The ice and snow theme, with its unique transparent texture, diffuse light reflection, and delicate surface quality, presents a core challenge in copperplate engraving. This paper focuses on the intaglio mezzotint technique, employing comparative experiments, precise optical density measurement, image grayscale analysis, and expert visual scoring to systematically investigate its technical advantages and visual language characteristics in expressing ice and snow imagery. The study identifies four core visual language elements:highlight presentation, grayscale continuity, shadow depth, and texture simulation.Key technical parameters of the mezzotint technique are quantified, confirming its significant superiority over traditional etching in terms of grayscale coverage integrity and texture restoration for ice and snow imagery. The research outcomes provide technical specifications for ice-and-snow-themed copperplate creation and offer theoretical support and practical pathways for the contemporary application of traditional mezzotint in natural subjects. 展开更多

China is the birthplace of woodblock, copperplate and non metal_type printing, movable metal_type technique,as the product of combination of copperplate and non metal_type technique, also originated in China. However, the problem on the origin of metal_type has not well been solved for a long time. This paper proved that metal_type was cast and used for paper money printing in China since the early 12th century,copper_type and tin_type technique was further developed during the 13th to 14th centuries,on the basis of investigation of excavated findings, textual research and scientific judgment. Finally a comparative research of the early metal_type technique in China,Korea and Europe was briefly discussed.A lot of unearthed material evidence were provided here. 展开更多
