A cactus is a connected graph in which every block is either an edge or a cycle. In this paper, we give an algorithm to find an optimal edge- ??coloring of a cactus in polynomial time. BACKGROUND Drug utilization research has an important role in assisting the healthcare administration to know,compute,and refine the prescription whose principal objective is to enable the rational use of drugs.Research in developing nations relating to the cost of treatment is scarce when compared with developed countries.Thus,the drug utilization research studies from developing nations are most needed,and their number has been growing.AIM To evaluate patterns of utilization of antipsychotic drugs and direct medical cost analysis in patients newly diagnosed with schizophrenia.METHODS The present study was observational in type and based on a retrospective cohort to evaluate patterns of utilization of antipsychotic drugs using World Health Organization(WHO)core prescribing indicators and anatomical therapeutic chemical/defined daily dose indicators.We also calculated direct medical costs for a period of 6 months.RESULTS This study has found that atypical antipsychotics are the mainstay of treatment for schizophrenia in every age group and subcategories of schizophrenia.The evaluation based on WHO prescribing indicators showed a low average number of drugs per prescription and low prescribing frequency of antipsychotics from the National List of Essential Medicines 2015 and the WHO Essential Medicines List 2019.The total mean drug cost of our study was 1396 Indian rupees.The total mean cost due to the investigation in our study was 1017.34 Indian rupees.Therefore,the total mean direct medical cost incurred on patients in our study was 4337.28 Indian rupees.CONCLUSION The information from the present study can be used for reviewing and updating treatment policy at the institutional level. 展开更多

The P2-type Fe/Mn-based layered oxides,with cost advantages and high theoretical capacity,are considered one of the promising cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).However,the commercial development of these materials is impeded by two main factors:the MnO_(6) structure distortion induced by the Jahn-Teller(J-T)effect of Mn^(3+),and the unfavorable phase transitions that occur during the insertion and extraction of Na^(+).Here,we present a strategy to improve structural stability by incorporating cost-effective,robust Al-O bonds.This approach induces localized adjustments in the electronic structu re and a pinning effect,which limits the deformation of the transition metal(TM)layers,strengthens the electrostatic bonding within the TM layers,and expands the Na layer spacing.Consequently,the Na_(0.67)Fe_(0.4)Mn_(0.54)Al_(0.06)O_(2) cathode demonstrates a capacity of 168.8 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C,maintaining89.2%of its original capacity after 200 cycles at 1 C.Through in situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)with dynamic resistance transformation(DRT)analysis,ex situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS),and in situ X-ray diffraction(XRD),the study demonstrates a reduction in the J-T effect,enhanced kinetic performance,and the inhibition of detrimental phase transitions.This study offers new avenues to the development and design of future low-cost Fe/Mn-based cathodes. 展开更多

Physical Activity or Organized Sport, Which Is Better for Depression? A Perspective on Attributable Healthcare Costs in Chinese Children and Adolescents

Background:Depression is a growing public health concern among Chinese children and adolescents,with substantial healthcare costs.Physical activity(PA)and organized sport are modifiable behaviours protective against depression.This study,therefore,estimated the healthcare costs of depression attributable to insufficient PA and organized sport participation.Methods:A cost-of-illness approach with population attributable fraction(PAF)was applied.Relative risks were derived from longitudinal evidence,prevalence estimates from national Chinese surveys,and depression case numbers from the Global Burden of Disease 2021.Direct healthcare costs were extrapolated from European Union estimates,adjusted to 2024 US dollars(USD),and Chinese expenditure.Sex-stratified analyses were conducted.Results:Estimated depression-related healthcare costs attributable to insufficient PA were approximately 81 million USD,compared with around 84 million USD attributable to insufficient organized sport participation.At the population level,the economic burden attributable to insufficient PA and organized sport was of a similar order of magnitude.Among boys,costs attributable to insufficient organized sport participation(approximately 57 million USD)exceeded those attributable to insufficient PA(around 39 million USD),whereas among girls,costs attributable to insufficient PA(approximately 42 million USD)were higher than those related to organized sport(around 27 million USD).These sex-specific patterns were consistent across sensitivity analyses examining uncertainty in key model parameters.Conclusions:Both insufficient PA and organized sport contribute substantially to depression-related healthcare costs,with sex-specific differences.Policies should prioritise promoting overall PA in girls and organized sport in boys to reduce depression burden and associated expenditures.The magnitude of these attributable costs indicates an economically meaningful burden that is potentially modifiable through behavioural interventions. 展开更多

