic analysis studies. 展开更多

声学超材料在中低频噪声控制中的优势受到广泛关注,而实际应用环境对其结构承载性能提出了更高要求。本研究通过将点阵增强结构中的板格结构引入亥姆霍兹共振腔,设计出通风消声承载超材料(Ventilated acoustic attenuation-bearing meta... 声学超材料在中低频噪声控制中的优势受到广泛关注,而实际应用环境对其结构承载性能提出了更高要求。本研究通过将点阵增强结构中的板格结构引入亥姆霍兹共振腔,设计出通风消声承载超材料(Ventilated acoustic attenuation-bearing metamaterial,VAABM)。VAABM样品由熔融沉积成型技术(Fused deposition modeling,FDM)技术制备,其低频消声性能由传递矩阵法进行计算,并通过有限元仿真和声阻抗管测试得到验证。结果表明,其在674 Hz和1078 Hz的传递损失分别达21.3 dB和33.8 dB,在642~1600 Hz频段传递损失大于10 dB。并对超材料关键结构的几何参数对VAABM的消声性能的影响进行了研究,其消声性能主要来自共振效应。此外,还讨论了VAABM的力学性能,并且对比了其和两种经典TPMS结构的力学性能,结果表明,VAABM的承载能力和尺寸稳定性更加优越。VAABM的多功能化使其在管道噪声控制领域具有广阔的应用前景。 展开更多

针对航空航天低频噪音问题,将微穿孔板(Microperforated plate,MPP)和三周期极小曲面(Triply periodic minimal surface,TPMS)进行复合设计获得MPP-TPMS夹芯结构,实现了对中低频噪声的高效吸声,同时保持了轻量化与紧凑性优势。选用TPMS... 针对航空航天低频噪音问题,将微穿孔板(Microperforated plate,MPP)和三周期极小曲面(Triply periodic minimal surface,TPMS)进行复合设计获得MPP-TPMS夹芯结构,实现了对中低频噪声的高效吸声,同时保持了轻量化与紧凑性优势。选用TPMS结构中的Primitive结构作为结构芯材,可通过设计穿孔板-腔体单元,形成亥姆霍兹共振器阵列。基于微穿孔板吸声理论和Johnson-Champoux-Allard等效流体理论,建立MPP-Primitive夹芯结构的吸声理论模型,探究局部共振效应和热粘滞耗散机制在声波衰减中的耦合作用。利用熔融沉积成型(Fused deposition modeling,FDM)技术制备样品,采用声阻抗管测试和有限元仿真,探究了微穿孔板、Primitive单元体尺寸、腔体厚度、MPP孔径对吸声特性的影响。结果表明,MPP结构与TPMS结构的组合设计,激活了结构中亥姆霍兹共振腔吸声机制,大幅提升吸声特性,吸声频带向低频区域移动,吸声峰值接近1;通过增大Primitive单元体尺寸,有效扩张共振腔体积,降低低频声阻抗,增强与低频声波声阻抗匹配,从而提升低频声波吸收效率;通过减小MPP孔径,使吸声峰峰值得到提升并向低频迁移;增加Primitive腔体厚度,延长声波传播路径,通过增强粘滞耗散与热传导效应将亥姆霍兹共振峰向低频迁移。这项工作为亚波长低频吸声MPP-TPMS复合吸声超材料制备提供了设计参考。 展开更多

