Objective Selective estrogen receptor modulators(SERMs)have demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of hypogonadism in males and male factor infertility.Two SERMs,clomiphene citrate and tamoxifen,are now prescribed for...Objective Selective estrogen receptor modulators(SERMs)have demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of hypogonadism in males and male factor infertility.Two SERMs,clomiphene citrate and tamoxifen,are now prescribed for off-label use to treat both conditions in males.However,existing literature compares mixed protocols with active management.We aimed to conduct a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of clomiphene and tamoxifen versus placebo on natural pregnancy rates.Methods We conducted a comprehensive systematic review of electronic databases:MEDLINE,PubMed/PMC,EMBASE,CINAHL,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL),Scopus,Google Scholar,and Web of Science.Articles satisfying all selection criteria were analyzed.The primary outcome was the incidence of pregnancy after receiving the treatment.Secondary outcomes included serum follicle-stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone,and testosterone levels,and sperm count and motility.We calculated the pooled odds ratio,risk ratio,and risk difference to ascertain possible alterations in the direction of the pooled effect size.Results Ten randomized controlled trials were ultimately included and underwent data extraction.Clomiphene citrate and placebo groups had similar pregnancy rates(10.4%and 7.1%,respectively;odds ratio 1.30[95%confidence interval 0.27–6.17];p=0.74).No meta-analysis could be calculated for pregnancy rates in tamoxifen versus placebo groups.Heterogeneity among the studies of both SERMs ranged from low to high.Conclusion Although clomiphene citrate and tamoxifen are often used off-label for the treatment of male infertility secondary to hypogonadism,studies of SERMs in the treatment of idiopathic male factor infertility are limited and heterogenous,preventing this meta-analysis from investigating the efficacy of SERMs on male infertility.The effect of clomiphene citrate or tamoxifen on the pregnancy rate remains uncertain.展开更多

The physical, chemical, and biological indicators of the soil sampleswere measured, and the tobacco and rice yields of each tobacco stationwere investigated. Machine learning was employed to screen the keyindicators influencing the tobacco yield, and a comprehensive numericalanalysis method combining principal component analysis and discriminantanalysis were adopted to cluster the sampling points, analyze their fertilityformation processes, and grade the soil fertility. The results showed thatclay content, available phosphorus, plow layer depth, slit-to-clay ratio, totalnitrogen, basal respiration, and organic carbon were identified as seven keyindicators influencing the tobacco yield. The results of the comprehensivenumerical analysis predicted two main processes involved in the formationof soil fertility in tobacco—rice rotation areas. One was the soil maturationprocess related to soil carbon and nitrogen cycling, and the other was theprocess of changes in soil physical properties such as clay content and slitto-clay ratio. According to the established soil fertility grading methodfor tobacco—rice rotation areas, the soil fertility of 11 tobacco stationswas graded. The results showed that the soil fertility was high in Haotang,Aoquan, Renyi, and Dashiqiao, medium in Huangsha and Tushi, and low inAnping, Baimangying, and Taiping. The tobacco and rice yields confirmedthat this grading standard can be effectively applied to the grading of soilfertility in the tobacco—rice rotation areas in Southern Hunan and canprovide a scientific basis for soil management in tobacco—rice rotation.展开更多

However, it remains unclear if crop yield and soil fertility can be sustained in the long term under the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers. Three long-term field trials were conducted to investigate the effects of organic amendments on the grain sustainable yield index(SYI), soil fertility index(SFI)and nutrient balance in maize–wheat cropping systems of central and southern China during 1991–2019. Five treatments were included in the trials: 1) no fertilization(control);2) balanced mineral fertilization(NPK);3) NPK plus manure(NPKM);4) high dose of NPK plus manure(1.5NPKM);and 5) NPK plus crop straw(NPKS). Over time, the grain yields of wheat and maize showed an increasing trend in all four fertilization treatments at the Yangling(YL) and Zhengzhou(ZZ) locations, while they declined at Qiyang(QY). The grain yield in the NPKM and 1.5NPKM treatments gradually exceeded that of the NPK and NPKS treatments at the QY site. The largest SYI was recorded in the NPKM treatment across the three sites, suggesting that inorganic fertilizer combined with manure can effectively improve crop yield sustainability. Higher SYI values were recorded at the YL and ZZ sites than at the QY site, possibly because the soil was more acid at QY. The key factors affecting grain yield were soil available phosphorus(AP) and available potassium(AK) at the YL and ZZ sites, and pH and AP at the QY site.All fertilization treatments resulted in soil N and P surpluses at the three sites, but soil K surpluses were recorded only at the QY site. The SFI was greater in the 1.5NPKM, NPKM and NPKS treatments than in the NPK treatment by 13.3–40.0 and 16.4–63.6% at the YL and ZZ sites, respectively, and was significantly higher in the NPKM and 1.5NPKM treatments than in the NPK and NPKS treatments at the QY site. A significant, positive linear relationship was found between SFI and crop yield, and SYI and nutrient balance, indicating that grain yield and its sustainability significantly increased with increasing soil fertility. The apparent N, P and K balances positively affected SFI.This study suggests that the appropriate amount of manure mixed with mineral NPK fertilizer is beneficial to the development of sustainable agriculture, which effectively increases the crop yield and yield sustainability by improving soil fertility.展开更多

The results of investigations on self-sterilities showed that all of eight EGMS lines had stable sterile periods of longer than 30 d at Wuhan. They can be used for seed production of two-line hybrid rice, but can not reproduce themselves. Their stable sterile periods were shorter than 30 d at Guiyang, they can reproduce themselves and can not be used for hybrid seed production. In Sanya, their stable sterile periods were longer than 150 d, all of eight lines can be used for seed production in summer and autumn and reproduce themselves in winter. The fertility of all eight lines were sensitive to temperature. The sensitive stages, sensitive duration and critical point of temperatures (CPT) of fertility alteration in various lines were different. The sensitive stages of 2-2S and K1405S were from 18 d to 9 d before heading, the sensitive durations were 7-10 d and the CPTs were 23.7-24.5 degreesC. The sensitive stage, sensitive duration and CPT of F131S were from 17 to 5 d before heading, 13 d and 24.3-24.7 degreesC, respectively. The sensitive stage, sensitive duration and CPT of 2136S were from 18 to 12 d before heading, 7 d and 24.6-25.1 degreesC:, respectively. The sensitive stages, sensitive durations of Pei-Ai 64S, 1290S, N17S and GD-1S were from 24 to 13 d before heading and 10-13 d. BACKGROUND Cervical cancer survivors of childbearing age often face heightened reproductive anxiety due to the direct impact of the disease and its treatments on fertility.This anxiety may exacerbate psychological bur...BACKGROUND Cervical cancer survivors of childbearing age often face heightened reproductive anxiety due to the direct impact of the disease and its treatments on fertility.This anxiety may exacerbate psychological burdens,including depressive symptoms and fear of recurrence,significantly impacting quality of life.AIM To examine whether reproductive concerns partially mediate the relationship between depressive symptoms and fear of recurrence in cervical cancer patients of childbearing age.METHODS Utilizing a cross-sectional design with convenience sampling,208 eligible cervical cancer patients(aged 18-45 years,stable condition,and aware of diagnosis)from three tertiary hospitals completed validated questionnaires:The Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale,Patient Health Questionnaire-9,and Fear of Cancer Recurrence Questionnaire.Structural equation modeling was used to assess the mediating role of reproductive concerns in the relationship between depression and fear of recurrence.RESULTS Reproductive concerns demonstrated significant positive correlations with depression(r=0.477,P<0.001)and fear of recurrence(r=0.426,P<0.001).Structural equation modeling analysis revealed that reproductive concerns acted as a significant partial mediator between depression and fear of recurrence.The indirect effect via reproductive concerns was significant(β_indirect=0.152,P<0.001),accounting for 28.1% of the total effect of depression on fear of recurrence.CONCLUSION Identified path reveals fertility anxiety links depression to recurrence fear.Targeted psych interventions for repro concerns may ease both in childbearing cervical cancer survivors.展开更多