党的二十大报告指出,要促进优质医疗资源扩容和区域均衡布局。同时,优化首都医疗资源布局也是缓解首都“大城市病”的重要手段。本文基于多循环Acc-Cost模型构建“现状评估-情景模拟-点位优化-格局刻画”的研究框架,对北京市现期医疗资... 党的二十大报告指出,要促进优质医疗资源扩容和区域均衡布局。同时,优化首都医疗资源布局也是缓解首都“大城市病”的重要手段。本文基于多循环Acc-Cost模型构建“现状评估-情景模拟-点位优化-格局刻画”的研究框架,对北京市现期医疗资源可达性展开评估,进而多情景分析未来新增医疗资源优化配置方案。研究结果表明:(1)北京市医疗设施可达性以中心城区为峰值点,向外逐级递减,呈现出典型的“中心城区-近郊区-远郊区”圈层式衰减规律。(2)不同情景下优化点位预测状况差异显著,需要研究制定差别化的优化策略。限制增长情景通过182次模型迭代求解出8处新增三甲医院最优点位和174处新增综合医院最优点位,自然趋势情景求解出13处新增三甲医院最优点位和232处新增综合医院最优点位,刺激增长情景求解出21处新增三甲医院最优点位和381处新增综合医院最优点位。(3)“限制增长”情景具有更高的代表性,能够更全面地将自然增长、人口疏解、规划引导等影响因素纳入模型中。在此情景下,模型具备较好的优化效果,可以通过5.6%的新增三甲医院和10.4%的新增综合医院覆盖99%以上医疗资源可达性较差的人群。(4)研究基于限制增长情景下新增医疗点位将北京市全域划分为资源平衡区、资源溢出区和重点优化区,提出北京市全域就医“底线”,打通全域就医“最后一公里”。研究为刻画现实中分级医疗资源优化配置格局提供了理论参考,也为进一步深化公共服务设施优化配置研究提供新的视角和方法。 展开更多

In China,electric vehicle(EV)fast-charging power has quadrupled in the past five years,progressing toward 10-minute ultrafast charging.This rapid increase raises concerns about the impact on the power grid including increased peak power demand and the need for substantial upgrades to power infrastruc-ture.Here,we introduce an integrated model to assess fast and ultrafast charging impacts for represen-tative charging stations in China,combining real-world charging patterns and detailed station optimization models.We find that larger stations with 12 or more chargers experience modest peak power increases of less than 30%when fast-charging power is doubled,primarily because shorter charg-ing sessions are less likely to overlap.For more typical stations(e.g.,8-9 chargers and 120 kW·charger^(−1)),upgrading chargers to 350-550 kW while allowing managed dynamic waiting strategies(of∼1 minute)can reduce overall charging times to∼9 minutes.At stations,deploying battery storage and/or expanding transformers can help manage future increases in station loads,yet the primary device cost of the former is∼4 times higher than that of the latter.Our results offer insights for charging infrastructure planning,EV-grid interactions,and associated policymaking. 展开更多

Ultra-low emission of nitrogen oxide(NO_(x))is an irreversible trend for the development of waste-to-energy industry.But traditional approaches to remove NO_(x) face significant challenge s,such as low denitration efficiency,complex denitration system,and high investment and operating cost.Here we put forward a novel polymer non-catalytic reduction(PNCR)technology that utilized a new type of polymer agent to remove NO_(x),and the proposed PNCR technology was applied to the existing waste-to-energy plant to test the denitration performance.The PNCR technology demonstrated excellent denitration performance with a NO_(x) emission concentration of<100 mg/Nm^(3) and high denitration efficiency of>75%at the temperature range of 800-900℃,which showed the application feasibility even on the complex and unstable industrial operating conditions.In addition,PNCR and hybrid polymer/selective non-catalytic reduction(PNCR/SNCR)technology possessed remarkable economic advantages including low investment fee and low operating cost of<10 CNY per ton of municipal solid waste(MSW)compared with selective catalytic reduction(SCR)technology.The excellent denitration performance of PNCR technology forebodes a broad industrial application prospect in the field of flue gas cleaning for waste-to-energy plants. 展开更多

Accuracy allocation is crucial in the accuracy design of machining tools.Current accuracy allocation methods primarily focus on positional deviation,with little consideration for tool direction deviation.To address this issue,we propose a geometric error cost sensitivity-based accuracy allocation method for five-axis machine tools.A geometric error model consisting of 4l error components is constructed based on homogeneous transformation matrices.Volumetric points with positional and tool direction deviations are randomly sampled to evaluate the accuracy of the machine tool.The sensitivity of each error component at these sampling points is analyzed using the Sobol method.To balance the needs of geometric precision and manufacturing cost,a geometric error cost sensitivity function is developed to estimate the required cost.By allocating error components affecting tool direction deviation first and the remaining components second,this allocation scheme ensures that both deviations meet the requirements.We also perform numerical simulation of a BC-type(B-axis and C-axis type)five-axis machine tool to validate the method.The results show that the new allocation scheme reduces the total geometric error cost by 27.8%compared to a uniform allocation scheme,and yields the same positional and tool direction machining accuracies. 展开更多

Nickel extraction from nickel laterites: Processes, resources, environment and cost 被引量:1

