This paper examines Hernán Díaz’s novel Trust (2022) through the lens of cultural deconstruction, analyzing how its four nested narratives systematically dismantle the American Dream ideology. The novel Bon...This paper examines Hernán Díaz’s novel Trust (2022) through the lens of cultural deconstruction, analyzing how its four nested narratives systematically dismantle the American Dream ideology. The novel Bonds and autobiography My Life collaboratively construct a financial myth portraying protagonist Andrew Bevel as an exemplar of self-made success. Subsequently, Ida’s Memoir exposes the subjective construction of history, declaring the American Dream’s bankruptcy at the epistemological level, while Mildred’s diary Futures deconstructs the myth from within by revealing that Bevel’s financial genius was built upon appropriation of his wife’s intellectual labor. This paper argues that Trust reveals the American Dream as an ideological illusion-narratively constructed, practically dependent on structural injustice, and essentially serving power reproduction.展开更多

The substrate, physiological mechanism, and function of dreaming have been explained by many scientists from the neurological,psychiatric, psychological, and philosophical perspective. With the development of scientific technology, many theories of dreaming have been established. In the present review, we first summarize the different theories of dreaming; furthermore, we introduce memory consolidation and reconsolidation. Lastly, we propose that memory might be associated with memory reconsolidation and list the explanations.展开更多

There is no definition of national rejuvenation： nobody knows what it will look like. According to the Chinese leadership, the future models must be found from domestic soil and tradition. Traditionally, China was seen as a civilization at the center of All-Under- Heaven, a non-hegemonic power which relied to force only in order to protect itself against outside aggression. There are two upcoming centennials that serve as major milestones along the way to the rejuvenation, namely the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party in 2021, and the establishment of the People＇s Republic in 2049. The celebrations then will reveal if China follows this ancient tradition of benevolence, peacefulness and wisdom.展开更多
