Cancer pain is one of the most prevalent and debilitating symptoms in patients with advanced malignancies,arising from multifactorial mechanisms involving peripheral,central,and systemic pathways.Conventional analgesi...Cancer pain is one of the most prevalent and debilitating symptoms in patients with advanced malignancies,arising from multifactorial mechanisms involving peripheral,central,and systemic pathways.Conventional analgesics,including opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,are often limited by their insufficient efficacy,tolerance,and risk of dependence.Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),characterized by its multi-component,multi-target,and systemic regulatory properties,has shown promising potential in cancer pain management.This review provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical classification and underlying mechanisms of cancer pain(including nerve infiltration,dysregulation of inflammatory mediators and ion channels,central sensitization,neuro-immune crosstalk,metabolic reprogramming,and gut-brain axis impairment),as well as the analgesic effects of representative TCM agents in cancer pain management.For example,bioactive components such as tetrahydroberberine,levo-tetrahydropalmatine,and piperine exert analgesic effects,thereby improving the quality of life of patients by inhibiting inflammatory cascades,regulating neurotransmitter systems,and preserving neural integrity.Commonly used preclinical models,including bone cancer pain,pancreatic cancer pain,and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy models,are summarized for their utility in mechanistic studies and efficacy evaluations.This review also discusses the current limitations of clinical evidence,such as small sample sizes,short follow-up periods,and limited translation from animal models,alongside major challenges in standardization,mechanistic elucidation,and clinical trial design.Future directions should focus on precise pain phenotyping,integrated multi-target interventions,rigorous efficacy safety validation,and innovations in drug delivery to facilitate the standardization and global adoption of TCM in cancer pain management.展开更多

Generative artificial intelligence(AI),specifically large language models,such as DeepSeek,has accelerated the digital transformation of healthcare systems in both developing and developed countries.The use of AI in d...Generative artificial intelligence(AI),specifically large language models,such as DeepSeek,has accelerated the digital transformation of healthcare systems in both developing and developed countries.The use of AI in diagnostics,image processing and interpretation,treatment personalization,clinical documentation,and drug discovery is an example of the implementation of AI in Western medicine.The need for evidence-based studies and a standardized approach to scientific medicine aligns well with these applications.AI can leave a lasting impact on the Chinese medicine(CM)landscape by increasing expectations and presenting new challenges.The analogy between the CM-specific diagnostic methods and pattern differentiation,which is holistic,pattern-oriented,patient-centered,and clinical data analysis,is significant at multiple levels.These qualities pose challenges for AI usage in CM,which heavily relies on structured data and pattern recognition.Despite these adversities,AI can still be used in CM through data standardization,prediction formulation,and treatment planning,provided that the integration of this tool considers the primary principles of CM and adheres to ethical and regulatory considerations.This review examines the dichotomous approach to health and medicine in the contexts of AI and CM,highlighting the evolving potential,inherent limitations,and ethical and regulatory issues associated with the application of AI to CM.It provides a foundation for developing technologically progressive yet culturally and philosophically sensitive strategies that are in harmony with traditional clinical values.展开更多

