Topological analysis of the depression-anxiety-stress network in vocational college freshmen:A longitudinal trace-based analysis

This study explores the core characteristics,dynamic progression of the depression-anxiety-stress network among Chinese higher vocational college freshmen and its association with life satisfaction,and identifies key nodes and critical intervention points.Participants were 295 higher vocational college freshmen(male=137;M=18.52,SD=0.69)completing two follow-up surveys(5-month interval).Measures included depression-anxiety-stress symptoms and life satisfaction,analyzed via cross-sectional and binary cross-lagged panel network analysis.The results showed that“Easily agitated”was the central node(strength=1.519,EI=1.967);“Irritable”and“Mouth Dryness”were top predictors(Out-EI=1.101,1.100),with depressive symptoms as the convergence hub.“Easily agitated”had the strongest direct negative impact on life satisfaction(cross-cluster out-predictability=−0.653).This study elucidates depression-anxietystress network mechanisms in higher vocational freshmen,providing a theoretical framework and targeted intervention guidance(e.g.,focusing on somatic and emotional nodes). 展开更多

KAP study on reproductive health among medical freshmen:a survey of AIDS related knowledge and attitudes and their implications

Objectives: To study AIDS related knowledge and attitudes among medical freshmen, and to find out their opinions regarding the implementation of AIDS prevention and education programs in colleges and middle schools. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted in June 1997 among 266 medical freshmen in Shanghai (aged 16--23, 130 males and 136 females). Results: The results show that students have some knowledge about AIDS as a result of extensive mass media education in the recent years. But, at the same time, misunderstanding about HIV trans mission still exists. Some students still think that HIV could be transmitted through injection of vaccines (69% ), insect bites (48% ), use of public toilets (38% ) or sharing utensils (30% ). Only 67% know that using condoms can reduce the risk of sexual transmission of HIV. Different attitudes to AIDS patients were observed. Conclusion: The survey concludes that it is important to conduct AIDS education among first year medical students to empower them with correct information about AIDS and clarify their misunderstanding about the disease. 展开更多

Challenges inherent with the transition to college are often accompanied by weight gain among college freshmen. Weight gain and duration of obesity increase metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease risk in young adulthood, which supports the need for weight loss interventions tailored to college students. The purpose of this investigation was to conduct a mixed methods pilot trial to determine the efficacy and acceptability of a semester long Internet-and incentive-based weight loss intervention for overweight/obese college freshmen. Participants (n = 27, aged >18 yrs, BMI >25) were randomly assigned to a 12-week social cognitive theory (SCT)-based intervention (Fit Freshmen [FF]) or a health information control group. The FF intervention also included modest financial incentives for weight loss. Primary outcomes included body weight/composition, dietary and physical activity (PA) behaviors, and psychosocial measures (i.e. self-efficacy, self-regulation) associated with diet, PA, and weight loss. Students in the FF intervention participated in focus groups to provide qualitative feedback on program structure and design. Characteristic Changes Defined via Comparison of the Big-Five Personalities in Japanese University Freshmen from Years 2000 to 2016

Introduction: With the arrival of the 21st century, drastic worldwide changes to natural, economic and social events have occurred. These include the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the global financial crisis. Furthermore, Japan experienced the introduction of a specific education system. In this study, we traced and compared the psychological characters of university freshmen for 16 years (years 2000-2016) using Big-Five personalities inventory (Japanese version). Methods: A total of 1189 physically and mentally healthy university freshmen participated in this study. They were divided into four groups according to the year they entered university. They completed a self-filled questionnaire, Big-Five personalities inventory, which consists of Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Conscientiousness and Openness. Result and Discussion: Compared with the year 2008, Extraversion nominally increased in 2012, however, it statistically significantly decreased in 2016. Agreeableness notably decreased from 2000 to 2008, then showed an increase in 2012. Compared to 2000, Neuroticism was statistically significantly lower in 2008 and 2016. Such statistically significant differences were not observed in the other two personalities. The personalities of university freshmen have changed in the last 16 years, which may be been caused by drastic changes. However, further research (e.g., larger-scale studies or studies including other university students) is required to support the current findings. 展开更多

