In clinical environments,the prolonged utilization of polarization equipment can result in theaccumulation of errors over extended periods.The absence of expeditious calibration techniques in clinical practice presents a significant obstacle in preserving the precision and dependability of these instruments.To address this challenge,we propose an innovative research study that presents a comprebersive calibration system specifically designed for the calibration of the backscattering Muellet matrix measurement system,enabling swift online calibration acroes various scenarios.This system employs an external calibration framework for rmal-time adjust-ment of the polarizer's initial angle,oversecing the rotation of PSG and PSA motors through position measurement and control procedures,with light intensity monitored by a camera.By incorporating moment um concepts and the Adam optimization algorithm,we enhance conver-gence speed,mitigate noise,and improve calibration accuracy.Experimental results showcase the exceptional precision,speed,and robustness of oрroposed method,achieving high acсuracy and minimal error,thereby offering a promising solution for maintaining the reliabilit y of polarization equipment in clinical settings. 展开更多

Traditional calibration method for the digital inclinometer relies on manual inspection,and results in its disadvantages of complicated process,low-efficiency and human errors easy to be introduced.To improve both the calibration accuracy and efficiency of digital inclinometer,an automatic digital inclinometer calibration system was developed in this study,and a new display tube recognition algorithm was proposed.First,a high-precision automatic turntable was taken as the reference to calculate the indication error of the inclinometer.Then,the automatic inclinometer calibration control process and the digital inclinometer zero-setting function were formulated.For display tube recognition,a new display tube recognition algorithm combining threading method and feature extraction method was proposed.Finally,the calibration system was calibrated by photoelectric autocollimator and regular polygon mirror,and the calibration system error and repeatability were calculated via a series of experiments.The experimental results showed that the indication error of the proposed calibration system was less than 4",and the repeatability was 3.9".A digital inclinometer with the resolution of 0.1°was taken as a testing example,within the calibration points'range of[-90°,90°],the repeatability of the testing was 0.085°,and the whole testing process was less than 90 s.The digital inclinometer indication error is mainly introduced by the digital inclinometer resolution according to the uncertainty evaluation. 展开更多

To guarantee control system's performance and shorten the development cycle during the development process of hydraulic automatic transmission, a calibration system on CAN for high-pow- er AT ECU is designed based on XCP. In this system, it is possible that the master dynamically searching the slaves available on bus and data synchronization between master and slave is also achieved. Real-time measurement and on-line calibration can be executed during the running process of transmission control unit, so the calibration result is displayed in time. Calibration by true value and physical value are both available. Experimental results showed that this system operated stably and reliably and had strong timeout handling ability. 展开更多

The rising number of electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles and the decreasing time to market have led to the need for advanced methods of calibration. A multi-ECU calibration system was developed based on the explicit calibration protocol (XCP) and J1939 communication protocol to satisfy the need of calibrating multiple ECUs simultaneously. The messages in the controller area network (CAN) are defined in the J1939 protocol. Each CAN node can get its own calibration messages and information from other ECUs, and block other messages by qualifying the CAN messages with priority, source or destination address. The data field of the calibration message is designed with the XCP, with CAN acting as the transport layer. The calibration sessions are setup with the event-triggered XCP driver in the master node and the responding XCP driver in the slave nodes. Mirroring calibration variables from ROM to RAM enables the user to calibrate ECUs online. The application example shows that the multi-ECU calibration system can calibrate multiple ECUs simultaneously, and the main program can also accomplish its calculation and send commands to the actuators in time. By the multi-ECU calibration system, the calibration effort and time can be reduced and the variables in ECU can get a better match with the variables of other ECUs. 展开更多

An in situ calibration system is a versatile exploration instrument for electrochemical sensors investigating the biochemical properties of the marine environment. The purpose of this paper is to describe the design of an auto-calibrating system for electrochemical (pH) sensors, which permits two-point in situ calibration, suitable for long-term measurement in deep sea aqueous environments. Holding multiple sensors, the instrument is designed to perform long-term measurements and in situ calibrations at abyssal depth (up to 4000 m). The instrument is composed of a compact fluid control system which is pressure-equilibrated and designed for deep-sea operation. In situ calibration capability plays a key role in the quality and reproducibility of the data. This paper focuses on methods for extending the lifetime of the instrument, considering the fluidics design, mechanical design, and low-power consumption of the electronics controller. The instrument can last 46 d under normal operating conditions, fulfilling the need for long-term operation. Data concerning pH measured during the KNOX18RR cruise (Mid-Atlantic Ridge, July-August, 2008) illustrate the desirable properties of the instrument. Combined with different electrodes (pH, H2, H2S, etc.), it should be of great utility for the study of deep ocean environments, including water column and diffuse-flow hydrothermal fluids. 展开更多

