Background:The use of skincare cosmetics can enhance human skin integrity,appearance,and conditions.However,consumers nowadays are quite concerned about the efficacy of skincare cosmetics,particularly those with antio...Background:The use of skincare cosmetics can enhance human skin integrity,appearance,and conditions.However,consumers nowadays are quite concerned about the efficacy of skincare cosmetics,particularly those with antioxidant properties that can improve skin tone and skin health.Previous studies also reported that volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in skincare cosmetics could have beneficial effects on human skin.Objective:This research aims to evaluate the antioxidant properties of CHARMS^(TM)skincare cosmetics as well as to investigate the presence of VOCs that could influence their skin tone improvement properties.Material and methods:The CHARMS^(TM)products used were cleanser,toner,essence,serum,moisturizer,scrub,and night cream.The skin tone improvement was assessed on 20 female volunteers’facial skin by using a colorimeter.The antioxidant properties were evaluated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)free radical scavenging assay,total phenolic content(TPC),and total flavonoid content(TFC).Meanwhile,the VOCs were measured using an electronic nose based on gas chromatography(e-nose-GC).Results:The findings show that skin tone was improved significantly by 3.23%in which the skin becomes lighter while skin redness was reduced by 5.75%after using the CHARMS^(TM)skincare cosmetics.The results also show that the cleanser(21.55±0.23%)and the serum(23.60±0.19%)had the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity.Contrarily,the moisturizer exhibited the highest TPC value(324.14±17.47 mg GAE/g),and the cleanser had the highest TFC value(24.68±1.57 mg QE/g).The VOCs detected in these skincare cosmetics such as limonene andγ-terpinene may have skin-lightening effects.Conclusion:It can be concluded that the tested products from CHARMS^(TM)skincare cosmetics comply with the standard regulations and guidelines for Control of Cosmetic Products in Malaysia and can be used effectively as a daily skincare routine.展开更多
With the improvement of people’s living standards and the demand for their own health,plant-derived cosmetics containing plant extracts or plant active ingredients are also more and more favored by consumers.In fact,...With the improvement of people’s living standards and the demand for their own health,plant-derived cosmetics containing plant extracts or plant active ingredients are also more and more favored by consumers.In fact,the research on plant-derived cosmetics has a history of centuries and even over 1,000 years both domestically and internationally.In order to further analyze the domestic and international research hotspots and future trends in the research field of plant-derived cosmetics,the relevant literatures from China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)database,Wanfang database,Vip database and Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC)database from January 1994 to June 2024 were chosen as research objects in this paper.The authors,countries,research institutions and key words of the selected 1,415 Chinese papers and 1,927 English papers were visually analysed using the bibliometric software CiteSpace and VOSviewer.The results show that the number of publications shows an increasing trend;the communication and cooperation between core authors and between research institutions of the publicationare are both weak;the research hotspots mainly focus on natural plants,Chinese herbs,active ingredients,and whitening;and future research trends may include green synthesis,efficacy application,health and safety,etc.This study aims to grasp the hot spots and trends in the field of plant-derived cosmetics,and to provide ideas and references for the relevant research in China in the future.展开更多
A high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method has been developed using a CAPCELL PAK ADME(150 mm×4.6 mm,5μm)as analytical column and a gradient elution with 15 min using acetonitrile and 0.1%(in volume fr...A high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method has been developed using a CAPCELL PAK ADME(150 mm×4.6 mm,5μm)as analytical column and a gradient elution with 15 min using acetonitrile and 0.1%(in volume fraction)phosphoric acid water(pH=2.2)as the mobile phase.Three active substances in cosmetics were quantitatively detected simultaneously at a detection wavelength of 265 nm.The linear ranges of β-nicotinamide mononucleotides,ergothioneine and nicotinamide are 10~200 mg/L,5~100 mg/L and 5~100 mg/L respectively and the detection limits of three components are 3.0 mg/L,1.5 mg/L and 1.5 mg/L respectively.The recovery rate is 97.1~104.9%,with RSD≤2.0%.The method was applied to quantitative analysis of five samples of cosmetics toner,lotion,cream,essence and gel and three samples of raw materials.The results showed that the results of β-nicotinamide mononucleotide and ergothioneine in five cosmetics were consistent with the product label,while nicotinamide was inconsistent with the label.The purity of the three raw material samples was 99.5%,99.7% and 100.8%respectively.This method offers high precision,accuracy and short analysis time,making it a reliable approach for studying three active ingredients in cosmetics and suitable for quality control of related functional ingredients.展开更多

