Numerical Investigation of Three-dimensional Aeroacoustic Characteristics of Owl-inspired Trailing-edge Fringes 被引量:1

Owls are widely known for their silent flight,which is attributed to their unique wing morphologies comprising leading-edge(LE)serrations,trailing-edge(TE)fringes,and a velvety surface.The aeroacoustic characteristics of owl-inspired TE fringes have been widely investigated through two-dimensional(2D)modeling,but remain yet poorly studied in association with their three-dimensional(3D)effects.Here,we present a numerical study of the 3D aeroacoustic characteristics of owl-inspired TE fringes in which we combined large-eddy simulations(LES)with the Ffowcs Williams‒Hawkings analogy.We constructed a clean wing model and three wing models with TE fringes that were distributed differently spanwise.The aerodynamic forces and 3D acoustic characteristics reveal that,like the 2D results of our previous studies,the 3D TE fringes enable remarkable sound reduction spatially while having aerodynamic performance comparable to the clean model.Visualizations of the near-field 3D flow structures,vortex dynamics,and flow fluctuations show that TE fringes can robustly alter the 3D flow by breaking 3D TE vortices into small eddies and mitigating 3D flow fluctuations.Particularly,it is verified that TE fringes alter spanwise flows,thus dominating the 3D aeroacoustic characteristics in terms of passive flow control and flow stabilizations,whereas the fringes are inefficient in suppressing the acoustic sources induced by wingtip vortices.Moreover,the TE fringes distributed at midspan have better acoustic performance than those in the vicinity of the wingtip,indicating the importance of a spanwise distribution in enhancing aeroacoustic performance. 展开更多

Multiple-beam fringes of equal chromatic order interferometry is a powerful technique to extract optical properties over a continuous range of spectrum. In this paper we develop a theory for the spectral shape of the fringes of equal chromatic order (FECO) that are formed across a double-clad fiber. The modified single term Sellmeier dispersion formula is used to construct the refractive index dispersion curves for the liquid, claddings, and core. Expressions for the paraxial optical path length for several rays passing through the fiber and the liquid are developed. The condition of bright fringe is applied to get an analytical expression for the spectral shape of the FECO across a double-clad fiber with an elliptical/circular inner cladding. A potential application of this theory is to determine the dispersion of Kerr constant of the claddings and the core of the fiber. To illustrate the theory and its application, simulation examples are provided and discussed. 展开更多

Adding the Al-dopant to the Zinc Oxide crystal structure results in changes that affect the optical and nonlinear characteristics. Presented results indicate that the magnitude of X<sup>(3)</sup> was enhanced at single experimental wavelengths;however, across the broadband experimental spectrum, the effect of Al-doping remained relatively constant. The observed enhancement of third-order nonlinearity was purely from the bound electronic response. The observation is attributed to increased charge carriers and spontaneous polarization in the Zinc Oxide and Al-doped Zinc Oxide crystal structure. 展开更多

In this paper,the HRTEM lattice fringe micrograph of Caocun No.2 coal was extracted by ArcGIS,the length and orientation of the fringes were calculated,and the rose diagram for the lattice fringe micrograph was drawn by Matlab.By controlling the segmentation points of each lattice fringe,the coordinates of the segmentation points were processed by a self-programmed Python program,and then a series of curvature characterizations including segmentation angle,cumulative angle and tortuosity were performed for lattice fringes with different lengths.The results show that Caocun No.2 coal is mainly composed of short naphthalene fringes.Lattice fringes with the length ranging from 0.3 nm to 1.14 nm account for more than 90%of the total number of fringes,and the number of polynuclear aromatic rings was 2-4.The direction of lattice fringes is concentrated between 110°and 120°,which indicates well structural orientation of lattice fringes.The number of segment angles ranging from 0°to 20°account for about half of the total,which reflects the structural orientation further.For fringes with the length ranging from 0.3 nm to 1.14 nm,the cumulative angles are mainly concentrated at 4°to 160°.Fringes with the tortuosity in the range of 1.0-1.1 are more than 92%of the total number of fringes.In addition,short fringes have large curvature,which shows significant effects on the placement and frequency of non-six-membered rings and lattice imperfection in the aromatic structure. 展开更多

In the three-dimensional(3D) contour measurement,the phase shift profilometry(PSP) method is the most widely used one.However,the measurement speed of PSP is very low because of the multiple projections.In order to improve the measurement speed,color grating stripes are used for measurement in this paper.During the measurement,only one color sinusoidal fringe is projected on the measured object.Therefore,the measurement speed is greatly improved.Since there is coupling or interference phenomenon between the adjacent color grating stripes,a color correction method is used to improve the measurement results.A method for correcting nonlinear error of measurement system is proposed in this paper,and the sinusoidal property of acquired image after correction is better than that before correction.Experimental results show that with these correction methods,the measurement errors can be reduced.Therefore,it can support a good foundation for the high-precision 3D reconstruction. 展开更多