The symbiotic relationships between trees and different mycorrhizal fungi affect the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships within forest communities,particularly across different strata from the understorey...The symbiotic relationships between trees and different mycorrhizal fungi affect the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships within forest communities,particularly across different strata from the understorey to the overstorey.However,current research on this relationship has not yet reached a definitive conclusion.In this study,we used regression analyses and structural equation modelling based on a 9-ha mixed broadleaved-Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis)forest plot to explore the effects of different types of mycorrhizal fungi(arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)and ectomycorrhizal(EM)fungi)on the relationship between tree species diversity and productivity.The study found that the dominance and productivity of AM species increased in the understorey with increasing soil nutrients,whereas the productivity of EM species declined despite increasing diversity.In the overstorey,the productivity of AM species continued to increase with increasing soil nutrients,while that of EM species decreased due to increased competition.As for diversity-productivity relationships(DPRs),in the understorey,both AM and EM tree species demonstrated a positive DPR,suggesting the presence of the niche complementarity effect.In the overstorey,AM species continue to exhibit positive DPR due to their competitive advantage in nutrient-rich environments.In contrast,EM species exhibit negative DPR due to increased competition or less efficient resource use.Additionally,slope influenced forest productivity indirectly by altering the accumulation and distribution of soil nutrients,thereby affecting species distribution and growth conditions.This indirect effect highlights the potential negative impact of slope on soil nutrients within forest ecosystems,as well as its influence on the relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functions.The study reveals how AM and EM trees influence forest productivity through distinct adaptability and competitive strategies across different forest strata,with a particular emphasis on the strata-dependent effects of mycorrhizal association on DPRs.This finding offers a new perspective on how mycorrhizal types modulate the complex relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functions across various strata in temperate forests.展开更多
Artificial cyanobacteria crusts are formed by inoculating soil with cyanobacteria.These crusts help prevent soil erosion and restore soil functionality in degraded croplands.However,how fast the artificial cyanobacter...Artificial cyanobacteria crusts are formed by inoculating soil with cyanobacteria.These crusts help prevent soil erosion and restore soil functionality in degraded croplands.However,how fast the artificial cyanobacteria crusts can be formed is a key issue before their practical application.In addition,the effects of artificial cyanobacteria crusts on soil nutrients and plant growth are not fully explored.This study analyzed the effect of inoculation of cyanobacteria from local biological soil crusts on soil nutrients and Pak-choi(Brassica campestris L.ssp.Chinensis Makino var.communis Tsen et Lee;Chinese cabbage)growth in a cropland,northern China through field experiments by comparing with no fertilizer.The results showed that artificial cyanobacteria crusts were formed on the 18th d after inoculation with a coverage of 56.13%,a thickness of 3.74 mm,and biomass of 22.21μg chla/cm^(2).Artificial cyanobacteria crusts significantly improved the soil organic matter(SOM),NO_(3)^(-)-N,total nitrogen(TN)contents,and the activities of sucrase,alkaline phosphatase,urease,and catalase enzymes of plants on the 50th d after inoculation.Additionally,artificial cyanobacteria crusts led to an increase in plant biomass,improved root morphology,and raised the phosphorus and potassium contents in the plants.Furthermore,the biomass of plant grown with artificial cyanobacteria crusts was comparable with that of grown with chemical fertilizer.The study suggested that,considering plant biomass and soil nutrients,it is feasible to prevent wind erosion in the cropland of arid and semi-arid areas by inoculating cyanobacteria crusts.This study provides new perspectives for the sustainable development and environmental management of cropland in arid and semi-arid areas.展开更多
[Objectives]To elucidate the spatial variation characteristics and fertility status of soil nutrients in small-scale mountain tea gardens and to inform precise fertilization and nutrient management practices in these ...[Objectives]To elucidate the spatial variation characteristics and fertility status of soil nutrients in small-scale mountain tea gardens and to inform precise fertilization and nutrient management practices in these tea gardens.[Methods]Based on soil nutrient data collected from 72 sampling points in the tea garden in 2021,which covers an area of approximately 2.4 km^(2),the spatial variation characteristics were analyzed using geostatistical methods.Spatial distribution maps of soil pH,total nitrogen,available phosphorus,and available potassium were generated employing the ordinary Kriging interpolation method in Surfer 23 software.Furthermore,a quantitative assessment of soil fertility was performed utilizing the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.[Results]The majority of the soil in the tea garden was acidic.The average values for pH,organic matter,total nitrogen,available phosphorus,and available potassium were 4.66,14.4 g/kg,0.9 g/kg,6.2 mg/kg,and 78.1 mg/kg,respectively.The pH exhibited the lowest coefficient of variation at 12.85%,indicating low variability.The coefficients of variation for organic matter,total nitrogen,and available potassium ranged from 31.94%to 49.88%,reflecting moderate variability.In contrast,the coefficient of variation for available phosphorus was 243.41%,indicating high variability.The distribution of soil pH and available phosphorus in the study area was relatively uniform.In contrast,total nitrogen content exhibited a spatial pattern characterized by higher concentrations in the western region and lower concentrations in the eastern region.Organic matter content displayed a spatial distribution pattern with lower values centrally and higher values along the periphery.The distribution of available potassium content was marked by several pronounced"elevations"and"depressions",with notably lower levels observed in the northeastern region of the garden.Total nitrogen and organic matter were the most significant contributors to the integrated fertility index(I_(IFI)),each with a weight value of 0.29,whereas pH had the lowest weight value of 0.14.The proportions of tea garden soils categorized under I_(IFI)grades I to V were 0.26%,69.55%,25.89%,4.30%,and 0.0022%,respectively.[Conclusions]It is recommended that the application of phosphorus fertilizer should be reduced in the study area,whereas the use of potassium fertilizer should be increased in the northeastern region.Additionally,the incorporation of organic and nitrogen fertilizers is advised to improve the soil s capacity for water and nutrient retention.展开更多
Improving crop productivity and soil fertility through the balanced application of inorganic and organic nutrient sources is a sustainable approach in modern agriculture.Char land soils,widely distributed in riverine ...Improving crop productivity and soil fertility through the balanced application of inorganic and organic nutrient sources is a sustainable approach in modern agriculture.Char land soils,widely distributed in riverine Bangladesh,are generally low in organic matter status and deficient in necessary nutrient elements for crop production.Addressing this challenge,the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of various organic nutrient sources with inorganic fertilizers on crop yields,nutrient uptake,and soil fertility in farm(L1)and char land(L2)of Brahmaputra River in Mymensingh,Bangladesh from 2022(Y1)to 2023(Y2).For each location,eight treatments viz.T1(Control),T2[100%recommended fertilizer dose(RFD)],T3(75%RFD),T4(75%N from RFD 25%N from cow dung),T5(75%+N from RFD 25%N from poultry manure),T6(75%N from RFD 25%N from vermicompost),T7(75%N from++RFD 25%N from household compost)and T8(75%N from RFD 25%N from rice straw compost)were arranged in++a randomized complete block design with three replications using Wheat–Mungbean–T.Aman rice cropping pattern where three way interaction was considered for results.Treatment T5 performed the best in both years in both locations as it enhanced the yield components(p 0.05)and caused yield increment over control.The yield improvement in<Char land soils was higher than that in farm soils.For all three crops,treatment T5 consistently augmented the uptake of nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,and sulphur by different parts of the crops and improved soil fertility properties such as organic matter status,cation exchange capacity,total nitrogen,available phosphorus,and sulphur as well as exchangeable potassium in both locations in both years.Cost and return analysis of different treatments for the whole cropping system showed that the highest marginal benefit-cost ratio(16.35 and 15.07)and gross return(about Tk 768,595/ha and 728,341/ha)were obtained from the T5 treatment in farm soils and Char land soils,respectively.Followed by poultry manure,vermicompost performed well in addition to mineral fertilizers for improving crop yield and soil fertility but its economic efficiency was less due to high input cost.These findings may be useful to the smallholder farmers in char areas,who could benefit from increased productivity,reduced reliance on chemical fertilizers,and improved soil health,contributing to the long-term sustainability of char land agriculture.展开更多
Objective The effects of prolonged exposure to persistently elevated atmospheric pollutants,commonly termed air pollution waves,on fertility intentions remain inadequately understood.This study aims to investigate the...Objective The effects of prolonged exposure to persistently elevated atmospheric pollutants,commonly termed air pollution waves,on fertility intentions remain inadequately understood.This study aims to investigate the association between particulate matter(PM)exposure and fertility intentions.Methods In this nationwide cross-sectional study,we analyzed data from 10,747 participants(5496 females and 5251 males).PM waves were defined as periods lasting 3‒6 consecutive days during which the daily average concentrations exceeded China’s Ambient Air Quality Standards Grade II thresholds(PM2.5>75μg/m3 and PM10>150μg/m3).We employed multivariate logistic regression models to assess the association between exposure to PM waves and fertility intentions.Results Significant inverse associations were detected between exposure to PM2.5 wave events(characterized by concentrations exceeding 75μg/m3 for durations of 4‒6 days,P<0.05)and PM10 wave events(defined as concentrations exceeding 150μg/m3 for 6 consecutive days,P<0.05)and fertility intentions among females.In contrast,neither the PM2.5 wave nor the PM10 wave events demonstrated statistically significant correlations with fertility intentions in males(P>0.05 for all comparisons).The potentially susceptible subgroup was identified as females aged 20–30 years.Conclusions Our results provide the first evidence that PM2.5 and PM10 waves are associated with a reduction in female fertility intentions,offering critical insights for the development of public health policies and strategies aimed at individual protection.展开更多

