The 18^(th)Academic Conference of the Seismological Society of China was held in Guiyang,China,on August 7,2023,fostering academic exchanges on the latest advancements in earthquake science.The conference featured 170...The 18^(th)Academic Conference of the Seismological Society of China was held in Guiyang,China,on August 7,2023,fostering academic exchanges on the latest advancements in earthquake science.The conference featured 170 abstracts and nearly 300 academic presentations.In this paper,we classify and summarize the scholars'presentations,analyzing the current state and progress of earthquake science in China from four key perspectives:crustal structure dynamics,earthquake mechanisms,seismic resilience of urban and rural infrastructure,and innovative earthquake services.The presentations reveal that research primarily focuses on detecting crustal structures in southwest China,with seismic imaging technology and magnetotelluric detection being the most commonly used methods.Studies on earthquake mechanisms are centered on recent destructive events,such as the 2023 M_(W)7.8 and M_(W)7.6 Türkiye earthquakes,the 2022 M_(W)6.7 Luding earthquake,and the 2021 M_(W)7.4 Madoi earthquake.Regarding seismic resilience,the focus is on shock resistance and seismic isolation experiments involving large-scale hybrid structures,as well as the formation mechanisms and risk assessments of earthquake-triggered disaster chains.Additionally,significant progress has been made in smart earthquake services,particularly in rapid disaster assessment,earthquake disaster information extraction technology,the China Seismic Experimental Site,and the strong-motion Flatfile database for China's Mainland.Overall,this conference highlighted that earthquake science in China has reached a new level of development.However,numerous scientific challenges and critical technologies remain to be addressed,such as acquiring higher-resolution crustal structures and applying big data and artificial intelligence to diverse seismic models and earthquake services,which requires the continued collaboration of researchers in the field.展开更多

Objective This study analyzed how the 10 Global Conferences on Health Promotion have played a significant role in shaping and promoting a worldwide consensus and actions on health promotion,effectively addressing dive...Objective This study analyzed how the 10 Global Conferences on Health Promotion have played a significant role in shaping and promoting a worldwide consensus and actions on health promotion,effectively addressing diverse health challenges that evolved over different periods.Methods The textual analysis method was used in this study and text encoding was conducted to systematically examine the declarations and reports presented by the 10 Global Conferences on Health Promotion held during 1986-2021.We summarized the themes and key achievements,and key vocabulary in the conference declarations was extracted and analyzed to construct the global health promotion consensus and actions.Results The fundamental principles of the conferences are to foster consensus and initiate actions in the realm of health promotion on a global scale.The primary purpose and goal are to promote health from regional to global.Significantly,our findings highlight a transition in the primary actors driving health promotion.It underscores a shift in health promotion from being driven primarily by organizations like the World Health Organization,governments,and international bodies,to a more inclusive approach involving non-governmental organizations and the general public.This development implies that health promotion has evolved into a collective global endeavor,demanding the proactive involvement of various stakeholders,and forging new alliances in public health.Meanwhile,the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has further shaped the landscape of health promotion,underscoring the need for intensified focus on areas including disease prevention,health education,and the integration of digital health technologies,and emphasizing the importance of a multidimensional,responsive approach in public health initiatives.Conclusions Sustained collaboration and innovative strategies are pivotal to advancing health promotion globally.Countries,together with public and private entities,should intensify cooperation.Multisectoral collaboration among partners such as healthcare,education,social security,and the industry is vital for health promotion and achieving global health goals.展开更多

In the enterprise setting, earnings conference call remains a rarely explored field. This thesis offers a descriptive study on assessing interpreting quality from perspectives of fidelity, fluency, and appropriacy. As the corpus, Tencent 2022 Third Quarter Result Announcement provides an ideal transcript to the author to conduct its analysis. Interpreting is frequently done without bearing in mind the multitude of factors that can affect the quality of interpreting. Drawing a conclusion that the interpreter does make a lot of omissions, pauses and hesitations posing a negative effect on the fidelity, fluency and accuracy of the interpreting, the present author suggests that more preparation should be done for improving performance, such as terminologies, company background information, a reasonable speech rate, good image and acoustic quality, and so on.展开更多