Sleep Quality and Emotional Adaptation among Freshmen in Elite Chinese Universities during Prolonged COVID-19 Lockdown:The Mediating Role of Anxiety Symptoms

Under the effects of COVID-19 and a number of ongoing lockdown tactics,anxiety symptoms and poor sleep quality have become common mental health issues among college freshmen and are intimately related to their emotional adaptation.To explore this connection,this study gathered data from a sample of 256 freshmen enrolled in an elite university in China in September 2022.The association between sleep quality,anxiety symptoms,and emotional adaptation was clarified using correlation analysis.Additionally,the mediating function of anxiety symptoms between sleep quality and emotional adaptation was investigated using a structural equation model.The results reveal that:(1)Chinese elite university freshmen who were subjected to prolonged lockdown had poor sleep quality and mild anxiety symptoms;(2)a significant positive correlation between poor sleep quality and anxiety symptoms was identified;(3)anxiety symptoms were found to have a significant negative impact on emotional adaptation;(4)poor sleep quality had a negative impact on emotional adaptation through anxiety symptoms.This research makes a valuable contribution by offering insights into the intricate relationship between sleep quality and emotional adaptation among freshmen in elite Chinese universities during prolonged lockdown conditions,and it is beneficial for schools and educators to further improve school schedules and psychological health initiatives. 展开更多

In order to get a better understanding about autonomous learning competence of freshmen of English major in university, this investigation was conducted in the form of questionnaire and was analyzed according to the data collected. The investigation found that autonomous learning competence of freshmen is poor and worrying. Freshmen have strong motivation for English learning, but they keep old learning habit and more rely on teachers. They are incapable of employing metacognitive strategies in their language learning and are not good at utilizing related learning resources available to them. All these deficiencies hinder improvement of them. So they are in great need of fostering the competence of automous learning. 展开更多

This study aims to understand the overall level of mental health of newly enrolled students in a school in a Chinese southern urban city,and provide a scientific basis for school education;this study used Mental Health Diagnostic Test(MHT)as a test instrument to test 258 new students enrolled in the school in the new semester.The results of the study found that the overall level of students’mental health was relatively good,but the detection rate was higher in the dimensions of serious psychological problems,such as self-blame tendency,physical symptoms,and impulsive tendency;the psychological problems of girls were more prominent than those of boys.In response to the current situation,the mental health work of junior high school freshmen can be carried out effectively through various ways such as optimizing the professional curriculum of freshmen mental health,strengthening the infiltration of mental health into subject teaching,combining case consultation and group counseling,and establishing a mental health education alliance system. 展开更多

The research shows that Self-assessment improves Ss' independent learning skills,peer assessment group work help students in active learning,self-and peer assessment motivate students' English learning. In a comparison of other classes which aren't involved in this innovation,the group of freshmen know better about their learning outcome in an objective manner and can improve their method of English learning. Objective: A correlation study was conducted between AIDS awareness and condom use among 3128 freshmen in a border university to understand their knowledge of AIDS, their mastery of preventive measures, and their attitudes, and to explore the factors influencing their willingness to use condoms, with the aim of providing targeted and effective scientific recommendations for the prevention and treatment of AIDS and sexual health education in the region. Methods: A random whole-cluster sampling method was used, and a self-constructed questionnaire was administered to university freshmen via the Questionnaire Star platform to conduct a survey study, and SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used to analyze the relevant statistics. The c2 test and binary logistic regression were applied to analyze the influence factors. Results: The knowledge rate of freshmen about AIDS was 80.3%, and 5.7% of freshmen were not willing to use condoms when having sex. Multifactorial analysis showed that female students (OR = 3.96, 95% CI: 2.66 - 5.89), knowledge of AIDS (OR = 1.70, 95% CI: 1.19 - 2.42), unwillingness to have sex with others (OR = 2.12, 95% CI: 1.45 - 3.10), and having received AIDS education (OR = 0.34, 95% CI: 0.22 - 0.52) as facilitators influencing condom use. Conclusions: Freshmen in a border university have relatively good knowledge of AIDS and overall high willingness to use condoms, but still need to be improved. Schools should emphasize AIDS entrance education, focusing on health interventions for male students, establishing correct sexual concepts for new students, and improving AIDS knowledge to increase the rate of condom use among new students. 展开更多

