Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in 306 infants stratified according to age from one to six months, full-term births, weighing ≥2500 g, without intercurrences at birth, serum ferritin levels ≥10 ng/mL, followed by the public health service encouraging and supporting exclusive breastfeeding. An automated counter was used for measuring hemoglobin, and serum ferritin was determined using immunoenzymatic method. Student’s t-test was used to analyze differences between means, and Mann-Whitney test when distribution was non-normal. Level of statistical significance was p 0.05. Results: The hemoglobin values, according to gender, did not differ statistically in the different months;the results are presented without sample division according to gender. Hemoglobin means and standard deviations in g/dL were: 11.7(±1.6), 10.7(±1.5), 10.8(±1.3), 11.6(±1.5), 11.7(±1.7), and 11.8(±1.6), from the first to sixth month respectively. Conclusion: The hemoglobin values obtained in all the first six months of life, based on a healthy, exclusively breastfed infant population, may contribute to the reassessment of reference levels for the diagnosis of anemia in the studied age range.展开更多
Programmed cell death(PCD)is an essential process for development,and shows conserved cytological features in both plants and animals.Caspases are well-known critical components of the PCD machinery in animals.However...Programmed cell death(PCD)is an essential process for development,and shows conserved cytological features in both plants and animals.Caspases are well-known critical components of the PCD machinery in animals.However,currently few typical counterparts have been identified in plants and only several caspase-like proteases are known to be involved in plant PCD,indicating the existence of great challenge for confirming new caspase-like proteases and elucidating the mechanisms regulating plant PCD.Here,we report a novel cysteine protease,NtTPE8,which was extracted from tobacco seeds and confirmed as a new caspase-like protease.Recombinant NtTPE8 exhibited legumain and caspase-like proteolytic activities,both of which could be inhibited by the pan-caspase inhibitor(Z-VAD-FMK).Notably,NtTPE8 possessed several caspase activities and the capacity to cleave the cathepsin H substrate FVR,indicating a unique character of NtTPE8.NtTPE8 was exclusively expressed in the integumentary tapetum and thus,is the first specific molecular marker reported to date for this cell type.Downregulation of NtTPE8 caused seed abortion,via disturbing early embryogenesis,indicating its critical role in embryogenesis and seed development.In conclusion,we identified a novel caspase-like cysteine protease,NtTPE8,exclusively expressed in the integumentary tapetum that is involved in seed development.展开更多
Background:Bullying during adolescence is shaped by numerous psychosocial factors such as family dynamics,attachment,and peer relationships.This study aims to examine parental acceptance-rejection,attachment styles,an...Background:Bullying during adolescence is shaped by numerous psychosocial factors such as family dynamics,attachment,and peer relationships.This study aims to examine parental acceptance-rejection,attachment styles,and social exclusion factors as key psychosocial variables predicting bullying behavior in adolescents.Methods:In a cross-sectional study conducted with 349 high school students in Hakkari,Türkiye.Data were collected using the Olweus Bullying Scale,the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Scale,the Social Exclusion Scale,and the Three-Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale.Independent samples t-tests,one-way ANOVAs,Pearson correlations,and hierarchical regression analyses were performed.Results:Research findings reveal that peer bullying varies significantly according to gender,class level,parents’educational level,and socio-economic status.Furthermore,our findings indicate that social exclusion(β=0.506,p<0.01)and avoidant attachment(β=0.162,p<0.01)positively predict peer bullying,while secure attachment(β=−0.205,p<0.01),maternal(β=−0.385,p<0.01)and paternal(β=−0.217,p<0.01)acceptance/rejection negatively predict bullying.The final regression model explains approximately 55%of the variance in bullying.Conclusion:Our findings indicate that social exclusion,parental acceptance/rejection,and secure or avoidant attachment patterns may be associated with bullying behaviour in adolescents.These findings emphasise the necessity of family-and peer-focused interventions to combat bullying.展开更多
The alpine grassland vegetation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is composed of plant patches in varied sizes.It remains uncertain whether vegetation recovery following grazing exclusion(GE)in degraded grasslands is drive...The alpine grassland vegetation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is composed of plant patches in varied sizes.It remains uncertain whether vegetation recovery following grazing exclusion(GE)in degraded grasslands is driven by increases in patches number(NP),patch size(PS),or both.We based our predictions on two hypotheses:GE intensifies plant competition,and facilitation prevails near patches while competition prevails in interpatch spaces.We predicted that the NP would remain stable or decrease and PS would increase under GE treatment.To evaluate these predictions,we conducted a