[Objective] The purpose of this paper is paper was to master the spatial and temporal distribution of total antimony content in fresh vegetables in Hu- nan Province. [ Method ] Fresh vegetable samples were collected in 14 areas of Hunan Province and Xikuangshan Street. The content of antimony was detected by Hydride Generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry. The spatial and temporal distribution of total antimony in fresh vegetables in different areas and seasons were compared. [Result] In 703 vegetable samples, the reference range (P5-195) of total antimony content was ND -0.25mg/kg, and the median was 0. 018 mg/kg; and the median of total antimony content in Xiangtan City and Xikuangshan Street were 0.046 and 0.041 mg/kg respectively, significantly higher than those in other areas. The differences among groups were statistically significant ( P 〈 0. 05 ). The reference range of total antimony content in spring samples was ND -0.24 mg/kg, and the median was 0. 023mg/kg; the reference range of total antimony in autumn samples was ND -0. 088mg/kg, and the median was 0.007 4 mg/kg. [ CondusionJ The reference range of total antimony content in Hunan Province is ND -0.25mg/kg, and the median is 0.018 mg/kg. The con- tent of total antimony content in Xiangtan City and Xikiangshan Street is higher. And the total antimony content in spring samples are higher than those in autumn samples. 展开更多

Fertile agricultural land is being converted to other uses. Around 1/3 more of the existing area under forests is needed to meet the targets of national forest policy. In the last two decades, 9% pastures have disappeared. The hills being removed cause threat to environment. The farmers seem to overuse land and other inputs. In the peri-urban areas agricultural fertile lands are many times forcefully acquired for non-agricultural uses, which result in violent protests and judicial interventions. A few cases of vast land use change, motive forces for such change, effect of change in land use on livelihood and on quality and costs of fresh vegetable supply are discussed in this paper. The partially used and unused data collected for earlier studies and some data collected for this paper have been used. The increase in land prices due to enhanced income of some sections, future need of prime land and returns from other than agricultural uses seem to be the driving force for change in land use, affecting the livelihood of people dependent upon farming who are migrating to nearby areas. Each shift of peri-urban agriculture will result in loss of quality, increase wastage by 6% and enhance costs of leafy vegetables by more than 5.5%. For an ideal urban land use, a balanced multi land use policy emphasizing peri-urban agriculture and forestry is suggested. 展开更多

The forecast of sales volume trend of fresh vegetables has significant referential function for government dominant departments, producers and consumers. In order to evaluate the e-commerce sales information of fresh vegetables scientifically and accurately, the sales volume information of such four common vegetables as baby cabbage, potatoes, bok choy and tomatoes, from Anhui Jinghui Vegetable E-commerce Co.,Ltd.was selected as the research object to establish the sales trend prediction system.Taking the improved SVR as an example,we introduced the overall architecture, detailed design and function realization of the system. The system can reflect the short-term sales volume trend of fresh vegetables, and also can provide guidance for the realization of e-commerce order-oriented management and scientific production. 展开更多

Vegetable freshness is very important for both restaurant and home consumers. In market, sellers frequently apply water to leafy vegetables to make them not lose weight and look fresh;however, these vegetables may not be stored for a long time as they appear. After a time limit, they may be quickly rotten. It is thus meaningful to investigate early and simple detection tools to measure leafy vegetable freshness while they are frequently applied water in selling. In this work, three types of newly harvested leafy vegetables were bought from a local farmer market and stored in the air with room temperature and roots submerging in water.Chlorophyll a fluorescence(ChlF)from the vegetables was measured each half a day for three days. The obtained ChlF data were analyzed statistically and the correlation of ChlF parameters and vegetable freshness/storage time was obtained. The k-mean classification was also performed. It is found that Fo,Fj,Fm/Fo,and Fv/Fm can be used as an early detection tool to differentiate the freshness of leafy vegetables on which water is constantly applied in storage without visible difference. 展开更多

Fresh vegetables can be contaminated with spoilage and food-borne pathogenic bacteria during cultivation, harvesting, transport and further processing. The essential oils seem a promising solution for preserving vegetables incorporated in edible films.During the study it was determined the prevalence of allochthonous bacteria on some fresh vegetables with classical cultivation and molecular biology techniques. The evaluation of the antibacterial effect of Thymus vulgaris,Origanum vulgare,Mentha piperita and Melissa officinalis essential oils against identified bacteria from vegetables and on some standard foodborne pathogenic bacteria was realized with agar diffusion method. The prevalence of allochthonous bacteria in the examined vegetables was diverse. In some cases, high contamination level could be detected reaching the level of 104 colony forming units/g.The identified bacteria belong to different genera like Bacillus,Enterobacter,Pseudomonas etc.Of the tested plant essential oils, the most pronounced antibacterial effect was detected in the case of thyme and oregano, with over 30 mm inhibition zone. The isolated bacteria from vegetables showed higher resistance to the used essential oils. The results suggest that edible films containing thyme and oregano essential oils possess efficient antibacterial effect against mesophilic aerobic bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus. These findings seem a promising solution for preserving vegetables with natural antimicrobial containing edible films. 展开更多