Summary:With delayed childbearing in women,preservation of fertility is an important issue for reproductive-age patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma(EOC).Fertility-sparing surgery(FSS)can be considered in patien...Summary:With delayed childbearing in women,preservation of fertility is an important issue for reproductive-age patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma(EOC).Fertility-sparing surgery(FSS)can be considered in patients with early-stage disease in order to preserve fertility and improve quality of life.In order to evaluate oncological safety,attitudes toward childbearing and reproductive outcomes in women with EOC who underwent FSS,this multicenter retrospective study was conducted.Between January 2005 and December 2014,total of 87 young women with FIGO stage I EOC were included,with their clinicopathologic parameters in relation to disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)assessed.Attitudes toward childbearing,ovarian function and fertility were studied in women undergoing FSS(n=36).As a result,in contrast to radical sur ery,FSS did not affect prognosis by Kaplan-Meier curves(log-rank test;DFS:P=0.484;OS:P=0.125).However,two of the three recurrence cases and both death cases were in FSS group stage IC.All women undergoing FSS resumed regular menstrual periods after chemotherapy.Only 16(44.44%)had tried to conceive,and 17 pregnancies occurred in 15(93.75%)women.Among 20 women who did not attempt conception,the most common reason was not being married(70%),followed by already having children(15%).In summary,FSS is considered safe in young women with stage IA EOC.Regular menstruation and good obstetric outcomes can be achieved.This study also provides some insight into the attitudes and social factors regarding fertility in EOC patients.展开更多

