How did the price and income elasticities of natural gas demand in China evolve from 1999 to 2015? The role of natural gas price reform 被引量:1

As a cleaner,high-efficiency,and low-carbon fuel,natural gas has been an important fuel resource for China.To achieve a substantial increase in natural gas demand,China has sought to reform its natural gas pricing mechanism.Employing a set of unbalanced panel data for China’s 30 provinces covering 1999-2015,this study aims to estimate the evolving price and income elasticities of natural gas demand and explore the effect of natural gas price reform in China.For this purpose,a series of econometric techniques allowing for cross-sectional dependence and slope homogeneity is utilized.The results suggest that although natural gas demand in China still lacks negative price elasticity,the phenomenon is improving.Moreover,the estimates suggest that natural gas demand in China is indeed becoming increasingly sensitive to income changes.Our estimates also provide strong evidence in favor of the effect of natural gas price reform on the change in price elasticity as the price elasticity decreases in five of the seven regions.In addition,the results indicate large variations in the change in price and income elasticities of natural gas demand across China’s regions.Natural gas demand is becoming more price inelastic in Southwest China and Northwest China,while such demand in North China and East China responds less sensitively to income changes.These findings offer several policy suggestions for the reform of China’s natural gas market at the national and regional levels. 展开更多

Elasticity of substitution is traditionally estimated while ignoring technical and allocative inefficiencies,which could bias the estimates.We estimate elasticity of substitution for Chinese energy-intensive sectors by incorporating these inefficiencies.The results show most of the sectors are low substitutes between input factors and stress important differences among energy-intensive sectors.Concerning the cross-price elasticity for energy,with respect to capital(labor),the sectors are mainly characterized by weak substitutability or complementary.These imply the production structure is quite rigid and capital cannot be so readily used as a substitute for energy. 展开更多

Urban metabolism is a complex system of materials, energy, population and environment, which usually can be measured by the Emergy Synthesis(ES) and the Slacks-Based Measure(SBM) approach. In this paper, by employing the two approaches of ES and SBM, as well as metabolic evolution index, urban metabolic stocks, efficiencies and elasticity of 31 Chinese cities are evaluated in a systematic way. The results imply that over the last decade(2000–2010), most of the cities, such as Chongqing, Nanjing, Shijiazhuang, Hangzhou, were experiencing drastic urban metabolic efficiency decline accompanied with a moderate decrease of industrial outputs. By contrast, metropolises and specialized cities have improved their urban metabolic performances, with higher output-input ratio and fewer undesirable outputs. However, their exported emergy experienced a substantial increase as well. It is concluded that local urban management might develop policies to diversify urban renewable supplies and address the undesirable output problems. The urban emergy of renewable resources should be specified as a prime focus for future research. In addition, mechanisms of different urban metabolic models will also be necessary for researchers. 展开更多

This paper presents a general framework that can be used to estimate direct and cross elasticities for freight transport using a network model. This methodology combines operational research (network assignments in a geographical information system) with more classical econometrics (multinomial logit choice models). The application of the method to a real-world case is illustrated by a simple model that relies on the generalized cost of transport as the only explanatory variable in the utility function. The methodological framework allows, however, for the implementation of more complex functions. Beside the generalized cost functions for road, rail and inland waterways transport, the network model needs origin-destination matrixes and digitized networks. They are imported from ETIS Plus, a European transport policy information system. A set of direct and cross elasticities is presented. The estimated values are obtained using two methods: the first computes standard elasticities, while the second estimates arc elasticities. Figures are presented for Europe and for a large region around the Benelux countries, where more competition exists between the three modes of interest. 展开更多

In order to address this question, we sintered forsterite-enstatite polycrystalline aggregates with a varied forsterite volume fraction (0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0). Elastic properties (shear, bulk, and Young’s moduli) of these synthesized composites were measured as a function of pressure up to 3.0 GPa in a liquid-medium piston-cylinder apparatus using a high-precision ultrasonic interferometric technique. The experimental data can be much better described by the shear-lag model than by the commonly used simple models such as Voigt, Ruess and Hill averages, Hashin-Shtrikman bounds, Ravichandran bounds, Halpin-Tsai equations, and Paul’s calculations. We attributed this to the fact that the elastic interaction and stress transfer between phases are neglected in all the models except for the shear-lag model. In particular, 展开更多

