Objective:Nurse-led virtual outpatient clinics are now a familiar component of healthcare delivery across many disciplines, including cancer care,or thopedics, rheumatology, and gastroenterology. However, establishing a nurse-led vir tual clinic is challenging for nursing management, par ticularly regarding resources. We aimed to investigate nursing practices and processes and patient experiences in relation to vir tual outpatient clinics. Methods:This was a cross-sectional,descriptive study using mixed data collection methods.Patients(n=324)from 4 specialist clinics completed the Virtual Clinics Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire(VCSQ)survey.Five Nurse Specialists participated in a focus group interview. Results:Most participants(86.3%)reported being satisfied/very satisfied with the virtual clinics, particularly those that were nurse-led.Nurse specialists identified electronic health records(EHRs)and additional IT and administrative support as important for efficiency and effectiveness of the clinics.Conclusions:Nurse-led virtual clinics can be an effective and efficient way to provide care to patients.Nurse managers need to ensure supportive structures are in place, for example, dedicated administrators,IT support and infrastructure,education/training,and relevant policies/procedures.The success of nurse-led virtual services requires key infrastructure to support nursing staff and sustain this service. 展开更多

The increasing influx of people to mountain base environments has opened up the area to a myriad of problems that threaten the liveability of the residents and the sustainability of the environment.Yet,sufficient empirical investigations have not looked at the particular issues that threaten their liveability experience.Using the case of Idi-OriShasha mountain, this study examined the condition of informal urbanization at the mountain-base and equally investigated residents’living experiences. We conducted questionnaire survey with closed and open-ended questions to collect data from 65 out of 533 houses within a buffer of 250 m from the mountain and retrieved 50 completed householdhead survey. The results revealed that majority of the residents were not satisfied living at the mountainbase because of the inadequate facilities that have contributed to their current living conditions.Also,mountain-base residents are liable to many liveability threats such as noise pollution,sleeplessness,building/wall cracks, destructive erosion, and water inaccessibility. The study recommends adequate infrastructural provision intervention in the area in order to upscale liveability dimensions and general residents’living conditions.Conversely, similar studies could be conducted elsewhere for validation and comparison of findings. 展开更多

A child should be cared for by biological parents or extended family members when possible. In the absence of these two possibilities, other options are in place such as Residential Child Care Facilities (RCCFs). However, RCCFs are generally regarded as last resorts, as it is noted that they have a negative impact on the well-being of the children. Caregivers in RCCFs should ensure that these children are being adequately cared for as they substitute their biological or extended families. It is also a child’s rights to be provided love, care and support coupled with a sense of belonging, recognition and independence. However, children without or inadequate parental care are likely to be vulnerable from all forms of violence. The aim of this qualitative, exploratory, descriptive, contextual and phenomenological study was to explore and describe the children’s experiences regarding the care received at the Residential Child Care Facilities and to provide recommendations regarding research findings. Data were collected through one on one in-depth interviews and Tech method was used to analyze data. The results of the study show that children in RCCFs have experienced both positive and negative care. The care is experienced through relationships with staff in the facilities, provision of their basic needs, knowledge of their cultural identity and their adult future preparation once they leave the facilities. Thus, it is recommended that a conducive environment that contributes to the quality of care for children in RCCFs be established, taking into consideration human resources capacity, policy guidelines and standards in place while providing care to those children. 展开更多

This research is to share qualitative data of one preservice teacher, and one early childhood entrepreneur, who educated young children in an exclusive outdoor preschool. The study was conducted in a rural community where most preschools were held in the traditional venue-inside.The Coronavirus-19 pandemic presented many obstacles to the placement of preservice teachers in an appropriate early childhood setting. The university discouraged all direct contact with children.Instead, preservice teachers were expected to view videos of veteran teachers, who in former years, submitted teaching videos to obtain a“National Boards Certification.”The objective was that the preservice teachers would“reflect”and learn from the electronic source. This electronic substitution was unacceptable to the researcher.Practicum experiences allow for rich collaboration between preservice teacher and child.Electronic sources can never replicate the rich learning that happens during an authentic face-to face encounter with a child. Thus, the vision for the study was born.As an alternative to exclusive electronic learning, the preservice university supervisor initiated the opportunity for preservice teachers to participate with a local entrepreneur who was in the process of designing and implementing an exclusive outdoor school.Nature and environmental field experience opportunities for preservice teachers are promising alternatives to the traditional preschool setting.Venues that encourage nature and environmental studies enhance early childhood programs and create opportunities for preservice teachers, and the children they serve,to appreciate the nature around them enhancing their natural curiosity and investigative skills to seek, study, and share. This research article shares the reflections of both the preschool entrepreneur as well as the preservice teacher. It is a pragmatic description of how the exclusive outdoor environment is feasible and presents the challenges and assets that the environmental venue provides. 展开更多

In recent years,train-tail swaying of 160 km/h electric multiple units(EMUs)inside single-line tunnels has been heavily researched, because the issue needs to be solved urgently. In this paper,a co-simulation model of vortex-induced vibration(VIV)of the tail car body is established, and the aerodynamics of train-tail swaying is studied. The simulation results were confirmed through a field test of operating EMUs.Furthermore, the influence mechanism of train-tail swaying on the wake flow field is studied in detail through a wind-tunnel experiment and a simulation of a reduced-scaled train model. The results demonstrate that the aerodynamic force frequency(i.e.,vortex-induced frequency)of the train tail increases linearly with train speed. When the train runs at 130 km/h,with a small amplitude of train-tail swaying(within 10 mm),the vortex-induced frequency is 1.7 Hz,which primarily depends on the nose shape of the train tail. After the tail car body nose is extended, the vortex-induced frequency is decreased. As the swaying amplitude of the train tail increases(exceeding 25 mm),the separation point of the high-intensity vortex in the train wake shifts downstream to the nose tip,and the vortex-induced frequency shifts from 1.7 Hz to the nearby car body hunting(i.e.,the primary hunting)frequency of 1.3 Hz,which leads to the frequency-locking phenomenon of VIV,and the resonance intensifies train-tail swaying. For the motor vehicle of the train tail, optimization of the yaw damper to improve its primary hunting stability can effectively alleviate train-tail swaying inside single-line tunnels.Optimization of the tail car body nose shape reduces the amplitude of the vortex-induced force, thereby weakening the aerodynamic effect and solving the problem of train-tail swaying inside the single-line tunnels. 展开更多
