Methods: Forty-two Authentic? crowns were fabricated and cemented onto extracted human teeth using 7 currently available cements (2 two-stage adhesives (TE + DBA): Panavia 21 Kuraray;Paracore, Coltene Whaledent and 5 all-in-one adhesives (SE): MaxCem Kerr;Panavia F2.0 Kuraray;RelyX Unicem 3MEspe;seT SDI). Following storage in water and thermal cycling, the teeth were exposed to dye, sectioned and examined under confocal microscopy. Leakage was determined by two blinded examiners and scoring was carried out on a scale of 0 - 8 per tooth (0 = no leakage, 8 complete leakage across the section). One overall reading was obtained per tooth with 6 teeth per material. Results: The results showed a wide range of scores between the different cements. Only a few specimens which used TE + DBA showed slight marginal leakage: Paracore (mean score 0 ± 0) and Panavia 21 (0.3 ± 0.5). The majority of specimens using SE showed leakage: RelyX Unicem (0.8 ± 0.8), SmartCem (1.7 ± 2.1), MaxCem (3.2 ± 1.7), Panavia F2.0 (4.5 ± 2.4) then seT (5.2 ± 2.5). Statistical analysis was carried out showing that Paracore and Panavia 21 were significantly less prone to leakage than MaxCem, (P = 0.002) and seT (P < 0.001). Conclusion: In conclusion, the choice of luting cement is important in reducing dye leakage. This study strongly favours the use of a TE with separate adhesive system placed prior to the composite luting resin.展开更多

Luotian(herein, Luotian), a natural variety of C. lanceolata(Chinese-fir, herein Lanceolata) in China, were analyzed using trunk and branch measurements and biomass determinations. Samples from two typical cultivated varietal populations were collected, including twenty-six 15–23-year-old trees of Luotian from a plantation, and nine 16–23-year-old trees of Lanceolata. Our results show that Luotian and Lanceolata samples differed significantly in crown structure, morphological indices, and biomass:(1) the oldest live branches on Luotian trees were 5–6 years old and 8–11 years old on Lanceolata. The ages of the live branches were not affected by the ages of the Luotian trees, while live branch ages increased with ages of Lanceolata trees;(2) the maximumbranching order of Luotian was level two. Compared to Lanceolata, the average number of first-order lateral branches(i.e., branches emerging from the trunk) and the number of first-order lateral branch whorls per sample tree were 12.9% and 32.2% lower, respectively, in Luotian. However, the average number of branches within a single whorl was 21.8% greater in Luotian;the average number of branch whorls at crown height was 51.1% greater. Thus, the Luotian variety has thicker branches;(3) the average lateral branch angles in Luotian and Lanceolata sample trees were 105.2° and 61.4°, respectively. The branch angles in 53.0% of lateral branches on Luotian ranged from105° to 135°, but 30° to 90° in 96% of the lateral branches on Lanceolata. Within the same crown layer, the average branch angle was 1.6–2.2 times greater in Luotian, and the angle was directly proportional to crown thickness;(4) the average base diameter and branch length on Luotian were1.3 cm and 75.8 cm, respectively, and 1.6 cm and112.2 cm for Lanceolata. For individual trees, branch growth differed significantly(p < 0.01) between Luotian and Lanceolata. However, the lateral branches grew at a similar rate among Luotian trees of different ages;(5) the average height to the lowest live branch on Luotian was128.3% greater than on Lanceolata, resulting in a significant difference(p < 0.01) in crown size. Compared to the crowns on Lanceolata, the Luotian crowns were 45.3%higher and 41.1% wider, and the surface area, volume, and growth of the crown were 27.0%, 11.4%, and 2.4 times greater than for Lanceolata, respectively;and,(6) the biomass of Luotian and Lanceolata sample trees also differed significantly. The mean crown, branch, and leaf biomass for Luotian was 40.0%, 25.2%, and 54.1% of those for Lanceolata, respectively. However, the leaf biomass in each layer of the Luotian crown was higher thanthat of Lanceolata, and leaf biomass increased with crown thickness.展开更多