Oxygen carriers play a fundamental role in chemical looping combustion(CLC).Iron-based carriers have been extensively investigated owing to their abundance and environmentally friendly.However,the reactivity and separability of iron-based carriers require further enhancement.This study investigates the effect of the concentration of Mn doping on reactivity,elastic properties and magnetic properties based on density functional theory(DFT)calculations.Theoretical results demonstrate that Mn doping effectively enhances reactivity by reducing the oxygen vacancy formation energy(E_(vac))from 2.33 to 0.87 eV.However,Mn doping introduces HV/EV Ms lattice distortions that deteriorate elastic properties,thereby reducing wear resistance,as evidenced by a 54.54%decrease in the hardness-to-Young's modulus ratio(H_(v)/E_(v))forα-Fe_(2)O_(3)and an 83.33%reduction for Fe_(3)O_(4).Furthermore,Mn doping also modifies magnetic properties.The maximum of saturation magnetization(M_(s))of Fe_(3)O_(4)reaches 121.02 emu/g at 33.33%Mn doping concentration.Finally,systematic evaluation identifies 33.33%as the optimal Mn doping concentration,achieving a balance in enhanced reactivity,superior magnetic performance,and retained elastic stability. 展开更多

To investigate the influence of coarse aggregate parent rock properties on the elastic modulus of concrete,the mineralogical properties and stress-strain curves of granite and dolomite parent rocks,as well as the strength and elastic modulus of mortar and concrete prepared with mechanism aggregates of the corresponding lithology,and the stress-strain curves of concrete were investigated.In this paper,a coarse aggregate and mortar matrix bonding assumption is proposed,and a prediction model for the elastic modulus of mortar is established by considering the lithology of the mechanism sand and the slurry components.An equivalent coarse aggregate elastic modulus model was established by considering factors such as coarse aggregate particle size,volume fraction,and mortar thickness between coarse aggregates.Based on the elastic modulus of the equivalent coarse aggregate and the remaining mortar,a prediction model for the elastic modulus of the two and three components of concrete in series and then in parallel was established,and the predicted values differed from the measured values within 10%.It is proposed that the coarse aggregate elastic modulus in highstrength concrete is the most critical factor affecting the elastic modulus of concrete,and as the coarse aggregate elastic modulus increases by 27.7%,the concrete elastic modulus increases by 19.5%. 展开更多

Uncertain parameters are widespread in engineering systems.This study investigates the modal analysis of a fluid-conveying pipe subjected to elastic supports with unknown-but-bound parameters.The governing equation for the elastically supported fluid-conveying pipe is transformed into ordinary differential equations using the Galerkin truncation method.The Chebyshev interval approach,integrated with the assumed mode method is then used to investigate the effects of uncertainties of support stiffness,fluid speed,and pipe length on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the pipe.Additionally,both symmetrical and asymmetrical support stiffnesses are discussed.The accuracy and effectiveness of the Chebyshev interval approach are verified through comparison with the Monte Carlo method.The results reveal that,for the same deviation coefficient,uncertainties in symmetrical support stiffness have a greater impact on the first four natural frequencies than those of the asymmetrical one.There may be significant differences in the sensitivity of natural frequencies and mode shapes of the same order to uncertain parameters.Notably,mode shapes susceptible to uncertain parameters exhibit wider fluctuation intervals near the elastic supports,requiring more attention. 展开更多

Alkali-free SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-CaO-MgO with different SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)mass ratios was prepared by conventional melt quenching method.The glass network structure,thermodynamic properties and elastic modulus changes with SiO_(2)and Al_(2)O_(3)ratios were investigated using various techniques.It is found that when SiO_(2)is replaced by Al_(2)O_(3),the Q^(4) to Q^(3) transition of silicon-oxygen network decreases while the aluminum-oxygen network increases,which result in the transformation of Si-O-Si bonds to Si-O-Al bonds and an increase in glass network connectivity even though the intermolecular bond strength decreases.The glass transition temperature(T_(g))increases continuously,while the thermal expansion coefficient increases and high-temperature viscosity first decreases and then increases.Meanwhile,the elastic modulus values increase from 93 to 102 GPa.This indicates that the elastic modulus is mainly affected by packing factor and dissociation energy,and elements with higher packing factors and dissociation energies supplant those with lower values,resulting in increased rigidity within the glass. 展开更多

The microstructural evolution of Cu−19Ni−6Cr−7Mn alloy during aging treatment was investigated.After aging for 120 min at 500℃,the alloy exhibited excellent mechanical properties,including a tensile strength of 978 MPa and an elastic modulus of 145.8 GPa.After aging for 240 min at 500℃,the elastic modulus of the alloy reached 149.5 GPa,which was among the highest values reported for Cu alloys.It was worth mentioning that the tensile strength increased rapidly from 740 to 934 MPa after aging for 5 min at 500℃,which was close to the maximum tensile strength(978 MPa).Analysis of the underlying strengthening mechanisms and phase transformation behavior revealed that the Cu−19Ni−6Cr−7Mn alloy underwent spinodal decomposition and DO_(22) ordering during the first 5 min of aging at 500℃,and L1_(2) ordered phases and bcc-Cr precipitates appeared.Therefore,the enhanced mechanical properties of the Cu−19Ni−6Cr−7Mn alloy can be attributed to the stress field generated by spinodal decomposition and the presence of nanoscale ordered phase and Cr precipitates. 展开更多

