The use of visible-light responsive photocatalysts for removing heavy metal ions in wastewater has received great attention.However,the development of photocatalysts with high activity and recyclability remains a huge challenge.Herein,a recyclable carbon fiber cloth-supported porous CdS nanorod photocatalyst was fabricated by a two-step hydrothermal treatment using AgVO_(3) nanowires as templates.The results indicated that under visible-light illumination,the carbon cloth-supported porous CdS nanorods showed improved photocatalytic activity for the reduction of Cr(Ⅵ),with an apparent rate constant exceeding that of carbon cloth-supported CdS nanospheres by a factor of 1.65 times.Moreover,the carbon cloth-supported porous CdS nanorods can be easily separated and be reused.This brings a new perspective for developing photocatalysts with high efficiency and recyclability for wastewater treatment. 展开更多

Enhancing the firefighting protective clothing with exceptional thermal barrier and temperature sensing functions to ensure high fire safety for firefighters has long been anticipated,but it remains a major challenge.Herein,inspired by the human muscle,an anisotropic fire safety aerogel(ACMCA)with precise self-actuated temperature monitoring performance is developed by combining aramid nanofibers with eicosane/MXene to form an anisotropically oriented conductive network.By combining the two synergies of the negative temperaturedependent thermal conductive eicosane,which induces a high-temperature differential,and directionally ordered MXene that establishes a conductive network along the directional freezing direction.The resultant ACMCA exhibited remarkable thermoelectric properties,with S values reaching 46.78μV K^(−1)andκvalues as low as 0.048 W m^(−1)K^(−1)at room temperature.Moreover,the prepared anisotropic aerogel ACMCA exhibited electrical responsiveness to temperature variations,facilitating its application in intelligent temperature monitoring systems.The designed anisotropic aerogel ACMCA could be incorporated into the firefighting clothing as a thermal barrier layer,demonstrating a wide temperature sensing range(50-400℃)and a rapid response time for early high-temperature alerts(~1.43 s).This work provides novel insights into the design and application of temperature-sensitive anisotropic aramid nanofibers aerogel in firefighting clothing. 展开更多

Employing a qualitative methodology, the research entailed semi-structured, in-depth interviews with women utilizing lower limb prostheses and prosthetic specialists. This approach was selected to unearth pivotal design prerequisites and comprehend the specific challenges these women encounter within the realm of clothing. The utilization of selective sampling facilitated the collection of intricate and valuable insights. A Functional, Expressive, and Aesthetic (FEA) User Needs model was utilized to scrutinize participant feedback. Functional requisites encompass ease of dressing and undressing, accessibility to the prosthetic limb, comfort, mobility with the prosthesis, and appropriate fit. Additionally, participants highlighted various expressive needs, including privacy preservation, modesty, camouflaging disability appearances, maintaining alignment with non-disabled women’s fashion, and considerations about the aesthetic aspects of garments. 展开更多

CoS Nanosheets Coated with Dopamine-Derived Carbon Standing on Carbon Fiber Cloth as Binder-Free Anode for Li-ion Batteries

Cobalt sulphides attract much attention as anode materials for Li-ion batteries(LIBs).However,its poor conductivity,low initial column efficiency and large volume changes during cycling have hindered its further development.Herein,novel interlaced CoS nanosheets were firstly prepared on Carbon Fiber Cloth(CFC)by two hydrothermal reactions followed with carbon coating via carbonizing dopamine(CoS NS@C/CFC).As a freestanding anode,the nanosheet structure of CoS not only accommodates the volume variation,but also provides a large interface area to proceed the charge transfer reaction.In addition,CFC works as both a three-dimensional skeleton and an active substance which can further improve the areal capacity of the resulting electrode.Furthermore,the coated carbon combined with the CFC work as a 3D conductive network to facilitate the electron conduction.The obtained CoS NS@C/CFC,and the contrast sample prepared with the same procedure but without carbon coating(CoS NS/CFC),are characterized with XRD,SEM,TEM,XPS and electrochemical measurements.The results show that the CoS NS@C/CFC possesses much improved electrochemical performance due to the synergistic effect of nanosheet CoS,the coated carbon and the CFC substrate,exhibiting high initial columbic efficiency(~87%),high areal capacity(2.5 at 0.15 mA cm−2),excellent rate performance(1.6 at 2.73 mA cm−2)and improved cycle stability(87.5%capacity retention after 300 cycles).This work may provide a new route to explore freestanding anodes with high areal specific capacity for LIBs. 展开更多