With the development of the new energy industry and the depletion of nickel sulfide ore resources,laterite nickel ore has become the main source of primary nickel,and nickel for power batteries has become a new growth point in consumption.This paper systematically summarizes the processes,parameters,products,recovery rates,environmental indicators,costs,advantages,disadvantages and the latest research progress of mainstream nickel extraction processes from laterite nickel ore.It also provides a comparative analysis of the environmental impact and economic efficiency of different nickel extraction processes.It is found that the current nickel extraction processes from laterite nickel ore globally for commercial production mainly include the RKEF process for producing ferronickel and the HPAL process for producing intermediate products.The former accounts for about 80%of laterite nickel ore production.Compared to each other,the investment cost per ton of nickel metal production capacity for the RKEF is about 43000$,with an operational cost of about 16000$per ton of nickel metal and a total nickel recovery rate of 77%–90%.Its products are mainly used in stainless steels.For the HPAL process,the investment cost per ton of nickel metal production capacity is about 56000$,with an operational cost of about 15000$per ton of nickel metal and a total nickel recovery rate of 83%–90%.Its products are mainly used in power batteries.The significant differences between the two lies in energy consumption and carbon emissions,with the RKEF being 2.18 and 2.37 times that of the HPAL,respectively.Although the use of clean energy can greatly reduce the operational cost and environmental impact of RKEF,if RKEF is converted to producing high Ni matte,its economic and environmental performance still cannot match that of the HPAL and oxygen-enriched side-blown processes.Therefore,it can be inferred that with the increasing demand for nickel in power batteries,HPAL and oxygen-enriched side blowing processes will play a greater role in laterite nickel extraction. 展开更多

Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the cost–effectiveness of durvalumab combined with tremelimumab versus sorafenib as the first-line treatment for advanced unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(uHCC)from the perspective of China’s healthcare system.Methods:Utilizing data from the HIMALAYA clinical trial,a partitioned survival model was developed to simulate clinical pathways,costs,and outcomes.Incremental cost‒effectiveness ratios(ICERs)were calculated through cost‒utility analysis,with robustness assessed via one-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses.Results:Total costs for the durvalumab‒tremelimumab regimen reached 152,729.04 USD(1.96 quality-adjusted life years,QALYs),whereas they reached 147,406.75 USD(1.48 QALYs)for sorafenib.The ICER of 11,027.79 USD per QALY remained substantially below China’s willingness-to-pay(WTP)threshold of 36,622.13 USD per QALY.Sensitivity analyses confirmed tremelimumab pricing and discount rates as primary determinants of cost‒effectiveness.Conclusion:Within China’s healthcare framework,durvalumab‒tremelimumab is cost effective as a first-line therapy for uHCC,contingent on formulary inclusion and price adjustments. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is strongly associated with an increased risk of thrombotic events,including severe outcomes such as pulmonary embolism.Elevated D-dimer levels are a critical biomarker for assessing this risk.In Gabon,early implementation of anticoagulation therapy and D-dimer testing has been crucial in managing COVID-19.This study hypothesizes that elevated Ddimer levels are linked to increased COVID-19 severity.AIM To determine the impact of D-dimer levels on COVID-19 severity and their role in guiding clinical decisions.METHODS This retrospective study analyzed COVID-19 patients admitted to two hospitals in Gabon between March 2020 and December 2023.The study included patients with confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses and available D-dimer measurements at admission.Data on demographics,clinical outcomes,D-dimer levels,and healthcare costs were collected.COVID-19 severity was classified as non-severe(outpatients)or severe(inpatients).A multivariable logistic regression model was used to assess the relationship between D-dimer levels and disease severity,with adjusted odds ratios(OR)and 95%CI.RESULTS A total of 3004 patients were included,with a mean age of 50.17 years,and the majority were female(53.43%).Elevated D-dimer levels were found in 65.81%of patients,and 57.21%of these experienced severe COVID-19.Univariate analysis showed that patients with elevated D-dimer levels had 3.33 times higher odds of severe COVID-19(OR=3.33,95%CI:2.84-3.92,P<0.001),and this association remained significant in the multivariable analysis,adjusted for age,sex,and year of collection.The financial analysis revealed a substantial burden,particularly for uninsured patients.CONCLUSION D-dimer predicts COVID-19 severity and guides treatment,but the high cost of anticoagulant therapy highlights the need for policies ensuring affordable access in resource-limited settings like Gabon. 展开更多

The ease of accessing a virtually unlimited pool of resources makes Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) clouds an ideal platform for running data-intensive workflow applications comprising hundreds of computational tasks. However, executing scientific workflows in IaaS cloud environments poses significant challenges due to conflicting objectives, such as minimizing execution time (makespan) and reducing resource utilization costs. This study responds to the increasing need for efficient and adaptable optimization solutions in dynamic and complex environments, which are critical for meeting the evolving demands of modern users and applications. This study presents an innovative multi-objective approach for scheduling scientific workflows in IaaS cloud environments. The proposed algorithm, MOS-MWMC, aims to minimize total execution time (makespan) and resource utilization costs by leveraging key features of virtual machine instances, such as a high number of cores and fast local SSD storage. By integrating realistic simulations based on the WRENCH framework, the method effectively dimensions the cloud infrastructure and optimizes resource usage. Experimental results highlight the superiority of MOS-MWMC compared to benchmark algorithms HEFT and Max-Min. The Pareto fronts obtained for the CyberShake, Epigenomics, and Montage workflows demonstrate closer proximity to the optimal front, confirming the algorithm’s ability to balance conflicting objectives. This study contributes to optimizing scientific workflows in complex environments by providing solutions tailored to specific user needs while minimizing costs and execution times. 展开更多