Research on the effects of the amount of fillers in the form of fused alumina,mullite,and tabular alumina,zirconium-containing and silica-containing components of the batches in the form of zircon and silica sand on the properties of alumina-zirconia-silicate(AZS)refractories was conducted.It was found that the introduction of 16%zircon into the composition of samples with fillers such as fused alumina and mullite,as well as tabular alumina,results in an increase in their density,strength,and thermal shock resistance.Petrographic studies have revealed the formation of a multiphase,microcracked structure in these samples,which accounts for the improvement in their properties.The optimal composition of a batch containing a filler of tabular alumina,a finely dispersed matrix ofα-alumina,16%zircon,and 7%silica sand has been determined,which ensures the production of AZS refractories with high bulk density,cold crushing strength,and thermal shock resistance.Research on the plastic strength of the structure of optimal composition AZS mass,depending on its storage time,was conducted.It was found that up to 24 h of storage,the mass is characterized by low plastic strength.It indicates its suitability for use in the vibration casting technology of products.Storage of the mass for more than 24 h leads to an increase in the plastic strength of its structure,which reaches a maximum after 56 h of storage.The developed composition of the batch is recommended for the manufacture of AZS crucibles for induction melting of heat-resistant alloys. 展开更多

The use of additive manufacturing techniques in the development of unconventional materials can help reduce the environmental impact of traditional construction materials.In this paper,the properties of a 3D-printed biocomposite were evaluated.Biofilaments obtained by mixing pulverized bamboo fibers with polylactic acid(PLA)resin were extruded during the manufacturing process.To assess the effect of incorporating plant fibers,an analysis was conducted on the morphology,elemental chemical composition,crystallinity index,principal functional groups,thermal stability,surface roughness,microhardness,density,tensile strength,elastic modulus,and strain percentage of reinforced samples.The results were comparedwith those obtained from the characterization of standard PLAfilaments(unreinforced).The fused deposition modeling(FDM)technique was employed to print biocomposite specimens.Additionally,the influence of the printing parameters(infill density,build orientation,and layer thickness)on the physical,tribological,andmechanical properties of the biocomposites was analyzed.These results were compared with those obtained for specimens printed with pure PLA.The findings indicate that incorporating 10%vegetable filler into PLA filaments enhanced the strength and stiffness of the biocomposite under axial loads.Finally,the strength of the biocomposite subjected to axial loads was compared with the standardized values for wood-plastic composites,demonstrating the feasibility of its use for non-structural purposes in civil construction. 展开更多

High-temperature performance of silica ceramic cores with additives prepared by stereolithography 3D printing

Ceramic cores are key to forming a cooling structure within the hollow blade cavities.The use of stereolithography(SL)3D printing technology eliminates the need for moulds,facilitating the preparation of complex-shaped ceramic cores.In this study,silica-based ceramic cores incorporating nano-3YSZ(3mol.% yttria stabilised zirconia)and micron-sized Y_(2)O_(3) were prepared via SL 3D printing ceramic technology to promote the formation of cristobalite and ZrSiO_(4),thereby improving the high-temperature properties.The flexural strength at 25℃ and 1,500℃,deflection at 1,500℃,shrinkage rate,and porosity of the core samples sintered at different temperatures(1,170℃,1,185℃,1,200℃,1,215℃,and 1,230℃)were tested and investigated.The mechanism underlying the high temperature performance of the cores was elucidated through analysis of cross-sectional morphology,element distribution,and phase constitution of the samples.As the sintering temperature increases,the shrinkage and flexural strength at 25℃ of the core rise,while the open porosity and deflection at 1,500℃ decrease.When the sintering temperature reaches 1,200℃ or higher,the 1,500℃ flexural strength can be measured,which increases as the sintering temperature rises.The core exhibits excellent creep resistance when sintered at temperatures of 1,200℃ and above.Considering the comprehensive performance requirements for the core,the sintering temperature of 1,200℃ was selected.At the sintering temperature of 1,200℃,the core exhibits shrinkage rates of 3.76%(X),3.38%(Y),and 3.95%(Z),alongside a flexural strength of 9.01 MPa at 25℃ and 32.15 MPa at 1,500℃,and an open porosity of 26.39%.The deflection of the core at 1,500℃ is 0.15 mm,which helps to maintain the dimensional stability of the ceramic core during casting.XRD results indicate that samples fractured after 25℃ flexural strength test still contain amorphous quartz glass,alongside substantial quantities of yttria stabilized zirconia and Y_(2)O_(3).Samples fractured after 1,500℃ flexural strength test exhibit significant crystallisation of amorphous quartz glass into cristobalite,with silica and 3YSZ combining to form ZrSiO_(4).Y_(2)O_(3) as a network modifier of the glass network destroys the bridging oxygen in the silica-oxygen bond,thereby reducing the energy required for glass crystallisation and promoting the crystallisation reaction of quartz glass to form cristobalite.In addition,nano-3YSZ combines with SiO_(2) at high temperatures to form ZrSiO_(4).Since cristobalite and ZrSiO_(4) are crystals,both of them have strong creep resistance,thus improving the high temperature flexural strength and deformation resistance of the ceramic cores. 展开更多