The accurate measurement of a vehicle’s velocity is an essential feature in adaptive vehicle activated sign systems. Since the velocities of the vehicles are acquired from a continuous wave Doppler radar, the data collection becomes challenging. Data accuracy is sensitive to the calibration of the radar on the road. However, clear methodologies for in-field calibration have not been carefully established. The signs are often installed by subjective judgment which results in measurement errors. This paper develops a calibration method based on mining the data collected and matching individual vehicles travelling between two radars. The data was cleaned and prepared in two ways: cleaning and reconstructing. The results showed that the proposed correction factor derived from the cleaned data corresponded well with the experimental factor done on site. In addition, this proposed factor showed superior performance to the one derived from the reconstructed data. 展开更多

Calibration of a multiwavelength co-phase measurement system for a segmented solar telescope

The segmented solar telescope described in this study employs a simultaneous dual-wavelength measurement technique to achieve co-phase alignment.To meet the measurement requirements of a 20μm range,5 nm root mean square precision,and edge jump rates of<10^(−6),this study focused on calibrating the dual-wavelength measurement system for the segmented-mirror solar telescope.Analysis of the relative error in the measurement system revealed that assembly-induced errors such as defocus,translation,scaling,and rotation markedly degrade measurement accuracy.To address these issues,we propose a defocus error compensation algorithm,based on the light intensity distribution of the point spread function(PSF)and an affine transformation model,to calibrate spatial pose deviations across the two measurement channels.A dual-wavelength measurement system was implemented on a segmented-mirror experimental platform for calibration.Experimental results demonstrated that the mean relative error decreased from−0.6423 to−0.0345 nm after calibration,reflecting improved reliability and stability of the co-phase measurements. 展开更多

To address the installation challenges of a 2-m ring Gregorian telescope system,and similar optical systems with a small width-to-radius ratio,we propose a detection method combining local interferometry with a comparison model.This method enhances the precision of system calibration by establishing a dataset that delineates the relationship between secondary mirror misalignment and wavefront aberration,subsequently inferring the misalignment from interferometric detection results during the calibration process.For the 2-m ring telescope,we develop a detection model using five local sub-apertures,enabling a root-mean-square detection accuracy of 0:0225λ(λ=632:8 nm)for full-aperture wavefront aberration.The calibration results for the 2-m Ring Solar Telescope system indicate that the root-mean-square value of sub-aperture wavefront aberration reaches 0.104λ,and the root-mean-square value of spliced full-aperture measurement yields reaches 0.112λ.This method offers a novel approach for calibrating small width-toradius ratio telescope systems and can be applied to the calibration of other irregular-aperture optical systems. 展开更多

Vector magnetic measurement is increasingly widely used.In order to improve the accuracy of vector magnetic measurement system on board a vehicle,researchers have proposed various calibration methods.Most of them require altering the magnetic vector in the vehicle coordinate system.Exploring the use of geomagnetic variation to change the geomagnetic vector in the vehicle coordinate system,this paper proposes a novel vector magnetic measurement calibration method.In this method,a vector magnetometer mounted on a vehicle and an accurate vector magnetometer separately measure the geomagnetic field at diff erent locations within the same area.Based on the physical principle that the geomagnetic variation at two nearby locations is equal,the calibration parameters of the magnetometer on the vehicle can be determined through a set of equations containing the measurements from the two magnetometers.The theoretical derivation and simulation experiment results demonstrate the feasibility of this method.Therefore,it can serve as a new alternative calibration method,especially in scenarios where a high degree of accuracy in the estimation of calibration parameters is not required. 展开更多

The two-dimensional grating serves as a critical component in plane grating interferometers for achieving high-precision multidimensional displacement measurements.The calibration of grating groove density and orthogonality error of grating grooves not only improves the positioning accuracy of grating interferometers but also provides essential feedback for optimizing two-dimensional grating fabrication.This study proposes a method for simultaneous calibration of these parameters using orthogonal heterodyne laser interferometry.A two-dimensional grating interferometer is built with the grating to be measured,and a biaxial laser interferometer provides a displacement reference for it.The phase mapping relationship between grating interference and laser interference is established.The interference phase information obtained by any two displacements can simultaneously solve the above three parameters and obtain the grating installation error.The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by using a 1200 gr/mm two-dimensional grating.The standard deviation of the grating groove density in the X and Y directions is 0.012 gr/mm and 0.014 gr/mm,respectively.The standard deviation of the orthogonality error of grating grooves is 0.004°,and the standard deviation of the installation error is 0.002°.Compared with the atomic force microscope method,the consistency of the grating groove density in the X and Y directions is better than 0.03 gr/mm and 0.06 gr/mm,and the orthogonality error of grating grooves is better than 0.008°.The experimental results show that the proposed method can be simply and efficiently applied to the calibration of the grating line parameters of the two-dimensional grating. 展开更多