This has rendered trade elasticities estimated using aggregate data highly unstable, with more recent data pointing to significantly higher demand and price elasticities. Sectoral differences in these parameters are also very wide. All this suggests greater caution should be exercised when using historical data to simulate the response of China's economy to external shocks and exchange rate changes. Analyses based on models with estimated coefficients largely representative of China in the 1980s and 1990s are likely to turn out to be wrong, perhaps even dramatically. 展开更多

The appearance of new product varieties and improvements in the quality of goods have both played key roles in the rapid growth of China's exports. However, these two important elements have not been formally integrated into the demand equations for China's exports. As we demonstrate in this paper, income elasticity will be underestimated if new varieties of goods and quality improvements are omitted in price index and quantity index calculations, which are necessary for estimating the export demand function. Moreover, the faster new product varieties enter export markets, the greater the underestimation will be. In this paper, we develop an export demand equation that takes into account newproduct varieties and improvements in quality, and then calculate the demand function for China's exports using the data from 1992 to 2006. According to our estimation, the short-term income elasticity of demand for China "s exports is approximately 2.34, and the short-term price elasticity is approximately-0. 65. Our estimation predicts an increase in China's export value in the case of an RMB appreciation or export rebate rates reduction in the short term, due to the low price elasticity of China's exports, whose absolute value is less than 1. BACKGROUND A total of 100 patients diagnosed with mixed hemorrhoids from October 2022 to September 2023 in our hospital were randomly divided into groups by dice rolling and compared with the efficacy of different treatment options.AIM To analyze the clinical effect and prognosis of mixed hemorrhoids treated with polidocanol injection combined with automatic elastic thread ligation operation(RPH).METHODS A total of 100 patients with mixed hemorrhoids who visited our hospital from October 2022 to September 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the control group(n=50)and the treatment group(n=50)by rolling the dice.The procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids(PPH)was adopted in the control group,while polidocanol foam injection+RPH was adopted in the treatment group.The therapeutic effects,operation time,wound healing time,hospital stay,pain situation(24 hours post-operative pain score,first defecation pain score),quality of life(QOL),incidence of complications(post-operative hemorrhage,edema,infection),incidence of anal stenosis 3 months post-operatively and recurrence rate 1 year post-operatively of the two groups were compared.RESULTS Compared with the control group,the total effective rate of treatment group was higher,and the difference was significant(P<0.05).The operation time/wound healing time/hospital stay in the treatment group were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).The pain scores at 24 hours after operation/first defecation pain score of the treatment group was significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After surgery,the QOL scores of the two groups decreased,with the treatment group having higher scores than that of the control group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the incidence of postoperative complications in the treatment group was lower,and the difference was significant(P<0.05);However,there was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative bleeding between the two groups(P>0.05);There was no significant difference in the incidence of anal stenosis 3 months after operation and the recurrence rate 1 year after operation between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION For patients with mixed hemorrhoids,the therapeutic effect achieved by using polidocanol injection combined with RPH was better.The wounds of the patients healed faster,the postoperative pain was milder,QOL improved,and the incidence of complications was lower,and the short-term and long-term prognosis was good. 展开更多

To examine the effect of bedding angle upon burst proneness in terms of energy,phyllites with seven various bedding angles are selected for conventional uniaxial compression and single-cyclic loading eunloading uniaxial compression tests.The ejection and failure during compression process of phyllites are monitored in real-time by high-speed camera system.The results demonstrate that the phyllites with different bedding angles all consistently follow the linear energy storage and dissipation(LESD)law during compression.The ultimate energy storage of phyllites with varying bedding angles can be calculated precisely via using the LESD law.Based on this,four kinds of energy-based rockburst indices are applied to quantitatively assess the burst proneness for phyllites.Combined with the recorded images of high-speed camera system,ejection distance,and mass of rock fragments and powder,the burst proneness for phyllites with various bedding angles is qualitatively evaluated adopting the far-field ejection mass ratio.Next,burst proneness of anisotropic phyllites is assessed quantitatively and qualitatively.It is found that phyllites with bedding angles of 0°,15°,and 90°have a high burst proneness,and that with bedding angle of 30°has a medium burst proneness,whereas the ones with bedding angles of 45°,60°,and 75°have a low burst proneness.Finally,the published experimental data of shale and sandstone specimens with different bedding angles are extracted,and it is preliminarily verified that the bedding angle does not change the LESD law of rocks. 展开更多