A 72-year-old woman presented to our hospital with unesthetic restorations on the right upper and lower posterior teeth. Intraoral examination revealed poorly fitting metal crown margins. Defective prostheses were removed, and provisional restorations were provided to stabilize the mandibular position. Optical impressions and the maxillomandibular relationship were recorded using an intraoral scanner, and monolithic zirconia crowns were fabricated using CAD/CAM technology for complete veneer crown restorative treatment. Occlusal examination revealed an improvement in occlusal force distribution at initial examination (right side: 33.5%, left side: 66.5%) after placement of the zirconia crowns (right side: 54.9%, left side: 45.1%). Occlusal force and occlusal force distribution area also showed an increasing trend. The Oral Health Impact Profile short form (OHIP-14) score decreased from 7 points at initial examination to 0 points after prosthodontic treatment. Appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning contributed to the increased occlusal force and balanced occlusal force distribution. Therefore, the present case indicates the potential of monolithic zirconia crowns to achieve both esthetic and stable functional outcomes.展开更多

However, in some cases, clinicians have to consider combining a full ceramic crown with a metal post core. Therefore, this experiment was conducted to test the esthetical possibility of applying cast metal post core in a full ceramic crown restoration. Methods The color of full ceramic crowns on gold and Nickel-Chrome post cores was compared with the color of the same crowns on tooth colored post cores. Different try-in pastes were used to imitate the influence of a composite cementation on the color of different restorative combinations. The majority of patients could not detect any color difference less than △E 1.8 between the two ceramic samples. So, △E 1.8 was taken as the objective evaluative criterion for the evaluation of color matching and patients' satisfaction. Results When the Empress 2 crown was combined with the gold alloy post core, the color of the resulting material was similar to that of a glass fiber reinforced resin post core (△E = 0.3). The gold alloy post core and the try-in paste did not show a perceptible color change in the full ceramic crowns, which indicated that the color of the crowns might not be susceptible to change between lab and clinic as well as during the process of composite cementation. Without an opaque covering the Ni-Cr post core would cause an unacceptable color effect on the crown (△E = 2.0), but with opaque covering, the color effect became more clinically satisfactory (△E = 1.8). Conclusions It may be possible to apply a gold alloy post core in the Empress 2 full ceramic crown restoration when necessary. If a non-extractible Ni-Cr post core exists in the root canal, it might be possible to restore the tooth with an Empress 2 crown after covering the labial surface of the core with one layer of opaque resin cement.展开更多

文摘This paper introduces a new method of calculating crown projection area(CPA),the area of level ground covered by a vertical projection of a tree crown from measured crown radii through numerical interpolation and integration. This novel method and other four existing methods of calculating CPA were compared using detailed crown radius measurements from 30 tall trees of Eucalyptus pilularis variable in crown size, shape, and asymmetry. The four existing methods included the polygonal approach and three ways of calculating CPA as the area of a circle using the arithmetic, geometric and quadratic mean radius.Comparisons were made across a sequence of eight non-consecutive numbers(from 2 to 16)of measured crown radii for each tree over the range of crown asymmetry of the 30 trees through generalized linear models and multiple comparisons of means. The sequence covered the range of the number of crown radii measured for calculating the CPA of a tree in the literature.A crown asymmetry index within the unit interval was calculated for each tree to serve as a normative measure. With a slight overestimation of 2.2%on average and an overall mean error size of 7.9%across the numbers of crown radii that were compared, our new method was the least biased and most accurate.Calculating CPA as a circle using the quadratic mean crown radius was the second best, which had an average overestimation of 4.5%and overall mean error size of 8.8%.These two methods remained by and large unbiased as crown asymmetry increased, while the other three methods showed larger bias of underestimation. For the conventional method of using the arithmetic mean crown radius to calculate CPA as a circle, bias correction factors were developed as a function of crown asymmetry index to delineate the increasing magnitude of bias associated with greater degrees of crown asymmetry. This study reveals and demonstrates such relationships between the accuracy of CPA calculations and crown asymmetry and will help increase awareness among researchers and practitioners on the existence of bias in their CPA calculations and for the need to use an unbiased method in the future. Our new method is recommended for calculating CPA where at least four crown radius measurements per tree are available because that is the minimum number required for its use.

文摘The structural characteristics of the tree crowns of Cunninghamia lanceolata var. However, the leaf biomass in each layer of the Luotian crown was higher thanthat of Lanceolata, and leaf biomass increased with crown thickness.
文摘Advances in metal-free materials and the popularization of Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) have led to the wide clinical use of all-ceramic crowns for esthetic restorations. Therefore, the present case indicates the potential of monolithic zirconia crowns to achieve both esthetic and stable functional outcomes.