The inability to achieve conception and subsequently have a ch...Introduction: In Nigeria, a major reason for marriage is procreation and married couples look forward to having children within a year or two of marriage. The inability to achieve conception and subsequently have a child among couples may lead to psychological complications. Objective: This study assessed the psychological impact of infertility and its management on women receiving treatment at a Fertility Specialist Hospital in a poor resource setting. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 376 consenting married women who sought and received fertility treatment at a private Fertility Specialist Hospital, located at Abakaliki, South-East Nigeria between May 1, 2017 and May 31, 2022. Socio-demographic and Structured questionnaires were administered to the participants over a 5-year period. Results: The mean age of the women at presentation was 36.9 (±7.2 SD) years. The majority of the women (227) presented with secondary infertility accounting for 60.4%, while the rest had primary infertility (χ<sup>2</sup> = 16.18, P = 0.001). Male-only factor infertility accounted for 22.9% of all the infertility cases, female-only factor 21.3% while both (male and female factors co-existing) accounted for 52.7% of all the cases. The commonest cause of infertility in the study was poor sperm parameters (176) accounting for 46.8% of cases, tubal factor 19.1% and anovulatory factor 22.3% (χ<sup>2</sup> = 214.21, P = 0.001). Three hundred and thirty four (88.8%) felt depressed, 266 (70.7%) felt guilty about the past, and 222 (59.0%) had suicidal tendencies because of the infertility ordeal. Two hundred and fifty one (66.8%) felt inferior, 237 (63.0%) cried often and 174 (46.3%) were socially withdrawn. However, 10.4% of the women felt satisfied and well. These negative psychological feelings were statistically significant. Concerning the effect on marriage, the closeness of couples was reduced significantly in 57.7%, 62.8% had reduced coital intimacy, 79.3% had frequent quarrel and misunderstanding, 27.9% had threats of divorce while 4.5% had actually divorced and 11.% separated. However, there was no negative effect of infertility in 8.8% of couples. Conclusion: Psychological issues associated with infertility and its management in women include feelings of depression, guilt feelings, suicidal ideation, weeping episodes, social withdrawal, feelings of inferiority, reduced libido, and poverty of intimacy with frequent quarrels and misunderstanding. Women appear to bear more of the psychological issues associated with infertility. Early marriage on the part of the women, preservation of their reproductive youthful ages, and a better understanding of the concept of infertility by the couple will not only reduce the prevalence of infertility but will also reduce the dangerous psychological issues associated with infertility.展开更多
Pingxiang-dominant genic male sterile rice (PDGMSR) was the first dominant genic male sterile mutant identified in rice (Oryza sativa L.), and the corresponding dominant genic male sterile gene was designated as M...Pingxiang-dominant genic male sterile rice (PDGMSR) was the first dominant genic male sterile mutant identified in rice (Oryza sativa L.), and the corresponding dominant genic male sterile gene was designated as Ms-p. The fertility of PDGMSR can be restored by introduction of a dominant epistatic fertility restoring gene in some rice varieties. In the present study, E823, an indica inbred rice variety, restored the fertility of PDGMSR, and the genetic pattern was found to be consistent with a dominant epistatic model, therefore, the dominant epistatic fertility restorer gene was designated as Rfe. The F2 population from the cross of PDGMSR/E823 was developed to map gene Rfe. The F2 plants with the genotypes Ms-pMs-pRferfe or Ms-pms-pRferfe were used to construct a fertile pool, and the corresponding sterile plants with genotypes Ms-pMs-prferfe or Ms-pms-prferfe were used to con- struct a sterile pool. The fertility restoring gene Rfe was mapped to one side of the microsatellite markers RM311 and RM3152 on rice chromosome 10, with genetic distances of 7.9 cM and 3.6 cM, respectively. The microsatellite markers around the location of the Ms-p gene were used to finely map the Ms-p gene. The findings of this study indicated that the microsatellite markers RM171 and RM6745 flanked the Ms-p gene, and the distances were 0.3 cM and 3.0 cM, respectively. On the basis of the sequence of rice chromosome 10, the physical distance between the two markers is approximately 730 kb. These findings facilitates molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS) of genes Ms-p and Rfe in rice breeding programs, and cloning them in the future.展开更多

Results showed that Jiyuan was one of the potential areas which could produce tobacco leaves with high quality. Its main properties of soli fertility were as follows:the content of total nitrogen,alkali-hydrolysable nitrogen,olsen-phosphorus and organic matters were suitable for high-quality tobacco production; especially,all the flue-cured tobacco growing areas in Henan Province were rich in available potassium; besides,the concentrate of water soluble chloride ion was at reasonable level. The problem was that the micro-elements such as Zn-DTPA and available boron content were at a low level in individual areas. Based on this survey,the recommendations for fertilization in Jiyuan such as stabilizing nitrogen rate,increasing phosphorus,stabilizing potassium,and applying boron commonly and supplementing zinc for the deficient soils were put forward.展开更多

[Method] Nutrients of soil samples in 3 006 plots were measured, and fertility characters were evaluated based on the improved Nemerow composite index method. [Result] Soil in Guangxi sugarcane-growing area was sticky and acidic with an average pH value of 4.94. Available B was insufficient with an average content of 0.24 mg/kg. Exchangeable Mg was low with an average content of 62.34 mg/kg. Organic matter content was moderate. The contents of alkali N, rapidly available P, rapidly available K, available Cu, available Zn, available Mn and available Ca were moderate. However, unlike the soil in high-yield areas, there was unbalanced nutri- tion distribution. According to Nemerow integrated index method, soil fertility in sug- arcane-growing areas was grade lU, namely low fertility. The integrated fertility index was 0.56. Individual fertility indexes including rapid available Cu, rapidly available Zn, exchangeable Mg, available Mn, rapidly available manganese Mn and alkali N were at poor level. Other indexes were at medium or high level. [Conclusion] It could be concluded that soil fertility in Guangxi sugarcane-growing area was gener- ally low, The above-mentioned evaluation method could help to build a quantified and scientific soil fertility evaluation system and reduce the impacts of subjective factors during evaluation process.展开更多
文摘Objective Selective estrogen receptor modulators(SERMs)have demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of hypogonadism in males and male factor infertility.Two SERMs,clomiphene citrate and tamoxifen,are now prescribed for off-label use to treat both conditions in males.However,existing literature compares mixed protocols with active management.We aimed to conduct a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of clomiphene and tamoxifen versus placebo on natural pregnancy rates.Methods We conducted a comprehensive systematic review of electronic databases:MEDLINE,PubMed/PMC,EMBASE,CINAHL,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL),Scopus,Google Scholar,and Web of Science.Articles satisfying all selection criteria were analyzed.The primary outcome was the incidence of pregnancy after receiving the treatment.Secondary outcomes included serum follicle-stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone,and testosterone levels,and sperm count and motility.We calculated the pooled odds ratio,risk ratio,and risk difference to ascertain possible alterations in the direction of the pooled effect size.Results Ten randomized controlled trials were ultimately included and underwent data extraction.Clomiphene citrate and placebo groups had similar pregnancy rates(10.4%and 7.1%,respectively;odds ratio 1.30[95%confidence interval 0.27–6.17];p=0.74).No meta-analysis could be calculated for pregnancy rates in tamoxifen versus placebo groups.Heterogeneity among the studies of both SERMs ranged from low to high.Conclusion Although clomiphene citrate and tamoxifen are often used off-label for the treatment of male infertility secondary to hypogonadism,studies of SERMs in the treatment of idiopathic male factor infertility are limited and heterogenous,preventing this meta-analysis from investigating the efficacy of SERMs on male infertility.The effect of clomiphene citrate or tamoxifen on the pregnancy rate remains uncertain.
文摘As a paddy—upland rotation system, tobacco—rice rotation hastypical characteristics in the formation and evolution of soil fertility duringthe tobacco season with dry farming and rice season with water cultivation.To scientifically unveil the soil fertility formation process and grade thesoil fertility in tobacco—rice rotation areas, we collected 372 soil samplesfrom 11 tobacco stations (Haotang, Aoquan, Chengjiao, Renyi, Fangyuan,Anping, Huangsha, Taiping, Tushi, Dashiqiao, and Baimangying) in thetypical tobacco—rice rotation areas of Chenzhou and Yongzhou in SouthernHunan. The physical, chemical, and biological indicators of the soil sampleswere measured, and the tobacco and rice yields of each tobacco stationwere investigated. Machine learning was employed to screen the keyindicators influencing the tobacco yield, and a comprehensive numericalanalysis method combining principal component analysis and discriminantanalysis were adopted to cluster the sampling points, analyze their fertilityformation processes, and grade the soil fertility. The results showed thatclay content, available phosphorus, plow layer depth, slit-to-clay ratio, totalnitrogen, basal respiration, and organic carbon were identified as seven keyindicators influencing the tobacco yield. The results of the comprehensivenumerical analysis predicted two main processes involved in the formationof soil fertility in tobacco—rice rotation areas. One was the soil maturationprocess related to soil carbon and nitrogen cycling, and the other was theprocess of changes in soil physical properties such as clay content and slitto-clay ratio. According to the established soil fertility grading methodfor tobacco—rice rotation areas, the soil fertility of 11 tobacco stationswas graded. The results showed that the soil fertility was high in Haotang,Aoquan, Renyi, and Dashiqiao, medium in Huangsha and Tushi, and low inAnping, Baimangying, and Taiping. The tobacco and rice yields confirmedthat this grading standard can be effectively applied to the grading of soilfertility in the tobacco—rice rotation areas in Southern Hunan and canprovide a scientific basis for soil management in tobacco—rice rotation.