To study the efficacy of lip moisturizing cosmetics and explore the methods for evaluating their efficacy.The claimed efficacy and number of claimed efficacy of 44 lip moisturizing cosmetics were investigated,and a co...To study the efficacy of lip moisturizing cosmetics and explore the methods for evaluating their efficacy.The claimed efficacy and number of claimed efficacy of 44 lip moisturizing cosmetics were investigated,and a combination of in vitro and human testing was used to evaluate the efficacy of the lip moisturizing cosmetics.The efficacy claims of lip cosmetics mainly included 4 categories of moisturizing,repairing,soothing and anti-wrinkle,with 79.55%of the products claiming 3~4 categories of efficacy.In the in vitro test,the cell morphology of the skin damage model improved and the secretion of pro-inflammatory factors decreased significantly.In the human trial,the water content,skin softness and brightness L value of the cuticle of the lips increased significantly in 31 subjects,and the transepidermal water loss,redness a value,and the area and volume of lip wrinkles decreased significantly;the dryness of the lip skin and the uniformity of the skin texture improved significantly.The dryness of lip skin and the uniformity of skin texture were significantly improved.The results show that the moisture content of the stratum corneum can be used to evaluate the moisturizing efficacy of lip products.The transepidermal water loss,skin color,skin softness and expert assessment can be used to evaluate the repairing efficacy.The observation of cell morphology of skin damage models and the detection of pro-inflammatory factor content can be used to evaluate the soothing efficacy.The area and volume of lip wrinkles can be used to evaluate the anti-wrinkle efficacy of products.展开更多
This article is based on data analysis from 2012 to 2019 of imported non-special-use cosmetics registration quantity,special-use cosmetics registration quantity,children's cosmetics registration quantity,etc.And a...This article is based on data analysis from 2012 to 2019 of imported non-special-use cosmetics registration quantity,special-use cosmetics registration quantity,children's cosmetics registration quantity,etc.And also based on the Regulation on Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics(Draft),and so on.This article will briefly discuss the influence of the new trend of Chinese cosmetics regulations on the development of the cosmetics industry.According to data analysis,the pre-market approval process for cosmetics is closely related to the annual increase in the new product registrations quantity.Since March 1st,2017,the reform of the imported non-special-use cosmetics registration was first initiated in Pudong New Area in Shanghai,the imported cosmetics registration quantity has increased significantly,so as the non-special-use children’s registration.Under the background of no obvious change in the pre-marketing approval process of imported special-use cosmetics,there is no significant increase in the quantity of annual registration.Among the nine categories of special-use cosmetics,sunscreen and whitening cosmetics accounted for the highest proportion,followed by hair dyeing.For the hair-growing,breast beauty,fitness categories of special-use cosmetics,the registration quantity each year was very low due to the low approval rate,long approval process and high testing costs,etc.According to the new trend of Chinese cosmetics regulations,the idea of cosmetics supervision and administration is changing from focusing on pre-market approval procedures to focusing on post-market surveillance.展开更多

文摘Natural products have attracted wide attention in the cosmetics market due to their safety and high efficiency.As a highly active substance in nature,natural polysaccharides have been reported in recent years to have various cosmetic activities such as moisturizing,whitening,anti-aging and repairing skin,and are becoming a hot research topic in the cosmetics industry.At present,the mechanism of polysaccharide exerting cosmetic activity has been widely studied,but the relationship between polysaccharide’s chemical structure and cosmetic activity has not been effectively analyzed,which leads to the limitation of polysaccharide development.In this review,the mechanism of polysaccharides exerting cosmetic activities such as moisturizing,whitening,anti-aging and skin repair was introduced.The potential relationship between the structure and activity of polysaccharides was summarized by analyzing the influence of physical and chemical properties of polysaccharides,such as extraction method,molecular weight,monosaccharide composition,functional group and structural modification,etc.,which laid a foundation for the analysis of the structure-activity relationship of polysaccharides and improved its cosmetic value.
