The traditional way of quantifying the load capacity and simulating deflection is the moment-curvature(M/χ) approach. The problem is that the M/χ approach is semi-empirical after cracking as it is strain-based and cannot allow for tension stiffening. This paper introduces the new displacement-based moment-rotation(M/θ) approach which directly simulates the development of cracks and hence allows for tension stiffening. This M/θ approach is then used to predict the load-deflection behavior of reinforced concrete beams with corrosion effect by incorporating the corrosion-affected bond-slip model. The bond-slip model only considers the corrosion effect but ignores the confinement effect. It is used here as an example to describe the procedure of how to quantify the corrosion effect on reinforced concrete beam behavior. The load-deflection curves obtained from the numerical simulation show a good agreement with test results. For reinforced concrete beams with confinement, the only difference is to replace the bond-slip model with the one which includes both corrosion and stirrup effects. Additionally, the paper shows how to use the M/θ approach with the bond-slip model to predict the real corrosion level of reinforcement in some tests in which only the theoretical corrosion levels are provided.展开更多

The influence of the interaction between rare earth elements and impurities on the cohesive properties of 5.3° low angle GB of Fe was investigated by the recursion method. The calculated results of environment sensitive embeding energy( E ESE ) show that the preferential segregation of rare earth elements towards GBs exists. Calculations of bond order integrals (BOI) show that rare earth elements increase the cohesive strength of low angle GB, and impurities such as S, P weaken the intergranular cohesion of the GB. So rare earth element of proper quantity added in steel not only cleanses other harmful impurities off the GBs, but also enhances the intergranular cohesion. This elucidates the action mechanism of rare earth elements in steel from electronic level and offers theoretical evidence for applications of rare earth elements in steels.展开更多

The fractionation of RE resulted from hydrothermal alterations, i. e., fluid-rock interactions, are distinctive. One set of field data implies the preferential mobility of the LRE, while another set of field observations demonstrates the dominant mobilization of the HRE, and some theoretical prediction is not consistent with the field evidence. Mischmetal (70Ce-30La) and Nd were prepared as rare earth elements. Diffusion couple testing was performed on the rare earth elements and cladding (9Cr2W steel) near the operation temperature of (sodium-cooled fast reactor) SFR fuel. The performance of a diffusion barrier consisting of Zr and V metallic foil against the rare earth elements was also evaluated. Our results showed that Ce and Nd in the rare earth elements and Fe in the clad material interdiffused and reacted to form intermetallic species according to the parabolic rate law, describing the migration of the rare earth element. The diffusion of Fe limited the reaction progress such that the entire process was governed by the cubic rate law. However, available design guidelines for BBMSEWs are limited and not applicable to numerical modeling when back-to-back walls interact with each other. The objective of this paper is to investigate, using PLAXIS code, the effects of the reduction in the distance between BBMSEW, the reinforcement length, the quality of backfill material and the connection of reinforcements in the middle, when the back-to-back walls are close. The results indicate that each of the BBMSEWs behaves independently if the width of the embankment between mechanically stabilized earth walls is greater than that of the active zone. This is in good agreement with the result of FHWA design guideline. However, the results show that the FHWA design guideline underestimates the lateral earth pressure when back-to-back walls interact with each other. Moreover, for closer BBMSEWs, FHWA design guideline strongly overestimates the maximum tensile force in the reinforcement. The investigation of the quality of backfill material shows that the minor increase in embankment cohesion can lead to significant reductions in both the lateral earth pressure and the maximum tensile force in geosynthetic. When the distance between the two earth walls is close to zero, the connection of reinforcement between back-to-back walls significantly improves the factor of safety.展开更多

