Edible oils derived from aquatic products are rich in lipids beneficial to human health. However, the volatile flavor characteristics of flesh oil and liver oil from Doederleinia berycoides remain unclear. In this study, flesh oil and liver oil were extracted from Doederleinia berycoides, revealing different fatty acid compositions and contents.Lipidomics analysis identified a total of 124 differential lipids between the flesh oil and liver oil, including 42 glycerophospholipids(GPs),33 glycerolipids(GLs),23 free fatty acids(FAs),13 sphingolipids(SPs),10 sterols(STs),and 3 prenol lipids(PRs).Analysis using HS-GC-IMS identified 12 key volatile compounds that significantly contributed to the distinct volatile flavors of the flesh and liver oils. The volatile flavors originated from these volatile compounds, which had different Relative Odor Activity Values(ROAVs).Further results from HSSPME-GC-MS showed that the volatile flavors of the flesh oil and liver oil were respectively attributed to 64 and 35 volatile compounds, each with unique key volatile compounds exhibiting different ROAVs.There were significant positive or negative correlations between 18 key differential lipids and 24 volatile compounds in both flesh oil and liver oil. Therefore, the complex lipid profiles are responsible for the unique volatile flavors of flesh oil and liver oil,and the differential lipids play a central role in their volatile flavor formation. These findings provide a foundation for understanding the volatile flavor differences in fish oils and hold promise for further exploration of the molecular mechanisms underlying oil volatile flavors. 展开更多

The BZ oilfield in the Bohai Sea is a rare, highly volatile reservoir with fractures in the metamorphic rocks of buried hills.Clarifying the mechanism of gas injection for improving oil recovery and determining the optimal way to deploy injection-production well networks are critical issues that must be urgently addressed for efficient oilfield development.Experimental research on the mixed-phase displacement mechanism through gas injection into indoor formation fluids was conducted to guide the efficient development of gas injection in oil fields. We established a model of dual-medium reservoir composition and researched the deployment strategy for a three-dimensional well network for gas injection development. The coupling relationship between key influencing factors of the well network and fracture development was also quantitatively analyzed. The results show that the solubility of the associated gas and strong volatile oil system injected into the BZ oilfield is high. This high solubility demonstrates a mixed-phase displacement mechanism involving intermediate hydrocarbons, dissolution and condensation of medium components, and coexistence of extraction processes.Injecting gas and crude oil can achieve a favorable mixing effect when the local formation pressure is greater than 35.79 MPa.Associated gas reinjection is recommended to supplement energy for developing the highly volatile oil reservoirs in the fractured buried hills of the BZ oilfield. This recommendation involves fully utilizing the structural position and gravity-assisted oil displacement mechanism to deploy an injection-production well network.Gas injection points should be constructed at the top of high areas, and oil production points should be placed at the middle and lower parts of low areas. This approach forms a spatial threedimensional well network.By adopting high inclination well development, the oil production well forms a 45°angle with the fracture direction, which increases the drainage area and enhances single-well production capacity. The optimal injection-production well spacing along the fracture direction is approximately 1000 m,while the reasonable well spacing in the vertical fracture direction is approximately 800 m.The research results were applied to the development practice of the buried hills in the BZ oilfield, which achieved favorable development results. These outcomes provide a valuable reference for the formulation of development plans and efficient gas injection development in similar oil and gas fields in buried hills. 展开更多

This study aimed to evaluate the antidepressant effects of the combined administration of total saikosaponins(SSA)and volatile oil of Cyperi Rhizoma(VO)using a mouse depression model induced by chronic restraint plus mild stress(CRMS),and to compare the effects with the traditional antidepressant fluoxetine.Male Kunming mice were subjected to 14-day CRMS modeling and then randomly divided into four groups:the combined treatment group(intraperitoneal injection of SSA 3.5 mg·kg^(-1)+VO 35 mg·kg^(-1)),the fluoxetine treatment group(20 mg·kg^(-1)),the normal saline treatment group, and the non-model group.Drugs were administered continuously for 14 days.Depressive-like behaviors were assessed using the Forced Swimming Test(FST),Tail Suspension Test(TST),and Open-Field Test(OFT).The results showed that the absolute immobility time of mice in the CRMS model group was significantly prolonged in FST and TST.Combined administration of SSA and VO significantly improved depressive-like behaviors, restoring the absolute immobility time in FST and TST to levels close to the control group, with efficacy comparable to fluoxetine. This study confirms that the combination of SSA and VO exhibits antidepressant effects equivalent to fluoxetine in the CRMS model, providing experimental evidence for the further clinical development of this traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)compatibility. 展开更多

