Inspired by the DNA molecular operation characteristics, the DNA evolutionary algorithm modifies the corresponding genetic operators. Compared with the traditional genetic algorithm (GA), the DNA evolutionary algorithm can overcome weak local search capability and premature convergence. The parameters of membership functions are optimized by adopting the quaternary encoding method and performing corresponding DNA genetic operators. The relevant optimized parameters are combined with the FLC for single intersection traffic signal control. Simulation experiments shows the better performance of the FLC with the DNA evolutionary algorithm optimization. The experimental results demonstrate the efficiency of the nrotmsed method.展开更多

Traditionally, it is time consuming for biologists to exam the gel images by their eyes and often has human errors during the process. Therefore, automatic analysis of the gel image could provide more information that is usually ignored by human expert. However, basic tasks such as the identification of lanes in a gel image, easily done by human experts, emerge as problems that may be difficult to be executed automatically. In this paper, we design an automatic procedure to analyze DNA gel images using various image processing algorithms. Firstly, we employ an enhanced fuzzy c-means algorithm to extract the useful information from DNA gel images and exclude the undesired background. Then, Gaussian function is utilized to estimate the location of each lane of A, T, C, and G on the gels images automatically. Finally, the location of each band on the gel image can be detected accurately by tracing lanes, renewing lost bands, and eliminating repetitive bands.展开更多

Exactly, we are considering the problem of reconstructing the distance matrix for DNA chains. Such a matrix is formed on the basis of any of the possible algorithms for determining the distances between DNA chains, as well as any specific object of study. At the same time, for example, the practical programming results show that on an average modern computer, it takes about a day to build such a 30 × 30 matrix for mnDNAs using the Needleman-Wunsch algorithm;therefore, for such a 300 × 300 matrix, about 3 months of continuous computer operation is expected. Thus, even for a relatively small number of species, calculating the distance matrix on conventional computers is hardly feasible and the supercomputers are usually not available. Therefore, we started publishing our variants of the algorithms for calculating the distance between two DNA chains, then we publish algorithms for restoring partially filled matrices, i.e., the inverse problem of matrix processing. Previously, we used the method of branches and boundaries, but in this paper we propose to use another new algorithm for restoring the distance matrix for DNA chains. Our recent work has shown that even greater improvement in the quality of the algorithm can often be achieved without improving the auxiliary heuristics of the branches and boundaries method. Thus, we are improving the algorithms that formulate the greedy function of this method only. .展开更多
