DEE (diesel exhaust emitted) and fossil fuel do contribute to the pollution of ecosystem while very little is known about their toxic effects on pulmonary tissue in the short-term. Ten male Guinea pigs exposed to DE...DEE (diesel exhaust emitted) and fossil fuel do contribute to the pollution of ecosystem while very little is known about their toxic effects on pulmonary tissue in the short-term. Ten male Guinea pigs exposed to DEE in an open system experiment at different time schemes and their tracheas and lungs were processed for routine Histology, Immunohistochemsitry and TEM (transmission Electron Microscopy) techniques. The results revealed early toxicological effects of DEE on pulmonary tissue involved cellular damages to the mucosa of trachea and bronchial tree, rupture of alveolar walls, disintegration of pneumocytes, development of mucous secretions, swellings in the alveolar network, hemorrhage and lymphatic infiltration all over the parenchyma starting from the early hours of exposure to DEE. Ultrastructural changes confirmed the ruptures to the alveolar walls, infiltration of various WBC (white blood cells), development of vacuoles inside the cytoplasmic organelles of pnemocytes, distortion in morphology of both RBCs (Red Blood corpuscles) which all had begun as early as 1 h following the exposure to the DEE. Activation of the immune system was noted via the increase in size of lymph nodules to confront the invaded particulates. These results indicate blockage of the respiratory leading to suffocation and do alert the expected acute cellular harms to the pulmonary tissues following exposure to the DEE of mechanics work in vicinity of DEE who spend most daily hours in semi-closed areas.展开更多

It returned to China with Chen Laiyuan and Hu Ming's translations in 1980s, and since then there emerged various studies by Chinese scholars on Robert van Gulik and his works. This article makes a historical review of Judge Dee Mysteries in Chinese world during the past 20 years, presents problems in translating and introducing Robert van Gulik in Chinese, and proposes comments and suggestions for further translation and studies of Judge Dee Mysteries in a comparison with Chinese gong'an fictions.展开更多

It is physics based and is onl...A smoothing algorithm for energy spectrum based on differential nonlinearity(DNL) error elimination with total counts conservation for high-energy particle detector systems is presented. It is physics based and is only determined by the DNL error of analog-to-digital converter device itself. From the experimental results, this algorithm slightly improves both noise performance and energy resolution, while greatly reduces the testing errors by almost a half compared to their original values. In addition, the reduced-x^2 statistic for evaluating the Gaussian fitting goodness is significantly reduced by almost two orders after smoothing. As a typical verification example,this algorithm is successfully applied in the ground calibration of the Low Energy X-ray Instrument onboard the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(HXMT-LE) satellite,lending it a powerful, nondestructive and low-cost tool for both calibration and data processing for high-energy particle detector systems.展开更多

Entanglement plays a key role in quantum physics, but how much information it can extract from many-body systems is still an open question, particularly regarding quantum criticalities and emergent symmetries. In this...Entanglement plays a key role in quantum physics, but how much information it can extract from many-body systems is still an open question, particularly regarding quantum criticalities and emergent symmetries. In this work, we systematically study the entanglement entropy(EE) and derivative entanglement entropy(DEE) near quantum phase transitions in various quantum many-body systems. A one-parameter scaling relation between the DEE and system size at the critical point has been derived for the first time, which successfully obtains the critical exponent via data collapse. Furthermore, we find that the EE peaks at the(emergent) symmetryenhanced first-order transition, reflecting higher symmetry breaking. This work provides a new paradigm for quantum many-body research from the perspective of EE and DEE.展开更多