Recently,poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)-based solid polymer electrolytes have been attracting great attention,and efforts are currently underway to develop PEO-based composite electrolytes for next generation high performance all-solid-state lithium metal batteries.In this article,a novel sandwich structured solid-state PEO composite electrolyte is developed for high performance all-solid-state lithium metal batteries.The PEO-based composite electrolyte is fabricated by hot-pressing PEO,LiTFSI and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene nanosheets into glass fiber cloth(GFC).The as-prepared GFC@PEO-MXene electrolyte shows high mechanical properties,good electrochemical stability,and high lithium-ion migration number,which indicates an obvious synergistic effect from the microscale GFC and the nanoscale MXene.Such as,the GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte shows a high tensile strength of 43.43 MPa and an impressive Young's modulus of 496 MPa,which are increased by 1205%and 6048%over those of PEO.Meanwhile,the ionic conductivity of GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene at 60℃ reaches 5.01×10^(-2) S m^(-1),which is increased by around 200%compared with that of GFC@PEO electrolyte.In addition,the Li/Li symmetric battery based on GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte shows an excellent cycling stability over 800 h(0.3 mA cm^(-2),0.3 mAh cm^(-2)),which is obviously longer than that based on PEO and GFC@PEO electrolytes due to the better compatibility of GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte with Li anode.Furthermore,the solid-state Li/LiFePO_(4) battery with GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene as electrolyte demonstrates a high capacity of 110.2–166.1 mAh g^(-1) in a wide temperature range of 25–60C,and an excellent capacity retention rate.The developed sandwich structured GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte with the excellent overall performance is promising for next generation high performance all-solid-state lithium metal batteries. 展开更多

This study focuses on designing a solution to the perennial issue of clothing fit in Fashion Industry using tools offered by digital technology and statistical analysis, in particular, the data gathered on Asian women (Bangladeshi and Chinese). The study reveals that managing information can significantly enhance the capability of the industry to cater to the needs of its consumers and increase diversity. It centers on the effectiveness of turning dressmaking patterns into digital ones, thus transecting from traditional cutting and stitching to remote techniques. This entails the requirement to have correct self-measures and probable errors, which can arise in the process. Thus, with the help of regression analysis, the study identifies, which measurements are incorrect and influence the fit of the clothes, and, therefore, digital pattern creation is more accurate. Altogether, it can be observed how digitalization and statistical methods are crucial to transforming the way clothes are created to approach an ideal standard of measurements that fulfill every customer’s needs to make operational and efficient the clothing sector. 展开更多

Micro-honeycomb ceramics were successfully fabricated through brush-coating with cloth fabric as pore-forming agent. The influence of pore-forming agent and slurry’s moisture content on the micro-honeycomb ceramics was investigated. The results indicated that micro-honeycomb ceramics made from pore-forming agent cloth fabric with fibre diameter of 100 μm and slurry with 45% (mass fraction) moisture content have the porosity of 65% (volume fraction), bending strength of 24.3 MPa, pore size of about 100 μm, cell wall thickness of about 50 μm and porosity of 1131 pore/cm2. It was suggested that the pore size and the porosity could be adjusted using the pore-forming agent and moisture content of the slurry respectively. 展开更多

The study, which was qualitative in nature, specifically sought to identify, describe, examine and analyse the design patterns of ceremonial and anniversary cloths, appraise their aesthetic values and significance in relation to the ideals, and philosophies of the institutions. The sampled cloth designs were discussed and analysed in descriptive form. The research revealed that there are several symbolic meanings attached to the corporate identities that sum up the objectives, ideals, values and philosophies of the institutions and corporate cloth design, whether for anniversary, ceremony or otherwise serves as an element of social cohesion. 展开更多

A general research program, focusing on activated carbon fiber cloths (ACFC) and felt for environmental protection was performed. The objectives were multiple: (i) a better understanding of the adsorption mecha- nisms of these kinds of materials; (ii) the specification and optimization of new processes using these adsorbents; (iii) the modeling of the adsorption of organic pollutants using both the usual and original approaches; (iv) applications of ACFC in industrial processes. The general question was: how can activated carbon fiber cloths and felts be used in air treatment processes for the protection of environment. In order to provide an answer, different approaches were adopted. The materials (ACFC) were characterized in terms of macro structure and internal porosity. Specific studies were performed to get the air flow pattern through the fabrics. Head loss data were generated and modeled as a fi.mction of air velocity. The performances of ACF to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were approached with the adsorption isotherms and breakthrough curves in various operating conditions. Regenera- tion by Joule effect shows a homogenous heating of adsorber modules with rolled or pleated layers. Examples of industrial developments were presented showing an interesting technology for the removal of VOCs, such as dichloromethane, benzene, isopropyl alcohol and toluene, alone or in a complex mixture. 展开更多