文摘In this work,we present a digital light processing(DLP)-flashing-based functionally graded additive manufacturing(FGAM)process for fabricating highly aesthetic zirconia(ZrO_(2))dental crowns with simultaneous color and translucency gradation.Color gradation was achieved by controlled iron oxide(Fe2O3)doping(ranged from 0.0 to 0.10 wt%)in zirconia powders, whereas translucency gradation was simultaneously attained by controlling the isotropic cubic phase(c-ZrO_(2))in the sintered crowns using three different grades of yttria-stabilized ZrO_(2)(3,4,and 5 mol%yttria-stabilized ZrO_(2)powders,i.e.,3YSZ,4YSZ,and 5YSZ,respectively).The crowns were printed through flashing illumination:0.2 s flash time and 1 s off-time between consecutive ultraviolet(UV)flashes to overcome the scattering-induced overcuring associated to continuous printing that degraded the structural accuracy of the design and posed post-processing challenges and property deterioration.International Commision on Illumination’s Lab(CIELAB)color assessments indicated successful coloring indices(L^(*),a^(*),and b^(*)values)matching the graded appearance of natural teeth.Mechanical properties and sintering shrinkage were slightly affected by the Fe_(2)O_(3)and yttria contents of the various compositions. The highest translucency parameter(above 20)was possible with an undoped 5YSZ composition at the top part(incisor)of the crown. The processing challenges during FGAM of ceramic materials were successfully overcome through a flashing mechanism, and the color and translucency gradation of the ZrO_(2)dental crown was simultaneously maintained with enhanced printing precision, which is a potential breakthrough advancement in esthetic dentistry.

文摘Forest data acquisition, which is of crucial importance for modeling global biogeochemical cycles and climate, makes a contribution to building the ecological Digital Earth(DE).Due to the complex calculations and large volumes of data associated with high-resolution images of large areas, accurate and effective extraction of individual tree crowns remains challenging. In this study, two GeoEye-1 panchromatic images of Beihai and Ningbo in China with areas of 5 and 25 km2,respectively,were used as experimental data to establish a novel method for the automatic extraction of individual tree crowns based on a self-adaptive mutual information(SMI)algorithm and tile computing technology(SMI-TCT).To evaluate the performance of the algorithm, four commonly used algorithms were also applied to extract the individual tree crowns. The overall accuracy of the proposed method for the two experimental areas was superior to that of the four other algorithms, with maximum extraction accuracies of 85.7%and 63.8%.Moreover,the results also indicated that the novel method was suitable for individual tree crowns extraction in sizeable areas because of the multithread parallel computing technology.

文摘Tree plantations are globally significant, and therefore,growth-related challenges cannot be ignored.Canopy structure and light environment influence the growth of plantations, but the precise relationship remains unclear. We selected seven-year-old poplar plantations of varying cultivars planted various densities and measured their growth, canopy structure, and light environment. The findings indicate that poplar plantations of different cultivars and at different planting densities showed variations in leaf area index(LAI),average leaf angle(ALA),crown length(CL),length ratio(CLR),roundness(CR)and surface area(CSA),which directly or indirectly affect growth, resulting in disparities in their growing conditions.Crown roundness directly impacted growth, while LAI,CLR and ALA influenced growth indirectly by affecting intercellular carbon dioxide concentration.LAI and CLR had a positive effect;ALA had a negative one.Crown length and surface area directly and indirectly influenced growth by affecting photo synthetically active radiation and net photo synthetic rate, with direct impacts being more pronounced. This research has clarified the regulatory role of canopy structure in plantations growth, providing valuable insights for developing more effective management strategies.

文摘Allometric equations are fundamental tools in ecological research and forestry management, widely used for estimating above-ground biomass and production, serving as the core foundations of dynamic vegetation models.Using global datasets from Tallo(a tree allometry and crown architecture database encompassing thousands of species)and TRY(a plant traits database),we fit B ayesian hierarchical models with three alternative functional forms(powerlaw, generalized Michaelis-Menten(gMM),and Weibull)to characterize how diameter at breast height(DBH),tree height(H),and crown radius(CR)scale with and without wood density as a species-level predictor. Our analysis revealed that the saturating Weibull function best captured the relationship between tree height and DBH in both functional groups, whereas the CR-DBH relationship was best predicted by a power-law function in angiosperms and by the gMM function in gymnosperms.Although including wood density did not significantly improve predictive performance,it revealed important ecological trade-offs:lighter-wood angiosperms achieve taller mature heights more rapidly, and denser wood promotes wider crown expansion across clades. We also found that accurately estimating DBH required considering both height and crown size, highlighting how these variables together distinguish trees of similar height but differing trunk diameters. Our results emphasize the importance of applying saturating functions for large trees to improve forest biomass estimates and show that wood density, though not always predictive at broad scales, helps illuminate the biomechanical and ecological constraints underlying diverse tree architectures. These findings offer practical pathways for integrating height-and crown-based metrics into existing carbon monitoring programs worldwide.
文摘Background For esthetic consideration, dentin color post core materials were normally used for all-ceramic crown restorations. If a non-extractible Ni-Cr post core exists in the root canal, it might be possible to restore the tooth with an Empress 2 crown after covering the labial surface of the core with one layer of opaque resin cement.