目的 探讨大学新生数字媒介使用与健康促进行为的关系。方法 以电子媒介健康素养量表和健康促进行为量表为测量工具,对515名大学新生开展4次纵向追踪调查。运用Mplus 8.3软件分析数字媒介使用和健康促进行为的动态变化趋势,并通过平行... 目的 探讨大学新生数字媒介使用与健康促进行为的关系。方法 以电子媒介健康素养量表和健康促进行为量表为测量工具,对515名大学新生开展4次纵向追踪调查。运用Mplus 8.3软件分析数字媒介使用和健康促进行为的动态变化趋势,并通过平行潜变量增长模型及交叉滞后模型,探究二者可能存在的因果关系。结果 大学新生数字媒介使用与健康促进行为均呈显著上升趋势(斜率值分别为0.06、0.03,均P<0.001)。数字媒介使用的初始水平正向预测健康促进行为的初始水平(β=0.17,P<0.001)及其增长速率(β=0.11,P<0.001),健康促进行为的初始水平负向预测数字媒介使用的增长速率(β=-0.12,P<0.001),数字媒介使用的增长速率对健康促进行为的变化速率具有显著正向预测作用(β=0.02,P<0.001)。前测数字媒介使用或健康促进行为均能显著预测后测健康促进行为或数字媒介使用,二者存在双向预测关系。结论 该研究明确了大学新生数字媒介使用与健康促进行为的发展轨迹及因果关联,为高校精准设计“媒介赋能”型健康干预方案提供了实证依据。 展开更多

某医学院大学新生体力活动水平与血脂异常的关联性分析

目的探讨大学新生体力活动水平与血脂的关联,为大学新生健康管理提供科学证据。方法对某高校新生进行体力活动电子问卷调查,检测空腹血生化指标。采用国际体力活动问卷短卷来评估研究对象的体力活动水平。血脂异常定义为个体血清中总胆... 目的探讨大学新生体力活动水平与血脂的关联,为大学新生健康管理提供科学证据。方法对某高校新生进行体力活动电子问卷调查,检测空腹血生化指标。采用国际体力活动问卷短卷来评估研究对象的体力活动水平。血脂异常定义为个体血清中总胆固醇、三酰甘油、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇、非高密度脂蛋白胆固醇中任意一项异常。运用二元logistic回归和分层分析探讨体力活动与血脂的关系。结果共纳入3401名研究对象,平均年龄(18.45±0.92)岁,女性占60.54%。血脂异常者占比17.67%,男生患病率22.06%,女生患病率14.81%。在校正血脂相关因素后,与低强度体力活动相比,男生高强度体力活动与低密度脂蛋白胆固醇升高风险负相关(OR=0.36,95%CI:0.13~0.99,P=0.049)。结论湖北省某医学院大学新生中,男生高强度体力活动水平与低密度脂蛋白胆固醇升高风险之间存在负向关联,但这些关联仍需更大样本的前瞻性队列研究来进一步检验。 展开更多

