Purpose:What factors influence conscious consumerism,especially related to race and gender identities?This scholarship explores three white women-led social responsibility organizations’(SROs)aspirations to encourage conscious consumerism as well as factors that influence conscious consumerism.Design/methodology/approach:Using the Black feminist thought and sustainability development theory,the data were analyzed using a thematic analysis to explore the activation of the white savior industrial complex(WSIC)in SROs.Interviews provided in-depth knowledge of the SRO culture including,but not limited to,insight on social exclusion and partnerships.Findings:Noonday Collection,Sseko Designs,and Trades of Hope,all SROs,aspire to be dedicated to people,planet,and profit and encourage conscious consumerism as a means for their customer base and sales consultants to“do their part”,and yet,an unintended consequence of the SROs’work is social exclusion and white saviorism.Originality:This scholarship investigates what can be done to dismantle the overreliance of conscious consumerism in an effort to finally strip white saviorism,and its role in the white savior industrial complex(WSIC),of its power. 展开更多

People have been engaged in sports activities both individually and collectively for years.Sports consumption,which refers to the process that covers many issues related to sports in the form of playing,watching,listening or reading,is a form of human behavior.The satisfaction of the four marketing components of product,price,distribution and promotion by using the leisure time of the sports consumer effectively and ensuring its continuity in the future process can be ensured by effective utilization of facilities and quality recreation activities.Consumer behaviors,which have a very complex structure,are seen in the form of choosing,buying,using and obtaining.With this study,it is aimed to determine the mediating role of consumer decision-making styles in determining the effect of marketing components in the consumption of sports activities on the satisfaction of sports consumers.In this direction,data were collected in the province of Istanbul,which was determined as the sample.Data were obtained with a questionnaire form created on Google Form.These data were analyzed in line with the model and hypotheses created with these data and it was determined that the marketing components of sports consumption have an impact on the sports consumer and it was concluded that consumer decision-making styles have a positive mediating effect in this regard. 展开更多

Evaluation of the measurement properties of online health information quality assessment tools: A systematic review

Objectives:This study aimed to evaluate the measurement properties and methodological quality of instruments developed to evaluate the quality of online health information.Methods:In this study,a systematic search was conducted across a range of databases,including the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang,China Science and Technology Journal(VIP),SinoMed,PubMed,Web of Science,CINAHL,Embase,the Cochrane Library,PsycINFO,and Scopus.The search period spanned from the inception of the databases to October 2023.Two researchers independently conducted the literature screening and data extraction.The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments(COSMIN)Risk of Bias checklist.The measurement properties were evaluated using the coSMIN criteria.The modified Grading,Recommendations,Assessment,Development,and Evaluation(GRADE)system was used to determine the quality grade.Results:A total of 18 studies were included,and the measurement properties of 17 scales were assessed.Fifteen scales had content validity,three had structural validity,six had internal consistency,two had test-retest reliability,nine had interater reliability,one had measurement error,six instruments had criterion validity,and three scales had hypotheses testing for construct validity;however,the evaluation of their methodological quality and measurement properties revealed deficiencies.Of these 17 scales,15 were assigned a Level B recommendation,and two received a Level C recommendation.Conclusions:The Health Information Website Evaluation Tool(HIWET)can be temporarily used to evaluate the quality of health information on websites.The Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool(PEMAT)can temporarily assess the quality of video-based health information.However,the effectiveness of both tools needs to be further verified. 展开更多

Numerous studies documented the occurrence of organophosphate tri-esters(tri-OPEs)and di-esters(di-OPEs)in the environment.Little information is available on their occurrence in waste consumer products,reservoirs and sources of these chemicals.This study collected and analyzed 92 waste consumer products manufactured from diverse polymers,including polyurethane foam(PUF),polystyrene(PS),acrylonitrile butadiene styrene(ABS),polypropylene(PP),and polyethylene(PE)to obtain information on the occurrence and profiles of 16 tri-OPEs and 10 di-OPEs.Total concentrations of di-OPEs(18−370,000 ng/g,median 1,700 ng/g)were one order of magnitude lower than those of tri-OPEs(94−4,500,000 ng/g,median 5,400 ng/g).The concentrations of both tri-and di-OPEs in products made of PUF,PS,and ABS were orders of magnitude higher than those made of PP and PE.The compositional patterns of OPEs varied among different polymer types but were generally dominated by bisphenol A bis(diphenyl phosphate),triphenyl phosphate,tris(1-chloro-2-propyl)phosphate,di-phenyl phosphate(DPHP),and bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate.Two industrially applied di-OPEs(di-n-butyl phosphate and DPHP)exhibited higher levels than their respective tri-OPEs,contrary to their production volumes.Some non-industrially applied chlorinated di-OPEs were also detected,with concentrations up to 97,000 ng/g.These findings suggest that degradation of tri-OPEs during the manufacturing and use of products is an important source of di-OPEs.The mass inventories of tri-OPEs and di-OPEs in consumer products were estimated at 3,100 and 750 tons/year,respectively.This study highlights the importance of consumer products as emission sources of a broad suite of OPEs. 展开更多