Focused on the demand of encoding, decoding, multiview registration and system calibration, we expect to obtain undistorted fringes from camera image. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the accuracy and sampling density of projecting distortion calibration approach based on control point and fitting surface. Moreover, combining the characteristic of coded structured light system, we design encoded fringe projecting distortion calibration scheme based on simplified encoded structured light model. Primarily, we neglect the minor parameters that affect the calibration in structured light model to reduce complexity. Then, we build the correspondence between camera image points and projector image points and achieve the calibration. Finally, we design evaluation scheme of projecting distortion calibration with parallelism and equal interval, and verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the approach through visual effect and experimental data. 展开更多

Phase unwrapping by a multi-level grid method for moiré fringes

Phase unwrapping is a crucial process in the field of optical measurement, and the effectiveness of unwrapping directly affects the accuracy of final results. This study proposes a multi-level grid method that can efficiently achieve phase unwrapping. First, the phase image of the package to be processed is divided into small grids, and each grid is unwrapped in multiple directions. Then, a level-by-level coarse-graining mesh method is employed to eliminate the new data “faults”generated from the previous level of grid processing. Finally, the true phase results are obtained by iterating to the coarsest grid through the unwrapping process. In order to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, a numerical simulation is first applied. Further, three typical flow fields are selected for experiments, and the results are compared with flood-fill and multi-grid methods for accuracy and efficiency. The proposed method obtains true phase information in just 0.5 s;moreover, it offers more flexibility in threshold selection compared to the flood-fill and region-growing methods.In summary, the proposed method can solve the phase unwrapping problems for moiré fringes, which could provide possibilities for the intelligent development of moiré deflection tomography. 展开更多

Noise reduction is one of the most exciting problems in electronic speckle pattern interferometry. We present a homomorphic partial differential equation filtering method for interferometry fringe patterns. The diffusion speed of the equation is determined based on the fringe density. We test the new method on the computer-simulated fringe pattern and experimentally obtain the fringe pattern, and evaluate its filtering performance. The qualitative and quantitative analysis shows that this technique can filter off the additive and multiplicative noise of the fringe patterns effectively, and avoid blurring high-density fringe. It is more capable of improving the quality of fringe patterns than the classical filtering methods. 展开更多

When the substrate shifts, a reference grating next to the substrate is used to adjust in real time the phase of the exposure interference fringes relative to the substrate. Shifting eliminates the exposure defects and therefore decreases the stray light of gratings. Several gratings are successfully made by using this method, which have straighter grooves,smoother surfaces, and lower stray light than gratings made in conventional interference lithography. 展开更多

The Fringe Projection Profilometry(FPP)system with a single exposure time or a single projection intensity is limited by the dynamic range of the camera,which can lead to overexposure and underexposure of the image,resulting in point cloud loss or reduced accuracy.To address this issue,unlike the pixel modulation method of projectors,we utilize the characteristics of color projectors where the intensity of the three-channel LED can be controlled independently.We propose a method for separating the projector's three-channel light intensity,combined with a color camera,to achieve single exposure and multi-intensity image acquisition.Further,the crosstalk coefficient is applied to predict the three-channel reflectance of the measured object.By integrating clustering and channel mapping,we establish a pixel-level mapping model between the projector's three-channel current and the camera's three-channel image intensity,which realizes the optimal projection current prediction and the high dynamic range(HDR)image acquisition.The proposed method allows for high-precision three-dimensional(3D)data acquisition of HDR scenes with a single exposure.The effectiveness of this method has been validated through experiments with standard planes and standard steps,showing a significant reduction in mean absolute error(44.6%)compared to existing singleexposure HDR methods.Additionally,the number of images required for acquisition is significantly reduced(by 70.8%)compared to multi-exposure fusion methods.This proposed method has great potential in various FPP-related fields. 展开更多

