[Method] With the healthy branches of potted Coleus blumei as experiment materials, effects of sucrose concentration on the rooting of Coleus blumei cuttings as well as effects of sunlight on its growth were studied. [Results] Being compared with the CK (clear water), sucrose solution with low or high concentration will not promote the rooting of Coleus blumei cuttings; illumination will enhance the growth of Coleus blumei cuttings with roots; cutting treatment and management measures will greatly influence the rooting rate of Coleus blumei cuttings. [Conclusions] Sucrose solution will not promote the rooting of Coleus blumei cuttings; illumination will enhance the growth of Coleus blumei cuttings.展开更多

Methods Eighteen male rats were divided into three groups. Group I rats were treated as control. Group II rats were intraperitoneally administered with naphthalene (435 mg/kg b.wt) dissolved in corn oil once a day for a period of 30 days. Group III rats were treated with leaf extract (100 mg/kg b.wt) dissolved in 0.9% saline and naphthalene (435 mg/kg b.wt) dissolved in corn oil once a day for a period of 30 days. Results Significant protective effect was observed against naphthalene induced liver damage, which appeared evident from the response levels of marker enzymes (aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase). The biochemical components viz. triglycerides, free fatty acids, cholesterol acyl transferase, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, cholesterol and bilirubin were found to be increased in liver and serum of naphthalene stressed rats when compared to control. Conclusion Treatment of naphthalene intoxicated rats with plant extract reversed these distorted parameters to near normal levels. Liver histology showed supportive evidence regarding the protective nature of plant extract against fatty changes induced by naphthalene. The present study provides a scientific rationale for using C. aromaticus in the management of liver disorders.展开更多

The optimal conditions of callus induction from explants were achieved on the medium containing 6-BA (2.0 mg· L^-1) and NAA (1.0 mg· L^-1). Shoot tips were induced on the medium containing 6-BA (4.0 mg·L^-1) and NAA (0.5 mg·L^-1). The same media conditions were found suitable for shoot multiplication, we multiplied shoots rooted best on 1/2 MS medium supplemented with IBA (0.1 mg·L^-1).展开更多

It is identified as one analog of diterpene forskolin (FSK) which comes from the Indian plant Coleus forskohlii. Researches found that the Yunnan native plant Coleus forskohlii contained rich ISOF but not FSK. ISOF was reported to activate adenylyl cyclase (AC) isoforms. The ophthalmologic and cardiovascular effects of ISOF were firstly reported in the 1990s. The researchers in Kunming, China, found ISOF could lower blood pressure and intraocular pressure. Recent researches found the respiratory tract effects of ISOF, and showed that ISOF significantly elevated cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in rat lung homogenate, and relaxed the histamine-induced contraction of isolated guinea pig trachea and lung smooth muscle, isoforskolin pretreatment attenuates acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in several models, lowered LPS-induced secretion of the inflammatory cytokine in human monocytes.展开更多

The nematode multiplication was adversely affected when fungus was inoculated prior to nematode. Simultaneous inoculation of nematode and fungus as well as nematode followed by fungus seven days later, caused 85.5 per cent root rot disease and significant reduction in plant growth as well as nematode multiplication when compared to the inoculation fungus alone or fungus inoculation prior to nematode.展开更多
