The substitution of TiO_(2)for SiO_(2)in Y_(2)O_(3)-Li_(2)O-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)(YLAS)glass-ceramics significantly altered their crystallization behavior and properties.Introducing TiO_(2)reduced the glass transition temperature while increasing the crystallization peak temperature and lowering activation energy,which facilitated crystallization.The crystal growth shifted from three-dimensional to two-dimensional,and the primary phases transitioned from Al_(9.83)Zr_(0.17)and Y_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)to Y_(4.67)(SiO_(4))_(3)O,though crystal morphology remained unchanged.Grain size increased with higher crystallization temperatures.Mechanically,Vickers hardness slightly decreased(from 796 to 784 Hv),while bending strength improved(from 141 to 146 MPa),suggesting that TiO_(2)enhanced toughness without compromising structural integrity.The strength of the glass can be further improved through two-step ion exchange,but excessive crystallization can lead to cracks on the glass surface due to excessive surface compressive stress,resulting in a decrease in bending strength.These findings provide critical insights for optimizing YLAS glass-ceramics for advanced applications. 展开更多

Lead-free glass-ceramic composites in barium sodium niobate silica system with Gd2O3 addition were synthesized through melt-casting fol-lowed by controlled crystallization technique. Crystallization and dielectric properties of the Gd2O3 adding glass-ceramic composites were investigated. With the increase in the concentration of Gd2O3, the glass transition temperature and the crystallization temperature of the pre-cursor glass shift towards the higher temperature. The crystallization behavior that occurred during the heat treatment procedure leads to the enhancement of dielectric constant. All the three compositions of glass-ceramic composites exhibit ferroelectricity when tested at room tem-perature. Both the values of the remanent polarization and coercive field are enhanced regularly with the gradual increase in the concentration of Gd2O3 additive under the same testing field. 展开更多

Li_(2)O-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)(LAS)glass-ceramics were prepared by a melting method.Effects of different Al_(2)O_(3)content on the structure,crystallization,transmittance and fracture toughness of LAS glassceramics were investigated by means of XRD,FESEM and other methods as well.The results showed that the glass transition temperature and crystallization temperature of samples increased as the content of Al_(2)O_(3)increased from 4.1 wt%to 13.1 wt%,which restrained the precipitation of lithium disilicate crystals.The main crystalline phase of glass-ceramics transformed from lithium disilicate and petalite to silicon dioxide,which reduced the fracture toughness of glass-ceramics.When the Al_(2)O_(3)content was 7.1 wt%,the specimen had outstanding transmittance and fracture toughness.The transmittance was 90.32%.The fracture toughness was 1.13 MPa•m^(1/2).Compared with high-alumina glass,the fracture toughness of the glass-ceramic was greatly improved,and it could be used as a new type of protective material for mobile devices. 展开更多

The structure and dielectric properties of (Pb,Sr)Nb2O6-NaNbO3-SiO2 glass-ceramics with different Pb and Sr contents were investigated. The XRD pattern of glass-ceramics without Sr substitution is different from that with Sr substitution, which indicates the existence of orthorhombic phase in the latter ones. TEM bright field observation shows nanosized microstructures, while for samples with Sr, typical eutectic microstrncture with separated crystallized bands is found in the glass matrix. Dielectric properties measurement of the samples indicates an obvious improvement of dielectric constant, dielectric loss, DC field and temperature dependence of dielectric constant when the molar ratio of Sr to Pb is 4:6. 展开更多

The Li_(2)O-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2) (LAS) glass-ceramics with low lithium content were prepared from spodumene mineral by melting method.XRD,DSC,and FTIR were used to study the crystallization process and structure of the samples.The results showed that the addition of Na_(2)O promoted the precipitation of β-quartz solid solution and its transformation to β-spodumene solid solution.Mechanical performance tests and FESEM indicated that the larger grain size and inhomogeneous grain dispersion caused by the increase of Na_(2)O content led to lower mechanical properties.In addition,low expansion glass-ceramics were prepared by an appropriate heat treatment according to DSC result,and when Na_(2)O content was in the range of 1.22 wt% to 2.41 wt%,the average coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) (30-300 ℃) increased from-5.810 ×10^(-7 )to 5.322×10^(-7)℃^(-1). 展开更多

