Methods: Taking CoStudy platform as an example, this paper analyzes the background of the rise of cloud self-study, and explores the operating mechanism and possible problems of cloud self-study by combining user interviews and literature review. Results: The development motivation of cloud self-study includes the extension of physical space by technological progress, the tendency of Z-generation media survival, etc. CoStudy platform meets users’ learning needs and psychological sustenance by constructing learning scenes, strengthening self-discipline by heteronomy, and building a “learning community”. However, there are some potential problems in cloud self-study. Conclusion: Through a comprehensive survey of cloud self-study, we expect to provide beneficial enlightenment for the research and practice of online learning and promote the harmonious development of technology and learning.展开更多