Environment serves as the pivotal medium to produce fermented food,with fluctuations in environmental factors exerting a profound impact on the modulation of fermentation microbial communities.Such shifts are crucial ...Environment serves as the pivotal medium to produce fermented food,with fluctuations in environmental factors exerting a profound impact on the modulation of fermentation microbial communities.Such shifts are crucial for the distinctiveness of fermented food flavor and the variability in quality.Chinese liquor(Baijiu)is one of the typical representatives of spontaneous fermented food.In this review,the multifaceted relationship between regional environmental attributes and the fermentation dynamics of Baijiu was examined,with a spotlight on the strong-flavor,sauce-flavor,and light-flavor varieties.It reveals the influence of regional environmental factors and brewing environmental factors on microbial function and metabolism,which results in the formation of unique flavor characteristics of Baijiu.The 9 main factors affecting the microecology of Baijiu fermentation were further explored,including environmental sensitivity,microbial interactions,biogeographic patterns,and key abiotic factors such as temperature and humidity.Environmental factor management is crucial for controlling microbial community in fermentation.Intelligent detection of the fermentation system is combined with artificial intelligence to realize the digitalization of Baijiu fermentation,with a view to further studying the environmental mechanism or quantitative control relationship of natural fermentation,improving the environmental stability of natural fermentation,and promoting the mechanization and intelligence of fermentation production.展开更多
Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has garnered increasing attention globally,with its modernization becoming a prominent research focus both within China and internationally.However,the lack of a precise definition for...Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has garnered increasing attention globally,with its modernization becoming a prominent research focus both within China and internationally.However,the lack of a precise definition for TCM modernization has hindered clear guidance for its development.Additionally,cancer remains a significant global public health challenge,largely untreatable with current methods.Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of TCM modernization is crucial for its evolution,revolution,drug discovery,and cancer therapy.This study provides an overview of the history,theory,characteristics,and evolution of TCM,highlighting its potential in cancer prevention and treatment.We propose a definition for TCM modernization,innovative Chinese medicine(ICM),and elucidate strategies to elevate TCM from a supporting role to a leading one.Electronic databases such as PubMed,Web of Science,ScienceDirect,and Clinical Trials were utilized to retrieve relevant literature spanning from 1979 to 2024,with most publications being from the last five years,using keywords like“Traditional Chinese medicine”,“Cancer”,“Mechanism”,and“Clinical trial”.In this study,we introduce the theory of TCM modernization following target identification and initial compound screening:ICM,defined by“3 D”elements:definite active ingredient composition and content,determined functional mechanism,and detection through evidence-based medicine.Overall,the“3 D”definition of ICM will establish a standard for ICM,accelerate TCM modernization,enhance drug discovery targeting cancer and various human diseases,and benefit patients worldwide.展开更多

文摘At the IEC,Chinese experts have been contributing their expertise to international standardization.As one of them,Ma Dejun has grown from an inexperienced explorer in the field of standardization into a distinguished expert driving the development of international standards in key sectors over the past 35 years.He was presented with the 2025 Lord Kelvin Award at the 89th IEC General Meeting held in New Delhi,India,in September 2025.Thus,he became the first Chinese expert to receive the highest honor bestowed by the IEC.In an exclusive interview with Ma Dejun,he reviewed his original aspiration behind his decades-long journey in international standardization,shared his experience and insights on promoting international standards,and looked forward to China's future role on the international standardiz ation stage.

