One of the exportation requirements is that pitayas, as well as any other tropical fruits, have to be free from Mexican fruit fly contamination and certified by the Food National Sanitary, Iniquity, and Quality Service. This review proved that this fruit is not attacked by the Mexican fruit fly <i>A. ludens</i> or any other Anastrepha species.