Carbon cloth modified by hydrothermal treatment in ammonia water is developed as the positive electrode with high electrochemical performance for vanadium redox flow batteries. The SEM shows that the treatment has no obvious influence on the morphology of carbon cloth. XPS measurements indicate that the nitrogenous functional groups can be introduced on the surface of carbon cloth successfully. The electrochemical performance of V(IV)/V(V) redox couple on the prepared electrode is evaluated with cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry measurements. The N-doped carbon cloth exhibits outstanding electrochemical activity and reversibility toward V(IV)/V(V) redox couple. The rate constant of V(IV)/V(V) redox reaction on carbon cloth can increase to 2.27 x 10(-4) cm/s from 1.47 x 10(-4) cm/s after nitrogen doping. The cell using N-doped carbon cloth as positive electrode has larger discharge capacity and higher energy efficiency compared with the cell using pristine carbon cloth. The average energy efficiency of the cell using N-doped carbon cloth for 50 cycles at 30 mA/cm(2) is 87.8%, 4.3% larger than that of the cell using pristine carbon cloth. It indicates that the N-doped carbon cloth has a promise application prospect in vanadium redox flow batteries. The dewatering can be enhanced dramatically by the use of electroosmosis,in which an electric field is applied to the sludge cake.In this study,the influence of filter cloth on the cathode on the dewatering of activated sludge was investigated.It was found that thicker filter cloth led to lower water removal from the sludge cake,so a stainless steel cathode net with small pore size instead of filter cloth was applied,which improves the dewatering efficiency and reduces the electric power consumption.Moreover,water absorbent materials were helpful to remove the water from the sludge cake.For the electroosmotic dewatering at 7 kPa and 24 V·cm-1,the water content in the sludge cake decreased to 60%(by mass) with the average 0.075 kW·h·kg-1of water removed by using the cathode net. 展开更多

Nanostructured porous polyaniline(PANI)has been synthesized and coated simultaneously on a highly flexible and conductive carbon cloth(CC)substrate using a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization technique.PANI coated CC(PANI-CC)based flexible electrodes were further used for the fabrication of flexible supercapacitor devices.For the comparison purpose,pure PANI has also been synthesized and tested for its electrochemical performance.The energy storage capacity of PANI and PANI–CC composite was investigated using electrochemical techniques like CV,GCD,and EIS in a potential range from 0 to 0.8 V in 1 M H_(2)SO_(4)electrolyte.PANI-CC flexible electrodes exhibited the highest specific capacitance of 691 F/g;whereas,pure PANI could only achieve 575 F/g of specific capacitance at 1 A/g.Composite also exhibited outstanding cyclic stability by recollecting 94%of its initial capacitance after 2000 GCD cycles.For actual implementation,a flexible supercapacitor device has been fabricated using stainless steel sheets and PANI-CC flexile electrodes.The energy storage performance of the PANI-CC flexible supercapacitor device was tested at several bending angles,which resulted in 72%of capacitance retention at a maximum bending angle of 140°compared to the capacitance obtained at an angle 0°(flat state).PANI-CC exhibited improved electrochemical performance than pure PANI due to the synergistic effect between PANI and CC.Here,CC helped in enhancing the conductivity and stability;whereas,PANI boosted the capacitance owing to its excellent porosity and fast pseudocapacitive charge storage response. 展开更多

A flexible electrode of nickel diselenide/carbon fiber cloth(NiSe/CFC) is fabricated at room temperature by a simple and efficient electrodeposition method. Owing to NiSecharacter of nanostructure and high conductivity, the as-synthesized electrodes possess perfect pseudocapacitive property with high specific capacitance and excellent rate capability. In three-electrode system, the electrode specific capacitance of the NiSe/CFC electrode varies from 1058 F gto 996.3 F gat 2 A gto 10 A grespectively, which shows great rate capability. Moreover, the NiSeelectrode is assembled with an active carbon(AC) electrode to form an asymmetric supercapacitor with an extended potential window of 1.6 V. The asymmetric supercapacitor possesses an excellent energy density 32.7 Wh kgwith a power density 800 W kgat the current density of 1 A g. The nanosheet array on carbon fiber cloth with high flexibility, specific capacitance and rate capacitance render the NiSeto be regarded as the promising material for the high performance superconductor. 展开更多