study in six lightly degraded alpine grasslands under free grazing(FG)conditions in Bangor County,Xizang Autonomous Region,China,with corresponding GE treatments using transects in 2017 and 2018.Results revealed that four sites in 2017 and five sites in 2018 had reduced NP and increased PS,with probabilities of 0.033(2017)and 0.004(2018),respectively,and a joint probability of 0.0001 under the null hypothesis that GE does not affect NP or PS.The NP reduction was solely due to the decrease in small patch sizes.An increase in PS was common across species,and a predominant tendency for NP reduction was observed among species across the sites.The overall changes in NP and PS were primarily driven by the three most abundant species(contributing more than 60%in both years),rather than by shifts in floristic composition.Our findings highlight that vegetation recovery in Bangor alpine steppes following GE relies solely on the expansion of existing patches rather than the recruitment of new ones in interpatch gaps.We recommend prioritizing growth-promoting measures,such as nutrient or water management,over seed addition when assisting with GE for restoring lightly degraded grasslands.展开更多
Background:Amid the global rise in adolescent sedentary behavior and psychological distress,extant research has largely focused on variable-level associations,neglecting symptom-level interactions.This study applies n...Background:Amid the global rise in adolescent sedentary behavior and psychological distress,extant research has largely focused on variable-level associations,neglecting symptom-level interactions.This study applies network analysis,aims to delineate the interconnections among sedentary time,social support,social exclusion,and psychological distress in Chinese students,and to identify core and bridge symptoms to inform targeted interventions.Methods:This study employed a cross-sectional design to investigate the complex relationships among sedentary behavior,social support,social exclusion,and psychological distress among Chinese students.The research involved 459 high school and university students,using network analysis and mediation models to examine these relationships.Results:Network analysis revealed that the network had a density of 58.33%and an average edge weight of 0.11.In terms of centrality,stress had the highest expected influence(EI=1.135),acting as the core amplifier in the network.Sedentary behavior demonstrated the highest bridging expected influence,functioning as a critical bridge for cross-community transmission.Conversely,friend support showed the lowest bridging EI with a negative value,indicating its effectiveness in blocking cross-community diffusion and alleviating symptoms.Conclusion:With stress acting as the most influential“core engine”within the symptom network and sedentary behavior serving as the key“bridge”for cross-community transmission,interventions should first target stress to weaken the overall symptom cascade,followed by reducing sedentary behavior or enhancing friend support to disrupt cross-community pathways,thereby achieving a core-bridge dual blockade.展开更多
Fencing for grazing exclusion is regarded as a traditional and effective method for the natural restoration of degraded alpine steppe,and it effectively promotes plant growth and enhances soil carbon stocks.Arbuscular...Fencing for grazing exclusion is regarded as a traditional and effective method for the natural restoration of degraded alpine steppe,and it effectively promotes plant growth and enhances soil carbon stocks.Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)are essential microorganisms in grassland that play a major role in plant-derived C translocation into the soil.However,the effects of fencing on AMF communities and their contributions to soil carbon sequestration are still unclear.In this study,alpine steppe areas with three different fencing durations(free grazing,medium-term fencing for 5-6 years and long-term fencing for more than 10 years)in the northern Tibetan Plateau were selected to explore the effects of grazing exclusion on AMF communities and their roles in soil carbon sequestration.The results showed that medium-and long-term fencing significantly increased both plant aboveground biomass and soil organic carbon(SOC)content.The AMF community composition varied significantly during different fencing durations,with a dramatic increase in the relative abundance of Glomus but a significant reduction in the relative abundance of Diversispora with longer fencing time.Medium-term fencing significantly increased AMF richness and the ShannonWiener index.Meanwhile,fencing significantly increased hyphal length density(HLD),glomalin-related soil protein(GRSP)and the proportion of macroaggregates(250-2,000μm),all of which contribute positively to SOC.Structural equation modeling revealed that fencing time positively influenced HLD and the AMF community composition,subsequently affecting T-GRSP,which was tightly correlated with SOC.Our findings suggest the potentially important contribution of AMF to SOC sequestration,so more attention should be paid to AMF during alpine steppe fencing,particularly for enhancing the efficiency of degraded grassland restoration efforts.展开更多