文摘Unprecedented synthesis of chiral (aza)crown ethers of calix[4]arene derivatives bearing a carboxyl amide bridge was described. The synthesis proceeds through condensation of the corresponding dinitriles with optically active 1,2-aminoalcohols, and is catalyzed by the ZnCl2 Lewis acid at elevated temperature in a very efficient one-pot process. The cavity of calix[4](aza)crowns can encapsulate methanol molecules by O-H⋯п interaction, which has been confirmed by X-ray crystal structures and ESI-MS.

文摘Curvedπ-electron systems show unique properties and assembly feature that enable the specific applications in materials science and supramolecular chemistry.Herein, fullerene, carbon nanohoop andπ-bowl are integrated by the coupling of covalent and supramolecular tactics.Firstly,π-bowl trichalcogenasumanenes(TCSs)are fused with a carbon nanohoop[10]CPP via covalent joint to form molecular crowns 4a/4b,which show structural and electronic complementarity and accordingly strong binding affinity to C_(60)/C_(70).Secondly,the supramolecular assemblies of 4a/4b with fullerenes afford the host-vip complexes 4a/4b⊃C_(60)/C_(70) in solution(molar ratio,2:1)and solid state(molar ratio,1:1).In the crystals of host–vip complexes, the intra-cluster and inter-cluster interactions are respectively dominated by the[10]CPP and TCSs moieties of 4a/4b.Additionally,it is found that 4a/4b are good photosensitizers for generating ^(1)O_(2) and show structural adaptability in accordance to assembly conditions.4a/4b take an endo-conformation in their own crystals with TCSs and[10]CPP moieties being bowl-shaped and elliptical, respectively. In contrast,the[10]CPP on 4a/4b changes into circular and the TCSs moiety becomes flat(for 4b)or shows bowl inversion to be exo-conformation(for 4a)in 4a/4b⊃C_(60)/C_(70).

文摘Calix[4] (aza) crowns containing amide groups 3a—d were synthesized by the reactions of calix[4]arene (la) or p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene (1b) with N, N′-ethylenebis(2-chloroacetamide) (2a) or N, N′- 1,2-ethylenebis (2-chloroacetamide) (2b) by one step procedure in yields of 85—-90%. Calix[4]-(aza) crowns 4a—b could be obtained by the reduction of 3a—b with LiAlH4 in yields of 51 and 67%, respectively. The nitration of 3a or 3c afforded new chromogenic calix[4]arenes 5a bearing two nitrophenol moieties and 5c bearing one nitro-phenol and one quinone moiety, respectively. The ipso-nitration's of 3b and 3d were also studied. Both gave the products containing one nitro phenol and one quinine moiety. Moreover, a very interesting calix[4]arene derivative 5d containing one cyclohexadienone moiety was also separated as the main product when 3d was ipso-nitrated.

文摘Accurate crown control is paramount for ensuring the quality of hot-rolled strip products.Given the multitude of influencing parameters and the intricate coupling and genetic relationships among them, the conventional crown control method is no longer sufficient to meet the precision requirements of schedule-free rolling. To address this limitation,an optimization framework for hot-rolled strip crown control was developed based on model-driven digital twin(MDDT).This framework enhances the strip crown control precision by facilitating collaborative operations among physical entities, virtual models, and functional application layers. In virtual modeling,a data-driven approach that integrates the extreme gradient boosting and the improved Harris hawk optimization algorithm was firstly proposed to fit the relationship between key process parameters and strip crown, and a global-local collaborative training strategy was proposed to enhance the model adaptability to diverse working conditions.Subsequently, the influence of crucial process factors on the virtual model was examined through model responses.Furthermore,a novel optimization mode for crown control based on MDDT was established by aligning and reconstructing both the physical and virtual models, thereby enhancing the crown control precision. Finally, data trials were conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. The results indicated that the proposed method exhibited satisfactory performance and could be effectively utilized to improve the crown control precision.