The microstructure of CaO-P_2O_5-SiO_2-MgO-F^- glass-ceramics duringcrystallization were investigated and the crystallized phases were identified with DTA (DifferentialThermal Analysis), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and XRD (X- ray Diffraction) techniques. Themechanical properties such as bending strength and fracture toughness, as well as their changes withadvancing crystallization were determined. The results show that the changes of the mechanicalproperties are correlated with the microstructures. The sample heated up to 810 deg C and soaked for4 h has smaller crystalline size and less volum fraction of fluorophlogopite, so it has higherbending strength (about 190 MPa), and higher crack toughness (about 2.63 MPa centre dot m^1/2). 展开更多

The X-ray diffraction was used to test the stress value of different samples. The relation of the cooling system and internal stress were also investigated. The experimental results show that the stress of glass-ceramic had a close relation with starting cool temperature. Above 800 ~C, glass-ceramic could be accelerated cooling and did not bring stress. Temperature between 500 ℃ and 800℃ was an important temperature range of the formation of stress in glass-ceramic, in which the glass-ceramic stress would change obviously. Cool system was the key on how to control and eliminate internal stress in order to reduce the destroy of materials crated by internal stress. ZrO2, TiO2 and P2O5 were doped in CaO-B2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics as nucleating additives. Effects of different nucleating additives on the phase separation and crystalline behaviors were investigated by using gradient temperature furnace, DTA and XRD. Then, sintering process of the glass-ceramics was investigated by testing sintering shrinkage, dielectric constant and loss. The experimental results shows that the glass-ceramics doped with nucleating additives represents higher crystallization, with ZrO2 as an exceptional effective dopant to promote the precipitation of wollastonite crystal. Finally, ZrO2 containing glass-ceramics was chosen to study the influence of sintering temperature and soaking time with the help of X-ray diffraction analysis and density measurement. The glass-ceramics can be well consolidated at 850 ℃ for 10 min, with low dielectric constant (5.87) and loss (3.21×10^-4), which is desirable for LTCC application. 展开更多

The structure and properties of the glass-ceramics were tested with X-ray diffraction testing instrument,correlative software,and other modern testing means.Then the effect of Al2O3 content on internal stresses in CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics was studied deeply.In order to study the relationship of Al2O3 to the residual stress of CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics,X-ray diffraction "sin2ψ" was used.The means utilized the x radial incidence produced from cathode radial tube,and took the space between crystals as measurement of strain.When the stresses produced,the space between crystals changed and the diffraction peak moved during Bragg diffraction.The magnitude of movement is related to the stresses.The experimental results show the residual stress is considerably high and Al2O3 can influence the mechanical properties of this material hugely. 展开更多

SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 glasses with different nucleating agents were crystallized under special processing schedule. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the glass-ceramics in SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 system were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and three-point bending method. The results show that ZrO2 is not an effective nucleating agent in SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 system, while TiO2 is effective for the separation of spinel, and P2O5 facilitates solubility of ZrO2 in glass and crystallization. The main crystalline phases of the glass-ceramics are spinel, anorthite and tetragonal zirconia. With the increase of ZrO2 content in the glass, glass-ceramics show higher bending strength (120MPa) than others. 展开更多

X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were applied for characterization of Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramic powders doped with Eu2O3,Gd2O3 and Er2O3,respectively,in the conditions of different heat-treatment temperatures and with various amounts.The powders were derived from the polyacrylamide gel method.The results show that,the wet gels prepared by polyacrylamide perform a unique crystallization behavior in the process of drying,comparing with some customary preparation such as melt processing.The main crystal phase and crystallization sequence of Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 micro-powders have no distinct with addition of Eu2O3,Gd2O3 or Er2O3,while the crystallization temperature of the β-spodumene decreased and the amount of the β-spodumene increased. 展开更多