文摘Organic material combined with inorganic fertilizer has been shown to greatly improve crop yield and maintain soil fertility globally. However, it remains unclear if crop yield and soil fertility can be sustained in the long term under the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers. Three long-term field trials were conducted to investigate the effects of organic amendments on the grain sustainable yield index(SYI), soil fertility index(SFI)and nutrient balance in maize–wheat cropping systems of central and southern China during 1991–2019. Five treatments were included in the trials: 1) no fertilization(control);2) balanced mineral fertilization(NPK);3) NPK plus manure(NPKM);4) high dose of NPK plus manure(1.5NPKM);and 5) NPK plus crop straw(NPKS). Over time, the grain yields of wheat and maize showed an increasing trend in all four fertilization treatments at the Yangling(YL) and Zhengzhou(ZZ) locations, while they declined at Qiyang(QY). The grain yield in the NPKM and 1.5NPKM treatments gradually exceeded that of the NPK and NPKS treatments at the QY site. The largest SYI was recorded in the NPKM treatment across the three sites, suggesting that inorganic fertilizer combined with manure can effectively improve crop yield sustainability. Higher SYI values were recorded at the YL and ZZ sites than at the QY site, possibly because the soil was more acid at QY. The key factors affecting grain yield were soil available phosphorus(AP) and available potassium(AK) at the YL and ZZ sites, and pH and AP at the QY site.All fertilization treatments resulted in soil N and P surpluses at the three sites, but soil K surpluses were recorded only at the QY site. The SFI was greater in the 1.5NPKM, NPKM and NPKS treatments than in the NPK treatment by 13.3–40.0 and 16.4–63.6% at the YL and ZZ sites, respectively, and was significantly higher in the NPKM and 1.5NPKM treatments than in the NPK and NPKS treatments at the QY site. A significant, positive linear relationship was found between SFI and crop yield, and SYI and nutrient balance, indicating that grain yield and its sustainability significantly increased with increasing soil fertility. The apparent N, P and K balances positively affected SFI.This study suggests that the appropriate amount of manure mixed with mineral NPK fertilizer is beneficial to the development of sustainable agriculture, which effectively increases the crop yield and yield sustainability by improving soil fertility.

文摘Cyclosporin A fermentation residue(CFR)is a type of organic waste generated during the production of cyclosporin A,which are abundant in nutrients including organic matter,phosphorus,nitrogen and potassium.Inappropriate handling of CFR not only waste valuable bioresources,but may also lead to the cyclosporin A and associated resistance genes into the natural environment,posing a significant threat to ecological system and human health.Land application was an effective way to resource recovery of CFR after aerobic composting(CAC).This study investigated the impact of CAC on soil fertility and environmental safety.The results indicated that CAC could improve soil nutrient contents and enhance enzyme activities.CAC altered the diversity and community composition of soil bacteria,resulting in an increase in the abundance of relevant bacteria beneficial for organic matter decomposition and cyclosporin A degradation.The introduced cyclosporin A(71.69μg/kg)completely degraded within 20 days due to soil biodegradation.The significantly increased abundance of intIl,mdr3,pgp,TSR and pmra in the soil cultivation early stage were restored to the soil background level within 90 days,indicating a reduced risk of antimicrobial resistance.The results demonstrated that reasonable land application of CAC could improve soil fertility without antimicrobial resistance risk,which is helpful for evaluating the resource utilization value and environmental risks of antibiotic fermentation residue after aerobic composting.
文摘Eight indica ( Oryza sativa L.) environment-sensitive genic male-sterile (EGMS) lines, 2-2S, K1405S, F131S, 2136S, Pei-Ai 64S, 1290S, GD-IS and N17S, were sequentially seeded with 10-15 d interval at three sites, Wuhan in 1997, Guiyang in 1997 and Sanya in 1997 and 1998, China. The results of investigations on self-sterilities showed that all of eight EGMS lines had stable sterile periods of longer than 30 d at Wuhan. They can be used for seed production of two-line hybrid rice, but can not reproduce themselves. Their stable sterile periods were shorter than 30 d at Guiyang, they can reproduce themselves and can not be used for hybrid seed production. In Sanya, their stable sterile periods were longer than 150 d, all of eight lines can be used for seed production in summer and autumn and reproduce themselves in winter. The fertility of all eight lines were sensitive to temperature. The sensitive stages, sensitive duration and critical point of temperatures (CPT) of fertility alteration in various lines were different. The sensitive stages of 2-2S and K1405S were from 18 d to 9 d before heading, the sensitive durations were 7-10 d and the CPTs were 23.7-24.5 degreesC. The sensitive stage, sensitive duration and CPT of F131S were from 17 to 5 d before heading, 13 d and 24.3-24.7 degreesC, respectively. The sensitive stage, sensitive duration and CPT of 2136S were from 18 to 12 d before heading, 7 d and 24.6-25.1 degreesC:, respectively. The sensitive stages, sensitive durations of Pei-Ai 64S, 1290S, N17S and GD-1S were from 24 to 13 d before heading and 10-13 d. And their CPTs were 24.6-25.1 degreesC, 25.5-26.2 degreesC, 25.4-26.1 degreesC,, and 24.1-24.7 degreesC, respectively.