During the conference, the Chinese delegation promoted the establishment of a group to revise the declaration on the human environment by uniting with Third World countries. By participating in IPCC assessments and conducting national climate change assessments, China has been increasing its understanding of the issue. For the first time, China＇s top leader attended the Conference of the Parties, which indicates the acknowledgement of the rationality and necessity of climate change response by China at different levels. Moreover, this participation reflects China＇s commitment to including climate change in its ecology improvement program and pursuing a low-carbon society and economy. In order to ensure the success of the Paris Conference, China has contributed significantly. China＇s constructive participation in global governance shows that China is a responsible power. In this article, we categorize and analyze the schemes, and provide several multipoint speech audio mixing schemes using weighted algorithm, which meet the demand of practical needs for real-time multipoint speech mixing, for which the ASW and AEW schemes are especially recommended. Applying the adaptive algorithms, the high-performance schemes we provide do not use the saturation operation widely used in multimedia processing. Therefore, no additional noise will be added to the output. The above adaptive algorithms have relatively low computational complexity and good hearing perceptibility. The schemes are designed for parallel processing, and can be easily implemented with hardware, such as DSPs, and widely applied in multimedia conference systems.展开更多

Although the global incidence of gastric cancer is declining, it remains highly prevalent in Asia as comp...Introduction Gastric cancer is a heterogeneous disease with large variations across geographical regions （1）. Although the global incidence of gastric cancer is declining, it remains highly prevalent in Asia as compared to the West （2,3）. China is one of the countries with the highest incidence of gastric cancer, and accounts for over 40% of all new gastric cancer cases in the world （4,5）. Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer mortality in China （6,7）. The 7th National Gastric Cancer Academic Conference （NGCAC） was held in Beijing from June 22 to June 24 with approximately 1,200 attendees, which was organized by Gastric Cancer Committee, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association （CACA） （Figure I）. The theme of this conference was specification, integration, and transformation. Dr. Jiafu Ji, MD, FACS, the chairman of the conference, the president of Gastric Cancer Committee, CACA, pointed out that the conference was aimed at standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, integrating the information platform, and transferring current research achievements （Figure 1）. It has been about thirteen years since last National gastric cancer academic conference, which was held in Nanjing in 1999. In this conference, nine pioneer experts （Drs Yan-Zhen Lin, Ji-Fu Wang, Guang-Wei Xu, Jun-Qing Chen, Wen-Fan Zhang, Yin-Chang Zhang, Mao-Lin Jin, Xiang-Fu Zhang, and Xi-Shan Hao） were awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by Gastric Cancer Committee, CACA. The 7th National Gastric Cancer Academic Conference （NGCAC） was held in Beijing from June 22 to June 24 with approximately 1,200 attendees, which was organized by Gastric Cancer Committee, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association （CACA） （Figure I）. The theme of this conference was specification, integration, and transformation. Dr. Jiafu Ji, MD, FACS, the chairman of the conference, the president of Gastric Cancer Committee, CACA, pointed out that the conference was aimed at standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, integrating the information platform, and transferring current research achievements （Figure 1）. It has been about thirteen years since last National gastric cancer academic conference, which was held in Nanjing in 1999. In this conference, nine pioneer experts （Drs Yan-Zhen Lin, Ji-Fu Wang, Guang-Wei Xu, Jun-Qing Chen, Wen-Fan Zhang, Yin-Chang Zhang, Mao-Lin Jin, Xiang-Fu Zhang, and Xi-Shan Hao） were awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by Gastric Cancer Committee, CACA. There were ten sessions and more than two hundred papers or abstracts submitted, the proceeding was published in Translational Gastrointestinal Cancer Vol 1, supplement 1, June 2 012.
