The hydrocarbon generation potential of the mudstone source rock in the Jurassic Shuixigou Group,the Turpan-Hami Basin,and indicative significance for oil and gas exploration

The coal-bearing source rocks in the Jurassic Shuixigou Group have received widespread attention as the primary source rocks in the Turpan-Hami Basin of China,but the hydrocarbon generation potential and process of the mudstone in the Shuixigou Group,especially the mudstone at the top of the Sangonghe Formation,are unclear.Taking the source rocks of the Xishanyao Formation and the Sangonghe Formation as objectives,this study conducted rock pyrolysis and gold tube simulation experiment to investigate their hydrocarbon generation characteristics and differences.Our results indicate that the source rocks of the Xishanyao Formation include mudstone,carbonaceous mudstone and coal,and the quality of the source rocks is highly heterogeneous;the source rocks of the Sangonghe Formation are mainly composed of mudstone,and it is a good gas source rock.Simulation experiments found that the activation energy required for the generation of gaseous hydrocarbons by the mudstone of the Sangonghe Formation is lower than that by the mudstone of the Xishanyao Formation.The hydrocarbon generation process can be divided into three stages for both formations,but the gas generation potential of the Xishanyao Formation mudstone is higher than that of the Sangonghe Formation mudstone.A large amount of hydrocarbon was generated by the mudstone of the Xishanyao Formation when entering late thermal evolution,of which methane is dominant,mainly from the demethylation reaction of mature kerogen.On the other hand,a large amount of hydrocarbon was generated by the mudstone of the Sangonghe Formation in the early stage of thermal evolution,of which light hydrocarbon and wet gas are dominant,mainly from the early cracking stage of kerogen.This difference may be attributed to the structure of kerogen.The mudstone of the Xishanyao Formation is conducive to the formation of highly mature dry gas reservoirs,while the mudstone of the Sangonghe Formation is conducive to the formation of low maturity condensate gas and volatile oil reservoirs.The research result provides a scientific basis for the comparison of oil and gas sources and the evaluation of oil and gas resources in the Turpan-Hami Basin. 展开更多

To accurately investigate the evolution characteristics and generation mechanism of retained oil,the study analyzed organic-rich lacustrine shale samples from the Paleogene Kongdian Formation in Cangdong Sag,Bohai Bay Basin.This analysis involves Rock-Eval pyrolysis,pyrolysis simulation experiments,Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer(GC-MS),and reactive molecular dynamics simulations(ReaxFF).The results revealed the retained oil primarily consisted of n-alkanes with carbon numbers ranging from C14 to C36.The generation of retained oil occurred through three stages.A slow growth stage of production rate was observed before reaching the peak of oil production in Stage Ⅰ.Stage Ⅱ involved a rapid increase in oil retention,with C12-C17 and C24-C32 serving as the primary components,increasing continuously during the pyrolysis process.The generation process involved the cleavage of weak bonds,including bridging bonds(hydroxyl,oxy,peroxy,imino,amino,and nitro),ether bonds,and acid amides in the first stage(Ro=0.50%-0.75%).The carbon chains in aromatic ring structures with heteroatomic functional groups breaks in the second stage(R_(o)=0.75%-1.20%).In the third stage(R_(o)=1.20%-2.50%),the ring structures underwent ring-opening reactions to synthesize iso-short-chain olefins and radicals,while further breakdown of aliphatic chains occurred.By coupling pyrolysis simu-lation experiments and molecular simulation technology,the evolution characteristics and bond breaking mechanism of retained oil in three stages were revealed,providing a reference for the for-mation and evolution mechanism of retained oil. 展开更多

