Test results show that diagonal cracks control the failure pattern and damage occurs mainly in the RC section with weak shear capacity in the transfer columns. There is a large difference in the bearing capacity and ductility of the transfer columns according to the test results, which indicates that the strengthening effect of diverse structural measures is quite different. The section ratio of I-section-encased steel and the axial compression ratio also have a great influence on the bearing capacity and ductility. Although the bearing capacity of transfer columns with additional longitudinal bars and additional X bars is relatively large, they have poor deformation capacity. Setting more stirrups along the columns is the best structural measure to enhance the seismic performance. The studs on the I-sectionencased steel by welding can help to complete the stress transfer between the steel and concrete, and avoid performance degradation of the two materials due to bonding failure.展开更多

The original column specimen was designed to comply with older(pre-19...An original reinforced concrete(RC) column and four strengthened specimens, two with RC jackets and two with wing walls, were tested in this study. The original column specimen was designed to comply with older(pre-1999) design standards so that the usual detailing defi ciencies in existing school buildings in Taiwan could be simulated. Two different structural details were chosen to fabricate the full-scale specimens for each retrofi tting technique. The study confi rmed that either RC jacketing or the installation of wing walls with two different structural details can effectively improve the stiffness and strength of an existing column. RC jacketing shows a better improvement in energy dissipation and ductility when compared to the columns with wing walls installed. This is because the two RC jacketed columns experienced a fl exural failure, while a shear failure was found in the two columns with the wing walls installed, and thus led to a drastic decrease of the maximum lateral strengths and ductility. Since many factors may affect the installation of a post-installed anchor, it is better to use standard hooks to replace post-installed anchors in some specifi c points when using RC jacketing or installing wing walls.展开更多
To study the fatigue performance of welded details in the orthotropic steel decks,the steel box girder for Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge is taken as the research object.Based on the field monitoring data obtained from ...To study the fatigue performance of welded details in the orthotropic steel decks,the steel box girder for Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge is taken as the research object.Based on the field monitoring data obtained from the load test,the stress response test of the orthotropic steel box girder under wheel loads is performed and the correctness of the vehicle test data obtained from the field monitoring data also have been verified by the numerical results of the finite element model.Based on the Miner linear cumulative damage theory,the S-N curve of the Eurocode3 specification is referenced,and the fatigue life calculation formula of the welded details is determined according to the actual structural features.The fatigue life evaluation of the four typical welded details is obtained.The results indicate that:The load test data is compared and verified by the numerical result of finite element model.The local effect of stress distribution is remarkable.The stress measurement points on the four typical welded details are mainly based on low amplitude stress cycles.Most of the stress ranges are 2-10 MPa,among which the stress range of the welded details at the U-rib butt joint is larger.The fatigue life of welded details in the 14 mm thick top plate is smaller than that of the 16 mm thick top plate corresponding to the fatigue life of the welded details.The rib-to-rib butt welded joints and the openings of the diaphragms were prone to fatigue failure.Among them,the welding details of the 14 mm thick U-rib butt joints first appeared fatigue failure.The arrangement of the diaphragm can effectively increase the fatigue life of the top-U rib weld and improve the fatigue performance at this detail.展开更多

For accurate and stable haptic rendering, collision detection for interactive haptic applications has to be done by filling in or covering target objects as tightly as possible with bounding volumes (spheres, axis-al...For accurate and stable haptic rendering, collision detection for interactive haptic applications has to be done by filling in or covering target objects as tightly as possible with bounding volumes (spheres, axis-aligned bounding boxes, oriented bounding boxes, or polytopes). In this paper, we propose a method for creating bounding spheres with respect to the contact levels of details (CLOD), which can fit objects while maintaining the balance between high speed and precision of collision detection. Our method is composed mainly of two parts: bounding sphere formation and two-level collision detection. To specify further, bounding sphere formation can be divided into two steps: creating spheres and clustering spheres. Two-level collision detection has two stages as well: fast detection of spheres and precise detection in spheres. First, bounding spheres are created for initial fast probing to detect collisions of spheres. Once a collision is probed, a more precise detection is executed by examining the distance between a haptie pointer and each mesh inside the colliding boundaries. To achieve this refmed level of detection, a special data structure of a bounding volume needs to be defined to include all mesh information in the sphere. After performing a number of experiments to examine the usefulness and performance of our method, we have concluded that our algorithm is fast and precise enough for haptic simulations. The high speed detection is achieved through the clustering of spheres, while detection precision is realized by voxel-based direct collision detection. Our method retains its originality through the CLOD by distance-based clustering.展开更多