To investigate the wind⁃induced vibration re⁃sponse characteristics of multispan double⁃layer cable photo⁃voltaic(PV)support structures,wind tunnel tests using an aeroelastic model were carried out to obtain the wind⁃induced vibration response data of a three⁃span four⁃row double⁃layer cable PV support system.The wind⁃induced vibration characteristics with different PV module tilt angles,wind speeds,and wind direction angles were analyzed.The results showed that the double⁃layer cable large⁃span flexible PV support can effectively control the wind⁃induced vibration response and prevent the occur⁃rence of flutter under strong wind conditions.The maxi⁃mum value of the wind⁃induced vibration displacement of the flexible PV support system occurs in the windward first row.The upstream module has a significant shading effect on the downstream module,with a maximum effect of 23%.The most unfavorable wind direction angles of the structure are 0°and 180°.The change of the wind direction angle in the range of 0°to 30°has little effect on the wind vi⁃bration response.The change in the tilt angle of the PV modules has a greater impact on the wind vibration in the downwind direction and a smaller impact in the upwind di⁃rection.Special attention should be paid to the structural wind⁃resistant design of such systems in the upwind side span. 展开更多

Uplift of segmental linings in shield tunnels presents considerable challenges,potentially compromising the structural integrity of tunnels.The uplift movement can be physically modelled using a Timoshenko beam on a Winkler foundation.This study introduces an innovative method employing a physicsinformed neural network(PINN)to solve the governing differential equations of shield tunnel linings under specifiedboundary conditions,known loads,and foundation parameters.Importantly,the PINN does not rely on empirical data for training;instead,it incorporates physics-based constraints to accurately capture spatial variations in load and foundation stiffness during grouting and construction phases.The PINN model was validated with fielddata from a shield tunnel in the Pazhou branch of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity railway line.The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the model in predicting segment uplift.Furthermore,compared to traditional analytical solutions,the PINN model provides a more realistic representation of fieldconditions by integrating spatial variations in loading and foundation support. 展开更多

Conductor materials with good mechanical performance as well as high electrical and thermal conductivities are particularly important to break through the current bottle-neck limit(~ 100 T) of pulsed magnets. Here, we perform systematic studies on the elastic properties of the Cu–6wt% Ag alloy wire, which is a promising candidate material for the new-generation pulsed magnets, by employing two independent ultrasonic techniques, i.e., resonant ultrasound spectroscopy(RUS) and ultrasound pulse-echo experiments. Our RUS measurements manifest that the elastic properties of the Cu–6wt% Ag alloy wires can be improved by an electroplastic drawing procedure as compared with the conventional cold drawing. We also take this opportunity to test the availability of our newly-built ultrasound pulse-echo facility at the Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center(WHMFC, China), and the results suggest that the elastic performance of the electroplastically-drawn Cu–6wt% Ag alloy wire remains excellent without anomalous softening under extreme conditions,e.g., in ultra-high magnetic field up to 50 T and nitrogen or helium cryogenic liquids. 展开更多

To address the challenges posed by tunnel construction in the alpine region,silica fume mixed concrete is commonly used as a construction material.The correlation between silica fume content and the lining life requires immediate investigation.In view of this phenomenon,the durability of unit lining concrete is predicted by analyzing three key indicators:carbonation depth,relative dynamic elastic modulus,and residual quality.This prediction is achieved by integrating the Entropy Weight Method,Grey theory life prediction model and BP artificial neural networks using data from tests and predictions of these indicators.Then,the Entropy Weight-Grey theory-BP Network Model is compared with other methods to analyze the predicted life.Finally,verify the sci-entificity of this model,and the optimum silica fume content of unit concrete lining is verified.The results showed,1)The addition of silica fume will accelerate the carbonization of unit concrete lining,and slow down the freeze-thaw cycle and sulfate erosion.2)The utilization of artificial neural networks is essential for enhancing the realism of the data,as it emphasizes the significance of silica fume content.3)Silica fume content of 10%results in the longest life and is the most suitable for lining construction.4)A comparison between single-factor and multi-factor predictions indicates that the multi-factor approach yields a longer maximum life.This improvement can be attributed to the inclusion of additional factors,such as freeze-thaw cycles and carbonation,which enhance the predicted life when employing these methods.In conclusion,the Entropy Weight-Grey Theory-BP Network life prediction Model is well-suited for tunnel lining in the alpine sulfate area of northwest China. 展开更多

PDMM-Fed主要分为三步:(1)每个客户端上需要生成一个虚拟客户端,客户端上有训练数据集,虚拟客户端上无训练数据集;(2)将Elastic Net的目标函数均方误差项和正则化项分别置于客户端和虚拟客户端上,作为待优化的凸函数;(3)将PDMM中的子空间扰动方法引入到中心化的联邦学习网络拓扑中,以确保参与方本地的模型参数不会被逆向推理.实验结果表明,在保证客户端上模型参数安全的情形下,PDMM-Fed依然有着较高的通信效率和模型精度. 展开更多