The Dongpu Depression is a secondary salt-bearing tectonic unit in the Bohai Bay Basin,eastern China.The depositional environment of this depression regarding its Paleogene strata is clearly different in plane,including the saltwater environment(SE)in the north,the freshwater environment(FE)in the south and the brackish water environment(BE)in the middle.The result of oil and gas exploration in the Dongpu Depression shows that more than 90%of the proven oil reserves are distributed in the northern saltwater environment.Previous studies indicate that the organic geochemistry characteristics and the hydrocarbon generation capacity of the source rocks are very clearly diverse under different environments,which results in the significant differences in the proved reserves between the north and the south.In order to further explore the differences in the hydrocarbon generation capacity of the source rocks under distinct depositional environments and the mechanism of their occurrence,three samples from different depositional environments(W18-5 for SE,H7-18 for BE,CH9 for FE)were used for confined gold tube pyrolysis experiments.The results show that the CH4 yields of W18-5,H7-18 and CH9 increase with increasing temperature,the maximum yields being 405.62 mg/g TOC,388.56 mg/g TOC and 367.89 mg/g TOC,respectively.The liquid hydrocarbon yields of W18-5,H7-18 and CH9 firstly increase with increasing temperature and then decrease after the critical temperatures.The maximum yields of C6-14 are 149.54 mg/g TOC,140.18 mg/g TOC and 116.94 mg/g TOC,the maximum yields of C14+being 852.4 mg/g TOC,652.6 mg/g TOC and 596.41 mg/g TOC,respectively for W18-5,H7-18 and CH9.To summarize,the order of hydrocarbon potential from high to low is W18-5,H7-18 and CH9.On this basis,through analyzing the influencing factors of hydrocarbon differences,this paper reveals that the saltwater environment is characterized by 4 factors:higher salinity,halophilic algae,high paleo-productivity and a strongly reducing environment,which are beneficial to the enrichment of organic matter and lead to the formation of high levels of sapropelite and exinite.According to the variation of oil and gas components in the pyrolysis experiments,the hydrocarbon generation process is divided into three stages:kerogen cracking,oil cracking and C2-5 cracking.Combined with hydrocarbon generation characteristics and stages,the evolutionary model of hydrocarbon generation for source rocks under different environments is established. 展开更多

Due to the limited number of exploration wells in Paleogene mudstones,as well as the complex and diverse types of delta,lacustrine,and marine source rocks in locations in the marineecontinental transitional zone,there have been few studies of the gas generation mechanism of source rocks in Baiyun Sag.This has resulted in a long-term dispute about the types and stratigraphic sequences of the main gas source rocks.In this study,gas generation simulation experiments were performed using a high-temperature and high-pressure gold tube closed system on various types of source rocks(i.e.,semi-deep lacustrine,shallow lacustrine,delta,and marine transgression/marine facies)from three sets of strata from the Wenchang,Enping,and Zhuhai Formations drilled in Baiyun Sag.Then,the hydrocarbon-generation processes and production characteristics of different types of source rocks at different stratigraphic sequences were rebuilt,and the composition and carbon isotope characteristics of the natural gas generated from these source rocks at different evolution stages were identified.Based on established natural gas generation kinetic modeling of virtual well points in different structural parts of Baiyun Sag,and constrained by the present gas reservoir characteristics and accumulation periods,it was demonstrated that the third and fourth members of the Wenchang Formation in the slopeedepression area of the main subsag would have been the main gas source kitchens in Baiyun Sag.However,due to the overall high degree of thermal evolution in the depression area,the generation of natural gas with maturity comparable to the present gas reservoirs was too earlydthat is,before 20 Madto be effectively captured. 展开更多

In order to recognize the impact of aqueous medium on gas yields and the kinetic behaviors of hydrogen isotope fractionation during organic matter thermal degradation, the gold tube apparatus was used to conduct thermal simulation experiments by mixing the nC18 with the water of different properties and proportions. The yields of natural gas components, the relation among hydrogen isotope composition of each component and the experimental temperatures vs. heating rates have been obtained, and the results indicate that under the higher temperature conditions, the hydrous experiment has obvious impact on gas yields, such as when more water is added, higher amounts of hydrocarbon gas and H2 are yielded, and the existence of water obviously prolongs the temperature interval with the existence of heavy hydrocarbon gas. It also shows that the hydrogen isotope of hydrocarbon gas generated by the hydrous experiment is obviously lighter than that generated by the anhydrous experiment, and with the increasing amount of added water, the δD value of hydrocarbon gas gradually decreases. Compared with gas yields, the variation of δD value is more sensitive to aqueous medium in the thermal simulation experiment. However, compared with the amount of the added water, the aqueous medium property has smaller impact on the gas yields, which still shows the inherit effect on hydrogen isotope composition of aqueous medium. Through the model simulation and the isotope fractionation behavior analysis, it is validated that the hydrogen isotope fractionation process can be well described by the chemical kinetic model. The difference of reaction fraction of normal methane and D-containing methane is large, corresponding to the same activation energy. The content of normal methane is obviously higher in the part with lower activation energy, while the content of D-containing methane is higher in the part with higher activation energy. Therefore, it will result in larger hydrogen isotope fractionation amplitude, and the δD values will be more sensitive to the variation of maturity. Meanwhile, the average activation energy of methane generation from nC18 in the hydrous experiment is higher than that in the anhydrous experiment, and the greater amount of added water, the larger the average activation energy of methane generation reaction. This has laid foundation for its exploratory application in the study of gas reservoir forming history and the gassource correlation, which indicates the research and application prospects in this orientation. 展开更多