This study investigates the reduction in polarization measurement accuracy caused by varying in-cident angles in a liquid crystal variable retarder(LCVR).The phase delay characteristics of the LCVR were examined,with particular emphasis on the influence of different two-dimensional incident angles on phase delay behavior.Building upon the calibration of phase delay under normal incidence,a phase delay calibra-tion model was developed to account for variations in incident angle and driving voltage.A mathematical re-lationship was established between phase delay and the azimuth angle(α)and pitch angle(β).Experimental validation was conducted under three conditions:α=20°,β=0°;α=0°,β=20°;and an arbitrary angle whereα=5°,β=15°.The results demonstrated that the maximum average deviation between theoretical pre-dictions and experimental measurements did not exceed 0.059 rad.The proposed calibration method proved to be both accurate and practical.This approach offers robust support for LCVR parameter calibration and performance optimization in optical systems,particularly in polarization imaging applications. 展开更多

LiDAR and camera are two of the most common sensors used in the fields of robot perception,autonomous driving,augmented reality,and virtual reality,where these sensors are widely used to perform various tasks such as odometry estimation and 3D reconstruction.Fusing the information from these two sensors can significantly increase the robustness and accuracy of these perception tasks.The extrinsic calibration between cameras and LiDAR is a fundamental prerequisite for multimodal systems.Recently,extensive studies have been conducted on the calibration of extrinsic parameters.Although several calibration methods facilitate sensor fusion,a comprehensive summary for researchers and,especially,non-expert users is lacking.Thus,we present an overview of extrinsic calibration and discuss diverse calibration methods from the perspective of calibration system design.Based on the calibration information sources,this study classifies these methods as target-based or targetless.For each type of calibration method,further classification was performed according to the diverse types of features or constraints used in the calibration process,and their detailed implementations and key characteristics were introduced.Thereafter,calibration-accuracy evaluation methods are presented.Finally,we comprehensively compare the advantages and disadvantages of each calibration method and suggest directions for practical applications and future research. 展开更多

Microelectromechanical systems(MEMS)technology has gained significant attention over the past decade for measuring inertial angular velocity.However,due to inherent complexity,MEMS gyroscopes typically feature up to ten times more parameters than traditional sensors,making selection a challenging task even for experts.This study addresses this challenge,focusing on defensive guidance,navigation,and control(GNC)systems where precise and reliable angular velocity measurement is critical to overall performance.A comprehensive mathematical model is introduced to encapsulate all key MEMS parameters,accompanied by discussions on calibration and Allan variance interpretation.For six leading MEMS gyroscope applications,namely inertial navigation,integrated navigation,autopilot systems,rotating projectiles,homing guidance,and north finding,the most critical parameters are identified,distinguishing suitable and unsuitable sensor choices.Special emphasis is placed on inertial navigation systems,where practical rules of thumb for error evaluation are derived using six degrees of freedom motion equations.Rigorous simulations demonstrate the influence of various sensor parameters through real-world case studies,including static navigation,multi-rotor attitude estimation,gimbal stabilization,and north finding via a turntable.This work aims to be a beacon for practitioners across diverse fields,empowering them to make more informed design decisions. 展开更多

In data communication,limited communication resources often lead to measurement bias,which adversely affects subsequent system estimation if not effectively handled.This paper proposes a novel bias calibration algorithm under communication constraints to achieve accurate system states of the interested system.An output-based event-triggered scheme is first employed to alleviate transmission burden.Accounting for the limited-communication-induced measurement bias,a novel bias calibration algorithm following the Kalman filtering line is developed to restrain the effect of the measurement bias on system estimation,thereby achieving accurate system state estimates.Subsequently,the Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)implementation of the proposed algorithm is also realized with the hope of providing fast bias calibration in practical scenarios.A simulation about a numerical example and a practical example(for gyroscope’s angular velocity bias calibration)on MATLAB is provided to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

