Although many techniques w... Frequent item sets mining plays an important role in association rules mining. A variety of algorithms for finding frequent item sets in very large transaction databases have been developed. Although many techniques were proposed for maintenance of the discovered rules when new transactions are added, little work is done for maintaining the discovered rules when some transactions are deleted from the database. Updates are fundamental aspect of data management. In this paper, a decremental association rules mining algorithm is present for updating the discovered association rules when some transactions are removed from the original data set. Extensive experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and outperforms other well-known algorithms. 展开更多

This experimental study is a contribution to the search for solutions to reduce indoor heat gain through sheet metal roofing in hot weather. It has evaluated the thermal impact of two different sheet metal roofs inside of two identical test buildings in sunny weather and cloudy weather conditions. Test building 1 has a single sheet corrugated roof and the building 2 is covered with roof made from top to bottom with corrugated sheet metal, a 12 mm thick serpentine copper tube in which water is circulated, a sheet of aluminium foil acting as a heat reflector, a 4 cm thick polystyrene panel and a 1.5 cm thick plywood. A maximum reduction of 15.1˚C in the temperature of the inner face of the test Building 2 roof was obtained comparatively to the temperature of the inner face of the test Building 1 roof consisting of a single sheet of metal at the warmest hours. In addition, the simple corrugated sheet metal roof of the test building generates high and varied temperatures inside the building. Whereas the proposed heat recovery roof favours low and relatively uniform temperatures inside the building. The proposed sheet metal roof construction technique is very effective in reducing the heat gain through the roof considerably;thus improving the thermal comfort inside sheet metal roofed dwellings. Hot water has been produced by recovering heat from the metal sheet of the roof of test building 2. The temperature of the hot water produced reached of 39˚C. This study could be also an alternative for the reduction of energy consumption due to the use of mechanical means for cooling of sheet metal roofed houses and the reduction of the use of fossil fuels for domestic hot water production. 展开更多

In view of the feature of flight flutter test data with atmospheric turbulence excitation, a method which combines wavelet transformation with random decrement technique for identifying flight flutter modal parameters is presented. This approach firstly uses random decrement technique to gain free decays corresponding to the acceleration response of the structure to some non-zero initial conditions. Then the continuous Morlet wavelet transformation of the free decays is performed; and the Parseval formula and residue theorem are used to simplify the transformation. The maximal wavelet transformation coefficients in different scales are searched out by means of band-filtering characteristic of Morlet wavelet, and then the modal parameters are identified according to the relationships with maximal modulus and angle of the wavelet transform. In addition, the condition of modal uncoupling is discussed according to variation trend of flight flutter modal parameters in the flight flutter state. The analysis results of simulation and flight flutter test data show that this approach is not only simple, effective and feasible, but also having good noise immunity. 展开更多

As the solutions of the least squares support vector regression machine (LS-SVRM) are not sparse, it leads to slow prediction speed and limits its applications. The defects of the ex- isting adaptive pruning algorithm for LS-SVRM are that the training speed is slow, and the generalization performance is not satis- factory, especially for large scale problems. Hence an improved algorithm is proposed. In order to accelerate the training speed, the pruned data point and fast leave-one-out error are employed to validate the temporary model obtained after decremental learning. The novel objective function in the termination condition which in- volves the whole constraints generated by all training data points and three pruning strategies are employed to improve the generali- zation performance. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested on six benchmark datasets. The sparse LS-SVRM model has a faster training speed and better generalization performance. 展开更多

The dying-back hypothesis holds that the damage to neuromuscular junctions and distal axons in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis occurs at the earliest stage of the disease.Previous basic studies have confirmed early damage to neuromuscular junctions,but it is difficult to obtain such evidence directly in clinical practice.In this prospective cross-sectional study,we recruited 22 patients with early amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with disease duration < 12 months and with clinical symptoms limited to the upper limbs.We also recruited 32 healthy controls.Repetitive nerve stimulation was performed,and patients were followed for 12 months.We found a significant change in the response to repetitive nerve stimulation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients without spontaneous electromyographic activity.Patients that were prone to denervation had an increased decrement response of target muscles after repetitive nerve stimulation.These results suggest that changes in response to repetitive nerve stimulation may occur before denervation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients.The damage to lower motor neurons is more obvious in patients with a higher percentage of repetitive never stimulation-related amplitude decrements.This study was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee of Peking University Third Hospital(approval No.M2017198) on August 24,2017. 展开更多

