They imply large investments the costs of which companies and governments, in charge of elites are not always willing to endure. Changes in elites have a direct impact on public policy and environmental governance of societies. Are the new elites willing to change traditional patterns of energy consumption if the change could threaten investment and economic growth3 Based on empirical research this paper analyzes the role of elites in a developing Latin American country (the Chilean case) in decisions adopted about the explanations of climate change and specially on the set of measures for adaptation and/or mitigation, focusing on the energy sector of the economy, one of the key sectors directly implied with the possibilities of reducing greenhouse gases emissions.展开更多
Under the violent impact of the social transformation period,traditional cultural heritage faces a great crisis of protection,inheritance and development.In the context of collapse of basic structure of traditional ru...Under the violent impact of the social transformation period,traditional cultural heritage faces a great crisis of protection,inheritance and development.In the context of collapse of basic structure of traditional rural society,the protection of traditional cultural heritage becomes an important task in the new period.Although both the state and the society attach great importance to the protection of intangible cultural heritage,it still faces a huge crisis of disappearance.In the system,this is because cultural elite list system and intangible cultural heritage protection system are confronted with many practical problems.The cultural elite of the rural society,as main group of intangible culture inheritance,is always ignored and this has become a hidden trouble for cultural heritage protection.In this situation,it is recommended to constantly restore excellent cultural ecological environment,improve the supporting facilities of the intangible cultural protection system,cultivate cultural elites of rural areas at the level of endogenous driving force,improve the rural centripetal force centering on cultural elites,restore its functions in transmitting culture and guiding value in rural society,and rebuild the folk cultural elite regeneration mechanism,so as to real y push the intangible cultural heritage protection towards the sustainable development of inheritance.展开更多
This work,using a structurationist approach,phenomenological structuralism,argues that the Haitian Revolution and Jean-Jacques Dessalines represented the first embodiment of Alexandre Kojève’s“End of History”t...This work,using a structurationist approach,phenomenological structuralism,argues that the Haitian Revolution and Jean-Jacques Dessalines represented the first embodiment of Alexandre Kojève’s“End of History”thesis.Following the Haitian Revolution,which is a revolt against slavery and mercantilist capitalism,the founder of the country,Jean-Jacques Dessalines,attempted to synthesize three forms of system and social integration on the island in order to constitute the nation of Haiti:the mercantilist and liberal capitalism of the Affranchis,petit-bourgeois blacks and mulatto elites,respectively;and the Lakouism,communism,of the African majority on the island.In this sense,Dessalines represented the first embodiment of Kojève’s end of history Hegelian thesis.Using a structurationist,structural Marxist,understanding of practical consciousness constitution,the work explores the origins and basis for Dessalines’s social,political,and economic policies to that end.The death of Dessalines,I conclude,would undermine this revolutionary impetus of the Haitian Revolution,rendering it insignificant,and converted Haiti into the so-called poorest country in the Western Hemisphere under American neoliberal capitalist hegemony.展开更多