文摘Skin aging is a direct manifestation of body aging,representing a complex and irreversible natural process,which is influenced by genetics,lifestyle and environmental factors.In the process of skin aging,the skin epidermis gradually become thinner,the inherent repair ability gradually weakens,the collagen and elastin gradually decrease and the skin gradually loses elasticity.Although skin aging is inevitable,it can be delayed to some extent by using cosmetics.Natural extract cosmetics are highly favored by consumers for their safety and efficacy,aligning with consumer preferences for natural,organic,efficient and sustainable skincare concepts.Numerous plant resources in nature possess superior properties like moisturizing,barrier repair,anti-oxidation,sunscreen whitening and anti-inflammatory properties after thousands of years of natural selection.These properties enable plant components to effectively enhance the anti-aging effects of skincare products through multiple anti-aging pathways,which can be widely used to develop natural anti-aging skin care products.
文摘Cosmetic safety assessment has distinct characteristics of interdisciplinary and extensive intersection,intensive technical knowledge,and high professional requirements.China is confronted with problems such as a lack of professional safety assessment personnel and review personnel for cosmetic safety assessment.The compliance of safety assessment reports has become one of the important factors affecting the process of cosmetic filing and listing.This article contains the comprehensive analysis on the requirements of relevant regulations and technical documents for cosmetic safety assessment,as well as the judgment principles,and specific requirements of safety assessment reports.The key issues in current cosmetic safety assessment and the safety assessment requirements for typical products also are being focused on,so as to help standardize and unify the review standards of cosmetic safety assessment report,and provide reference for cosmetic filers.
文摘Analyze the compatibility between cosmetics and live streaming e-commerce from its own nature,marketing means and supply chain characteristics.According to the prominent problems,sort out the relationship between all parties in the cosmetics live e-commerce industry chain.Combined with the latest regulatory policies of live streaming e-commerce and cosmetics,the responsibilities of different subjects in cosmetics live streaming e-commerce are summarized,and relevant suggestions and countermeasures are put forward for the standardization and development of live streaming e-commerce.Cosmetics brand owners are the first responsible persons for product quality.Anchors,as a mixed identity between intermediary,advertising spokesperson and operator,should bear stricter joint and several liability when recommending products related to consumers’health.If anchors fail to clearly identify themselves in the recommendation process,thus causing consumers to mistake them for the operator of the cosmetics,they should assume the obligations of the operator.
文摘Borneol, as a traditional natural permeation enhancer, has been widely used to promote the transdermal absorption of active ingredients. In this review, the mechanism of borneol in promoting permeation by destroying the highly ordered lipid structure of the lipid layer and by destroying the hydrogen-bond network was described. The application of borneol in promoting the transdermal absorption of the active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine and chemical drugs was introduced. The application of borneol as a natural ingredient added to functional cosmetics was summarized, and its effects on skin-spot treatment, acne skin care, eczema skin care, skin repair and anti-oxidation were introduced. Finally, the possible problems in the application of borneol in cosmetics were put forward, and the application prospect of borneol in the development of cosmetics was given.

文摘Collagen is the most abundant protein in mammals.Based on the source,collagen can be categorized into human and non-human-derived collagen,while the recombinant collagen is divided into recombinant human collagen,recombinant humanized collagen,and recombinant collagen-like protein.In cosmetics or beauty products,collagen serves as an active ingredient in the care and beautification of face,body and hair.With advancements in science and technology,recombinant collagen is gaining more attention in the cosmetics industry.More specifically,recombinant collagen demonstrates excellent biocompatibility and cell adhesion.Along with promoting new cell formation and hemostasis,the stronger ability of recombinant collagen to promote epithelial cell growth has attracted attention towards its production based on genetic engineering techniques.Recombinant collagen is produced by genetic engineering or optimizing the gene sequence based on the characteristics and main functional regions of human collagen,using various host cells from,for example,transgenic mice,insects,transgenic silkworms,transgenic tobacco,E.coli,or yeast.The sources include microbial,animal,or plant recombinant expression systems.To better understand the research status of recombinant collagen,we searched and collated relevant material found in electronic databases,such as PubMed,Web of Science,Google Scholar,Science Direct,and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI).This article reviews the classification and characterization of recombinant collagen,as well as factors affecting its synthesis,focusing on the classification of recombinant collagen expression systems and the application of recombinant collagen in different cosmetic products,aiming to provide a basal reference source for the future development of recombinant collagen and lay the foundation for further research in the beauty industry.