Traditional modal parameter identifi cation methods have many disadvantages,especially when used for processing nonlinear and non-stationary signals.In addition,they are usually not able to accurately identify the damping ratio and damage.In this study,methods based on the Hilbert-Huang transform(HHT) are investigated for structural modal parameter identifi cation and damage diagnosis.First,mirror extension and prediction via a radial basis function(RBF) neural network are used to restrain the troublesome end-effect issue in empirical mode decomposition(EMD),which is a crucial part of HHT.Then,the approaches based on HHT combined with other techniques,such as the random decrement technique(RDT),natural excitation technique(NExT) and stochastic subspace identifi cation(SSI),are proposed to identify modal parameters of structures.Furthermore,a damage diagnosis method based on the HHT is also proposed.Time-varying instantaneous frequency and instantaneous energy are used to identify the damage evolution of the structure.The relative amplitude of the Hilbert marginal spectrum is used to identify the damage location of the structure.Finally,acceleration records at gauge points from shaking table testing of a 12-story reinforced concrete frame model are taken to validate the proposed approaches.The results show that the proposed approaches based on HHT for modal parameter identifi cation and damage diagnosis are reliable and practical. 展开更多

Three groups of dynamic triaxial tests were performed for saturated Nanjing fine sand subjected to uniform cyclic loading. The tested curves of the excess pore water pressure (EPWP) ratio variation with the ratio of the number of cycles are provided. The concept of the EPWP increment ratio is introduced and two new concepts of the effective dynamic shear stress ratio and the log decrement of effective stress are defined. It is found that the development of the EPWP increment ratio can be divided into three stages: descending, stable and ascending. Furthermore, at the stable and ascending stages, a satisfactory linear relationship is obtained between the accumulative EPWP increment ratio and natural logarithm of the effective dynamic shear stress ratio. Accordingly, the EPWP increment ratio at the number of cycles N has been deduced that is proportional to the log decrement of effective stress at the cycle number N-l, but is independent of the cyclic stress amplitude. Based on the analysis, a new EPWP increment model for saturated Nanjing fine sand is developed from tested data fitting, which provides a better prediction of the curves of EPWP generation, the number of cycles required for initial liquefaction and the liquefaction resistance. 展开更多

Vibration behaviors of bogie hunting motion contain key information that dominates the dynamic performance of rail vehicles,in which the eigenvalue of each mode reflects the damping ratio and the natural frequency.This paper focuses on the root loci curves of bogie hunting motion,starting from a rigid bogie,then to a bogie with flexible primary suspension.With regard to the rigid bogie,analytical formulas for the eigenvalues,the critical speed as well as the corresponding hunting frequency are derived and verified.While for the flexible bogie,the root loci curves are calculated numerically.The study shows that both free rigid bogie and free wheelset are dynamically unstable at any speed.The critical speed increases with diminished wheel-rail conicity,track gauge,and wheelset and bogie inertia,and with increased wheelbase and wheel radius.The dominating factors such as the stiffness of the primary suspension and the wheel-rail conicity should be optimized for a practical design.The influences of the damping coefficients and the variations of creep coefficients are negligible.The motor suspension affects the root loci curves and the critical speed significantly.Both inappropriate motor suspension design and rigidly suspended motor reduce the critical speed.The increase of critical speed by a motor suspension can only be achieved when the lower natural frequency of the motor-bogie frame-wheelsets system coincides with or is close to the hunting frequency.Special care should be taken for the design of motor suspension,the first is to avoid the decreased damping ratio in a certain speed range below the critical speed and the second is that the variations of parameters should not induce the rapid reduction of the critical speed.The main feature of the present study is that the root loci curves,which are derived as analytical formulas or calculated numerically,are used to study the vibrational behaviors of bogie hunting motion.Both the influencing laws of the dominating parameters and the principles regarding the motor suspension are significant for the stability design of modem railway vehicles which may use innovative structures/materials as well as modem control and monitoring technologies. 展开更多

Effects of dielectric decrement on surface potential in a mixed electrolyte solution