FCS-like zinc finger(FLZ)gene family members are C2-C2 zinc finger proteins that take part in seed dormancy,resistance to Myzus persicae 1,sucrose signaling and abiotic stresse tolerance.However,their functions,especi...FCS-like zinc finger(FLZ)gene family members are C2-C2 zinc finger proteins that take part in seed dormancy,resistance to Myzus persicae 1,sucrose signaling and abiotic stresse tolerance.However,their functions,especially the molecular mechanism through which FLZs function,are not well understood.In this study,we characterized 120FLZs in wheat and revealed the function and mechanism of TaFLZ54D increasing salt stress tolerance in transgenic wheat.Expression analysis demonstrated that TaFLZ54D can be induced by NaCl treatment and it had the highest expression level under NaCl treatment among the 120 FLZs.Over-expression of TaFLZ54D increased wheat salt stress tolerance and the transgenic plants had higher levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and peroxidase(POD)activities and soluble sugar content,but a lower Na^(+)/K^(+)ratio and malondialdehyde(MDA)content than the wild type(WT)plants.Potassium ion transmembrane transporters and serine/threonine kinase inhibitor proteins showed differential expression between Ta FLZ54D transgenic wheat and the WT.Yeast two hybrid and luciferase complementation assays revealed that TaSGT1 and TaPP2C are the proteins that interact directly with TaFLZ54D.In summary,TaFLZ54D enhances salt stress tolerance through interaction with TaSGT1 and TaPP2C to reduce Na^(+)absorption and mitigate oxidative stress.The interaction between TaFLZ54D and TaSGT1,as well as TaPP2C indicated a link between salt stress tolerance of TaFLZ54D and the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of negative regulatory proteins.展开更多

The mechanism of plant response to water availability is a crucial research area in ecosystem adaptation to dry environments.Global change in precipitation patterns exacerbates drought risks in many regions,necessitat...The mechanism of plant response to water availability is a crucial research area in ecosystem adaptation to dry environments.Global change in precipitation patterns exacerbates drought risks in many regions,necessitating investigations of tree responses to drought.However,compared with seasonal drought events,how water use characteristics respond to long-term rainfall reduction remains poorly characterized.Here,we assessed the effects of multi-year rainfall exclusion treatments(in the 4th and 5th years)on sap flow,canopy conductance(G_(C)),and the response pattern to varying transpiration driving force(vapor pressure deficit(VPD))and soil moisture conditions in a black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia)plantation in the China's Loess Plateau.The experimental platform includes paired plots of a 30%throughfall exclusion treatment and a control within the plantation.The reduction of soil water content(SWC),either as temporal variations or as a result of rainfall exclusion treatment,generally lowered sap flow,G_(C),and the sensitivity to VPD.The difference in each index between plots was substantially greater than that among temporal variations in SWC within a plot.The trees in the control plot showed strong responses of G_(C)to temporal SWC changes,exhibiting an isohydric behavior.However,those subjected to long-term rainfall exclusion treatment had lower variations in G_(C)and the sensitivity across different SWC,exhibiting an anisohydric behavior under limited water conditions.Additionally,rainfall exclusion treatment decreased basal area(BA)increment but increased water use efficiency(WUE).The transition to anisohydric behavior suggests an adventurous pattern of water use strategy that has risks of hydraulic damage and shoot mortality.These findings provide insights into the different adaptation strategies within a species to diverse intensity and duration of drought conditions,which is crucial for sustainable forest management under climate change conditions.展开更多

文摘Background:Bullying during adolescence is shaped by numerous psychosocial factors such as family dynamics,attachment,and peer relationships.This study aims to examine parental acceptance-rejection,attachment styles,and social exclusion factors as key psychosocial variables predicting bullying behavior in adolescents.Methods:In a cross-sectional study conducted with 349 high school students in Hakkari,Türkiye.Data were collected using the Olweus Bullying Scale,the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Scale,the Social Exclusion Scale,and the Three-Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale.Independent samples t-tests,one-way ANOVAs,Pearson correlations,and hierarchical regression analyses were performed.Results:Research findings reveal that peer bullying varies significantly according to gender,class level,parents’educational level,and socio-economic status.Furthermore,our findings indicate that social exclusion(β=0.506,p<0.01)and avoidant attachment(β=0.162,p<0.01)positively predict peer bullying,while secure attachment(β=−0.205,p<0.01),maternal(β=−0.385,p<0.01)and paternal(β=−0.217,p<0.01)acceptance/rejection negatively predict bullying.The final regression model explains approximately 55%of the variance in bullying.Conclusion:Our findings indicate that social exclusion,parental acceptance/rejection,and secure or avoidant attachment patterns may be associated with bullying behaviour in adolescents.These findings emphasise the necessity of family-and peer-focused interventions to combat bullying.

