BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal submucosal tumors(SMTs)mostly grew in the lumen,but also some of the lesions were extraluminal,in which the stomach was the most co-mmon site.Gastrointestinal stromal tumor account for a la...BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal submucosal tumors(SMTs)mostly grew in the lumen,but also some of the lesions were extraluminal,in which the stomach was the most co-mmon site.Gastrointestinal stromal tumor account for a large proportion of SMT.Due to the deep lesion location of gastric SMT,endoscopic submucosal dissection related techniques are difficult to operate,while endoscopic full-thickness rese-ction(EFTR)has been widely used in clinical practice because it is less invasive and can preserve the physiological structure and function of the stomach.Ho-wever,complete closure of the gastrectomy site after EFTR is critical.If the closure is incomplete,it may cause peritonitis,late perforation and other conditions,and even require further surgical intervention.Although there are currently a number of suture devices and techniques that can be used to promote closure,they have the problem of requiring additional equipment or being inconvenient to use.Although metal clips are widely used,their effectiveness depends on the size and tension of the defect.Therefore,an effective and convenient endoscopic closure technique is urgently needed to solve the closure problem of gastric SMTs after treatment.AIM To investigate the effect of combined application of the preclosure technique and dental floss traction in gastric wound closure following EFTR.METHODS In this study,the data of 94 patients treated for gastric SMTs at the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center of the Affiliated Union Hospital of Fujian Medical University from April 2022 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into a preclosure group(54 patients)and a non-preclosure group(40 patients)on the basis of the timing of wound closure with titanium clips after dental floss traction-assisted EFTR.Each patient in the preclosure group had their wounds preclosed with titanium clips after subtotal lesion resection,whereas each patient in the non-preclosure group had their wounds closed with titanium clips after total lesion resection.The lesion size,wound closure time,number of titanium clips used,incidence of postoperative complications,and postoperative hospitalization time were compared between the two groups.RESULTS The wound closure time was significantly shorter in the preclosure group than in the non-preclosure group(6.69±2.109 minutes vs 11.65±3.786 minutes,P<0.001).The number of titanium clips used was significantly lower in the preclosure group(8.93±2.231)than in the non-preclosure group(12.05±4.495)(P<0.001).There was no sig-nificant difference between the two groups in terms of the need for an indwelling gastric tube or the length of postoperative hospital stay(6.41±1.31 vs 6.13±1.06 days).For all patients in the preclosure group and the non-preclosure group,resection was completed successfully without bleeding,abdominal pain,abdominal distension,or other postoperative complications.CONCLUSION Application of the preclosure technique combined with dental floss traction can be used intraoperatively to effectively close the surgical wound in patients undergoing EFTR,reliably preventing the tumor from falling into the peritoneal cavity.展开更多

BACKGROUND Complex and high-risk surgical complications pose pressing challenges in the clinical implementation and advancement of endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR).Successful perforation repair under endoscop...BACKGROUND Complex and high-risk surgical complications pose pressing challenges in the clinical implementation and advancement of endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR).Successful perforation repair under endoscopy,thereby avoiding surgical intervention and postoperative complications such as peritonitis,are pivotal for effective EFTR.AIM To investigate the effectiveness and safety of EFTR assisted by distal serosal inversion under floss traction in gastric submucosal tumors.METHODS A retrospective analysis of patients with gastric and duodenal submucosal tumors treated with EFTR assisted by the distal serosa inversion under dental floss traction from January 2023 to January 2024 was conducted.The total operation time,tumor dissection time,wound closure time,intraoperative bleeding volume,length of hospital stay and incidence of complications were analyzed.RESULTS There were 93 patients,aged 55.1±12.1 years.Complete tumor resection was achieved in all cases,resulting in a 100% success rate.The average total operation time was 67.4±27.0 min,with tumor dissection taking 43.6±20.4 min.Wound closure times varied,with gastric body closure time of 24.5±14.1 min and gastric fundus closure time of 16.6±8.7 min,showing a significant difference(P<0.05).Intraoperative blood loss was 2.3±4.0 mL,and average length of hospital stay was 5.7±1.9 d.There was no secondary perforation after suturing in all cases.The incidence of delayed bleeding was 2.2%,and the incidence of abdominal infection was 3.2%.No patient required other surgical intervention during and after the operation.CONCLUSION Distal serosal inversion under dental-floss-assisted EFTR significantly reduced wound closure time and intraoperative blood loss,making it a viable approach for gastric submucosal tumors.展开更多

The purpose of the present study is to establish a reproducible method to assess the color of moxa floss, discriminate the samples based on chromatic coordinates and explore the relationship between chromatic coordinates and total flavonoid content （TFC）. METHODS： Moxa floss samples of different storage years and production ratios were obtained from a moxa production factory in Henan Province, China. Chromatic coordinates （L＊, a＊ and b＊） were analyzed with an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer and the chroma （C＊） and hue angle （h~） values were calculated. TFC was determined by a colorimetric method. Data were analyzed with correlation, principal component analysis （PCA）. RESULTS： Significant differences in the chromatic values and TFC were observed among samples of different storage years and production ratios. Samples of higher production ratio displayed higher chromatic characteristics and lower TFC. Samples of longer storage years contained higher TFC. Preliminary separation of moxa floss production ratio was obtained by means of color feature maps developed using L＊-a＊ or L＊-b＊ as coordinates. PCA allowed the separation of the samples from their storage years and production ratios based on their chromatic characteristics and TFC. CONCLUSION： The use of a colorimetric technique and CIELAB coordinates coupled with chemometrics can be practical and objective for discriminating moxa floss of different storage years and production ratios. The development of color feature maps could be used as a model for classifying the color grading of moxa floss.展开更多