Surface potential is an important parameter related to the physical and chemical properties of charged particles. A simple analytical model for the estimation of surface potential is established based on the Poisson–Boltzmann theory with the consideration of the dielectric decrement in mixed electrolyte. The analytical relationships between surface potential and charge density are derived in different mixed electrolytes with monovalent and bivalent ions. The dielectric decrease on the charged surface strongly affects the surface potential at a high charge density with different ion strengths and concentration ratios of counter-ions. The surface potential based on the Gouy–Chapman model is underestimated because of the dielectric decrement on the surface. The diffuse layer can be regarded as a continuous uniform medium only when the surface charge density is lower than 0.3 C·m-2. However, the surface charge densities of many materials in practical applications are higher than 0.3 C·m-2. The new model for the estimation of surface potential can return to the results obtained based on the Gouy–Chapman model at a low charge density. Therefore, it is implied that the established model that considers the dielectric decrement is valid and widely applicable. 展开更多

In order to study women's fertility and behavior in shaanxi Province, we used PPS method to sample Weinan, Nanzheng and Yan'an counties which represent the centre, south and north of Shaanxi respectively from February to March in 1990. 3253 qualified married women of reproductive age were available. Because contraception is one of the most imPOrtant proximate determinants in inhibiting fertility, we just measured contraceptive prevalence and use-effectiveness among different subgroups in this dissertation. The results indicated that the prevalence rate of contraception was 75. 9 %, prevalence of different contraceptive methods varied widely: it was 43. 5% in IUD, 27. 7% in women'sterilization, 2. 0% in pill, 1.9% in men's sterilization, 0. 2% in condom and 0. 7 % in other methods, The average use-effectiveness of three methods was 0. 9965 for sterilization,0. 8792 for IUD and 0. 8520 for other methods and total average use-effectiveness was 0. 9251. 展开更多

The aim of this study is to clarify the application effect of pesticide decrement synergist ' Jijian' on wheal stripe lUSt. Sampling investigation, randomized block design and statistic analysis were carried out to find out the field efficacy of adding ' Jijian' to triadimefon WP and propiconazole EC on controlling wheat stripe rust. The results showed that during the epidemic period of stripe rust, the control effects on the 7^th and the 19^th d reached more than 93% and 100% , respectively, by the application of 15% triadimefon WP of 1 200 g/hm^2 and 25% propiconazole EC of 600 mlhm^2 , respectively for 2 times ; when 15% triadimefon WP of 840 g/hm^2 + ' Jijian' of 225 g/hm^2 or 25 % propiconazole EC of 420 mlhm^2 + ' Jijian' of 225 g/hm^2 were applied ( adding ' Jijian' and reducing the dosage of the 2 pesticides by 30% ) , the control effect on the 7^th d was 89.4% and 91.7% , respectively, while the control effect on the 19a' d was 99.8 - 100% ; when 15% triadimefon WP of 720 - 600 g/hm^2 + ' Jijian' of 225 g/hm^2 or 25% propiconazole EC 360 - 300 mlhm^2 + ' Jijian' of 225 g/hm^2 were applied ( adding ' Jijian' and reducing the dosage of the 2 pesticides by 40% - 50% ) , the control effect on the 7a' day reached more than 78.0% , while the control effect on the 19^th day was 97.7% - 99.8%. There was no significant difference on the control effect at the 7^th d between the treatments using the 2 pesticides alone and the treatments adding ' Jijian' and reducing the dosage of the 2 pesticides by 30%, but all had significant differences from the treatments adding ' Jijian' and reducing the dosage of the 2 pesticides by40% -50%. There was no significant difference on the control effect of the 19^th d among different treatments. Therefore, if the disease is not serious, the application of ' Jijian' can reduce the application amounts of pesticides by 40% -50%, that is, 15% triadimefon WP of 720 -600 g/hm^2 + ' Jijian' of 225 g/hm^2 or 25 % propiconazole EC of 360- 300 ml/hm^2 + ' Jijian' of 225 g/hm^2, which is helpful to reduce the pesticide application amounts and pesticide residue pollution, and save the control costs. 展开更多

The random decrement technique is an averaging technique that can be used to extract the free decay response of the structure from its random stationary vibratory response. The free decay response can then be used to identify the vibratory characteristics of the structure. The main advantage of the technique is that the identification of the parameters of the structure is achieved without previous knowledge of the excitation forces. This paper extends the random decrement technique to obtain the mode shapes of the structure using the concept of a multichannel random decrement technique (MCRD). This technique is based on extracting simultaneous random decrement records from measurements made at several points on the structure. The method is very efficient and simple. Numerical examples are solved and compared with the exact mode shapes extracted using classical modal analysis. An excellent agreement between the extracted modes shapes using the MCRD and those obtained from the classical modal analysis techniques is achieved. The vibration of an offshore structure excited by white noise excitation is used to illustrate the method. 展开更多

