According to the concept of the compression factor and its differential equation, a stop-wave model is built. The theoretical value and the observed one are obtained by the survey data in Changchun city. The relative error between the two values is 20. 3%. The accuracy is improved 39% compared with the result from the traditional stop-wave model. The results show that the traffic flow is compressible, and the methods of research on gas compressibility is also applicable to the traffic flow. On the basis of expression of speed of sound in inhomogeneous medium and generalized equation of continuity of mass obtained in papers [1,2] respectively, it is proved that so called internal gravitation waves do not exist in nature. This concept appeared as a result of incorrect interpretation of incompressibility of medium. Correct understanding of criteria of compressibility or incompressibility leads to qualitatively new understanding of homogeneity or heterogeneity of medium, in particular—only strongly inhomogeneous medium can be incompressible while weakly inhomogeneous medium is always compressible. Besides, it is shown that in inhomogeneous media additional terms are added to known hydrodynamic (gas dynamic) correlations applicable to any medium which disappear at transfer to homogeneous model of medium.展开更多

The compressibility effect of density gradient, pressure dilatation and turbulent Mach number is accounted. In order to reduce confusions between model uncertainties and discretization errors, the formally fifth-order explicit weighted compact nonlinear scheme (WCNS-E-5) is adopted for convection terms, and a fourth-order staggered central difference scheme is applied for viscous terms. The 15° and 34° compression comers at Mach number 9.22 are investigated. Numerical results show that the original SST model is superior to the original S-A model in the resolution of separated regions and predictions of wall pressures and wall heat-flux rates. The capability of the S-A model can be largely improved by blending Catris' and Shur's compressibility corrections. Among the three corrections of the SST model listed in the present paper, Catris' modification brings the best results. However, the dissipation and pressure dilatation corrections result in much larger separated regions than that of the experiment, and are much worse than the original SST model as well as the other two corrections. The correction of turbulent Mach number makes the separated region slightly smaller than that of the original SST model. Some results of low-order schemes are also presented. When compared to the results of the high-order schemes, the separated regions are smaller, and the peak wall pressures and peak heat-flux rates are lower in the region of the reattachment points.展开更多

To systematically discuss the effect of compressibility in different metallic rod-target combinations, we construct three cases, i.e., the penetrations by the more compressible rod into the less compressible target, rod into the analogously compressible target, and the less compressible rod into the more compressible target. The effects of volumetric strain, internal energy, and strength on the penetration efficiency are analyzed simultaneously. It indicates that the compressibility of the rod and target increases the pressure at the rod/target interface. The more compressible rod/target has larger volumetric strain and higher internal energy. Both the larger volumetric strain and higher strength enhance the penetration or anti-penetration ability. On the other hand, the higher internal energy weakens the penetration or anti-penetration ability. The two trends conflict, but the volumetric strain dominates in the variation of the penetration efficiency, which would not approach the hydrodynamic limit if the rod and target are not analogously compressible. However, if the compressibility of the rod and target is analogous, it has little effect on the penetration efficiency.展开更多

To avoid the limitations involved in Terzaghi’s theory, many efforts are being made by scholars to solve the problems in practical engineering situations. This paper presents a generalized theory for one dimensional consolidation of saturated soft clay with variable compressibility and permeability. The semi-analytical solution presented here takes into account the well known empirical e-logk and e-logp′(σ′) relations under instantaneous loading. Study of the consolida- tion behaviors showed that the ratio of Cc and Ck (the slope of e-logp and e-logk respectively) govern the ratio of consolidation. A simulative laboratory investigation with GDS advanced consolidation system was made to analyze the clay consolidation process and compare the results with the semi-analytical solution.展开更多

During the freezing, a part of the soils is loosened and another part is over-consolidated under the freezing pressure σE. The compression curves after the freezing and thaw consolidation are neither different from the normal consolidation curve nor from the rebound curve of an unfrozen soil, until the consolidation pressure σz = σE is arrived. Based on the experimental results, a theoretical model has been devel- oped to predict the frost heaves, the thaw-settlements and the compressive deformations of fine-grained soils after the thaw consolidation. The theoretical results are very close to the experimental results.展开更多