文摘The alpine grassland vegetation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is composed of plant patches in varied sizes.It remains uncertain whether vegetation recovery following grazing exclusion(GE)in degraded grasslands is driven by increases in patches number(NP),patch size(PS),or both.We based our predictions on two hypotheses:GE intensifies plant competition,and facilitation prevails near patches while competition prevails in interpatch spaces.We predicted that the NP would remain stable or decrease and PS would increase under GE treatment.To evaluate these predictions,we conducted a study in six lightly degraded alpine grasslands under free grazing(FG)conditions in Bangor County,Xizang Autonomous Region,China,with corresponding GE treatments using transects in 2017 and 2018.Results revealed that four sites in 2017 and five sites in 2018 had reduced NP and increased PS,with probabilities of 0.033(2017)and 0.004(2018),respectively,and a joint probability of 0.0001 under the null hypothesis that GE does not affect NP or PS.The NP reduction was solely due to the decrease in small patch sizes.An increase in PS was common across species,and a predominant tendency for NP reduction was observed among species across the sites.The overall changes in NP and PS were primarily driven by the three most abundant species(contributing more than 60%in both years),rather than by shifts in floristic composition.Our findings highlight that vegetation recovery in Bangor alpine steppes following GE relies solely on the expansion of existing patches rather than the recruitment of new ones in interpatch gaps.We recommend prioritizing growth-promoting measures,such as nutrient or water management,over seed addition when assisting with GE for restoring lightly degraded grasslands.
文摘Background:Amid the global rise in adolescent sedentary behavior and psychological distress,extant research has largely focused on variable-level associations,neglecting symptom-level interactions.This study applies network analysis,aims to delineate the interconnections among sedentary time,social support,social exclusion,and psychological distress in Chinese students,and to identify core and bridge symptoms to inform targeted interventions.Methods:This study employed a cross-sectional design to investigate the complex relationships among sedentary behavior,social support,social exclusion,and psychological distress among Chinese students.The research involved 459 high school and university students,using network analysis and mediation models to examine these relationships.Results:Network analysis revealed that the network had a density of 58.33%and an average edge weight of 0.11.In terms of centrality,stress had the highest expected influence(EI=1.135),acting as the core amplifier in the network.Sedentary behavior demonstrated the highest bridging expected influence,functioning as a critical bridge for cross-community transmission.Conversely,friend support showed the lowest bridging EI with a negative value,indicating its effectiveness in blocking cross-community diffusion and alleviating symptoms.Conclusion:With stress acting as the most influential“core engine”within the symptom network and sedentary behavior serving as the key“bridge”for cross-community transmission,interventions should first target stress to weaken the overall symptom cascade,followed by reducing sedentary behavior or enhancing friend support to disrupt cross-community pathways,thereby achieving a core-bridge dual blockade.

文摘Fencing for grazing exclusion is regarded as a traditional and effective method for the natural restoration of degraded alpine steppe,and it effectively promotes plant growth and enhances soil carbon stocks.Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)are essential microorganisms in grassland that play a major role in plant-derived C translocation into the soil.However,the effects of fencing on AMF communities and their contributions to soil carbon sequestration are still unclear.In this study,alpine steppe areas with three different fencing durations(free grazing,medium-term fencing for 5-6 years and long-term fencing for more than 10 years)in the northern Tibetan Plateau were selected to explore the effects of grazing exclusion on AMF communities and their roles in soil carbon sequestration.The results showed that medium-and long-term fencing significantly increased both plant aboveground biomass and soil organic carbon(SOC)content.The AMF community composition varied significantly during different fencing durations,with a dramatic increase in the relative abundance of Glomus but a significant reduction in the relative abundance of Diversispora with longer fencing time.Medium-term fencing significantly increased AMF richness and the ShannonWiener index.Meanwhile,fencing significantly increased hyphal length density(HLD),glomalin-related soil protein(GRSP)and the proportion of macroaggregates(250-2,000μm),all of which contribute positively to SOC.Structural equation modeling revealed that fencing time positively influenced HLD and the AMF community composition,subsequently affecting T-GRSP,which was tightly correlated with SOC.Our findings suggest the potentially important contribution of AMF to SOC sequestration,so more attention should be paid to AMF during alpine steppe fencing,particularly for enhancing the efficiency of degraded grassland restoration efforts.