The hut, including several rooms, is entirely built with earthen walls, earthen floor, earthen ceiling, covered by a double straw roof and its central courtyard. A room noted (L) and a semi-opened living space were chosen as spaces for hygro-thermal experimentation. The hottest average temperature obtained respectively in the room (L) and in the living space is 25.5˚C and 27˚C when outside is about 34˚C. The thermal amplitude inside room (L) is 0.88˚C, in semi-opened living space, is 2.6˚C and outside is 9.5˚C. With these results we can say that room (L) undergoes very low temperature variations and that there is no need to air-condition in the enclosure. The thermal amplitude makes it possible to see the influence of the earthen walls on the interior temperature and its regularity compared to the fluctuation of the external temperature. The thermal inertia of the building walls was characterized using also the time lag and the decrement factor. They was respectively 7.0 H and 0.093 for the room (L). With this result we can say that this material has a high thermal inertia. For humidity, it is high around 78.5% in the room (L), 66.0% at the semi-open living room, when it is 59.0% outside. Through this study, it is possible that the revalorization of vernacular architecture can be an alternative to reduce the energy consumption of buildings. 展开更多

The accident demonstrated the need for stricter regulations to ensure the seismic resistance of NPP and the need to develop and implement additional anti-seismic procedures in the course of their operation. To proof seismic reliability of NPP systems and components must be made special studies of logarithmic decrement of systems NPP and components. The correct definition of coolant thermodynamics parameters and acoustic parameters are necessary to evaluate logarithmic decrement of coolant systems NPP and their components and consequently for providing of NPP seismic reliability. The proof of presence of a gas phase in the coolant inside reactor is of great importance for practice because of its influence on coolant acoustical parameters and consequently on range of frequency of seismic-acoustical resonance type interaction. Results are obtained by using of known methods in oscillation theory, general acoustics, thermodynamic, electro-mechanical analogies. This study examines the benefits of incorporating passive techniques into multilayer hollow clay brick walls to improve their dynamic thermal performance.The finite element approach was used to solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes and energy equations to analyze the dynamic thermal response of walls exposed to real thermal excitations of the Marrakesh climate.The results show that increasing the emissivity from 0.1 to 0.9 significantly increases the total heat load over 24 h.Furthermore,filling 100% of the cavities with insulation materials delayed the temperature peak by about 2.3 h and lowered the decrement factor by roughly 43%,with a value smaller than 0.07.In addition,it is demonstrated that the total thermal load is reduced by approximately 28% for improved wall configurations(100% insulation filling cavities)compared to traditional wall configurations(100% air filling cavities),which aids in improving building energy efficiency. 展开更多

Background: Nowadays, it is widely known that decremental responses in low-frequency repetitive nerve stimulation (LF-RNS) are frequently observed in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The pathological mechanism of this phenomenon remains unknown. This study aimed to illuminate the features of RNS in Chinese patients with ALS. Methods: Clinical and electrophysiological data of 146 probable and definite ALS patients who underwent RNS were retrospectively enrolled and analyzed. LF-RNS (3 Hz) was performed in trapezius, deltoid, abductor digiti minimi (ADM), quadriceps femoris, and tibialis anterior. High-frequency RNS (HF-RNS, 10 Hz) was performed only in ADM. The two-sample t-test and Chi-squared test were used for statistical analysis.Results: Decremental responses to LF-RNS (≥ 10%) in at least one muscle were detected in 83 (56.8%) of the cases and were most commonly seen in trapezius and deltoid. The incidence ofdecremental response was higher in patients with upper limb onset. Incremental responses to HF-RNS (≥60%) in ADM were observed in 6 (5.6%) of the cases. In 106 muscles with decremental response, 62 (57.4%) muscles had a continuous decremental pattern, more than a U-shape pattern (37 cases, 34.3%). Nineteen cases showed definite decrements in LF-RNS tests in trapezius, while no abnormalities were found in the electromyography and neurological examination of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, supplied by the accessory nerve as well.Conclusions: Decremental responses in the RNS are commonly observed in ALS patients. The findings regarding the trapezius indicated that some ALS onsets could be initiated by a "dying back" process, with destruction of neuromuscular junctions (NMJs) before motor neurons. Incremental responses in the ADM implied damage of the NMJs involved both the post and presynaptic membranes. 展开更多