A lithium ion conductive solid electrolyte, L20-AI203-TiO2-SiO2-P20s glass with NASICON- type structure have been synthesized and transformed into glass-ceramic through thermal-treatment at various temperatures from 700 to 1 000 ~C for 12 h. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and complex impedance techniques were employed to characterize the samples. The experimental results indicated that the capability of glass forming in this system is superior to that of L20-A1203-TiO2-PzO~. The glass has an amorphous structure and resultant glass-ceramic mainly consisting of LiTi2(PO4)3 phases. Impurity phases AIPO4, TiO2, TiP207 and unidentified phase were observed. With the enhanced heat-treatment temperature, grain grew gradually and lithium ion conductivity of glass-ceramics increased accordingly, the related impedance semicircles were depressed gradually and even disappeared, which could be analytically explained by the coordinate action of the 'Constant phase element' (CPE) model and the 'Concept of Mismatch and Relaxation' model (CMR). When the sample is devitrified at 1 000 ~C, the maximum room temperature lithium ion conductivity comes up to 4.1 x 10-4 S/cm, which is suitable for the application as an electrolyte of all-solid-state lithium batteries. 展开更多

Different mass percenta- ges of TiO2 were added to four samples of the parent glass made from stainless steel slag and cullet. The tempera- tures of nucleation and crystallization were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). According to X- ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis, adding TiO2 refined grains and restricted the formation of the akermanite phase by capturing Ca2+ to form the perovskite phase. Diopside was the main crystal phase of the glass-ceramics. The bending strength and Vickers hardness increased with the addition of TiO2. The optimal amount of TiO2 was 7 mass%, and the highest bending strength and Vickers hardness were 144.6 MPa and 6.26 GPa, respectively. 展开更多

ZrO2 has an unfavourable effect on sintering shrinkage ratio of glass particles. The sintering shrinkage ratio of glass particles increases with the increase of sintering temperature. The increase of sintering temperature favors the decrease of the liquid phase viscosity of glass particles. ZrO2 has little effect on crystallization of main crystalline phase (β-wollastonite). To research the structure radiation stability of simulated Gd2Zr2O7-pyrochlore glass-ceramic wasteforms Nd3+, Ce4+ were selected as the simulated nuclide of An3+ and An4+ radionuclides respectively. A series of compounds with the general formula Gd2-xNdxZr2-xCexO7 (0.0≤ x ≤2.0) were prepared by High-temperature sintering method at 1623 K for 48 h in air atmosphere. The heavy-ion irradiation experiments were done at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The structure and microscopic morphology of Gd2-xNdxZr2-xCexO7 (0.0≤ x ≤2.0) glass-ceramic wasteforms before and after irradiation experiments were investigated by the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. 展开更多

Crystallization and Luminescence Properties of Sm3+-Doped SrO-Al2O3-SiO2 Glass-Ceramics

The Sm^(3+)-doped SrO-Al2O3-SiO2(SAS) glass-ceramics with excellent luminescence properties were prepared by batch melting and heat treatment. The crystallization behavior and luminescent properties of the glass-ceramics were investigated by DTA, XRD, SEM and luminescence spectroscopy. The results indicate that the crystal phase precipitated in this system is monocelsian(SrAl2Si2O) and with the increase of nucleation/crystallization temperature, the crystallite increases from 66 % to 79 %. The Sm(3+)-doped SAS glass-ceramics emit green, orange and red lights centered at 565, 605, 650 and 715 nm under the excitation of 475 nm blue light which can be assigned to the 4 G5/2→6 Hj/2(j=5, 7, 9, 11) transitions ofSm^(3+), respectively. Besides, by increasing the crystallization temperature or the concentration ofSm^(3+), the emission lights of the samples located at 565, 605 and 650 nm are intensified significantly. The present results demonstrate that theSm^(3+)-doped SAS glassceramics are promising luminescence materials for white LED devices by fine controlling and combining of these three green, orange and red lights in appropriate proportion. 展开更多