Large-volume presses(LVPs)are widely utilized in diverse research fields—including high-pressure physics,chemistry,materials science,and Earth and planetary sciences—to investigate the physical and chemical properties of materials under extreme high-pressure and hightemperature conditions.A prerequisite for achieving reproducible property measurements is the determination and control of pressure within experimental setups.However,the lack of precise pressure calibration in LVPs hinders the broader application of such devices in ultrahigh-pressure studies.This study employs a suite of standard phase transition-based pressure markers—comprising metallic conductors,semiconductors,and minerals—through both in situ and ex situ identification approaches,to establish pressure calibration curves ranging from 0.4 to>30 GPa for various types of LVP installed at the Center for High Pressure Science and Technology Advanced Research(HPSTAR),Beijing,including piston–cylinder,cubic,and multi-anvil presses.The results provide a unified and traceable pressure reference for highpressure experiments conducted at HPSTAR,while also offering technical guidance and calibration standards for other researchers utilizing similar LVP systems,thereby enabling more consistent comparison between different laboratories.This work facilitates the advancement of LVP research toward broader applications in higher-pressure regimes. 展开更多

With the widespread adoption of digital equipment in intelligent substations,testing digital signals in power systems has become an important role for relay protection test equipment.Testing and calibrating digital signals require high accuracy.However,existing methods have low precision,cannot be calibrated at full range for all indexes,and have complex configuration,making them unsuitable for routine calibration work.To solve the above problems,a novel calibration method is designed and implemented using field programmable gate array(FPGA)to achieve accurate input and output time control.Accurate calibration relies on multiple forms of traceability including theoretical value traceability based on waveform comparison,time scale value traceability based on accurate time stamps,and algorithm traceability based on typical algorithms.Compared with other existing methods,the proposed approach reduces the mean absolute error of action time and time measurement by 92.88%,effectively addressing a key industry challenge and offering a valuable reference for further research,application,and standardization. 展开更多

We present the preparation and measurement of the radioactive isotope^(37)Ar,which was produced using thermal neutrons from a reactor,as a calibration source for liquid xenon time projection chambers.^(37)Ar is a low-energy calibration source with a half-life of 35.01 days,making it suitable for calibration in the low-energy region of liquid xenon dark-matter experiments.Radioactive isotope^(37)Ar was produced by irradiating ^(36)Ar with thermal neutrons.It was subsequently measured in a gaseous xenon time projection chamber(GXe TPC)to validate its radioactivity.Our results demonstrate that^(37)Ar is an effective and viable calibration source that offers precise calibration capabilities in the low-energy domain of xenon-based detectors. 展开更多

To address crop depredation by intelligent species(e.t,macaques)and the habituation from traditional methods,this study proposes an intelligent,closed-loop,adaptive laser deterrence system.A core contribution is an efficient multi-stage Semi-Supervised Learning(SSL)and incremental fine-tuning(IFT)framework,which reduced manual annotation by~60%and training time by~68%.This framework was benchmarked against YOLOv8n,v10n,and v11n.Our analysis revealed that YOLOv12n’s high Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR)(47.1%retention)pseudo-labels made it the onlymodel to gain performance(+0.010mAP)fromSSL,allowing it to overtake competitors.Subsequently,in the IFT stress test,YOLOv12n proved most robust(a minimal−0.019 mAP decline),whereas YOLOv10n suffered catastrophic failure(−0.233mAP),highlighting its incompatibility with IFT.Thefinalmodel achieved high performance(mAP@0.5 of 0.947 for macaques,0.946 for laser spots).In Multi-Object Tracking(MOT),this study quantitatively confirms that Bottom-Up Tracking by Sorting(BoT-SORT)(1.88 s avg.tracklet lifetime)significantly outperforms ByteTrack(0.81 s)in identity preservation for visually similar macaques.System integration achieved 480 Frames Per Second(FPS)real-time inference on edge devices.A quadratic polynomial fittingmodel ensured high-precision aiming(RMSE<2 pixels;best 1.2 pixels)by compensating for distortion.To fundamentally solve habituation,an adaptive strategy driven by a Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient(DDPG)framework was introduced.By using a habituation penalty term(Rhabituation)to force unpredictable sequences,theDDPGstrategy achieved a stable 88%average Intrusion Frequency Reduction Rate(IFRR)in field experiments,suppressing habituation in highly intelligent species.This study develops an efficient,precise,low-cost,and habituation-resistant automated wildlife defense system. 展开更多

In order to improve the frequency and precision of radiometric calibration, the automated vicarious calibration system(AVCS) is developed and deployed at the Dunhuang test site to perform vicarious calibration without the in situ manned measurements. The surface and atmospheric parameters are automatically collected by AVCS.An absolute radiometric calibration approach based on AVCS is proposed. Six successful calibrations of the Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) are conducted. The results are in good agreement with the on-board calibration system with all the relative differences less than 4%. It enables us to monitor the change of a sensor over long time scales. 展开更多
