Objective:Irrational medicine consumption practices increase the country's health expenditures and raise public health concerns, challenging sustainable development in multiple ways. The objective of this study is to identify the key factors influencing irrational medicine consumption and devise a strategic framework to encourage responsible medicine use.Method:A cross-sectional qualitative descriptive design was used.Study data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analysed using thematic analysis to identify the key factors contributing to irrational medicine consumption. Results:Various factors like cyberchondria coupled with health misinformation, inaccessible healthcare, limited product choices, misleading online pharmacies, and infeasible pharmaceutical regulations act as key drivers of irresponsible medicine consumption. The participants recommended enhancing healthcare access, utilizing technology, promoting health literacy, and updating regulations as strategies to improve responsible medicine use.Against this backdrop, the study proposes a double helix model for responsible consumption of medicines through bilateral efforts from both consumers and the health system. Conclusion:Highlighting the importance of responsible consumption, this paper calls health system actors to action to accelerate the efforts to foster responsible consumption of medicines. 展开更多

In the context of the joint operation of China’s intra-provincial markets and inter-provincial trading, how to meet the load demand and energy consumption using inter-provincial renewable energy trading is a key problem. The combined operation of intra-provincial and inter-provincial markets provides a new way for provincial power companies to optimize and clear the intra-provincial power market, complete the intra-provincial consumption responsibility weight index, and consume renewable energy across provinces and regions. This paper combines power generation and consumption within the province, uses inter-provincial renewable energy trading tomeet the load demand within the province and completes the index of intra-provincial consumption responsibility weights. The intra-provincial market trading and inter-provincial market clearing are respectively taken as the upper and lower levels of the model.Under the two-level electricity market operation framework, the upper-level model aims to minimize the expected total operating cost within the province considering the carbon emission cost and the weight of the consumption responsibility, while the lower-level model aims to minimize the inter-provincial renewable energy purchasing cost. Finally, the influence of inter-provincial transaction mechanism, risk aversion coefficient, voucher price, and responsibility weight on operating cost is analyzed.Simulation is used to verify that the proposed model can meet the requirements of the provincial load power consumption and the consumption responsibility weight index, and promote the consumption of renewable energy. 展开更多

This study examines the impact of artificial intelligence(AI)on carbon inequality(CI)in 67 countries from 1995 to 2019.The results suggest that(i)AI significantly amplifies CI both between and within countries due to its energy requirements and uneven deployment;(ii)trade openness and global value chain(GVC)positioning mitigate AI’s effect on inter-country CI,while robust governance—marked by larger government size and institutional transparency—curtails intra-country disparities;(iii)specific thresholds(trade openness>4.74,GVC position>−1.07,government size>2.90,transparency>−0.22)shift the impact of AI from exacerbating to reducing CI.The adverse effects of AI can be reversed through enhanced trade,GVC integration, and strong governance.Key policy implications:Policymakers must prioritize exceeding these thresholds to leverage AI for sustainable and equitable outcomes. This requires(a)promoting trade liberalization to spread the benefits of AI globally, reducing inter-country CI;(b)strengthening GVC participation to offset the carbon-intensive use of AI;(c)building government capacity and transparency to ensure fair adoption of AI domestically;and(d)embedding these strategies in climate policies to align AI with the long-term goals of environmental justice and the SDGs,particularly climate action(SDG 13)and reducing inequalities(SDG 10). 展开更多