[Objective] This study was to explore the effect of three precursors on the accumulation of principal volatile oil constituents in tissue culture plantlets of Atractylodes lancea (Thunb.) DC. with the aim to provide references for the improvement of artificial cultivated A. lancea quality. [Method] Three precursors were added into the MS rooting medium for A. lancea tissue culture plantlets and the volatile oil was extracted by ultrasonication after cultured for several days. The content of atractylon, atractylol, β-eucalyptol and atractydin in the volatile oil were determined by using gas chromatography method. [Result] The addition of xylose, isoprene and tetrahydrofuran impacted the growth indicators, yield of volatile oil and relative percentage content of the four constituents of A. lancea tissue culture plantlets. In the 6 g/L xylose optimized medium, the atractylon and β-eucalyptol content reached up to 4.23% and 56.34%, respectively, 1.41% and 1.66% higher than the control; although the addition of isoprene into medium raised the atractylon content, the accumulation of total volatile oil was inhibited that it decreased by 23.67%, 31.06% and 7.10% to the control; for the tetrahydrofuran optimized medium, the content of atractylon, atractylol and atractydin all increased, and the total volatile oil content increased by 49.97% to the control when the concentration of tetrahydrofuran was 0.07 g/L. [Conclusion] The addition of xylose and tetrahydrofuran promoted the accumulation of principal constituents of the volatile oil, whereas the addition of isoprene inhibited the accumulation. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: Ulcerative colitis is a chronically recurrent inflammatory bowel disease of unknown origin. In the present study, the effect of ginger (rhizome of Zingiber officinale Roscoe) volatile oil on a rat model of colitis was evaluated. METHODS: Volatile oil of ginger with doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg, prednisolone (4 mg/kg), or vehicle were administered orally to groups of male Wistar rats (n = 6) for 5 d. Animals were randomly divided into 6 groups, each group consisting of 6 rats. Colitis was induced by intracolonic instillation of 2 mL of 4% (v/v) acetic acid solution. All rats were sacrificed 24 h later and the tissue injuries were assessed macroscopically and histopathologically. RESULTS: Ginger volatile oil with all doses reduced colon weight/length ratio (P 〈 0.01) and the effects were similar to the reference drugs. Higher oral doses of volatile oil (200 and 400 mg/kg) reduced ulcer severity (P 〈 0.05 and P 〈 0.01), ulcer area (P 〈 0.01) and ulcer index (P 〈 0.01). On the other hand, evaluation of microscopic scores showed that the dose of 400 mg/kg of volatile oil was effective to reduce inflammation severity (P 〈 0.01) and inflammation extent (P 〈 0.05) compared to the control group. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that ginger volatile oil could effectively reduce symptoms of experimental colitis in a dose-dependent manner. 展开更多

With a great difference in therapeutic effects of Mahuang(MH, the stems of Ephedra sinica) and Mahuanggen(MHG, the roots of Ephedra sinica), chemical differences between MH and MHG should be investigated. In the present study, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)-based plant metabolomics was employed to compare volatile oil profiles of MH and MHG. The antioxidant activities of volatile oils from MH and MHG were also compared. 32 differential chemical markers were identified according to the variable importance in the projection(VIP) value of orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) and P value of Mann-Whitney test. Among them, chemical markers of tetramethylpyrazine(TMP) and α-terpineol were quantified. Their contents were much higher in most MH samples compared with MHG. The antioxidant assay demonstrated that MH had significantly higher free radical-scavenging activity than MHG. Although MH and MHG derived from the same medicinal plant, there was much difference in their volatile oil profiles. MH samples had significantly higher content of two reported pharmacologically important chemical markers of TMP and α-terpineol, which may account for their different antioxidant activities. 展开更多