Fused silica(SiO_(2)glass),a key amorphous component of Earth’s silicate minerals,undergoes coordination and phase transformations under high pressure.Although extensive studies have been conducted,discrepancies between theoretical and experimental studies remain,particularly regarding strain rate effects during compression.Here,we examine strain rate influences on the shock-induced amorphous–amorphous phase transitions in fused silica by measuring its Hugoniot equation of state and longitudinal sound velocity(CL)up to 7 GPa at strain rates of 10^(6)–10^(7)s^(-1)using a one-stage light-gas gun.A discontinuity in the relationship between shock velocity(US)and particle velocity(UP)and a significant softening in C_(L)of fused silica were observed near~5 GPa under shock loading.Our results indicate that high strain rates restrict Si–O–Si rotation in fused silica,modifying their bonds and increasing silicon coordination.The transition pressure by shock compression is significantly higher than that under static high-pressure conditions(2–3 GPa),which agrees with some recent theoretical predictions with high compression rates,reflecting the greater pressure needed to overcome energy barriers with the strain rate increase.These findings offer insights into strain rate-dependent phase transitions in fused silica and other silicate minerals(e.g.,quartz,olivine,and forsterite),bridging gaps between theoretical simulations and experiments. 展开更多

Balanced Optimization of Dimensional Accuracy and Printing Efficiency in FDM Based on Data-Driven Modeling

Additive manufacturing(AM),particularly fused deposition modeling(FDM),has emerged as a transformative technology in modern manufacturing processes.The dimensional accuracy of FDM-printed parts is crucial for ensuring their functional integrity and performance.To achieve sustainable manufacturing in FDM,it is necessary to optimize the print quality and time efficiency concurrently.However,owing to the complex interactions of printing parameters,achieving a balanced optimization of both remains challenging.This study examines four key factors affecting dimensional accuracy and print time:printing speed,layer thickness,nozzle temperature,and bed temperature.Fifty parameter sets were generated using enhanced Latin hypercube sampling.A whale optimization algorithm(WOA)-enhanced support vector regression(SVR)model was developed to predict dimen-sional errors and print time effectively,with non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm Ⅲ(NSGA-Ⅲ)utilized for multi-objective optimization.The technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)was applied to select a balanced solution from the Pareto front.In experimental validation,the parts printed using the optimized parameters exhibited excellent dimensional accuracy and printing efficiency.This study comprehensively considered optimizing the printing time and size to meet quality requirements while achieving higher printing efficiency and aiding in the realization of sustainable manufacturing in the field of AM.In addition,the printing of a specific prosthetic component was used as a case study,highlighting the high demands on both dimensional precision and printing efficiency.The optimized process parameters required significantly less printing time,while satisfying the dimensional accuracy requirements.This study provides valuable insights for achieving sustainable AM using FDM. 展开更多

