This study investigates community identity in Nanjing’s historic Hehuatang community during urban renewal,revealing tensions between heritage preservation and modernization.Through ethnographic research,three key fac...This study investigates community identity in Nanjing’s historic Hehuatang community during urban renewal,revealing tensions between heritage preservation and modernization.Through ethnographic research,three key factors are identified shaping identity:(i)material conditions including series of spatial conflicts around overcrowding,(ii)social tensions such as tenant-aborigine divides and generational misunderstanding,and(iii)institutional governance as top-down policies would exacerbate distrust.Despite 82%of residents expressing place attachment,67%desire relocation due to deteriorating liveability—a paradox highlighting the failure of China’s contemporary performative participation models.The adapted three-layer creativity model underscores the need to reconcile physical renewal with social equity.Findings advocate for co-design processes that integrate resident agency,offering lessons for sustainable urban renewal in rapidly developing contexts.展开更多

The aim of this res...The paper starts from the theoretical model of multiculturalism as a possibility for an individual to develop their own identity, to accept and respect the identity of other members of a community. The aim of this research is to determine how the students of pedagogy define the concept of multiculturalism and in how far they consider it to be current in contemporary social relationships. The survey was carried out using the descriptive method and the analysis of contents. It examined the attitudes of students who are preparing themselves for advisory work with children in elementary school and high school. The results of the research confirm that the pedagogy students define the concept of multiculturalism clearly. They recognize the need for upbringing that fosters multiculturalism in modern education, in order to gain extensive knowledge and use it in a particular situation.展开更多

Designed as a regional political instrument, the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications started a pilot project： ＂Driver education as a part of upper secondary school in district Norway＂. The focal point in this paper is to explore how the professional participants understand and interpret the project as a regional political instrument in order to maintain the local community, identity and local belonging. The theoretical approach is based on Giddens＇s actor/structure theory, while the analysis based on discourse analysis, in the analysis we separated the arguments used in the professional discourse. We detected different categories of argument in the discourses among the professionals. In addition to the professional discourse, we became aware of a personal discourse. In both discourses the political instrument was perceived to be important in order to maintain the local community, create equality and maintain local identity and a sense of belonging.展开更多
“Development of family civilization”has joined legislative language system from policy language and ethical language,and has become the basic value orientation of the Marriage and Family Section of Civil Code of the...“Development of family civilization”has joined legislative language system from policy language and ethical language,and has become the basic value orientation of the Marriage and Family Section of Civil Code of the People's Republic of China(hereinafter referred to as“the Civil Code”).We need to specify significance and jurisprudence of family civilization,and make family civilization harmonious with the basic principles(basic value orientations)of Marriage and Family Section and Inheritance Section.The significance of family civilization in the new era should be taken to include equality,respect,loyalty and unity,as is specified through the legal rules of marriage and family.Development of family civilization does not challenge freedom,but overcomes the defects of individualism in the identity community so as to fully realize the liberal and all-round development of each family member.By integrating family civilization with the basic value orientation of its Marriage and Family Section,the Civil Code has demonstrated a basic position of valuing“family”and of“coordinating the relationship betweenaindividual and family.”Moreover,it has revealed the basic attitude of Chinese people towards marital relationship and even towards marriage and family:Marriage and family provide a warm harbor of ethical love with legal significance,a weal-and-woe-sharing community of affection and property wherein family members,husband and wife in particular,focus on overall coordination.It is a closeknit group of equality,harmony,solidarity,like-mindedness,mutual respect and care for the elderly and for the young,and of trust-worthy team.展开更多
