We read with great interest the investigations conducted by Pourakbar et al.(2024)on the“Stabilization of clay soil using alkali-activated sewage sludge.”The authors have investigated the feasibility of utilizing al...We read with great interest the investigations conducted by Pourakbar et al.(2024)on the“Stabilization of clay soil using alkali-activated sewage sludge.”The authors have investigated the feasibility of utilizing alkali-activated sewage sludge(AASS)as a binder for stabilizing the clayey soil.Sewage sludge(SS)in varying proportions of 1.5%,2%,2.5%,3.5%,and 4.5%was utilized to prepare geopolymer binders using sodium and potassium-based alkali activators.Furthermore,unconfined compressive strength(UCS)and direct shear tests were conducted to examine the strength development of clayey soil stabilized with AASS.While the study presented some intriguing results,we have identified critical concerns regarding(i)the selection of SS as a precursor for alkali activation,(ii)technical inconsistencies associated with the compaction characteristics and microstructural analysis,and(iii)the feasibility of the proposed methodology for practical applications.Through our discussion,we seek to highlight these issues and provide constructive feedback to advance the understanding of alkali activation processes and their implications for soil stabilization.展开更多

The emergence of various technologies such as terahertz communications,Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces(RIS),and AI-powered communication services will burden network operators with rising infrastructure costs.Rece...The emergence of various technologies such as terahertz communications,Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces(RIS),and AI-powered communication services will burden network operators with rising infrastructure costs.Recently,the Open Radio Access Network(O-RAN)has been introduced as a solution for growing financial and operational burdens in Beyond 5G(B5G)and 6G networks.O-RAN promotes openness and intelligence to overcome the limitations of traditional RANs.By disaggregating conventional Base Band Units(BBUs)into O-RAN Distributed Units(O-DU)and O-RAN Centralized Units(O-CU),O-RAN offers greater flexibility for upgrades and network automation.However,this openness introduces new security challenges compared to traditional RANs.Many existing studies overlook these security requirements of the O-RAN networks.To gain deeper insights into the O-RAN system and security,this paper first provides an overview of the general O-RAN architecture and its diverse use cases relevant to B5G and 6G applications.We then delve into specifications of O-RAN security threats and requirements,aiming to mitigate security vulnerabilities effectively.By providing a comprehensive understanding of O-RAN architecture,use cases,and security considerations,thisworkserves as a valuable resource for future research in O-RAN and its security.展开更多

Based on the theory of Zangfu organs and meridians, it draws on the essence of the academics of doctors in the past dynasties, especially the important theory of Huangdi Neijing to guide the clinical practice of acupuncture and moxibustion. This paper introduces the academic thought of HE's tube acupuncture. Mr HE believes that the pathogenesis of vertigo is mainly the first, kidney essence is deficient, and the heart fire burns alone,therefore disharmony occurs between heart and kidney. Secondly, liver and kidney Yin's deficiency, Yin is deficient while Yang is hyperactive or Yin is deficient and wind. Thirdly, the spleen Qi is deficient, Qingyang fails to ascend, and the main Zangfu organs are responsible for the liver, spleen and kidney. Chronic low-back pain(CLBP) is one of the most common pain conditions. Current clinical guidelines for low-back pain recommend acupuncture for CLBP. However, there are very few high-quality acupuncture studies on CLBP...Chronic low-back pain(CLBP) is one of the most common pain conditions. Current clinical guidelines for low-back pain recommend acupuncture for CLBP. However, there are very few high-quality acupuncture studies on CLBP in older adults. Clinical acupuncture experts in the American Traditional Chinese Medicine Association(ATCMA) were interested in the recent grant on CLBP research announced by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. The ATCMA experts held an online discussion on the subject of real-world acupuncture treatments for CLBP in older adults. Seven participants, each with more than 20 years of acupuncture practice, discussed their own unique clinical experience while another participant talked about the potential mechanism of acupuncture in pain management. As a result of the discussion, a picture of a similar treatment strategy emerged across the participants for CLBP in older adults. This discussion shows that acupuncture may have complicated mechanisms in pain management, yet it is effective for the treatment of chronic pain involving maladaptive neuroplasticity;therefore, it should be effective for CLBP in older adults.展开更多

It indicates that there exist notable differences among the computed results, which mainly originate from the limited experimental conditions and different analytical methods, even though the major tendency keeps similar. 文摘Based on researches made by the author in recent years, discussion is made of the quasi-40-day oscillation (QDO) nature and its characteristic propagation, with emphasis on the Southern Hemisphere mill-latitude quasi-periodic cold air forcing on the tropical atmosphere quasi-40-day oscillation along with its effect upon the Northern Hemisphere summer monsoon. It is proposed that the interaction between, or lateral coupling of, meridional circulation systems may serve as the mechanism of the oscillation propagation in a meridional direction.
文摘Fifteen formulae of wave transmission coefficient for submerged breakwaters obtained during last 3 decades are presented, compared, and analyzed in this paper. The dimensionless parameters mainly involved in this discussion are the relative submerged depth Re/h, relative wave height Rc/Hi, relative rubble size B/D50, relative breakwater width B√ HiL0 and wave breaker index ξ. It indicates that there exist notable differences among the computed results, which mainly originate from the limited experimental conditions and different analytical methods, even though the major tendency keeps similar. It is necessary to conduct more systematic studies to obtain better understanding about the mechanism of wave transmission over submerged breakwaters.

文摘In view of the planning practices of Hexi Village,Chini Town,Huadu District,Guangzhou City,general situation of the village was introduced,"ecological, convenient,high-efficiency,sharable"were taken as principles for the village planning.The village planning was elaborated from 4 perspectives:coordination between town planning and village planning,comprehensive village planning,renovation of old village,construction planning of new village.The implementation projects were summarized to discuss village planning.And it was proposed that the village planning should use construction land intensively and demonstrate regional characteristics.