Transparent sand is a special material to realize visualization of concealed work in geotechnical engineering. To investigate the dynamic characteristics of transparent sand, a series of undrained cyclic simple shear tests were conducted on the saturated transparent sand composed of fused quartz and refractive index-matched oil mixture. The results reveal that an increase in the initial shear stress ratio significantly affects the shape of the hysteresis loop, particularly resulting in more pronounced asymmetrical accumulation. Factors such as lower relative density, higher cyclic stress ratios and higher initial shear stress ratio have been shown to accelerate cyclic deformation, cyclic pore water pressure and stiffness degradation. The cyclic liquefaction resistance curves decrease as the initial shear stress ratio increases or as relative density decreases. Booker model and power law function model were applied to predict the pore water pressure for transparent sand. Both models yielded excellent fits for their respective condition, indicating a similar dynamic liquefaction pattern to that of natural sands. Finally, transparent sand displays similar dynamic characteristics in terms of cyclic liquefaction resistance and Kα correction factor. These comparisons indicate that transparent sand can serve as an effective means to mimic many natural sands in dynamic model tests. 展开更多

To address this gap, we employed neutron diffraction to measure the residual stresses in the sFTC/NAB composite surface deposits and re-melted NAB samples produced via laser melt injection. Significant residual stresses were determined. The maximum tensile macro residual stress appears approximately 1-1.5 mm below the composite layer. Residual stresses accumulate with an increasing number of laser process tracks. The maximum tensile macro residual stress in the three-track samples reaches about 350 MPa. Preheating the base plate significantly reduces the levels of macroscopic residual stress. The WC phase displayed significant compressive thermal misfit residual stress magnitude, while the Cu matrix exhibited tensile thermal misfit residual stress. Preheating the base plate does not reduce microscopic thermal misfit residual stress levels. In addition, a finite element model was built to investigate temperature and residual stresses in the re-melted NAB samples. The predicted temperature history and residual stress agree with the experimental results. 展开更多

Intrusion detection(ID)is a cyber security practice that encompasses the process of monitoring network activities to identify unauthorized or malicious actions.This includes problems like the difficulties of existing intrusion detection models to identify emerging attacks,generating many false alarms,and their inability and difficulty to adapt themselves with time when it comes to threats,hence to overcome all those existing challenges in this research develop a Prairie Araneida optimization based fused Convolutional Neural Network model(PAO-CNN)for intrusion detection.The fused CNN(Convolutional Neural Netowrk)is a remarkable development since it combines statistical features that are extracted from the processed data and provide enhanced capabilities for the model to capture complicated patterns existing in intrusion datasets.The adoption of a fused architecture represents an integrated way towards intrusion detection where the model can significantly interpret various features to achieve higher accuracy.On top of this,the Prairie Araneida stage which is based on coyote behavior and social spider colonies respectively plays a role in enabling to handling of intricate optimization landscapes.The dual contribution of a fused CNN and novel optimization strategies strengthens the research’s goal to design an effective intrusion detection system that can evolve with new cyber threats.When the Training percentage(TP)is set to 90,the model’s performance can be assessed using metrics like Accuracy,Sensitivity,and Specificity.In this particular dataset,these metrics reach approximately 97.78%,96.25%,and 96.15%,respectively,which are crucial values.Additionally,when using a k-fold value of 6,the model achieves metrics of 97.04%Accuracy,97.37%Sensitivity,and 96.48%Specificity. 展开更多

Acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene(ABS)is the main material used in fused deposition modeling(FDM),which has good toughness and strength,but the single ABS material has poor heat resistance,which tends to cause warping and deformation during the printing process.Polycarbonate(PC)exhibits good performance in heat resistance,allowing it to maintain stable performance at higher temperatures.In this work,PC was used as a blending modifier to prepare five kinds of ABS/PC composite filaments,and the mechanical and thermal properties of the ABS/PC(Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene/Polycarbonate)composite filaments were studied and analyzed.Results showed that the glass transition temperature(Tg)of the blend increased continuously as the PC content increased.When the mass fraction of ABS/PC was 50/50,the glass transition temperature of the blend increased by 21.21%,and the tensile strength of the composites reached 40.23 MPa,which was an increase of 36.47% compared with that of pure ABS.However,the impact strength of the composites decreased with the addition of PC.Moreover,with the increase in the mass fraction of PC,the printing accuracy error increased from 0.02 to 0.18 mm.The results of this paper will promote the improvement of ABS printing performance and enrich the available materials for FDM. 展开更多