文摘BACKGROUND Cervical cancer survivors of childbearing age often face heightened reproductive anxiety due to the direct impact of the disease and its treatments on fertility.This anxiety may exacerbate psychological burdens,including depressive symptoms and fear of recurrence,significantly impacting quality of life.AIM To examine whether reproductive concerns partially mediate the relationship between depressive symptoms and fear of recurrence in cervical cancer patients of childbearing age.METHODS Utilizing a cross-sectional design with convenience sampling,208 eligible cervical cancer patients(aged 18-45 years,stable condition,and aware of diagnosis)from three tertiary hospitals completed validated questionnaires:The Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale,Patient Health Questionnaire-9,and Fear of Cancer Recurrence Questionnaire.Structural equation modeling was used to assess the mediating role of reproductive concerns in the relationship between depression and fear of recurrence.RESULTS Reproductive concerns demonstrated significant positive correlations with depression(r=0.477,P<0.001)and fear of recurrence(r=0.426,P<0.001).Structural equation modeling analysis revealed that reproductive concerns acted as a significant partial mediator between depression and fear of recurrence.The indirect effect via reproductive concerns was significant(β_indirect=0.152,P<0.001),accounting for 28.1% of the total effect of depression on fear of recurrence.CONCLUSION Identified path reveals fertility anxiety links depression to recurrence fear.Targeted psych interventions for repro concerns may ease both in childbearing cervical cancer survivors.

文摘Fertility preservation and pregnancymanagement are critical considerations for patients undergoing organtransplantation.Innovations in assisted reproductive technologies,hormonalmodulation,and personalized medicine have expanded options for these patients,who face unique challenges due to immunosuppressive therapy and organ functionconcerns.This mini-review explores advancements in cryopreservationtechniques,pre-conception counseling,and multidisciplinary strategies forsafe pregnancies post-transplantation.Emphasis is placed on balancing maternalhealth,graft function,and fetal outcomes.The integration of reproductive andtransplant medicine is paving the way for improved quality of life andreproductive autonomy for this patient population.

文摘The symbiotic relationships between trees and different mycorrhizal fungi affect the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships within forest communities,particularly across different strata from the understorey to the overstorey.However,current research on this relationship has not yet reached a definitive conclusion.In this study,we used regression analyses and structural equation modelling based on a 9-ha mixed broadleaved-Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis)forest plot to explore the effects of different types of mycorrhizal fungi(arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)and ectomycorrhizal(EM)fungi)on the relationship between tree species diversity and productivity.The study found that the dominance and productivity of AM species increased in the understorey with increasing soil nutrients,whereas the productivity of EM species declined despite increasing diversity.In the overstorey,the productivity of AM species continued to increase with increasing soil nutrients,while that of EM species decreased due to increased competition.As for diversity-productivity relationships(DPRs),in the understorey,both AM and EM tree species demonstrated a positive DPR,suggesting the presence of the niche complementarity effect.In the overstorey,AM species continue to exhibit positive DPR due to their competitive advantage in nutrient-rich environments.In contrast,EM species exhibit negative DPR due to increased competition or less efficient resource use.Additionally,slope influenced forest productivity indirectly by altering the accumulation and distribution of soil nutrients,thereby affecting species distribution and growth conditions.This indirect effect highlights the potential negative impact of slope on soil nutrients within forest ecosystems,as well as its influence on the relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functions.The study reveals how AM and EM trees influence forest productivity through distinct adaptability and competitive strategies across different forest strata,with a particular emphasis on the strata-dependent effects of mycorrhizal association on DPRs.This finding offers a new perspective on how mycorrhizal types modulate the complex relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functions across various strata in temperate forests.

文摘Artificial cyanobacteria crusts are formed by inoculating soil with cyanobacteria.These crusts help prevent soil erosion and restore soil functionality in degraded croplands.However,how fast the artificial cyanobacteria crusts can be formed is a key issue before their practical application.In addition,the effects of artificial cyanobacteria crusts on soil nutrients and plant growth are not fully explored.This study analyzed the effect of inoculation of cyanobacteria from local biological soil crusts on soil nutrients and Pak-choi(Brassica campestris L.ssp.Chinensis Makino var.communis Tsen et Lee;Chinese cabbage)growth in a cropland,northern China through field experiments by comparing with no fertilizer.The results showed that artificial cyanobacteria crusts were formed on the 18th d after inoculation with a coverage of 56.13%,a thickness of 3.74 mm,and biomass of 22.21μg chla/cm^(2).Artificial cyanobacteria crusts significantly improved the soil organic matter(SOM),NO_(3)^(-)-N,total nitrogen(TN)contents,and the activities of sucrase,alkaline phosphatase,urease,and catalase enzymes of plants on the 50th d after inoculation.Additionally,artificial cyanobacteria crusts led to an increase in plant biomass,improved root morphology,and raised the phosphorus and potassium contents in the plants.Furthermore,the biomass of plant grown with artificial cyanobacteria crusts was comparable with that of grown with chemical fertilizer.The study suggested that,considering plant biomass and soil nutrients,it is feasible to prevent wind erosion in the cropland of arid and semi-arid areas by inoculating cyanobacteria crusts.This study provides new perspectives for the sustainable development and environmental management of cropland in arid and semi-arid areas.

文摘[Objectives]To elucidate the spatial variation characteristics and fertility status of soil nutrients in small-scale mountain tea gardens and to inform precise fertilization and nutrient management practices in these tea gardens.[Methods]Based on soil nutrient data collected from 72 sampling points in the tea garden in 2021,which covers an area of approximately 2.4 km^(2),the spatial variation characteristics were analyzed using geostatistical methods.Spatial distribution maps of soil pH,total nitrogen,available phosphorus,and available potassium were generated employing the ordinary Kriging interpolation method in Surfer 23 software.Furthermore,a quantitative assessment of soil fertility was performed utilizing the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.[Results]The majority of the soil in the tea garden was acidic.The average values for pH,organic matter,total nitrogen,available phosphorus,and available potassium were 4.66,14.4 g/kg,0.9 g/kg,6.2 mg/kg,and 78.1 mg/kg,respectively.The pH exhibited the lowest coefficient of variation at 12.85%,indicating low variability.The coefficients of variation for organic matter,total nitrogen,and available potassium ranged from 31.94%to 49.88%,reflecting moderate variability.In contrast,the coefficient of variation for available phosphorus was 243.41%,indicating high variability.The distribution of soil pH and available phosphorus in the study area was relatively uniform.In contrast,total nitrogen content exhibited a spatial pattern characterized by higher concentrations in the western region and lower concentrations in the eastern region.Organic matter content displayed a spatial distribution pattern with lower values centrally and higher values along the periphery.The distribution of available potassium content was marked by several pronounced"elevations"and"depressions",with notably lower levels observed in the northeastern region of the garden.Total nitrogen and organic matter were the most significant contributors to the integrated fertility index(I_(IFI)),each with a weight value of 0.29,whereas pH had the lowest weight value of 0.14.The proportions of tea garden soils categorized under I_(IFI)grades I to V were 0.26%,69.55%,25.89%,4.30%,and 0.0022%,respectively.[Conclusions]It is recommended that the application of phosphorus fertilizer should be reduced in the study area,whereas the use of potassium fertilizer should be increased in the northeastern region.Additionally,the incorporation of organic and nitrogen fertilizers is advised to improve the soil s capacity for water and nutrient retention.

