The objective of the study is to examine the moderating influence of gender on the relationship between cultural values and Islamic work ethics(IWE)among Palestinian Arab high school teachers in Israel who represent a...The objective of the study is to examine the moderating influence of gender on the relationship between cultural values and Islamic work ethics(IWE)among Palestinian Arab high school teachers in Israel who represent an ethnic and religious minority within a Western-oriented framework.The study sample comprised 1,245 Arab teachers(759 females and 476 males).Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling with AMOS,focusing on path analysis.The research findings highlight a substantial relationship between cultural values and Islamic work ethics,with gender as a moderating variable.Additionally,the results indicate a significant positive relationship between the cultural value dimension of uncertainty avoidance and both dimensions of Islamic work ethics-dedication and social responsibility in the workplace,along with independence,diligence,and achievement.In contrast,a pronounced and significant negative relationship was identified between the cultural dimension of femininity/masculinity and these two dimensions of Islamic work ethics.展开更多

This study examines how demographic factors shape engagement with virtual cultural communities and awareness of emerging economic models.Using survey data from 202 participants,descriptive statistics,independent sampl...This study examines how demographic factors shape engagement with virtual cultural communities and awareness of emerging economic models.Using survey data from 202 participants,descriptive statistics,independent samples t-tests,and One-way Analysis of Variance(ANOVA)with Least Significant Difference(LSD)post-hoc analyses revealed significant influences of age,education,and occupation.No significant gender differences were found.Individuals aged 26-45 demonstrated higher virtual community participation(F=3.439,p=0.01)and emerging model awareness(F=2.834,p=0.026)than younger cohorts(18-25 years and below).Respondents with postgraduate education exhibited superior understanding of emerging economic models(F=3.296,p=0.022)and their nexus with cultural values(F=6.196,p<0.001)compared to those with lower educational attainment.Significant occupational variations existed in virtual participation(F=4.001,p=0.008)and economic model awareness(F=5.611,p=0.001),with enterprise employees and civil servants scoring higher than students and freelancers.These findings underscore the critical roles of life stage,educational investment,and professional context in shaping digital cultural behaviors and economic cognition,offering valuable insights for platform design,educational strategies,and policy development in the digital cultural economy.展开更多

Her first novel, The Country Girls （1960）, was an immediate success. Her writing is lyrical and intense with passions and aspirations. Set in Britain, the short story Cord describes a story about how the mother and the daughter got along in the short reunion after a long separation. The paper mainly explores different religious values, cultural values, and social values between them which caused irreconcilable conflicts. The present paper concludes that the ＂Cord＂, the blood tie, can never get rid of the spiritual barrier. Only mutual understanding can eliminate the gap and acquire a harmonious relation between parents and children.展开更多
This paper takes a cursory look at the conceptual framework of what cultural imperialism entails with particular study of its socio-political consequences in contemporary Nigerian society, and a closer look at the tra...This paper takes a cursory look at the conceptual framework of what cultural imperialism entails with particular study of its socio-political consequences in contemporary Nigerian society, and a closer look at the transportation and importation of western cultural values and the implantation of same in Nigeria thereby almost completely eclipsing the hitherto African cultural conservatism of the Nigerian state. Clear examples of this cultural transplant are given in this work, including but not limited to the use of English language in place of the indigenous languages for communication even when there are no foreigners, smoking of cigarettes, ladies putting on trousers, abortions as a means of birth control, free premarital and extramarital sexual relationships, and homosexuality and gay practices. These which were viewed as an anathema to Nigeria＇s cultural values have supplanted the traditional conservatism of the Nigerian people. This work particularly looks at Chimamanda Adichie＇s Purple Hibiscus and distills classical cases of cultural imperialism. Adichie through the character Eugene, captures cultural imperialism as seen in the life of this vastly brainwashed ＂been-to＂ who is clearly portrayed as an imperial lackey, capitalist, and apologist. Also, the character of Rev. Father Benedict, a Briton, who often found any indigenous songs in St. Agnes Parish was quite offensive. The work also captures cultural imperialism in the ironical contempt with which the catholic devotee, Eugene, treats his own father, Papa Nnukwu, steeped in the traditional African cultural values, and Eugene viewes him as Godlessness. The essay concludes by identifying the cultural crises that cultural imperialism creates in the Nigerian state, and recommends ways of diluting and diffusing the present cultural imperialism as a solution to the myriad of socio-political crises currently experienced by the Nigerian society.展开更多