Aerial parts of Xanthium italicum in an air tight container greatly inhibited root elongation of radish, implying that this invasive plant could release biologically active volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the environment to affect other plants' growth. This phenomenon was further studied by evaluating the phytotoxic effects of X. italicum essential oil against two dicot plants, amaranth (Amaranthus mangostanus L.) and lettuce (Lectuca sativa L.), and two monocot plants, wheat (Triticum aestivum Linn) and ryegrass (Lolium multiforum), and analyzing the chemical composition of the oil. Among the 4 test species, amaranth was the most sensitive plant, 0.5μl/mL essential oil application resulted in a 50% reduction on root elongation, and 2.5 μl/mL essential oil almost completely inhibited its seedling growth. Wheat was the least sensitive species, whose root growth was reduced to 36% of control by 5 μl/mL essential oil. The essential oil exerted moderate inhibitory effect on both lettuce and ryegrass. Compared to a commercial herbicide-Harness, X. italicum oil exhibited stronger phytotoxicity on amaranth, lettuce and wheat, but weaker activity on ryegrass. The chemical composition of the essential oil isolated by hydrodistillation from the aerial parts of X. italicum Moretti was analyzed by GC/MS. Thirty two compounds were identified, representing 94.89% of total oil, which was found to be rich in monoterpene hydrocarbons (60.71%). The main constituents of the oil were limonene (51.61%), germacrene B (6.98%), 6-cadinol (5.94%), β-pinene (5.23%), α-caryophyllene (5.1%) and bornyl acetate (3.15%). Bioassay revealed the dominant constituent-limonene, was unlikely the responsible phytotoxic compound due to its low biological activity; rather, there might be other oil constituent(s) that either act alone, or work together, and possibly assisted by synergistic effect, to display the phytotoxic activity. Our results suggested that X. italicum might produce allelopathic VOCs to facilitate its invasion success. This is the first report on the phytotoxic activity and the chemical composition of the essential oil of X. itaficum Moretti from China. 展开更多

Microcapsules of volatile oil containing Herba Schizonepetae(VOHS) were prepared by emulsion solvent diffusion method to improve the drug loading and reduce the amount of pharmaceutical excipients.Orthogonal assay was applied to optimize the preparation condition of microcapsulation, and the results illustrated that the ratio of ethyl cellulose(EC) to VOHS influenced the property of VOHS microcapsule significantly.GC-MS analysis indicated that some volatile components with low concentration in VOHS were lost after microencapsulation. The microcapsules prepared with optimum condition had good fluidity, and the holes on the surface of the microcapsules contributed to the release of VOHS.The particles of the microcapsule conformed to a normal distribution with the diameter of 45—220 μm.In the simulated intestinal fluid containing 0.2% sodium dodecyl sulfate, pulegone in VOHS microcapsule showed a certain degree of slow release.Compared with β-cyclodextrin method, the microencapsulation used in the present work could reduce the amount of excipients and increase the drug loading. It was beneficial to reduce the dose of Chinese medicines containing volatile oils. 展开更多

MSC transplantation has been explored as a new clinical approach to stem cell-based therapies for bone diseases in regenerative medicine due to their osteogenic capability. However, only a small population of implanted MSC could successfully reach the injured areas. Therefore, enhancing MSC migration could be a beneficial strategy to improve the therapeutic potential of cell transplantation. Catharmus tinctorius volatile oil(CTVO) was found to facilitate MSC migration. Further exploration of the underlying molecular mechanism participating in the pro-migratory ability may provide a novel strategy to improve MSC transplantation efficacy. This study indicated that CTVO promotes MSC migration through enhancing ROCK2 mRNA and protein expressions. MSC migration induced by CTVO was blunted by ROCK2 inhibitor, which also decreased myosin light chain(MLC) phosphorylation.Meanwhile, the si RNA for ROCK2 inhibited the effect of CTVO on MSC migration ability and attenuated MLC phosphorylation, suggesting that CTVO may promote BMSC migration via the ROCK2/MLC signaling. Taken together, this study indicates that C.tinctorius volatile oil could enhance MSC migration via ROCK2/MLC signaling in vitro. C. tinctorius volatile oil-targeted therapy could be a beneficial strategy to improve the therapeutic potential of cell transplantation for bone diseases in regenerative medicine. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the effects of Mirazid and myrrh volatile oil on adult Fasciola gigantica(F.gigantica) under laboratory conditions. Methods:The effects of oleoresin extract of myrrh(Mirazid) and myrrh volatile oil on the surface morphology of adult F.gigantica following treatment in vitro had been determined by scanning electron microscopy. The results were compared with those observed in the fluke tegument following incubation in triclabendazole sulphoxide(TCBZ-SO),active form.(Fasinex,Ciba-Geigy).Results:Observations of the efficacy of Mirazid oleoresin extract and myrrh volatile oil indicated that both products showed dosedependent anthelmintic efficacy. The anterior half of the fluke was consistently more severely affected than the posterior half. The surface changes induced by Mirazid oleoresin extract were less severe than those observed after exposure to either myrrh volatile oil or TCBZ-SO.Flukes showed swelling after these treatments, but its level and blebbing were much greater with myrrh volatile oil;in which patches of tegumental sloughing were observed in the apical cone and the posterior mid-body region of flukes. This was not observed after treatment with Mirazid oleoresin extract. Conclusions:The comparatively more disruption, observed in myrrh volatile oil exposed specimens, compared to that exposed to Mirazid oleoresin extract might suggest that the anthelmintic activity of Mirazid oleo resin extract was attributed to its content of volatile oil. So,increasing the concentration of myrrh volatile oil in Mirazid might possibly help to developing its anthelmintic activity._______________________________________________ 展开更多