For WHA rod penetrating PMMA at 2 km/s <V <5 km/s, the compressibility has a significant effect on the penetration efficiency. We clarify how compressibility affects the penetration efficiency by changing the stagnation pressures of the rod and target. For WHA rod penetrating 4340 Steel and 6061-T6 Al at 2 km/s < V < 10 km/s, the effect of strength is strong and the effect of compressibility is negligible at lower impact velocity, whilst the effect of strength is weak and the effect of compressibility becomes stronger at higher impact velocity. For the copper jet penetrating 4030 Steel, 6061-T6 Al and PMMA. the virtual origin model is adopted, and the compressibility and strength are implicitly considered by the linear relation between the penetration velocity and impact velocity. The effects of compressibility and target resistance on penetration efficiency are studied. The results show that the target resistance has a significant effect on the penetration efficiency. Howver PMMA is much more compressible than copper and the huge difference of compressibility has a significant effect on the penetration by hypervelocity copper jet into PMMA.展开更多

In the method, soil stratum is divided equally into n layers while load and consolidation time are also divided into small parts and time intervals accordingly. The problem of one-dimensional consolidation of soil stratum under cyclic loading can then be dealt with at each time interval as one-dimensional linear consolidation of multi-layered soils under constant loading. The compression or rebounding of each soil layer can be judged by the effective stress of the layer. When the effective stress is larger than that in the last time interval, the soil layer is compressed, and when it is smaller, the soil layer rebounds. Thus, appropriate compressibility can be chosen and the consolidation of the layered system can be analyzed by the available analytical linear consolidation theory. Based on the semi-analytical method, a computer program was developed and the behavior of one-dimensional consolidation of soil with varied compressibility under cyclic loading was investigated, and compared with the available consolidation theory which takes no consideration of varied compressibility of soil under cyclic loading. The results showed that by taking the variable compressibility into account, the rate of consolidation of soil was greater than the one predicted by conventional consolidation theory.展开更多

The algorithm is based on the method of artificial compressibility and uses a third-order flux-difference splitting technique for the convective terms and the second-order central difference for the viscous terms. The numerical flux of semi-discrete equations is computed by using the Roe approximation. Time accuracy is obtained in the numerical solutions by subiterating the equations in pseudotime for each physical time step. The algebraic turbulence model of Baldwin-Lomax is ulsed in this work. As examples, the solutions of flow through two dimensional flat, airfoil, prolate spheroid and cerebral aneurysm are computed and the results are compared with experimental data. The results show that the coefficient of pressure and skin friction are agreement with experimental data, the largest discrepancy occur in the separation region where the lagebraic turbulence model of Baldwin-Lomax could not exactly predict the flow.展开更多

文摘Terzaghi gave a theory of soil consolidation based on the effective stress principle, which was derived on several ideal assumptions to get a simplified theory. A simulative laboratory investigation with GDS advanced consolidation system was made to analyze the clay consolidation process and compare the results with the semi-analytical solution.

文摘A 2 m class robotic drill was sent to the Moon and successfully collected and returned regolith samples in late 2020 by China. It was a typical thick wall spiral drill(TWSD)with a hollow auger containing a complex coring system to retain subsurface regolith samples. Before the robotic drill was launched,a series of laboratory tests were carried out to investigate and predict the possible drilling loads it may encounter in the lunar environment. This work presents how the sampling performance of the TWSD is affected by the regolith compressibility.Experiments and analysis during the drilling and sampling process in a simulated lunar regolith environment were conducted. The compressibility of a typical lunar regolith simulant(LRS)was measured through unidirectional compression tests to study the relationship between its inner regolith stress and bulk density.A theoretical model was established to elucidate the cutting discharge behavior by auger flights based on the aforementioned relationship.Experiments were conducted with the LRS,and the results show that the sampling performance is greatly affected by the flux of the drilled cuttings into the spiral flight channels. This work helped in scheduling reasonable drilling parameters to promote the sampling performance of the robotic drill in the Chinese Chang’E 5 mission.
文摘In order to investigate the effects of freezing and thawing on the compressibility of fine-grained soils, freezing and thawing tests and subsequent compression tests with fine-grained soils in an oedometer were carried out. The theoretical results are very close to the experimental results.