目的 探讨兰州大学2023级新生中幽门螺杆菌(Helicobacter pylori, Hp)的感染率及其影响因素。方法 本研究采用横断面研究设计,通过整群抽样选取兰州大学2023级420例新生为研究对象。对所有入选对象分别采用问卷调查和Hp抗原检测。分析H... 目的 探讨兰州大学2023级新生中幽门螺杆菌(Helicobacter pylori, Hp)的感染率及其影响因素。方法 本研究采用横断面研究设计,通过整群抽样选取兰州大学2023级420例新生为研究对象。对所有入选对象分别采用问卷调查和Hp抗原检测。分析Hp的感染率及其影响因素。问卷调查内容涵盖性别、民族、出生地、生活环境、家庭收入、家庭成员数、饮食习惯、吸烟和饮酒等信息。用13C尿素呼气试验检测Hp感染,利用多因素Logistic回归分析Hp感染的影响因素。结果 兰州大学2023年级中抽取的420例新生Hp感染率为18.6%。女性Hp感染率为19.2%和男性Hp感染率为17.7%,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。农村学生及城镇地区学生Hp感染率为20.4%和城市地区学生Hp感染率为14.3%,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。多因素Logistic回归分析结果显示,高盐高脂和辛辣刺激的饮食习惯(OR=6.482)、家庭饮用水为井水(OR=6.872)、家庭成员人数5人以上(OR=4.651)是Hp感染的独立危险因素(均P<0.05);有长期运动习惯(OR=0.314)、食堂就餐经历史(OR=0.098)是预防Hp感染的独立保护因素(均P<0.05)。结论 兰州大学2023级新生Hp感染率较低,饮食习惯、饮水卫生和家庭成员规模是Hp感染的独立危险因素。改善饮食习惯、增加运动可能降低Hp感染风险。 展开更多

This study intends to examine the problems that affected non-English major freshmen’s motivation and the potential factors that could influence their motivation, intrinsic or extrinsic. Self-report data were collected from 188 freshmen selected randomly in Nanchang College by using a close-ended questionnaire. Qualitative results came from interviews with 8 freshmen and 5 teachers. Findings provide evidence that some problems, which emerge with the transition from middle school to college, will influence students’ motivation. Meanwhile, intrinsic motivation can be boosted if the factors of goal, attitude, self-confidence, self-determination, learning environment, learning strategies, teaching methods are valued by teachers. 展开更多

目的解析军医大学新生职业认同感动态演变规律,探究家校共育、军校环境及个人特质的交互影响。方法采用职业认同量表,从职业认知、职业情感、职业意志、职业价值观和职业效能感5个维度评估受试者职业认同水平,通过潜类别增长模型,纵向追... 目的解析军医大学新生职业认同感动态演变规律,探究家校共育、军校环境及个人特质的交互影响。方法采用职业认同量表,从职业认知、职业情感、职业意志、职业价值观和职业效能感5个维度评估受试者职业认同水平,通过潜类别增长模型,纵向追踪277名新生入学一年内的职业认同感变化轨迹,利用多元Logistic回归模型分析多维度影响因素。结果基于潜类别增长模型进行分组,依据职业认同感动态演变轨迹将研究对象分为不同潜在类别:快速增长(C2)组126例(45.5%)、缓慢增长(C1)组96例(34.6%)和低水平下降(C0)组55例(19.9%)。单因素分析显示,对军校满意度、亲子关系、与队干部交流频率、家庭状况、性格、家校沟通频率、家庭月收入等变量在3组间差异具有统计学意义(均P<0.05);多因素Logistic回归结果显示,C1组vs C0组:对军校满意度为一般和满意、1年内家校沟通频率6~9次和≥10次、性格偏外向有统计学意义(均P<0.05);C2组vs C0组:对军校满意度为满意、亲子关系亲密、与队干部交流频率2次及以上、1年内家校沟通频率≥10次、双亲家庭、性格偏外向有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。结论军医新生职业认同感受个体-家庭-环境交互影响,需构建家校协同机制,强化低认同群体环境支持与家庭联结,促进职业适应。 展开更多

The Relationship Between Upbringing Styles and Mental Health of Chinese College Freshmen:The Mediating Role of Body Appreciation

Nowadays,college freshmen face more psychological challenges and report more body image issues.However,as an important influence on mental health,upbringing style lacks research on external transmitters.At the same time,the body image issue is highlighted in freshmen and,as the core content of positive body image,body appreciation is called for more attention.This study analyzed the relationship between upbringing styles and mental health and body appreciation using quantitative research methods with a sample of 502(101 males and 401 females)Chinese college freshman.The results found that rejection and overprotective upbringing styles were negatively associated with mental health,emotional warmth was positively associated with mental health,and that body appreciation played a mediating role in upbringing styles and mental health.The results informed mental health education in higher education and to complemented existing body appreciation research. 展开更多