文摘In 2023,multiple supporting documents of the Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics and regulatory requirements for toothpaste were successively introduced.This article provides a detailed introduction to the updates of domestic cosmetics regulations in China in 2023,and sorts out the details of the 2023 unqualified cosmetics notification and flight inspection issued by regulatory authorities,analyzes the reasons,and helps cosmetics companies further understand regulatory requirements,implement the main responsibility of cosmetics quality and safety,and respond to changes in cosmetics regulatory policies,so as to avoid being notified of unqualified products,economic and reputation losses as much as possible.

文摘To study the efficacy of lip moisturizing cosmetics and explore the methods for evaluating their efficacy.The claimed efficacy and number of claimed efficacy of 44 lip moisturizing cosmetics were investigated,and a combination of in vitro and human testing was used to evaluate the efficacy of the lip moisturizing cosmetics.The efficacy claims of lip cosmetics mainly included 4 categories of moisturizing,repairing,soothing and anti-wrinkle,with 79.55%of the products claiming 3~4 categories of efficacy.In the in vitro test,the cell morphology of the skin damage model improved and the secretion of pro-inflammatory factors decreased significantly.In the human trial,the water content,skin softness and brightness L value of the cuticle of the lips increased significantly in 31 subjects,and the transepidermal water loss,redness a value,and the area and volume of lip wrinkles decreased significantly;the dryness of the lip skin and the uniformity of the skin texture improved significantly.The dryness of lip skin and the uniformity of skin texture were significantly improved.The results show that the moisture content of the stratum corneum can be used to evaluate the moisturizing efficacy of lip products.The transepidermal water loss,skin color,skin softness and expert assessment can be used to evaluate the repairing efficacy.The observation of cell morphology of skin damage models and the detection of pro-inflammatory factor content can be used to evaluate the soothing efficacy.The area and volume of lip wrinkles can be used to evaluate the anti-wrinkle efficacy of products.
文摘This article is based on data analysis from 2012 to 2019 of imported non-special-use cosmetics registration quantity,special-use cosmetics registration quantity,children's cosmetics registration quantity,etc.And also based on the Regulation on Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics(Draft),and so on.This article will briefly discuss the influence of the new trend of Chinese cosmetics regulations on the development of the cosmetics industry.According to data analysis,the pre-market approval process for cosmetics is closely related to the annual increase in the new product registrations quantity.Since March 1st,2017,the reform of the imported non-special-use cosmetics registration was first initiated in Pudong New Area in Shanghai,the imported cosmetics registration quantity has increased significantly,so as the non-special-use children’s registration.Under the background of no obvious change in the pre-marketing approval process of imported special-use cosmetics,there is no significant increase in the quantity of annual registration.Among the nine categories of special-use cosmetics,sunscreen and whitening cosmetics accounted for the highest proportion,followed by hair dyeing.For the hair-growing,breast beauty,fitness categories of special-use cosmetics,the registration quantity each year was very low due to the low approval rate,long approval process and high testing costs,etc.According to the new trend of Chinese cosmetics regulations,the idea of cosmetics supervision and administration is changing from focusing on pre-market approval procedures to focusing on post-market surveillance.
文摘This article described the current regulatory requirements of cosmetics in the United States,listed the major changes and adjustments of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022,such as the mandatory system of adverse event reporting and the registration of voluntary changes to mandatory,and analyzed the new regulatory requirements in depth,and put forward some suggestions for enterprises to cope with the strategy,so as to help enterprises adapt to the new policy more smoothly when exporting cosmetics.

文摘The global cosmetics market reached US$500 billion in 2017 and is expected to exceed US$800 billion by 2023,at around a 7%annual growth rate.The cosmetics industry is emerging as one of the fastest-growing industries of the past decade.Data shows that the Chinese cosmetics market was US$60 billion in 2021.It is expected to be the world’s number one consumer cosmetics market by 2050,with a size of approximately US$450 billion.The influence of social media and the internet has raised awareness of the risks associated with the usage of many chemicals in cosmetics and the health benefits of natural products derived from plants and other natural resources.As a result,the cosmetic industry is now paying more attention to natural products.The present review focus on the possible applications of natural products from various biological sources in skin care cosmetics,including topical care products,fragrances,moisturizers,UV protective,and anti-wrinkle products.In addition,the mechanisms of targets for evaluation of active ingredients in cosmetics and the possible benefits of these bioactive compounds in rejuvenation and health,and their potential role in cosmetics are also discussed.