文摘With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and increasing activity in high-altitude regions,the incidence of high-altitude-related diseases has steadily increased.Notably,the prevention and treatment of high-altitude brain injuries remain particularly challenging,making them a key focus of current medical research.The low-pressure and low-oxygen environments at high altitudes significantly increase the risk of hypoxic brain injury.Consequently,understanding the mechanisms that drive these injuries and developing targeted treatments are crucial for maintaining the health of individuals who rapidly ascend to high altitudes.This review examines the mechanisms underlying high-altitude brain injury,outlines the development and evaluation of commonly used animal models for altitude stress,and explores potential therapeutic approaches to support effective prevention and treatment strategies for these conditions.
文摘Generative artificial intelligence(AI),specifically large language models,such as DeepSeek,has accelerated the digital transformation of healthcare systems in both developing and developed countries.The use of AI in diagnostics,image processing and interpretation,treatment personalization,clinical documentation,and drug discovery is an example of the implementation of AI in Western medicine.The need for evidence-based studies and a standardized approach to scientific medicine aligns well with these applications.AI can leave a lasting impact on the Chinese medicine(CM)landscape by increasing expectations and presenting new challenges.The analogy between the CM-specific diagnostic methods and pattern differentiation,which is holistic,pattern-oriented,patient-centered,and clinical data analysis,is significant at multiple levels.These qualities pose challenges for AI usage in CM,which heavily relies on structured data and pattern recognition.Despite these adversities,AI can still be used in CM through data standardization,prediction formulation,and treatment planning,provided that the integration of this tool considers the primary principles of CM and adheres to ethical and regulatory considerations.This review examines the dichotomous approach to health and medicine in the contexts of AI and CM,highlighting the evolving potential,inherent limitations,and ethical and regulatory issues associated with the application of AI to CM.It provides a foundation for developing technologically progressive yet culturally and philosophically sensitive strategies that are in harmony with traditional clinical values.
文摘This paper divides the centuries-long communication of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in France into three progressive stages:the first stage(17th to 19th centuries),characterized by academic recognition and knowledge transmission;the second stage(mid-19th century to late 20th century),focusing on clinical verification and school-based innovation;and the third stage(late 20th century to the present),marked by cultural integration and pluralistic coexistence within systems.The introduction of TCM in France is a process of cross-cultural adaptation and coexistence driven by specific health needs in French society,such as chronic disease management and complementary therapies.The French medical community and sociocultural context have not only verified and interpreted TCM through an empirical scientific perspective,but also realized creative localization by developing indigenous schools such as electroacupuncture and auricular acupuncture.Eventually,through institutional measures including national certification,terminology standardization,and networked healthcare services,TCM has been deeply integrated into France’s medical system and social context,forming a stable ecosystem of cross-cultural adaptation and pluralistic coexistence.The French experience,which takes aligning with local health needs as the starting point,stimulating localized cultural innovation as the core,and promoting systematic integration into local systems as the support,presents a picture of traditional medicine serving modern society,the improvement of global health,as well as mutual learning and symbiosis among different civilizations.

文摘Environment serves as the pivotal medium to produce fermented food,with fluctuations in environmental factors exerting a profound impact on the modulation of fermentation microbial communities.Such shifts are crucial for the distinctiveness of fermented food flavor and the variability in quality.Chinese liquor(Baijiu)is one of the typical representatives of spontaneous fermented food.In this review,the multifaceted relationship between regional environmental attributes and the fermentation dynamics of Baijiu was examined,with a spotlight on the strong-flavor,sauce-flavor,and light-flavor varieties.It reveals the influence of regional environmental factors and brewing environmental factors on microbial function and metabolism,which results in the formation of unique flavor characteristics of Baijiu.The 9 main factors affecting the microecology of Baijiu fermentation were further explored,including environmental sensitivity,microbial interactions,biogeographic patterns,and key abiotic factors such as temperature and humidity.Environmental factor management is crucial for controlling microbial community in fermentation.Intelligent detection of the fermentation system is combined with artificial intelligence to realize the digitalization of Baijiu fermentation,with a view to further studying the environmental mechanism or quantitative control relationship of natural fermentation,improving the environmental stability of natural fermentation,and promoting the mechanization and intelligence of fermentation production.

文摘Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has garnered increasing attention globally,with its modernization becoming a prominent research focus both within China and internationally.However,the lack of a precise definition for TCM modernization has hindered clear guidance for its development.Additionally,cancer remains a significant global public health challenge,largely untreatable with current methods.Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of TCM modernization is crucial for its evolution,revolution,drug discovery,and cancer therapy.This study provides an overview of the history,theory,characteristics,and evolution of TCM,highlighting its potential in cancer prevention and treatment.We propose a definition for TCM modernization,innovative Chinese medicine(ICM),and elucidate strategies to elevate TCM from a supporting role to a leading one.Electronic databases such as PubMed,Web of Science,ScienceDirect,and Clinical Trials were utilized to retrieve relevant literature spanning from 1979 to 2024,with most publications being from the last five years,using keywords like“Traditional Chinese medicine”,“Cancer”,“Mechanism”,and“Clinical trial”.In this study,we introduce the theory of TCM modernization following target identification and initial compound screening:ICM,defined by“3 D”elements:definite active ingredient composition and content,determined functional mechanism,and detection through evidence-based medicine.Overall,the“3 D”definition of ICM will establish a standard for ICM,accelerate TCM modernization,enhance drug discovery targeting cancer and various human diseases,and benefit patients worldwide.