文摘Based on the difference of the Y-terminal functional group of the silane coupling agent(Y-Si(X)_(3)),four different silane coupling agents were employed to pretreat the surface of the NdFeB powders. The effects of silane coupling agents on the flowability and compressibility of compounds for preparing bonded NdFeB magnets were studied. It is indicated that compounds pretreated by silane coupling agents have weaker friction and meshing force. The apparent density is increased by 0.3 g/cm^(3 )compared with the compound without silane coupling agent, and the radial crushing strength is significantly increased by about 3-4 times. In addition, the epoxy resin is more evenly distributed on the surface of the compounds treated by silane coupling agents observed by scanning electron microscopy, and some agglomerated particles are produced. Also, the compressibility of compounds with silane coupling agents is significantly improved due to the fact that hardening exponents are reduced. However, the addition of silane coupling agents has almost no effect on the magnetic properties of bonded magnets. The special energy was used to manifest the flowability of magnetic powder particles representing the macroscopic performance of the force between powder particles, providing a new direction for the study of the interface compatibility of two-phase or multiphase composite materials.

文摘In order to study the effect of different CO2 contents on gas compressibility factor(Z-factor),the JEFRI-PVT apparatus has been used to measure the Z-factor of dry natural gas with CO2 content range from 10.74 to 70.42 mol%at the temperature range from 301.2 to 407.3 K and pressure range from 7 to 44 MPa.The results show that Z-factor decreases with increasing CO2 content in natural gas at constant temperature and increases with increasing temperature for natural gas with the same CO2 content. In addition, the Z-factor of water-saturated natural gas with high CO2 content has been measured.A comparison of the Z-factor between natural gas with and without saturated water vapor indicates that the former shows a higher Z-factor than the latter.Furthermore,Peng-Robinson,Hall-Yarborough,and Soave-Benedict-Webb- Rubin equations of state(EoS)are used for the calculation of Z-factor of high CO2 content natural gas with and without water vapor. The optimal binary interaction parameters(BIP)for PR EoS are presented. The measured Z-factor is compared with the calculated Z-factor based on three models, which shows that PR EoS combined with van der Waals mixing rule for gas without water and Huron-Vidal mixing rule for water-saturated gas,are in good agreement with the experimental data.

文摘The approximate compressible model is adopted to study the effects of strength and compressibility on the penetration by WHA long rod and copper jet into semi-infinite target in detail. Howver PMMA is much more compressible than copper and the huge difference of compressibility has a significant effect on the penetration by hypervelocity copper jet into PMMA.
文摘This paper presents a semi-analytical method to solve one dimensional consolidation problem by taking consideration of varied compressibility of soil under cyclic loading. The results showed that by taking the variable compressibility into account, the rate of consolidation of soil was greater than the one predicted by conventional consolidation theory.
文摘A mixed algorithm of central and upwind difference scheme for the solution of steady/unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. The results show that the coefficient of pressure and skin friction are agreement with experimental data, the largest discrepancy occur in the separation region where the lagebraic turbulence model of Baldwin-Lomax could not exactly predict the flow.

文摘Hydraulic fracturing technology plays a key role in improving the recovery rate of shale gas.The improvement of permeability in relation to hydraulic fracturing depends on changes brought about by the proppant on the fracture structure in reservoirs. Then it is of great significance to describe the microscopic changes during this process by means of an accurate theoretical model. In this study, based on the heterogeneity of shale fracture and the compaction and embedment of a proppant,we proposed a permeability model to examine the combined effects of a proppant and stress to describe the change mechanism in permeability.Further, changes in fracture width and porosity were considered, and a calculation model of fracture compressibility under proppant compaction and embedment was proposed. The difference from previous studies is that the compressibility and permeability of supported fractures can be further quantified and analyzed by this model. Moreover, its rationality was verified by publicly released test data. The results show that, the compressive effect of stress and the embedding of proppant both have a negative impact on shale permeability.