Active volatile components in drug pair(DP)Herba Ephedrae-Ramulus Cinnamomi(HE-RC),single drug HE and RC were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC/MS),chemometric resolution method(CRM)and overall volume integration.By means of CRM,the two-dimensional data obtained from GC-MS instruments were resolved into a pure chromatogram and a mass spectrum of each chemical compound. In total,97,62,and 78 volatile chemical components in volatile oil of HE,RC,and DP HE-RC,were respectively determined qualitatively and quantitatively, accounting for 90.08%,91.62%,and 89.76% total contents of volatile oil of HE,RC,and DP HE-RC respectively. It is further demonstrated that the numbers of volatile components of DP HE-RC are almost the sum of those of two single drugs, but some relative contents of them are changed. Some new components, such as 1,6-dimethylhepta-1,3,5-triene,tetracyclo[4.2.1.1(2,5).0(9,10)]deca-3,7-diene,globulol and(E,E)-6,10,14-trimethyl-5,9,13-pentadecatrien-2-one are found in DP HE-RC because of chemical reactions and physical changes during decoction. 展开更多

This study was designed to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of volatile oil of Platycladus orientalis(L.)Franco leaves(VOPF)and the underlying molecular mechanisms by using the non-infectious inflammation rat models and infectious inflammation mouse models.Ear swelling and intraperitoneal capillary permeability in mice, and carrageenan-induced toe swelling and cotton ball-induced granuloma in rats were used to reveal anti-inflammatory effects of VOPF.Moreover, the lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced mouse model of acute lung injury was used to explore the anti-inflammatory mechanism of VOPF.The results showed that VOPF could significantly inhibit auricular swelling, intraperitoneal capillary permeability in mice, and reduce granuloma swelling and paw swelling in rats.Furthermore,it significantly alleviated the pathological damage of the lung tissue. In addition,VOPF could reduce the contents of IL-1β and TNF-αand increase the content of IL-10 in the serum. It had little effect on the expression of p65 but reduced the phosphorylation level of p65 and IκB in NF-κB pathway. In conclusion,VOPF has anti-inflammatory effects and the mechanisms involve the down-regulation of the phosphorylation levels of p65 and IκB and blockage of the NF-κB signaling pathway. 展开更多

Objective:To probe into the therapeutic efect of perfume stimulating olfaction with volatile oil of Acorus Gramineus on the Alzheimer’s disease (AD) rat. Methods: Totally 50 adult SD rats, male, weighing 300±10 g, were randomly divided into 5 groups, normal group (group A), olfactory nerve severing model group (group B), AD model group (group C), AD model plus perfume stimulation group (group D), AD model olfactory nerve severing plus perfume stimulation group (group E), 10 rats in each group. After perfume stimulation, Morris maze test was conducted for valuating the learning and memory ability; Malondaldehyde (MDA) content, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities in the brain, and the brain weight were detected. Results: Compared with the AD model group, the average escape latency and swimming distance in 6 days were significantly shorter than those in the group A, B, D (P<0.01), with no significant differences between the group C and the group E (P>0.05); Compared with the group A, B and D, MDA content in the group C significantly increased (P<0.01), and SOD and GSH-Px activities significantly decreased (P<0.01), and brain weight/body weight decreased significantly in the group C (P<0.01), with no significant differences between the group C and the group E (P>0.05). Conclusion: Perfume stimultating olfaction with volatile oil of Acorus Gramineus can significantly increase the learning-memory ability, decrease MDA content and increase SOD and GSH-Px activities and weight of brain in AD rats. 展开更多