文摘FCS-like zinc finger(FLZ)gene family members are C2-C2 zinc finger proteins that take part in seed dormancy,resistance to Myzus persicae 1,sucrose signaling and abiotic stresse tolerance.However,their functions,especially the molecular mechanism through which FLZs function,are not well understood.In this study,we characterized 120FLZs in wheat and revealed the function and mechanism of TaFLZ54D increasing salt stress tolerance in transgenic wheat.Expression analysis demonstrated that TaFLZ54D can be induced by NaCl treatment and it had the highest expression level under NaCl treatment among the 120 FLZs.Over-expression of TaFLZ54D increased wheat salt stress tolerance and the transgenic plants had higher levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and peroxidase(POD)activities and soluble sugar content,but a lower Na^(+)/K^(+)ratio and malondialdehyde(MDA)content than the wild type(WT)plants.Potassium ion transmembrane transporters and serine/threonine kinase inhibitor proteins showed differential expression between Ta FLZ54D transgenic wheat and the WT.Yeast two hybrid and luciferase complementation assays revealed that TaSGT1 and TaPP2C are the proteins that interact directly with TaFLZ54D.In summary,TaFLZ54D enhances salt stress tolerance through interaction with TaSGT1 and TaPP2C to reduce Na^(+)absorption and mitigate oxidative stress.The interaction between TaFLZ54D and TaSGT1,as well as TaPP2C indicated a link between salt stress tolerance of TaFLZ54D and the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of negative regulatory proteins.
文摘This editorial critically evaluated the recent study by AlMousa et al,which examined the impact of the Arabic version of the American Academy of Or-thopedic Surgeons Foot and Ankle Outcomes Questionnaire(AAOS-FAOQ)on postoperative quality of life and recovery in Arabic-speaking patients with traumatic foot and ankle injuries.In the context of systemic linguistic exclusion in orthopedic research—where English-language journals dominated most publi-cations and non-English-speaking populations faced dual barriers of trial under-representation and semantic distortions(e.g.,mistranslations of terms like"joint instability"in Arabic)—AlMousa et al's work highlighted the transformative po-tential of culturally adapted methodologies.Their rigorous four-stage adaptation framework validated the Arabic AAOS-FAOQ as a reliable tool,enhancing ecological validity and reducing bias in patient-reported outcomes.However,limitations such as regional specificity(Gulf-centric sampling)and short follow-up periods(4 months)underscored broader challenges in non-English research:Redundant studies,prolonged hospital stays for limited English proficiency patients,and underrepresentation of certain ethnic groups in trials.To dismantle linguistic hegemony,we proposed semantic reconstruction(e.g.,integrating culturally specific indicators like"prayer posture"),dialect-aware neural tran-slation,and World Health Organization led terminology standardization.In line with these proposed solutions,AlMousa et al’s study exemplified how language-sensitive adaptations could bridge equity gaps,while future efforts would need to balance cultural specificity with cross-study comparability through AI-driven multilingual databases and policy mandates for cultural adaptation roadmaps.
文摘Dear Editor,Infertility refers to the inability to conceive after one year of regular unprotected intercourse,and as per the available estimates,close to 50 million couples are being affected worldwide[1].In many communities,infertility is regarded as a sign of personal failure,where individuals are blamed for their inability to conceive[2].It is not an unusual practice that people with infertility are excluded from social rituals like baby showers or functions related to parenthood[2].Women are generally considered solely responsible for the condition,while in reality,it can equally affect men[2].On the other hand,men experiencing infertility are subjected to mockery for a reduced sense of masculinity[3].In many communities and cultures,infertility is viewed as a genuine reason for relationship strain and eventually divorce[2].Amid the fear that people will judge them,many couples hide their infertility struggles,and this further plays an important role in increasing stigma[2,3].Further,in some organizations,employers might not consider infertile persons for promotion under the assumption that they do not have many financial responsibilities[3].