We present an improved angle polishing method in which the end of the cover slice near the glue layer is beveled into a thin,defect-free wedge,the straight edge of which is used as the datum for measuring the depth of subsurface damage. The bevel angle can be calculated from the interference fringes formed in the wedge. The minimum depth of the subsurface damage that can be measured by this method is a few hundred nanometers. Grating fringe projection 3D measurement techniques are extensively applied in various fields.However,in high dynamic range scenarios with significant surface reflectivity variations,uneven greyscale distribution may lead to phase errors and poor reconstruction results.To address this problem,an adaptive fringe projection method is introduced.The method involves projecting two sets of dark and light fringes onto the object,enabling the full-field projection intensity map to be generated adaptively based on greyscale analysis.First,dark fringes are projected onto the object to extend exposure time as long as possible without causing overexposure in the image.Subsequently,bright fringes are projected under the same exposure settings to detect overexposed pixels,and the greyscale distribution of these overexposed points from the previous dark fringe projection is analyzed to calculate the corresponding projection intensities.Finally,absolute phase information from orthogonal fringes is used for coordinate matching,enabling the generation of adaptive projection fringe patterns.Experiments on various high dynamic range objects show that compared to conventional fringe projection binocular reconstruction method,the proposed algorithm achieves complete reconstruction of high dynamic range surfaces and shows robust performance against phase calculation errors caused by overexposure and low modulation. 展开更多

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence have transformed three-dimensional(3D)optical imaging and metrology,enabling high-resolution and high-precision 3D surface geometry measurements from one single fringe pattern projection.However,the imaging speed of conventional fringe projection profilometry(FPP)remains limited by the native sensor refresh rates due to the inherent"one-to-one"synchronization mechanism between pattern projection and image acquisition in standard structured light techniques.Here,we present dual-frequency angular-multiplexed fringe projection profilometry(DFAMFPP),a deep learning-enabled 3D imaging technique that achieves high-speed,high-precision,and large-depth-range absolute 3D surface measurements at speeds 16 times faster than the sensor's native frame rate.By encoding multi-timeframe 3D information into a single multiplexed image using multiple pairs of dual-frequency fringes,high-accuracy absolute phase maps are reconstructed using specially trained two-stage number-theoretical-based deep neural networks.We validate the effectiveness of DFAMFPP through dynamic scene measurements,achieving 10,000 Hz 3D imaging of a running turbofan engine prototype with only a 625 Hz camera.By overcoming the sensor hardware bottleneck,DFAMFPP significantly advances high-speed and ultra-high-speed 3D imaging,opening new avenues for exploring dynamic processes across diverse scientific disciplines. 展开更多

In this work,the incorporation of tantalum(Ta)into p-type metal-oxide(SnO_(x))semiconductor film is investigated to improve the electrical characteristics and suppress the fringe effect of thin film transistors(TFTs).The Ta-doped SnO_(x)(SnO_(x):Ta)film is deposited by radio-frequency(RF)magnetron sputtering with a Sn:Ta(3 at.%)target and thermally annealed at 270℃ for 30 min.Here,we observe that the SnO_(x):Ta film presents increased crystallinity,reduced defect density(3.25×10^(12)cm^(−2)·eV^(−1)),and widened bandgap(1.98 eV),in comparison with the undoped SnO_(x)film.As a result,the SnO_(x):Ta TFTs exhibit a lower off-state current(Ioff),an improved on/off current ratio(2.17×10^(4)),a remarkably decreased subthreshold swing(SS)by 41%,and enhanced device stability.Additionally,by introducing Ta dopants,the fringe effect as well as the impact of channel width-to-length ratio(W/L)on electrical performances of the p-type oxide TFTs can be effectively suppressed.These results shall contribute to further exploration and development of p-type SnO_(x)TFTs. 展开更多

Identification of Urban Fringe Areas and Assessment of Their Landscape Ecological Risks in Xi’an,China

The urban fringe areas,situated between the urban-rural interface and critical ecological conservation zones,represent highly sensitive and rapidly evolving transitional zones within urban ecosystems,which are significantly impacted by the pressures of urban ex-pansion.However,current academic research on their spatial identification and ecological risks remains notably limited.This study fo-cused on Xi’an of China,utilizing multi-source data and the K-means algorithm to identify urban fringe areas during 2014-2022.Addi-tionally,this study assessed the landscape ecological risks from three perspectives,human activities,landscape fragmentation and ecolo-gical restoration in 2022.The results demonstrate that:1)Xi’an’s urban core and urban fringe areas significantly expanded between 2014 and 2022,growing from 145 to 471 km^(2) and 1319 to 1884 km^(2),respectively.The near urban core and mid-zone areas increased,while the near rural area initially decreased and then slightly recovered.2)Over half of the urban fringe area is at medium to high ecolo-gical risk,with higher risk zones concentrated near the urban core,and slight risk areas primarily along the Weihe River and northern edges.3)Landscape fragmentation and road network effects have become primary drivers in urban fringe areas,prompting a shift in their role from‘future expansion area’to‘ecological reserve area’to better support sustainable urban development.This study high-lights the spatial complexity and ecological significance of urban fringe areas,emphasizing their critical role in urban ecological man-agement. 展开更多
