HI patients may suffer from numerous clinical manifestations, but the expression of the disease is highly variable. Ophthalmologic, musculoskeletal, neurologic, and dental anomalies may be associated with the syndrome. The dental abnormalities found in HI include talon cusps, a single maxillary central in-cisor, enamel defects, hypodontia, and irregularly spaced teeth. The aim of this case report is to present multiple talon cusps, dens in dente and concrescence of maxillary permanent incisors in an 8-year-old boy affected with hypomelanosis of Ito. This unusual dental anomaly has been described in two previous reports of this neurocutaneous syndrome. HI can be difficult to diagnose, these dental findings may help to identify the syndrome in cases where other findings are minimal or atypical.展开更多
A high-frequency,high-resolution shore-based video monitoring system(VMS)was installed on a macrotidal(tidal amplitude>4 m)beach with multiple cusps along the Quanzhou coast,China.Herein,we propose a video imagery-...A high-frequency,high-resolution shore-based video monitoring system(VMS)was installed on a macrotidal(tidal amplitude>4 m)beach with multiple cusps along the Quanzhou coast,China.Herein,we propose a video imagery-based method that is coupled with waterline and water level observations to reconstruct the terrain of the intertidal zone over one tidal cycle.Furthermore,the beach cusp system(BCS)was precisely processed and embedded into the digital elevation model(DEM)to more effectively express the microrelief and detailed characteristics of the intertidal zone.During a field experiment conducted in January 2022,the reconstructed DEM was deemed satisfactory.The DEM was verified by RTK-GPS and had an average vertical root mean square error along corresponding RTK-GPS-derived intertidal profiles and corresponding BCS points of 0.134 m and 0.065 m,respectively.The results suggest that VMSs are an effective tool for investigating coastal geomorphic processes.展开更多
In this paper,we focus on peaked traveling wave solutions of the modified highly nonlinear Novikov equation by dynamical systems approach.We obtain a traveling wave system which is a singular planar dynamical system w...In this paper,we focus on peaked traveling wave solutions of the modified highly nonlinear Novikov equation by dynamical systems approach.We obtain a traveling wave system which is a singular planar dynamical system with three singular straight lines,and derive all possible phase portraits under corresponding parameter conditions.Then we show the existence and dynamics of two types of peaked traveling wave solutions including peakons and periodic cusp wave solutions.The exact explicit expressions of two peakons are given.Besides,we also derive smooth solitary wave solutions,periodic wave solutions,compacton solutions,and kink-like(antikink-like)solutions.Numerical simulations are further performed to verify the correctness of the results.Most importantly,peakons and periodic cusp wave solutions are newly found for the equation,which extends the previous results.展开更多

A new magnetic field configuration is proposed by introducing a cusped field to the helicon plasma thruster(HPT),and the effects of the cusped field on the discharge characteristics of the HPT are investigated.The exp...A new magnetic field configuration is proposed by introducing a cusped field to the helicon plasma thruster(HPT),and the effects of the cusped field on the discharge characteristics of the HPT are investigated.The experimental results show that the thruster can still achieve a stable W mode discharge with the additional cusped field,while the discharge conditions have been changed so that a higher RF power is required to achieve the W mode under the same experimental conditions.However,the ion density in the plume region is increased by at least one order of magnitude and the ion flux density is increased by a factor of 4 to 5.The ionization enhancement is attributed to the change in magnetic field configuration,which improves the energy coupling efficiency and the ability to confine charged particles(particularly electrons).This magnetic confinement could employ more electrons to ionize the working medium atoms,and the ionization rate is enhanced.The increase in ion density leads to a reduction in the energy available for ion acceleration,resulting in a slight decrease in ion energy.展开更多

Movement of any control vertex affects three curve segments. This paper is the succession and development of reference of Tang Yuehong. We analyze the geometric features like cusps and inflection points in the curve and calculate the cusps and inflection points, then give a necessary and sufficient condition to the inflection points in the curve when it is non degenerative, and finally show that the curves have no cusps in the interval (0,1). The result shows t...A statistical study of interhemispheric comparison of dipole tilt angle effect on the latitude of the mid-altitude cusp is preformed by a data set of the Cluster cusp crossings over a 5-year period. The result shows that the dipole tilt angle has a clear control of the cusp latitudinal location. When the dipole tilts sunwards, the cusp is shifted poleward. The northern cusp moves 1° ILAT for every 15.4° increase in the dipole tilt angle, while the southern cusp moves 1° ILAT for every 20.8° increase in the dipole tilt angle. This suggests that an interhemispheric difference appears in the dependence of cusp latitudinal location on the dipole tilt angle.展开更多