High-resolution lens-coupled indirect X-ray scintillator imagers are required by many imaging applications.However,the severe weakening of image details prevents its further performance improvement.Through our researc...High-resolution lens-coupled indirect X-ray scintillator imagers are required by many imaging applications.However,the severe weakening of image details prevents its further performance improvement.Through our research,this image degradation is attributed to the broadband loss of the high-spatial-frequency information caused by the high refractive index.A technique known as high-spatial-frequency spectrum enhanced reconstruction is thus proposed to retrieve this information.A two-dimensional high-density array is covered on the scintillator’s exit surface and operates as an encoder based on which high-frequency information can be shifted to the low-frequency region to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.The experimental results show that the middle-high-frequency signal intensities can be increased by an order of magnitude or more,up to^50 times.Therefore,the image details can be effectively enhanced to break through the performance bottleneck of such widely used X-ray imagers for synchrotron radiation facilities or tabletop X-ray tubes.展开更多

文摘Osteoblasts are essential in the maintenance of human bone homeostasis.1 The abnormal formation and impaired differentiation ability of osteoblasts are pivotal factors leading to bone-related diseases,suggesting that an indepth study of osteoblasts can provide novel treatment strategies for these diseases.2 Human primary osteoblasts are precious experimental models in bone-related research.3 However,the isolation and culture of human primary osteoblasts still have some difficulties and limitations.Here,we refined a method to isolate and culture human primary osteoblasts by taking cancellous bone through a bone tissue sampler and pre-digesting it with pancreatin,which makes the process easier,cheaper,and more efficient.Furthermore,we compared the effects of the subtle changes in isolation and culture methods on the phenotype of human primary osteoblasts and examined the differences in morphology,proliferation,and differentiation between micro-explants cultured osteoblasts(MECOBs)and explants cultured osteoblasts(EC-OBs).

文摘High-resolution lens-coupled indirect X-ray scintillator imagers are required by many imaging applications.However,the severe weakening of image details prevents its further performance improvement.Through our research,this image degradation is attributed to the broadband loss of the high-spatial-frequency information caused by the high refractive index.A technique known as high-spatial-frequency spectrum enhanced reconstruction is thus proposed to retrieve this information.A two-dimensional high-density array is covered on the scintillator’s exit surface and operates as an encoder based on which high-frequency information can be shifted to the low-frequency region to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.The experimental results show that the middle-high-frequency signal intensities can be increased by an order of magnitude or more,up to^50 times.Therefore,the image details can be effectively enhanced to break through the performance bottleneck of such widely used X-ray imagers for synchrotron radiation facilities or tabletop X-ray tubes.

文摘As machine learning(ML)continues to advance in the field of materials science,the variation in strategies for the same steps of the ML workflow becomes increasingly significant.These details can have a substantial impact on results,yet they have not received the deserved attention.This review aims to explore the various strategies available for each detail within the general workflow of materials ML.Firstly,the general workflow of materials ML will be introduced to help readers gain an understanding of potential details.Subsequently,different strategies of details within each step of the workflow will be presented through state-of-the-art case studies.The potential outcomes associated with choosing different strategies to details will be explored.Following this,suitable strategies for details will be recommended based on distinct application scenarios.Finally,directions for the future development of materials ML concerning details will be proposed.Through these discussions,we aspire to offer a comprehensive understanding of the nuances in details within materials ML.This will serve as valuable reference and guidance for researchers in both materials science and ML.