The purpose of this study is to investigate the entire evolution process of shales with various total organic contents(TOC)in order to build models for quantitative evaluation of oil and gas yields and establish methods for assessing recoverable oil and gas resources from in-situ conversion of organic matters in shale.Thermal simulation experiments under in-situ conversion conditions were conducted on Chang 7_(3) shales from the Ordos Basin in a semi-open system with large capacity.The results showed that TOC and R_(o) were the key factors affecting the in-situ transformation potential of shale.The remaining oil and gas yields increased linearly with TOC but inconsistently with R_(o).R_(o) ranged 0.75%—1.25%and 1.05%—2.3%,respectively,corresponding to the main oil generation stage and gas generation stage of shale in-situ transformation.Thus a model to evaluate the remaining oil/gas yield with TOC and R_(o) was obtained.The TOC of shale suitable for in-situ conversion should be greater than 6%,whereas its R_(o) should be less than 1.0%.Shales with 0.75%(R_(o))could obtain the best economic benefit.The results provided a theoretical basis and evaluation methodology for predicting the hydrocarbon resources from in-situ conversion of shale and for the identification of the optimum“sweet spots”.The assessment of the Chang 7_(3) shale in the Ordos Basin indicated that the recoverable oil and gas resources from in-situ conversion of organic matters in shale are substantial,with oil and gas resources reaching approximately 450×10^(8) t and 30×10^(12)m^(3),respectively,from an area of 4.27×10^(4) km^(2). 展开更多

In order to contrast the hydrocarbon generation kinetic characteristics from different types of organic matter(OM),18 samples from different basins were pyrolyzed using Rock-Eval-Ⅱapparatus under the open system.From the experimental results,the curve of hydrocarbon generation rate vs.temperature can be easily obtained,which usually can be used to optimize kinetic parameters (A,E,F)of the hydrocarbon generation model.In this paper,the parallel first-order reaction with a single frequency factor model is selected to describe the hydrocarbon generation kinetic characteristics. The hydrocarbon generation kinetic parameters reveal that the types of compound structures and chemical bonds of the lacustrine fades typeⅠOM are relatively homogeneous,with one dominating activation energy.The types of chemical bonds of the lacustrine facies typeⅡ2 OM and the terrestrial facies typeⅢOM are relative complex,with a broad activation energy distribution,and the reaction fraction of the preponderant activation energy drops with the decrease of hydrogen index.The impact of the activation energy distribution spaces on the geological extrapolation of kinetic parameters is also investigated.The results show that it has little effect on the hydrocarbon transformation ratio(TR)and therefore,the parallel first-order reaction model with proper number of activation energies can be better used to describe the hydrocarbon generation process.The geological extrapolation results of 18 samples of kinetic parameters show that the distribution range of the hydrocarbon generation rate of the typeⅠOM is relatively narrow and the hydrocarbon generation curve is smooth.In comparison,the distribution range of the hydrocarbon generation for typeⅢand typeⅡ2-ⅢOM are quite wide,and the hydrocarbon generation curves have fluctuation phenomena.The distribution range of the hydrocarbon generation rate and the fluctuation phenomena are related to the kinetic parameters of OM;the narrower the activation energy distribution,the narrower the hydrocarbon generation rate distribution,and the smoother the hydrocarbon generation curve,and vice versa. 展开更多