The results show that the compounds CePb and CeBi with high melting point can be easily produced between these three elements in the filler metal, which greatly limited the formation of the isolated phase Pb or Bi and also eliminated the bad effect of impurity elements Pb and Bi on the spreading property of Ag-based filler metal. Therefore, the molar excess Gibbs energy of A-B binary system may be reexpressed as follows:Gm^E=xAxB[(λ11+λ12T)+(λ21+λ22T)xB]The calculation of the model parameters, λ11, λ12, λ21and λ22, was carried out numerically from the phase diagrams for 11 alkali metal-alkali halide or alkali earth metal-halide systems. In addition, artificial neural network trained by known data has been used to predict the values of these model parameters. The predicted results are in good agreement with the .calculated ones. The applicability of the subregular solution model to the alkali metal-alkali halide or alkali earth metal-halide systems were tested by comparing the available experimental composition along the boundary of miscibility gap with the calculated ones which were obtained by using genetic algorithm. The good agreement between the calculated and experimental results across the entire liquidus is valid evidence in support of the model.展开更多

It is not sufficient to show the mobility only by the absolute abundance of trace elements changes before and after alteration. This can simply result from dilution or concentration if other elements are added to or removed from the rock. As shown by that in Yinshan deposit, less than 20% of the increment of RE was caused by the 'condensed' of leaching some of major elements (e.g. Si, Na) from the rock. The principal factor which should be responsible for the higher contents of RE in altered rock is the addition of RE into the rock by hydrothermal fluids. Eu is selectively leached from the altered sericite phyllite by a mild acidity and reducing fluid which is characterized by much lower LRE/HRE ratio and a large positive Eu anomaly. A major effect on the RE patterns is the tendency to develop relatively flatter chondrite-normalized patterns. The RE characteristics may be used to distinguish between small and large ore bodies at a later stage of exploration.展开更多

The friction materials with rare earth additive were manufactured by heating press molding process. The effects of different reinforcing fibers and adhesives on the properties of the materials were studied by changing the formula. The results showed that the friction materials with YSM resin adhesive and hybrid fibers (Kevlar pulp and steel fiber) had higher and more stable friction coefficient and lower wear rate. Semi-metal friction materials with rare earths formed iron-rich surface layer in the worn surface, and the mechanisms of wear had obvious differences at typical temperature ranges.展开更多

However, the unevendistribution of human population and data trafficon the ground incurs unbalanced traffic load inLEO satellite networks. To this end, we proposea load-balancing routing algorithm for LEO satellitenetworks based on ant colony optimization and reinforcementlearning. 文摘Back-to-back mechanically stabilized earth walls (BBMSEWs) are encountered in bridge approaches, ramp ways, rockfall protection systems, earth dams, levees and noise barriers. When the distance between the two earth walls is close to zero, the connection of reinforcement between back-to-back walls significantly improves the factor of safety.
文摘The mechanism of interaction relation between the rare-earth element Ce and elements Pb and Bi in Ag-based filler metal has been studied. The metallurgical and quantum-mechanical bond formation analysis show that a strong chemical affinity was existed between the rare-earth element Ce and impurity elements Pb and Bi, which was proved by the XRD analysis results.
文摘In this paper, the interaction parameters in the subregular solution model, λ1 and λ2, are regarded as a linear function of temperature, T. The good agreement between the calculated and experimental results across the entire liquidus is valid evidence in support of the model.

文摘Information spreading has been investigated for many years, but the mechanism of why the information explosively catches on overnight is still under debate. This explosive spreading phenomenon was usually considered driven separately by social reinforcement or higher-order interactions. However, due to the limitations of empirical data and theoretical analysis, how the higher-order network structure affects the explosive information spreading under the role of social reinforcement has not been fully explored. In this work,we propose an information-spreading model by considering the social reinforcement in real and synthetic higher-order networks, describable as hypergraphs.Depending on the average group size(hyperedge cardinality)and node membership(hyperdegree),we observe two different spreading behaviors:(i)The spreading progress is not sensitive to social reinforcement, resulting in the information localized in a small part of nodes;(ii)a strong social reinforcement will promote the large-scale spread of information and induce an explosive transition. Moreover,a large average group size and membership would be beneficial to the appearance of the explosive transition.Further,we display that the heterogeneity of the node membership and group size distributions benefit the information spreading. Finally,we extend the group-based approximate master equations to verify the simulation results. Our findings may help us to comprehend the rapidly information-spreading phenomenon in modern society.
文摘Rare earths in ores, altered and unaltered sericite phyllite, altered and unaltered dacite porphyry were determined in order to examine behaviors of rare earths in hydrothermal alteration associating with ore-forming processes of Yinshan deposit. The RE characteristics may be used to distinguish between small and large ore bodies at a later stage of exploration.
文摘Semi-metal friction material was applied widely in brake process of traffic and dynamical system. Semi-metal friction materials with rare earths formed iron-rich surface layer in the worn surface, and the mechanisms of wear had obvious differences at typical temperature ranges.