However, its seedlings are rarely seen around human settlements, raising questions on what factorsmight be limiting its recruitment. We examined the pattern of floss release, seed fall post-dispersal and influences of watering frequency on germination ofCeiba pentandraseeds. Evening,overall, was associated with a significantlyhigher rate and quantity of floss release (p= 0.0001) than were mid-day and morning, correlating well with the speed of wind across the day (rh = 0.666,p= 0.001). Mean dispersal quantity differed significantly between the individual sampled trees, in which the highest dispersal was recorded from trees located in relatively open areas and the lowest was recorded in closed stand trees. Seed fall was higher within100 mdistances than seed fall farther away from dispersing trees, depending on the microsites and weather conditions. Germination started on day 5 onwards and only 15.67% of sown seeds germinated. Watering frequency strongly influenced seed germination while local human activities determined fate of dispersed seeds. This study evaluated associations between dental self-care behaviors and oral health, specifically toothbrushing, flossing, rinsing, chewing xylitol gum, and diet. Soldiers recently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan had dental examinations and answered questionnaires on dental self-care habits. The DoD Oral Health and Readiness Classification System was used to categorize oral health （see manuscript for definitions）. Correlations were assessed between self-care habits and dental classification. Of 266 soldiers, 43 （16%） were Class 1 （excellent）, 191 （72%） Class 2 （acceptable）, 18 （7%） Class 3 （poor）, and 14 （5%） Class 4 （unknown）. Only 63% of soldiers brushed twice or more per day and only half flossed once or more per day. Dental classification improved with toothbrushing （P = 0.05） and adherence to a Mediterranean diet （P = 0.04）. Flossing trended toward correlation （P = 0.11）. Dental classification did not correlate with mouth rinse or xylitol chewing gum. These research findings help fill an evidence gap that toothbrushing and flossing in addition to a healthful eating pattem are associated with improved oral health.展开更多

<strong>Purpose:</strong> The aim of the present study was to determine the degree of using floss and the demographic characteristics of medical faculties of Inner Mongolia Medical University. <strong&g...<strong>Purpose:</strong> The aim of the present study was to determine the degree of using floss and the demographic characteristics of medical faculties of Inner Mongolia Medical University. <strong>Materials and Methods:</strong> Participants completed the questionnaire in the classroom. These participants came from the medical faculties of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. These participants were interviewed to determine the demographic characteristics. Non-flossors responded according to their reasons for not flossing. <strong>Results:</strong> A total of 3481 effective data were available for analysis. The floss prevalence was 17.21%, which was lower by 5.72% for students living in rural areas, when compared to students living in urban areas. The largest proportion of non-flossing participants in rural areas answered, “I do not know what a floss is”, while participants in urban answered, “I do not want to use it”. The largest proportion of answered flossing frequency was less than once a month. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The present study indicates that the prevalence of using floss in medical faculties in Inner Mongolia Medical University was higher, when compared to that in Sichuan province, China, but lower than that in other countries. Although the students use floss, more than one-third of students use floss less than once a month, which is close to “never”. The prevalence in rural areas is lower than those in urban areas. Male not only comprises the total number of prevalence, but also has a frequency greater than that in females. The emphasis on using floss should be improved in medical students.展开更多

No records have shown any sideor adverse-effects of moxa applied in moxibustion therapy. Conclusion： Moxa has been used in multiple ways for several thousands of years by Chinese people. 文摘The novel The Mill on the Floss is a semi-autobiography which has much value in exploring Eliot's special feministic view.The change of Maggie's personality in her growing up process and her choice in kinship and romantic relatiomhip reveals the duality of Eliot's feminism.On the one hand,she holds that women should have self-consciousness and the bisexual dualism holds little ground.On the other hand,Eliot also advocates women's serf-denial,obedience and serf-sacrifice in lfie.This essay aims to analyze the duality of Eliot's feministic viewpoint in comideration of the social background in Victorian Age and point out the the implicit feminism view in the fate of Maggie.
文摘Objective： To discuss the safety issues of moxibustion therapy in view of moxibustion materials. Methods： The analyses and assessment were performed based on the survey carried out on the use of moxa, modem and ancient records, modem studies, and clinical applications. Results： Moxa has been used as both a medicine and a food for a long history in China. Regarding moxibustion specifically, moxa has been proven to be the optimum choice for moxibustion therapy, through practices and experiments by doctors from different generations. No records have shown any sideor adverse-effects of moxa applied in moxibustion therapy. Conclusion： Moxa has been used in multiple ways for several thousands of years by Chinese people. As the main material for moxibustion therapy, its safety has been proven by documents and clinical practices.