Free decay is conducted to obtain attenuation characteristics of the VAFTCEPGD, and characteristics of mooring forces and motion response, floating condition, especially the lateral displacement of the VAFTCEPGD are obtained from the towing in still water. Tension response of the #1 mooring line and vibration characteristics of the VAFTCEPGD in regular waves as well as in level 4 irregular wave sea state with the current velocity of 0.6 m/s. Based on experimental data from hydrocarbon generation with a semi-open system, hydrocarbon generation kinetics modeling in gold tube of closed system, high temperature pyrolysis chromatography mass spectrometry experiment with open system and geological data, the characteristics of whole hydrocarbon-generating process, hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency and retained hydrocarbon quantity, origins of natural gas generated in high-over mature stage and cracking temperature of methane homologs were investigated in this study. The sapropelic source rock has a hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency of 30%-60% and 60%-80% in the major oil generation window(with Ro of 0.8%-1.3%) and high maturity stage(with Ro of 1.3%-2.0%) respectively; and the contribution ratio of kerogen degradation gas to oil cracking gas in total generated gas in high maturity stage is about 1:4. The degradation gas of kerogen accounts for 20%, the retained liquid hydrocarbon cracking gas accounts for 13.5%, and the amount of out-reservoir oil cracking gas(including aggregation type and dispersed oil cracking gas) accounts for 66.5%. The lower limit of gas cracking is determined preliminarily. Based on the new understandings, a model of the whole hydrocarbon-generating process of source rock is built. 展开更多

The Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics Terahertz Free Electron Laser Facility(CAEP THz FEL,CTFEL)is the only high-average power free electron laser terahertz source based on superconducting accelerators in China.The update of the CTFEL is now undergoing and will expand the frequency range from 0.1–4.2 THz to 0.1–125 THz.Two experimental stations for material spectroscopy and biomedicine will be built.A high harmonic generation(HHG)lightsource based beamline at the material spectroscopy experimental station for time-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES)research will be constructed and the optical design is presented.The HHG lightsource covers the extreme ultraviolet(XUV)photon energy range of 20–50 eV.A Czerny–Turner monochromator with two plane gratings worked in conical diffraction configuration is employed to maintain the transmission efficiency and preserve the pulse time duration.The calculated beamline transmission efficiency is better than 5%in the whole photon energy range.To our knowledge,this is the first time in China to combine THz-infrared FEL with HHG light source,and this experimental station will be a powerful and effective instrument that will give new research opportunities in the future for users doing research on the dynamic evolution of the excited electron band structure of a material’s surface. 展开更多

Measurement items for affective brand experience dimension and brand equity were developed by integrating existing literature and qualitative in-depth interviews with students who own and use a smartphone. Therefore, 359 usable questionnaires were returned. Data were analyzed using PLS-SEM to test the influences of affective brand experience dimension on brand equity. The study found that affective brand experience dimension is an important factor influencing brand equity of smartphone users in Malaysia. The study provides evidence that the affective brand experience dimension positively influences brand equity. The distinctive contribution of this research is that it examines the influence of affective brand experience dimension on customer-based brand equity in the context of smartphone brands in the Malaysian emerging markets. Such work is essential in understanding the importance of experiential marketing in an emerging economy such as Malaysia for building a strong smartphone brand. 展开更多

The present paper studies the ceramic membrane technology for onboard oxygen generation. Comparisons are made to have knowledge of the effects of two kinds of ceramic membrane separation technologies on oxygen generation, namely electricity driven ceramic membrane separation oxygen generation technology (EDCMSOGT) and pressure driven ceramic membrane separation oxygen generation technology (PDCMSOGT). Experiments were conducted under different temperatures, pressures of feed air and produced oxygen flow rates. On the basis of these experiments, the flow rate of feed air, electric power provided, oxygen recovery rate and concentration of produced oxygen are compared under each working condition. This study is set against the backdrop of the experience economy,focusing on the offline clothing consumption scenarios of Generation Z(born between 1996 and 2010).It explores the impact mechanism of multi-dimensional consumption experiences in physical stores on the arousal of positive emotions.Through a questionnaire survey,270 valid samples were collected,and structural equation modeling was employed for analysis.The findings reveal that sensory experience(visual and tactile stimuli),Feeling experience(staff service and theme activities),interactive experience(fitting room interaction),and Related experience(sense of community belonging to the brand)significantly stimulate consumers'positive emotions.However,olfactory and auditory experiences(music,fragrance)and Thinking Experiences(reflection on slogans)did not reach a significant level of impact.The study uncovers the"pleasure-arousal-control"Feeling synergy effect in offline consumption,filling the gap in traditional impulse buying theories,which have not adequately addressed multi-sensory integrated experiences and the Feeling uniqueness of Generation Z.In practice,it is recommended that clothing physical retail businesses enhance Feeling value delivery through immersive visual displays,AR fitting technology,community-oriented operations,and personalized service design to meet Generation Z's deep-seated needs for instant gratification,social identity,and self-expression. 展开更多