文摘Improving crop productivity and soil fertility through the balanced application of inorganic and organic nutrient sources is a sustainable approach in modern agriculture.Char land soils,widely distributed in riverine Bangladesh,are generally low in organic matter status and deficient in necessary nutrient elements for crop production.Addressing this challenge,the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of various organic nutrient sources with inorganic fertilizers on crop yields,nutrient uptake,and soil fertility in farm(L1)and char land(L2)of Brahmaputra River in Mymensingh,Bangladesh from 2022(Y1)to 2023(Y2).For each location,eight treatments viz.T1(Control),T2[100%recommended fertilizer dose(RFD)],T3(75%RFD),T4(75%N from RFD 25%N from cow dung),T5(75%+N from RFD 25%N from poultry manure),T6(75%N from RFD 25%N from vermicompost),T7(75%N from++RFD 25%N from household compost)and T8(75%N from RFD 25%N from rice straw compost)were arranged in++a randomized complete block design with three replications using Wheat–Mungbean–T.Aman rice cropping pattern where three way interaction was considered for results.Treatment T5 performed the best in both years in both locations as it enhanced the yield components(p 0.05)and caused yield increment over control.The yield improvement in<Char land soils was higher than that in farm soils.For all three crops,treatment T5 consistently augmented the uptake of nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,and sulphur by different parts of the crops and improved soil fertility properties such as organic matter status,cation exchange capacity,total nitrogen,available phosphorus,and sulphur as well as exchangeable potassium in both locations in both years.Cost and return analysis of different treatments for the whole cropping system showed that the highest marginal benefit-cost ratio(16.35 and 15.07)and gross return(about Tk 768,595/ha and 728,341/ha)were obtained from the T5 treatment in farm soils and Char land soils,respectively.Followed by poultry manure,vermicompost performed well in addition to mineral fertilizers for improving crop yield and soil fertility but its economic efficiency was less due to high input cost.These findings may be useful to the smallholder farmers in char areas,who could benefit from increased productivity,reduced reliance on chemical fertilizers,and improved soil health,contributing to the long-term sustainability of char land agriculture.

文摘Objective The effects of prolonged exposure to persistently elevated atmospheric pollutants,commonly termed air pollution waves,on fertility intentions remain inadequately understood.This study aims to investigate the association between particulate matter(PM)exposure and fertility intentions.Methods In this nationwide cross-sectional study,we analyzed data from 10,747 participants(5496 females and 5251 males).PM waves were defined as periods lasting 3‒6 consecutive days during which the daily average concentrations exceeded China’s Ambient Air Quality Standards Grade II thresholds(PM2.5>75μg/m3 and PM10>150μg/m3).We employed multivariate logistic regression models to assess the association between exposure to PM waves and fertility intentions.Results Significant inverse associations were detected between exposure to PM2.5 wave events(characterized by concentrations exceeding 75μg/m3 for durations of 4‒6 days,P<0.05)and PM10 wave events(defined as concentrations exceeding 150μg/m3 for 6 consecutive days,P<0.05)and fertility intentions among females.In contrast,neither the PM2.5 wave nor the PM10 wave events demonstrated statistically significant correlations with fertility intentions in males(P>0.05 for all comparisons).The potentially susceptible subgroup was identified as females aged 20–30 years.Conclusions Our results provide the first evidence that PM2.5 and PM10 waves are associated with a reduction in female fertility intentions,offering critical insights for the development of public health policies and strategies aimed at individual protection.

文摘The ability of natural conception decreases with age,leading many advanced-age women with fertility desire begin to attempt in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(IVF-ET)technique nowadays.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)believes that human body undergoes periodic changes corresponding to the natural rhythms.Women exhibit distinct physiological lunar rhythms of the thoroughfare vessel and the conception vessel,as well as pathological rhythms during the menstrual cycle and IVF-ET cycle.Based on the theory of TCM temporal rhythm,this paper discusses the pathogenesis characteristics of infertility in advanced-age women at different stages.It believes that acupuncture intervention should comply with the following ideas:determining main acupoints based on disease differentiation,with a preference for the acupoints on the thoroughfare vessel,the conception vessel,spleen meridian and kidney meridian,as well as the back-shu points of the liver,spleen and kidney;determining the supplementary acupoints based on syndrome differentiation and symptoms;determining the supplementary acupoints based on time differentiation of lunar rhythm of the thoroughfare vessel and the conception vessel,and integrating both reinforcing and reducing techniques.During the process of intervention,the physical and mental states were balanced simultaneously.
文摘Selecting the embryo with the highest implantation potential is a top priority in in-vitro fertilization(IVF)centers.Few studies have explored the relationship between day 5 blastocyst morphokinetics and implantation outcomes[1].Despite numerous time-lapse studies,the findings often conflict due to differences in patient demographics,lab conditions,and protocols,such as oxygen concentration[2].Thus,there is ongoing debate regarding which parameters are most predictive of implantation.