文摘Surgery for ileocolic and colonic Crohn’s disease(CD)remains challenging.Over the past decade,there have been significant advances in surgical techniques,and the timing of surgery for CD patients has been debated.With advances in biological agents,the rate of surgery has significantly decreased,but early ileocolic resection has been advocated.Recently,there has been significant interest in the role of the mesentery in the pathogenesis of CD,with Kono-S mesenteric exclusion anastomosis and extended mesenteric excision advocated by various groups to minimise CD recurrence.There have also been controversies regarding the utility of ileal pouch anal anastomosis after total proctocolectomy.Compared with open surgery,most CD surgeries are now minimally invasive,with increasing evidence for improving short-term outcomes with conventional laparoscopic techniques.The evidence for robotic-assisted surgery in patients with CD is limited at present.

文摘In the context of future electron-ion collision experiments,particularly the Electron-Ion Collider(EIC)and the Electron-Ion Collider in China(EicC),investigating exclusive photoproduction processes is of paramount importance.These processes offer a distinctive opportunity to probe the gluon structure of nuclei across a broad range of Bjorken x,thereby enabling measurements of nuclear shadowing and facilitating the search for gluon saturation and color glass condensates.This study explores the potential of utilizing neutron tagging via the Coulomb excitation of nuclei to precisely determine the impact parameter for exclusive photoproduction in electron-ion collisions.By developing the equivalent photon approximation for fast electrons,this study incorporates a coordinate-space-dependent photon flux distribution to elucidate the relationship between the photon transverse momentum distribution and the collision impact parameter.Furthermore,the differential cross section for Coulomb excitation of nuclei is derived by leveraging the spatial information from the photon flux.Our calculations demonstrate that neutron tagging can significantly alter the impact parameter distributions,thereby providing a robust method for impact parameter manipulation in electron-ion collisions.This study provides valuable insights and strategies for exploring the impact parameter dependence of exclusive photoproduction,offering novel insights for experimental design and data analysis.Ultimately,it enhances our understanding of the gluon distribution within the nucleus.
文摘Objective To study the 6-month patent exclusivity rule in the US and provide reference for designing pediatric exclusivity policy in China.Methods In this paper,summarize the development history and status of pediatric exclusivity in the US was summarized to analyze its effect for pediatric drugs research and development incentive and information improvement.Then,we can learn from its experience to construct pediatric exclusivity policy in China.Results and Conclusion Pediatric exclusivity policy in the US has obvious incentive effects,but the scope is limited to patented or other data protected drugs.Based on the successful experience of the United States,we can fully evaluate the impact of patents and other data protection policies on the exclusive marketing rights.In addition,we should conduct in-depth study on the applicable objects,authorization scope,protection mode and time limit of the pediatric exclusivity so that we can introduce supporting measures for China’s pediatric exclusivity as soon as possible.

文摘The mechanism of plant response to water availability is a crucial research area in ecosystem adaptation to dry environments.Global change in precipitation patterns exacerbates drought risks in many regions,necessitating investigations of tree responses to drought.However,compared with seasonal drought events,how water use characteristics respond to long-term rainfall reduction remains poorly characterized.Here,we assessed the effects of multi-year rainfall exclusion treatments(in the 4th and 5th years)on sap flow,canopy conductance(G_(C)),and the response pattern to varying transpiration driving force(vapor pressure deficit(VPD))and soil moisture conditions in a black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia)plantation in the China's Loess Plateau.The experimental platform includes paired plots of a 30%throughfall exclusion treatment and a control within the plantation.The reduction of soil water content(SWC),either as temporal variations or as a result of rainfall exclusion treatment,generally lowered sap flow,G_(C),and the sensitivity to VPD.The difference in each index between plots was substantially greater than that among temporal variations in SWC within a plot.The trees in the control plot showed strong responses of G_(C)to temporal SWC changes,exhibiting an isohydric behavior.However,those subjected to long-term rainfall exclusion treatment had lower variations in G_(C)and the sensitivity across different SWC,exhibiting an anisohydric behavior under limited water conditions.Additionally,rainfall exclusion treatment decreased basal area(BA)increment but increased water use efficiency(WUE).The transition to anisohydric behavior suggests an adventurous pattern of water use strategy that has risks of hydraulic damage and shoot mortality.These findings provide insights into the different adaptation strategies within a species to diverse intensity and duration of drought conditions,which is crucial for sustainable forest management under climate change conditions.