As the commercialization of the fifth gen-eration communication(5G)is sped up,its system testing scheme is vital for the successful deployment of 5G.Especially,5G relies on the scale-increased multiple-input-multiple output(MIMO)technique to improve its capacity and coverage.Thus,testing new functions of the 5G MIMO system accurately and ef-ficiently,including beamforming(beam-tracking with movement)and multiple-user(MU)multiplexing,is a challenging task.This paper tries to construct a lab-oratorial hardware and conduct equipment-controlled field testing.Firstly,the testing scheme is presented,which is composed of the framework,the channel models and the validation methods.Then,the channel model principles are explained in detail due to its di-rect influence on the testing accuracy.Specifically,we utilize the spatial consistency and the multi-link cor-relation properties to emulate the high-speed dynamic time-varying(HDT)and the multiple-cell(MC)-MU-MIMO channels.Finally,the above testing scheme is verified in a Shanghai 5G field experiment with the practical commercial equipment and the channel em-ulator.The results show that the 5G new functions are tested accurately and efficiently by switching the channel emulation configurations. 展开更多

Kinetic parameters were characterized for the formation of the C1—C5 hydrocarbons generating from Taiyuan and Shanxi coal in the Upper Paleozoic of the Ordos Basin, through pres-surized simulation experiment designed for the kinetic study of hydrocarbon generation. Based on the palaeogeothermal evolution of the Upper Paleozoic strata in the Ordos Basin, the formation and evolution of gas from Taiyuan and Shanxi coal in the eastern and central regions of the Ordos Basin were reproduced, and it is suggested that large scale secondary hydrocarbon generation does not exist during the uplifting and cooling process of the basin at the end of Early Cretaceous. Some of the factors affecting the behavior of the coal-generated gas were also discussed, and it is emphasized that the most fundamental element determining the hydrocarbon generation behavior is the characteristic of the precursor hydrocarbon-source rock. 展开更多

Background With an increasing number of vehicles becoming autonomous,intelligent,and connected,paying attention to the future usage of car human-machine interface with these vehicles should become more relevant.Several studies have addressed car HMI but were less attentive to designing and implementing interactive glazing for every day(autonomous)driving contexts.Methods Reflecting on the literature,we describe an engineering psychology practice and the design of six novel future user scenarios,which envision the application of a specific set of augmented reality(AR)support user interactions.Additionally,we conduct evaluations on specific scenarios and experiential prototypes,which reveal that these AR scenarios aid the target user groups in experiencing a new type of interaction.The overall evaluation is positive with valuable assessment results and suggestions.Conclusions This study can interest applied psychology educators who aspire to teach how AR can be operationalized in a human-centered design process to students with minimal pre-existing expertise or minimal scientific knowledge in engineering psychology. 展开更多

To describe the coupled heat and mass transfer of laminar falling film in vertical generation tube, a mathematicalmodel is developed, in which the effect of mass transfer on heat transfer is carefully evaluated. Moreover,an equation related Re number with solution volume flow was also obtained in given conditions. We carried outthe experiments with the mass fraction of the inlet solution LiBr being 49.5% and obtained an empirical correlationof heat transfer with the film Re number and heat flux in different volume flow. Specifically, when 5kW/m2<qw<25kW/m2 and Re<500 the heat transfer correlation is given as: h=14009.87qw0.0764Re-0.5391. 展开更多