文摘Summary:With delayed childbearing in women,preservation of fertility is an important issue for reproductive-age patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma(EOC).Fertility-sparing surgery(FSS)can be considered in patients with early-stage disease in order to preserve fertility and improve quality of life.In order to evaluate oncological safety,attitudes toward childbearing and reproductive outcomes in women with EOC who underwent FSS,this multicenter retrospective study was conducted.Between January 2005 and December 2014,total of 87 young women with FIGO stage I EOC were included,with their clinicopathologic parameters in relation to disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)assessed.Attitudes toward childbearing,ovarian function and fertility were studied in women undergoing FSS(n=36).As a result,in contrast to radical sur ery,FSS did not affect prognosis by Kaplan-Meier curves(log-rank test;DFS:P=0.484;OS:P=0.125).However,two of the three recurrence cases and both death cases were in FSS group stage IC.All women undergoing FSS resumed regular menstrual periods after chemotherapy.Only 16(44.44%)had tried to conceive,and 17 pregnancies occurred in 15(93.75%)women.Among 20 women who did not attempt conception,the most common reason was not being married(70%),followed by already having children(15%).In summary,FSS is considered safe in young women with stage IA EOC.Regular menstruation and good obstetric outcomes can be achieved.This study also provides some insight into the attitudes and social factors regarding fertility in EOC patients.
文摘Spermatozoa are recognized as foreign cells by both male and female immune systems,leading to the production of antisperm antibodies(ASAs)when sperm are exposed to immune system due to a breach in the mucosal barrier.ASAs can be found in both sexes,though concentrations vary by individual and sex.This review examines ASAs production,their specific binding locations on sperm,and how ASAs may impair key sperm functions,including motility,viability,acrosome reaction,and capacitation.While ASAs are known to potentially interfere with sperm quality and sperm binding to zona pellucida in both humans and livestock,their impact on fertility remains debated,as ASAs are also detected in a significant number of fertile individuals.Furthermore,the practical relevance of ASAs screening in fertility assessment lacks consensus,with some findings suggesting that ASAs might even aid fertilization under certain conditions.By compiling the information on ASAs and their effects on semen quality and fertility,this review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of ASAs in infertility.
文摘Introduction: In Nigeria, a major reason for marriage is procreation and married couples look forward to having children within a year or two of marriage. The inability to achieve conception and subsequently have a child among couples may lead to psychological complications. Objective: This study assessed the psychological impact of infertility and its management on women receiving treatment at a Fertility Specialist Hospital in a poor resource setting. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 376 consenting married women who sought and received fertility treatment at a private Fertility Specialist Hospital, located at Abakaliki, South-East Nigeria between May 1, 2017 and May 31, 2022. Socio-demographic and Structured questionnaires were administered to the participants over a 5-year period. Results: The mean age of the women at presentation was 36.9 (±7.2 SD) years. The majority of the women (227) presented with secondary infertility accounting for 60.4%, while the rest had primary infertility (χ<sup>2</sup> = 16.18, P = 0.001). Male-only factor infertility accounted for 22.9% of all the infertility cases, female-only factor 21.3% while both (male and female factors co-existing) accounted for 52.7% of all the cases. The commonest cause of infertility in the study was poor sperm parameters (176) accounting for 46.8% of cases, tubal factor 19.1% and anovulatory factor 22.3% (χ<sup>2</sup> = 214.21, P = 0.001). Three hundred and thirty four (88.8%) felt depressed, 266 (70.7%) felt guilty about the past, and 222 (59.0%) had suicidal tendencies because of the infertility ordeal. Two hundred and fifty one (66.8%) felt inferior, 237 (63.0%) cried often and 174 (46.3%) were socially withdrawn. However, 10.4% of the women felt satisfied and well. These negative psychological feelings were statistically significant. Concerning the effect on marriage, the closeness of couples was reduced significantly in 57.7%, 62.8% had reduced coital intimacy, 79.3% had frequent quarrel and misunderstanding, 27.9% had threats of divorce while 4.5% had actually divorced and 11.% separated. However, there was no negative effect of infertility in 8.8% of couples. Conclusion: Psychological issues associated with infertility and its management in women include feelings of depression, guilt feelings, suicidal ideation, weeping episodes, social withdrawal, feelings of inferiority, reduced libido, and poverty of intimacy with frequent quarrels and misunderstanding. Women appear to bear more of the psychological issues associated with infertility. Early marriage on the part of the women, preservation of their reproductive youthful ages, and a better understanding of the concept of infertility by the couple will not only reduce the prevalence of infertility but will also reduce the dangerous psychological issues associated with infertility.

文摘Pingxiang-dominant genic male sterile rice (PDGMSR) was the first dominant genic male sterile mutant identified in rice (Oryza sativa L.), and the corresponding dominant genic male sterile gene was designated as Ms-p. The fertility of PDGMSR can be restored by introduction of a dominant epistatic fertility restoring gene in some rice varieties. In the present study, E823, an indica inbred rice variety, restored the fertility of PDGMSR, and the genetic pattern was found to be consistent with a dominant epistatic model, therefore, the dominant epistatic fertility restorer gene was designated as Rfe. The F2 population from the cross of PDGMSR/E823 was developed to map gene Rfe. The F2 plants with the genotypes Ms-pMs-pRferfe or Ms-pms-pRferfe were used to construct a fertile pool, and the corresponding sterile plants with genotypes Ms-pMs-prferfe or Ms-pms-prferfe were used to con- struct a sterile pool. The fertility restoring gene Rfe was mapped to one side of the microsatellite markers RM311 and RM3152 on rice chromosome 10, with genetic distances of 7.9 cM and 3.6 cM, respectively. The microsatellite markers around the location of the Ms-p gene were used to finely map the Ms-p gene. The findings of this study indicated that the microsatellite markers RM171 and RM6745 flanked the Ms-p gene, and the distances were 0.3 cM and 3.0 cM, respectively. On the basis of the sequence of rice chromosome 10, the physical distance between the two markers is approximately 730 kb. These findings facilitates molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS) of genes Ms-p and Rfe in rice breeding programs, and cloning them in the future.

文摘Soil fertility properties of the main tobacco growing area in Jiyuan (Shaoyuan,Wangwu,Xiaye and Daiyu) in west Henan Province were analyzed. Results showed that Jiyuan was one of the potential areas which could produce tobacco leaves with high quality. Its main properties of soli fertility were as follows:the content of total nitrogen,alkali-hydrolysable nitrogen,olsen-phosphorus and organic matters were suitable for high-quality tobacco production; especially,all the flue-cured tobacco growing areas in Henan Province were rich in available potassium; besides,the concentrate of water soluble chloride ion was at reasonable level. The problem was that the micro-elements such as Zn-DTPA and available boron content were at a low level in individual areas. Based on this survey,the recommendations for fertilization in Jiyuan such as stabilizing nitrogen rate,increasing phosphorus,stabilizing potassium,and applying boron commonly and supplementing zinc for the deficient soils were put forward.

文摘[Objective] Soil fertility in Guangxi sugarcane-growing areas was evaluated to provide theoretical reference for sugarcane scientific planting and fertilization and further optimize evaluation system for soil fertility in Guangxi sugarcane-growing ar- eas. [Method] Nutrients of soil samples in 3 006 plots were measured, and fertility characters were evaluated based on the improved Nemerow composite index method. [Result] Soil in Guangxi sugarcane-growing area was sticky and acidic with an average pH value of 4.94. Available B was insufficient with an average content of 0.24 mg/kg. Exchangeable Mg was low with an average content of 62.34 mg/kg. Organic matter content was moderate. The contents of alkali N, rapidly available P, rapidly available K, available Cu, available Zn, available Mn and available Ca were moderate. However, unlike the soil in high-yield areas, there was unbalanced nutri- tion distribution. According to Nemerow integrated index method, soil fertility in sug- arcane-growing areas was grade lU, namely low fertility. The integrated fertility index was 0.56. Individual fertility indexes including rapid available Cu, rapidly available Zn, exchangeable Mg, available Mn, rapidly available manganese Mn and alkali N were at poor level. Other indexes were at medium or high level. [Conclusion] It could be concluded that soil fertility in Guangxi sugarcane-growing area was gener- ally low, The above-mentioned evaluation method could help to build a quantified and scientific soil fertility evaluation system and reduce the impacts of subjective factors during evaluation process.