文摘Low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networkscan provide wider service coverage and lower latencythan traditional terrestrial networks, which haveattracted considerable attention. However, the unevendistribution of human population and data trafficon the ground incurs unbalanced traffic load inLEO satellite networks. To this end, we proposea load-balancing routing algorithm for LEO satellitenetworks based on ant colony optimization and reinforcementlearning. In the ant colony algorithm,we improve the pheromone update rule by introducingload-aware heuristic information, e.g., the currentnode transmission overhead, delay and load status, andreinforcement learning-based link quality evaluation. It enables the routing algorithm to select the lightlyloaded node as the next hop to balance the networkload. We simulate and verify the proposed algorithmusing the NS2 simulation platform, and the resultsshow that our algorithm improves the data delivery ratioand throughput while ensuring lower latency andtransmission overhead.

文摘We demonstrate a reinforcement learning(RL)-based control framework for optimizing evaporative cooling in the preparation of strongly interacting degenerate Fermi gases of 6Li.Using a Soft Actor-Critic(SAC)algorithm,the system autonomously explores a high-dimensional parameter space to learn optimal cooling trajectories.Compared to conventional exponential ramps, our method achieves up to 130%improvement in atomic density within 0.5 second, revealing non-trivial control strategies that balance fast evaporation and thermalization. While our current optimization focuses on the evaporation stage, future integration of other cooling stages, such as gray molasses cooling, could further extend RL to the full preparation pipeline. Our result highlights the promise of RL as a general tool for closed-loop quantum control and automated calibration in complex atomic physics experiments.
文摘In this work,a numerical study of the effects of soil-structure interaction(SSI)and granular material-structure interaction(GSI)on the nonlinear response and seismic capacity of flat-bottomed storage silos is conducted.A series of incremental dynamic analyses(IDA)are performed on a case of large reinforced concrete silo using 10 seismic recordings. The IDA results are given by two average IDA capacity curves, which are represented,as well as the seismic capacity of the studied structure, with and without a consideration of the SSI while accounting for the effect of GSI.These curves are used to quantify and evaluate the damage of the studied silo by utilizing two damage indices, one based on dissipated energy and the other on displacement and dissipated energy. The cumulative energy dissipation curves obtained by the average IDA capacity curves with and without SSI are presented as a function of the base shear, and these curves allow one to obtain the two critical points and the different limit states of the structure. It is observed that the SSI and GSI significantly influence the seismic response and capacity of the studied structure, particularly at higher levels of PGA.Moreover, the effect of the SSI reduces the damage index of the studied structure by 4%.

文摘Refractories have an important effect on the cleanliness of molten steel. The interaction between CeAlO_(3) refractories and Ce treated steel was explored and compared with that between Al_(2)O_(3) refractories and Ce treated steel. The results show that the Ce content in steel decreases sharply after contact with Al_(2)O_(3) refractories and the pick-up of dissolved Al occurs.Compared with the test of Al_(2)O_(3) refractories, the loss of Ce content is less in the test of CeAlO_(3) refractory, and the total oxygen content and dissolved Al content in steel increase less. The dense and continuous Ce_(2)O_(2)S interface layer is observed at the CeAlO_(3) refractories/steel interface, which can serve as the metallurgical isolation layer and hinder the further interaction between refractories and steel. Therefore, the higher steel cleanliness and less penetration of refractories by molten steel are obtained in the test of CeAlO_(3) refractories. The CeAlO_(3) refractories show a promising prospect in the production of clean Ce treated steel.
